Emma Coronel Aispuro, the wife of the notorious Mexican drug lord best known as El Chapo, was sentenced on Tuesday to three years in prison on charges of helping run her husband’s multibillion-dollar criminal empire and playing a role in his escape from custody after he was captured in 2014.

She had been in the cross-hairs of U.S. authorities for months. She ultimately pleaded guilty in June to helping Mr. Guzmán smuggle drugs across the U.S. border and make his dramatic flight from a high-security Mexican prison, an operation that involved a self-powered rail cart, a watch outfitted with a GPS device and a mile-long tunnel dug into the shower of his cell.

A dual U.S.-Mexican citizen, Ms. Coronel has, like her husband, long been a figure of public fascination, a role that she has often stoked by her lavish lifestyle and her laissez-faire attitude toward paparazzi. At her sentencing hearing in Federal District Court in Washington, she expressed “true regrets” for her crimes and begged Judge Rudolph Contreras to ignore the fact that she was the wife of an infamous drug lord.

“Perhaps because of this, there is reason for you to be harder on me,” Ms. Coronel said. “But I pray that you do not do that.”

While it is unusual for law enforcement to go after the spouses of drug-world figures, prosecutors at Mr. Guzmán’s trial offered substantial evidence that Ms. Coronel, while still in her 20s, was deeply enmeshed in her husband’s criminal business.

They introduced BlackBerry messages, for instance, that made clear that she had helped Mr. Guzmán conduct his illicit operations, sometimes alongside her own father, Inés Coronel Barreras, who was one of her husband’s top lieutenants and was taken into custody in 2013 in Mexico.

Other messages indicated that Ms. Coronel was intimately involved not only in Mr. Guzmán’s famous 2015 tunnel escape from Altiplano prison in Toluca, Mexico, but also in helping him to evade capture by American and Mexican authorities after a botched raid in 2012 in the Mexican resort town Cabo San Lucas.

At Mr. Guzmán’s trial, his onetime chief of staff, Dámaso López Núñez, told the jury that Ms. Coronel had sought to help her husband escape from prison yet again after he was recaptured in 2016 and returned to Altiplano. According to Mr. López, Ms. Coronel hatched a plot to bribe Mexico’s top prison official, but Mr. Guzmán was extradited to the United States to stand trial before the plan could be carried out.

As part of her plea deal with the government, Ms. Coronel agreed to turn over about $1.5 million in illicit proceeds from her husband’s illegal operations. While she admitted to helping him move at least 450 kilograms of cocaine, 90 kilograms of heroin and nearly 90,000 kilograms of marijuana into the United States over the years, she still received a relatively light sentence in part because her role in smuggling even that amount of drugs made her a “minimal participant” in a much larger criminal enterprise, according to her plea deal.

“The defendant was not an organizer, leader, boss or other type of manager,” Anthony J. Nardozzi, a federal prosecutor, told the court. “Rather she was a cog in a very large wheel of a criminal organization.”

In the wake of Ms. Coronel’s arrest, there was widespread speculation that she — like so many of Mr. Guzmán’s former allies — had decided to cooperate with U.S. authorities against other members of the organization he once led, the Sinaloa drug cartel. But in court papers filed this month, prosecutors said she had helped the government only in the prosecution of her own case.

Ms. Coronel’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, called the allegations that she had cooperated with the government “garbage,” adding that they had put his client’s life in danger. “I don’t know if she can ever go back to her home in Mexico,” Mr. Lichtman said.

The Sinaloa cartel remains one of Mexico’s most powerful criminal mafias, even in Mr. Guzmán’s absence. It is said to be run by an uneasy alliance of his sons, one of his brothers and his longtime partner, Ismael Zambada García, all of whom have been indicted in the United States.

Drama as corpse dumped at midwife’s homestead. The incident took place yesterday when Steven Shiri, 32, emotionally attached the child’s death to the midwife Ndakaziva Mawire, 48’s alleged threats that she would cause the baby’s death if she was not paid for her services.

When H-Metro arrived at the scene, Shiri had taken his child back to his home which is a few houses away from Mawire’s house. In a suspected case of juju, an Epworth man dumped his seven-month-old dead child at a midwife’s home blaming her for causing the death. The corpse was still in his house with plans to bury the deceased at a nearby cemetery in Epworth.

