Mzansi singer Kelly Khumalo is ready to take to the stand and testify on what she knows about the murder of her “baby daddy”, former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, confirmed by her attorney Magdalene Moonsamy ahead of the trial that is taking place today (22 April).

Kelly Khumalo’s attorney Magdalene Moonsamy confirmed that the singer is ready to testify at her ex-boyfriend and “baby daddy” Senzo Meyiwa’s murder trial, if required. Moonsamy was present at the trial, which had been postponed twice, to conduct a watching brief.

According to Wikipedia, a “watching brief” is a method normally used in criminal cases by lawyers to represent clients not directly a party to the suit, and to function as an observer.

Five hitmen – Muzikawukhulelwa S’Tembu Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli were arrested and charged after being accused of murdering Senzo. The trial was set to start on 11 April but was postponed. This was because Advocate Zandile Mshololo – the legal representative of the fifth accused – Sifisokuhle Ntuli, indicated she was unable to proceed with the trial without sufficiently consulting.

The case was postponed for 24 hours but when Msholo returned to court she said that she was still not ready to proceed with trial, and requested a further five working days’ postponement.

Senzo Meyiwa was killed in an alleged armed robbery at the home of his then-girlfriend Kelly’s house in Vosloorus on 26 October 2014. Kelly was one of those in the home at the time Senzo was killed along with,

• Kelly’s sister Zandie
• Their mother Ntombi
• Zandi’s boyfriend Longwe Twala
• Meyiwa’s friends Mthokozisi Thwala and Tumelo Madlala
• Kelly’s children Christian and Thingo

Moonsamy revealed that Kelly will take the stand as a witness if she is required to.

“If the prosecution requires her as a witness in court … she is a witness in the matter and she has been compliant and cooperative in the matter,” said Moonsamy to eNCA ahead of the resumption on Friday.

“So if she is required to be present in court then she will be,” she continued.

So, why is Kelly willing to testify now? Well, Moonsamy previously said they just want closure for the nation and the world.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) announced that it is ready to proceed with the trial today (22 April).

“The NPA’s lead prosecutor in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, Advocate George Baloyi urges all role players to ensure that the matter proceeds (today), in the interest of justice for the Meyiwa family and the public at large,” said North Gauteng regional spokesperson for the director of public prosecutions, Lumka Mahanjana.

A 32-year-old Zimbabwean man, Andrea Imbayarwo has been slapped with two life sentences by a South African High Court for raping and killing a British businesswoman in Thabazimbi in the Waterberg District.

Imbayarwo who committed the offence in 2014, was convicted of committing the two crimes when he appeared at the Limpopo Division High Court this week.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed the development today.

“The accused, 32-year-old Zimbabwean national, Andrea Imbayarwo was sentenced to two life imprisonment terms for raping and killing Christine Robinson, who was the owner of Raditau Lodge in Thabazimbi in the Waterberg District. This horrendous crime was committed during 2014,” he said.

“The deceased was found in her bedroom on the morning of 30 July 2014 at about 07:30. The police were called and on arrival at the scene, the victim was found with the knife still stuck in her neck. She was certified dead by the paramedics.”

Lt Col Ledwaba said intensive investigations were carried out and It was then discovered that Imbayarwo had on the same day hired a vehicle to take him to Beitbridge Border Post with the aim of going to Zimbabwe.

On July 30 2020, he said the police got a tip-off about the accused’s whereabouts and they swiftly arrested him.

He said further investigations revealed that the woman was also raped and robbed of some valuables.

Fashion designer Quiteria Kekana has been laid to rest. His funeral was held at the Parkhurst Recreational Centre, where he was later taken to his final resting place at Westpark Cemetery.

Mum Violet Kekana wrote a letter, that was read by a family member. In it, she said Quiteria was a blessing to her and those around him.

“You are a treasure in our hearts; you are loved. I will miss you. You brought blue skies to my world and brought joy, happiness and love. Life will never be the same, but my love for you is solid,” it read.

“I’m grateful to God for blessing me with such an amazing child, truly, you were a blessing to me and everyone around you. Rest and have peace my child, I love you.”

His friend Dr Cino Shearer said he met Quiteria in 2004, when he was asking for funding.

“Since then, I’ve looked into that investment with pleasure. And I think if there’s anything that we should all take from Quiteria, young and old, is the ability to be one’s brand. Believe in yourself and your ability to make your brand a success. I would not have invested had Quiteria not have the self-conviction he had,” he said.

The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) is mourning the death of Colonel John Mhlanga who died on Tuesday after he was involved in a fatal road accident along the Bulawayo-Plumtree highway while on his way to Botswana. He was the country’s Defence Attaché to Botswana.

He was 59 years old.

In a statement, Deputy Director Army Public Relations Lieutenant Colonel Alex Zuva said Colonel Mhlanga was a patriotic cadre who will be missed. He said:

Zimbabwe’s Defence Attaché to Botswana, Colonel John Mhlanga has died. He was 59 years old. Colonel Mhlanga was involved in a fatal road traffic accident along the Bulawayo-Plumtree highway while on his way to Botswana on 19 April 2022.