According to witnesses, Mawire managed to escape the drama and sought help at Epworth Police Station. “I sired the child who just died with my second wife and she had a twin brother. They were delivered by Mawire seven months ago,” Shiri narrated.

“Prior to the incident, I had refused to give my second wife money to register at the local clinic because we were having problems. So when my wife was now due Mawire offered to help and charged me US$15.

“She wanted to be paid before she did the job and we had a misunderstanding that lasted until the day of delivery,” said Shiri. He accused Mawire of lacking skill to deliver the second child since they were twins.

“After delivering the first child, Mawire failed to notice the second child leaving her untrained aide to pull the second child by her hands before pushing her back in again.

“I immediately noticed that something went wrong during the delivery and it was evident on the child’s arms which could not bend,” he claimed. Shiri claimed when she suggested for the child to see a specialist soon after delivery, Mawire refused demanding to be paid more money and threatening that something will befall the minor.

“A few days after the birth, I asked Mawire to accompany my wife to hospital when my daughter’s arms became swollen. She refused to go to the hospital as a witness and the doctors also said the child required an operation but only when she had grown up.

“Mawire demanded more money for the extra child she did not expect to deliver, I told her I had paid her enough.

“She then told me kuti ndichazviona zvichaitika kumwana since ndange ndaramba kumubhadhara imwe mari yaaida,” he added. The child had been sick since the delivery and my wife went to consult a few prophets who all revealed that Mawire had a hand and if I only pay her the child will be well.

On Saturday evening I paid her US$5 but to my surprise, the child died the following morning and I suspect she had everything to do with the death.

“I cried so much for the loss and because I was hurt and I took the dead child to Mawire’s house and confronted her on her evilness after telling me that “Ndichazviona”,” he said.

In her defence, Mawire claimed she was shocked by the development and denied ever causing the death.

“We had agreed that the family was going to pay US$20 for my services but they did not pay me anything and I only had to let them be.

“However, I was surprised to see him bringing his dead child threatening to abandon the corpse on my doorstep. “I tried to escape but was manhandled and assaulted by Shiri,” Mawire claimed. She claimed she managed to escape and reported the matter at Epworth Police.

“The police told me that Shiri was supposed to compensate me for his behavior and accusing me of being a witch,” she said. Mawire claims she has been a midwife for the past 18 years and licensed by the Traditional Medical Practitioners Council.

Suicide victim finally buried 2 weeks’ death. Darlington Rushambwa, 39, popularly known as Dadza, was remanded in custody by a Mbare magistrate on November 22 but used his belt and mesh wire to commit suicide in a toilet. He was found hanging in the holding cell after being denied bail. His body was taken to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital for post-mortem.

A Glen Norah man who committed suicide in holding cells after being arrested for robbing a neighbour of a cellphone worth US$10 has been buried two weeks after his death.

Darlington was buried at Granville Cemetery in a tense atmosphere. A close relative Natsai Rushambwa said they are pained by the death of their brother. “I am at a loss for words, I am greatly pained and devastated,” she said. Another relative who spoke to H-Metro could not hide her dismay.

“I am really pained by the death, the unexpected death of my brother was horrific. “The process leading to burial took so long but finally we managed to bury our beloved brother,” she said.

A local pastor who attended the burial said: “l thank God and people who responded well and no matter what the issue, people should not kill themselves. God will forgive you (Isiah 1 vs 18) even in jail you just need to do the will of God.”

His father refused to comment. Allegations are that on the day in question, Darlington committed the offence when he was in the company of four other accomplices.

A neighbour told this publication that Dadza was a habitual offender. “This is not the first time. He is a regular in this and they robbed the phone whilst they were five. “After taking the phone, Darlington was the only one arrested.

“Vakamuudza kuti munhu wekuziva and they asked him to tell them the other men he was with on the day of the crime. “It was his passport for freedom but he refused to tell the names. “Dai akataura aibva atengesa, and he killed himself.”

“’It is said he was arrested by the owners of the phone and he was thoroughly beaten all the way to the police,” he said. Dadza was arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred in Glen Norah A in March this year.

On March 18 this year, a complainant Matts Kungulani was walking from Spaceman Shops to his home using Gumbe Road. Along the way, Rushambwa and three others pounced on Kungulani, hitting him on the back before tying his hands and legs.

59 inmates escaped Zim prisons. The figure marks an increase from the 48 jailbreak cases recorded in 2020. In a number of cases the escapees are assisted by members of the ZPCS they would have bribed.

The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) has revealed that a total of 59 inmates have escaped from prisons since the beginning of the year in a development that exposes serious loopholes in the facilities.

ZPCS Commissioner General Moses Chihobvu said officers needed to be more alert while on duty to avoid a further spike in prison break cases. He said: “A total of 59 escapes have so far been recorded in 2021 as compared to 48 recorded over the same period in 2020.

“However, notwithstanding such escape incidents, the ZPCS continues to conscientise its staff on the need to be vigilant during the call of duty.”

Recently in October two prison wardens were arrested after they allegedly assisted a serial r@pist, Sam Muropa, escape from Harare Remand Prison.

When Muropa was later rearrested, he implicated the duo, Ngonidzashe Munhuuripi and Simbarashe Machekera as the facilitators of his escape.

.Report: Foreign currency deposits grow by US$59 million. The central bank’s monthly economic review for September 2021 shows that foreign currency deposits have been registering an upward trend.

Foreign currency deposits have registered a US$59 million increase inside twelve months, indicating growing confidence in local banks by citizens, latest Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) statistics reveal.

“The foreign currency deposits component of broad money registered an annual growth of 64%, from an equivalent of $92,19 billion in September 2020 to $151 06 billion in September 2021. This largely reflected an increase in the value of FCAs from US$ 1,13 billion in September 2020 to US$1,72 billion in September 2021,” the report said.

The statistics are consistent with policy measures implemented by the RBZ which include among others, the unlimited access to foreign currency in US$ nostro accounts.

The sustained policy has gone a long way to boost confidence among members of the banking public who used to keep their foreign currency in their homes for fear of losing their savings due to unpredictable policies.

On a monthly basis, foreign currency deposits grew from $133,77 billion in the previous month to $151,06 billion in September 2021. The monthly report also shows that on an annual basis, local currency deposits included in broad money registered a growth of 249,30%, while currency in circulation increased by 80,94%.

During the period under review, broad money increased by $35,41 billion recording 10,76% largely underpinned by an increase in foreign currency deposits. Credit to the private sector was, in large part, extended towards agriculture, 28,42%; households, 21,31%; distribution, 11,54%; financial organizations, 10,49%; manufacturing, 10,55%; and services, 8,27%.

“Despite the resurgence of renewed inflationary pressures in the economy, continued stability in the macro-economic environment curtailed large changes in inflation rates, compared to the corresponding period in 2020,” the report added.

Woman wins US$180,000 in a 20-year-old s.ex.ual harassment lawsuit case. Rita Marque Mbatha reported former Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) CEO Farai Bwatikona Zizhou for s.e.xual harassment when she worked as his personal assistant between 2002 and 2003. The CZI responded by sacking her.

A woman who was sacked from her job after reporting her boss for s.e.xual harassment has been awarded US$180,000 by the High Court after a nearly 20-year battle.

Last week, a judge praised her tenacity for keeping her fight alive as she won a lawsuit against Zizhou. Justice Joseph Mafusire said Mbatha’s victory had come through “blood and sweat.” Mbatha sued both Zizhou and CZI for a total of US$500,000. The suit against CZI is pending. Justice Mafusire said it was disheartening that Zizhou never showed any remorse.

“The matter has had a long turbulent history. The wheels of justice have turned slowly for her. There can be no denying that. She has been to this court. She strives for closure. Any lesser mortal would probably have given up. Plainly, Mbatha is no lesser mortal. Her tenacity and fighting spirit have moved mountains. She is still fighting,” said the judge.

Mafusire said his judgement only settles half the case.

Mbatha, now the director of Women’s Comfort Corner Foundation (WCCF) and a board member of the International Alliance of Women (IAW), told the High Court that Zizhou’s harassment took the form of inappropriate touching, unwelcome offensive jokes, invitation by innuendo to an inappropriate s.e.xual relationship and offensive telephone messages.

She was employed by CZI in September 2002 and got fired in July 2003. Mbatha accused Zizhou of engineering her sacking after she had reported him for s.e.xual harassment. In one incident, Zizhou emailed Mbatha with a misleading subject caption titled “Call from Mr Miller (Superior Holdings).”

He started by writing that “I have used the above caption just in case…” Zizhou asked Mbatha to delete the email soon after reading it. In the email, he said he was prepared to lose his job for her sake.

He wrote: “Shamwari if I do get dismissed, it will be because I would like to do whatever I can for the person I care for most, you. Right now I’m under pressure to balance the budget of CZI. You have just completed your probation and… you’re not eligible for the general increase for permanent staff… I’m bending the rule for you, please hold on tight to me, if we crash, we crash together.”

He went on to say that she would get the same increase everyone was getting. He wrote to Mbatha that he would be visualising her when he is bathing with his wife, adding that the sight of his naked wife was “torture and unbearable” to him.

Mbatha’s matter went to arbitration, the High Court and all the way up to the Supreme Court and back to the High Court again.

Justice Mafusire said: “There has never been an apology. One thinks it would have been quite salutary and a measure of atonement for the injured brain. At the arbitration, Zizhou sought to dismiss his reprehensible conduct as mere jokes. He was callous. He engineered Mbatha’s dismissal from employment. After the incident and the dismissal, she was not treated with sensitivity.

“Even discounting what the CZI president is alleged to have said to her, the person to negotiate an out of court settlement with plaintiff was none other than Zizhou himself.”

Mafusire ruled that taking into consideration all that Mbatha had been through, “the proper level of damages for sexual harassment perpetrated by the defendant from September 2002 to June 2003 is US$180,000… or equivalent thereof in local currency convertible at the interbank rate at the time of payment.” He ruled that Zizhou should pay interest on the amount and cost of suit.

3 prophets wanted for murder. National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident. Three self-styled prophets have gone into hiding after killing a woman they had accused of being a witch by forcing her to drink an unknown concoction in Binga last week.

“Police are seeking for information which can lead to the arrest of three unknown self-proclaimed prophets with one of them only known as “Kiss”.

“The trio is wanted in connection with the death of Zekela Muleya (72) at Donga Village in Binga last Friday after the suspects alleged that she was a witch. They shaved the victim’s hair, cut her with a razor before administering unknown concoctions on the wounds and forcing her to drink the substances,” he said.

She died on the spot and a report was made to the police. Meanwhile, police in Harare are investigating a case of suspected murder in which a self-styled prophetess administered a healing concoction that turned out deadly leading to the patient’s death.

The incident occurred in Glen View when a local woman sought spiritual healing from the self-proclaimed prophetess. Asst Comm Nyathi said the suspect, Shylet Chatikobo (33), was up on a murder charge.

“Chatikobo administered a concoction on Linet Mbesa on 05 October in Glen Norah, Harare, leading to her death. The victim had sought spiritual healing from the suspect,” he said.

Mpochi, who is represented by lawyer Mr Arshiel Mugiya, denied the charges when he appeared before regional magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Mhene.

Zimbabwe’s much talked about new Cyber security and data law. Passed through presidential assent on Friday, the Cyber Security and Data Protection Act criminalises an array of security threats that have haunted individuals and the nation at large.

The net has closed in on cybercriminals with the new Cyber Security and Data Protection Act set to address cyberbullying and child p0rn0graphy among other vices.

Among other clauses, the law criminalises online bullying as well as production and availing of pornographic pieces or any other child s.e.xual abuse materials and exposing children to explicit s.e.xual activity. Social media has come with its fair share of challenges, as some individuals are using various platforms to attack others.

This will however become a thing of the past as the new law criminalises cyber bullying and harassment, processing of non-sensitive and sensitive information without the consent of the data subject, hacking, the transmission of false information to cause harm, and inciting violence. Dissemination of r@cist and xenophobic materials is now a criminal offence liable to a fine or imprisonment up to ten years.

The Act is meant to encourage technological development and the lawful use of technology while bringing to book cybercriminals as evidence generated from computer and electronic systems will be permissible in court for offences in terms of this Act.
The Act will also see the creation of the Data Protection Authority which will replace the Postal Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) in playing the oversight role.

It will also regulate the manner in which personal information may be processed and enforces fair processing of data in accordance with the Act.

Buffalo Range international airport runway finally complete. The newly refurbished Buffalo Range International airport runway was constructed under the District Development Fund’s Emergency road rehabilitation programme.

The refurbishment of the Buffalo Range international airport runway is now complete in yet another confirmation that the second republic is walking the talk in infrastructure development across the country.

The airport is a critical gateway for tourists visiting the Lowveld, which is home to resort areas such as Gonarezhou National park and Malilangwe Conservation Trust. “Being the main gateway into the Eastern, and South-Eastern Lowveld this airport is of critical importance to the tourism industry, the business community because it covers the whole area of Masvingo Province including part of Matabeleland South.

All the traffic into those areas, this is their main entrance,” said Mr Stanely Chigwada, the Buffalo Range International Airport Manager. Masvingo DDF Provincial Co-ordinator, Mr Masara Gutukunhuwa confirmed that government disbursed close to US$2 million for the project.

“We did the shoulders and completed, we did the cracks finished as DDF and we brought in Bitumen World to do the paving, which is complete. President Mnangagwa in Bulawayo for Varsity Film Expo. President ED Mnangagwa
has touched down at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport for the official opening of VarsityFilmExpo at NUST. He was received by government officials, Joc members and Zanu PF supporter.

President Mnangagwa has landed at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport ahead of the national film varsity festival expo to be held at the National University of Science and Technology (Nust).

He was welcomed by Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Bulawayo Judith Ncube and State Security Minister Owen Ncube and service chiefs. Zanu-PF supporters have also converged to welcome the President.

The expo kicks off on Monday and will end on Wednesday. President Mnangagwa is expected to officially launch the expo. Seven universities from across the country are set to compete for the annual championship.

Universities participating in the three-day event are Nust, University of Zimbabwe, Midlands State University, Lupane State University, Chinhoyi University of Technology, Great Zimbabwe University and Solusi University.

The Varsity Film Expo is an initiative of a Bulawayo-based company, Film and TV Resources led by renowned award-winning film director and cinematographer Kudzai Chikomo, along with businessman come politician Kwanele Hlabangana.

The two partnered with Government through the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development and local universities to deliver the programme.

This initiative is an opportunity for university students to be involved in content creation. It is also crucial to the development and growth of the film industry in Zimbabwe.

Running under the theme: “Vivid: Amplifying SDGs through Film and Digital Media”, the 2021 expo has attracted famous filmmakers such as Eddie Ndlovu (Wenera), Stephen Chigorimbo (Studio 263), Memory Kumbota and Raisedon Baya, as well as university students, academics, content creators, media industry practitioners and policymakers.

After being thumped 4-1 by Liverpool and director of football Marcel Brands leaving the club, Rafael Benitez’s team responded with a much-improved display that showed the character and resilience fans were looking for.

Demarai Gray’s superb injury-time strike earned Everton a first win in nine games to end a bruising week with a stunning comeback against Arsenal. Richarlison had brought Everton level with 11 minutes of normal time remaining after Martin Odegaard scored the game’s opener from Kieran Tierney’s cross in first-half stoppage time.

That the winner came after Richarlison had also had two goals ruled out for offside by the video assistant referee before getting the equaliser will only have added to the home fans’ delight.

The scenes at the final whistle were a complete turnaround from last Wednesday, when the mood turned ugly after a 4-1 defeat by their city rivals. The victory lifts Everton to 12th in the table, eight points above the relegation zone.

Gray proves cut-price talisman again
Few fans can have expected such a performance after recent showings – had Everton failed to win this would have been their worst run of form since 1994.

Instead it was reminiscent of the club’s early season form when they chalked up successive comeback wins at home and climbed to fourth.

And it was the perfect response to dozens of fans who left their seats after 27 minutes in protest about how the club is being run, with the timing a reference to the club’s 27-year wait for a trophy.

The result also vindicated Benitez’s insistence that the club would return to winning ways once injured players returned, even if Lucas Digne was left out as Yerry Mina returned to the side.

In keeping with their success earlier in the season, it was Gray who was Everton’s most dangerous player, but he was aided by Richarlison, who showed great perseverance to score at the third time of asking.

His header in a poor first half, moments before Odegaard scored for Arsenal, was clearly offside but the frustration for the Brazilian and the 35,000 Everton fans inside a raucous Goodison Park was palpable when a second goal was ruled out because his toe was inches beyond the Arsenal defensive line.

When his headed goal eventually came after Gray hit the bar, it changed the mood among a set of fans who have been angered by a familiar run of form under majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, despite the British-Iranian spending close to £500m over the past six years.

But there was further delight to come when Gray found the top corner for his fifth goal of the season. Having arrived for only £1.7m in the summer, he is proving to be a cut-price talisman.

Arsenal show discipline but lack inspiration
Mikel Arteta’s return to a club where he spent five years as a player proved a fruitless one.

Having made four changes from the loss at Manchester United last Thursday, including the return of Bukayo Saka, Granit Xhaka, Tierney and Alexandre Lacazette up front in place of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, he was rewarded with a disciplined performance.

But a third defeat in four games, following an eight-game unbeaten run, will lead to further questions about his side, who were outfought and looked uninspired for large periods of the game.

There was a welcome return for Tierney, who in his first game since mid-October was instrumental in Arsenal taking the lead, while Saka was a threat down the right in place of Emile Smith Rowe.

There was little else to show for a first half in which the Gunners came up against a solid Everton defence, typified by some robust challenges by Ben Godfrey, who was also subject of a VAR check for a red card after his boot came into contact with Takehiro Tomiyasu.

After sitting on their lead in the second half, they were only stirred into life again after Everton’s goals.

Late chances fell to Odegaard, whose shot was blocked by the brilliant Godfrey, Eddie Nketiah, who hit the post, and Aubameyang, who skewed wide after Gray’s eventual winner.

The defeat means the Gunners remain seventh and missed out on a chance to go above Tottenham into fifth.

So the cause of the accident is the drama part as he was recording a slay queen dancing for him in his car whilst he was recording her doing so, at the same time he was driving too.

Benjani Mwaruwari set to be reappointed as Warriors Assistant Coach. Zimbabwe currently has no technical team to lead the Warriors after Norman Mapeza’s contract as interim coach expired at the end of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers last month.

Former Warriors assistant coach Benjani Mwaruwari is reportedly set to be drafted into the national team set-up again ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.  Mwaruwari was appointed as an assistant coach to former Warriors gaffer Zdravko Logarusic in September in a bid to salvage Zimbabwe’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

He however lost his job after two games when the ZIFA board fired the entire Warriors technical team including co-assistants Tonderai Ndiraya and Lloyd Chitembwe. The Herald reported a source as saying Mwaruwari will be returning as one of the assistant coaches to whoever is offered the job to take the Warriors to Cameroon. Said the source:

The issue of the coach is yet to be finalised. Of course, engagements have been going on and hopefully, by the end of this week, we should know which direction things are taking.

But what is likely to be certain is that Benjani Mwaruwari will be returning as one of the assistant coaches. In fact, the idea was to give Mapeza a contract after the World Cup qualifiers and then allow him to choose his assistants.

This time he was supposed to have three assistants, including Benjani because there was a general feeling that he did not have enough time to make his contributions.

So, whoever is coming as a coach, even if the plans to re-engage Mapeza fail, should include Benjani in the set-up. His experience is needed and his influence is critical, especially when going to such a tournament as the AFCON finals.

Mwaruwari (43), a former Warriors captain sat on the Warriors bench for two matches against South Africa and Ethiopia before the upheaval. He was on the job for just 18 days.

Poet Ntsiki Mazwai has lambasted TV presenter Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye‘s family for “using her name” to protect their son.

This after Moja Love suspended the Uyajola 99 host following media personality Amanda Du-Pont’s allegation that Jub Jub raped her while they were in a two-year relationship a few years ago. That was followed by three similar allegations against the rapper.

Jub Jub’s family said the claims made against their son “have damaged his reputation and infringed his rights to privacy and dignity” and maintained they are not true.

In the statement, they made reference to the highly controversial case that involved DJ Fresh and Ntsiki.

The poet cleared the air and said these are two completely different matters.

“I would like to correct something. I lost my case because I posted about an alleged victim and she did not come forward to verify the story. It is not the same as Amanda, Masechaba, and the other ladies who are the originators of their posts and stories. I feel it disingenuous to use my case to intimidate these women from telling their story.”

Ntsiki said statement erroneously said the judge presiding over the case ordered her to pay R500,000, which she said was not true.

“My elders, I have been ordered by the court not to speak defamatory about my complainant, and as you correctly stated I lost. You also got all my costs wrong. I was ordered to pay their legal fees which came close to R200,000. I don’t know where you got the half a million from unless it was just to scare the other ladies.”