Colonel Mhlanga was born on the 1 November 1962 at Chikore Mission commonly known as Craigmore. His family emanated from Manjehwe area, under Headman Siyakisa and Chief Musikavanhu in Chipinge District, Manicaland Province. The late Senior Officer started his primary education at Bangira Primary School in 1969 before proceeding to Chinaa Primary School and later on Big Tree Primary School where he completed his Grade Seven. He gave up his education to pursue the revolutionary cause in response to the growing consciousness about the freedom of his country.

He belonged to that crop of young men and women who quickly developed the political consciousness which gave youths of his day the spirit of confronting the white settler regime with its segregatory policies.

It was not long before the late Senior Officer found himself crossing the border to Mozambique on 25 July 1976. He first arrived at Espungabeira before moving to Posto-Machazi. The late Colonel Mhlanga stayed at Chibawawa Refugee Camp until August 1976 when he departed to Chimoio – ZANU Headquarters. He commenced initial military training at the end of 1976. After his initial training, the late Senior Officer went on to specialise in Anti-Aircraft Guns.

He was supposed to deploy to the front in May 1977 but was withdrawn to join an Instructors’ Course which had just commenced. Colonel Mhlanga was one of the cadres who survived the Chimoio attack in 1977. Thereafter, he was deployed to Tangwena Sector in Manicaland Province, Bonda Detachment. He remained in that Operational Area until the end of the war. Other living Comrades that he operated with during the war in that Zone were Group Captain Chikukwa, Retired Brigadier General Zabanyana, Lt Col Mango and Comrade Mike Ndekwere. Colonel Mhlanga was attested into the ZNA as a Private on 11 August 1980 and rose through the ranks Colonel in 2011. During his long and illustrious service, the late Senior Officer attended many courses.

During his illustrious career, the late Colonel Mhlanga held several appointments. He was appointed Defence Attaché to the Republic of Botswana from 2017 until his untimely death.

Besides military courses, the late Senior Officer was a holder of several professional credentials which include Masters in International Studies with the University of Zimbabwe and Masters in Developmental Studies with National University of Science and Technology.

For his continued dedication, selfless and exemplary service to the nation, the late Colonel Mhlanga was awarded the Liberation Medal, Independence Medal, Ten Years’ Service Medal, Long and Exemplary Service Medal, Mozambique Campaign Medal, Democratic Republic of Congo Campaign Medal and Commander of the Zimbabwe Order of Merit Award.

A funeral Parade will be held at the Zimbabwe Military Academy on Friday 22 April in his honour. He was a patriotic, loyal, humble, honest and enthusiastic Senior Officer whose leadership inspired both his peers and subordinates. He will therefore be greatly missed.

The late Colonel is survived by his wife Thandiwe and two children.

THERE is a possibility of counterfeit American dollars entering the South African market from Zimbabwe where the police discovered an outlet that produces fake money.

It is not yet known for how long the outlet has been in operation and how many fake banknotes have already entered the market.

The discovery followed the arrest earlier this week of a retired senior officer of the Zimbabwean Armed Forces who was allegedly found in possession of US$50 million in counterfeit money.

The 62-year-old retired colonel and two accomplices aged 47 and 53, were arrested by detectives in the Manicaland province on Monday.

They were travelling in two vehicles carrying 50 bags stuffed with 500 000 fake US$100 notes.

According to the independent news agency Zimbabwe Reports , police investigators have established that the counterfeit money was printed in a printing shop in Harare and the aim was to discreetly introduce the fake money into the Zimbabwean market what would, inevitably, affect neighbouring countries, mostly South Africa and Zambia which is the preferred destination for many Zimbabweans .

Kelly Khumalo’s son with Jub Jub was only three years old when Senzo Meyiwa was murdered in cold blood.

Speaking during an interview on eNCA in 2018, Kelly revealed that her son still remembers Senzo Meyiwa and the people who killed him as he was there when the footballer was murdered.

“My son remembers Senzo very well. He asks about him. Every now and then I need to make up a story because I feel he’s not ready to know what happened.

“At some point, he saw some guys who were put on TV and he said: ‘I don’t like those uncles. They killed my father’.

“My son was there. He remembers the people and what they looked like. That memory stayed with him until today,” Kelly Khumalo said.

ELEVEN more magistrates were sworn in yesterday, bringing the total to 247 and ensuring ever wider access to the basic justice available from these courts that handle the bulk of criminal and civil cases.

They were sworn in by Chief Magistrate Faith Mushure in Harare.

Mrs Mushure said almost every court station now had at least two magistrates minus Inyati, Matabeleland North, which has one because of lack of space to accommodate another magistrate.

“The Judicial Service Commission has several projects which are currently underway. We have Lupane courts which we hope to open soon maybe in the second quarter.

“We have Epworth which is at roof level. Gwanda has been lying idle for a long time and we’re happy that the contractor has moved on site and has resumed work.

“We have plans to have court in Glen Norah and we are engaging Harare city council for a suitable site. We have been given a hall but it had other uses and we are now engaging them for another site,” she said.

Mrs Mushure said magistrates courts had recorded an increase in cases since they resumed full operation following breaks induced by the Covid-19 lockdown beginning 2020.

“There have been an increased number of cases. For example, in the fourth quarter of 2021 provincial criminal courts received 22 510 cases and during the first quarter of 2022 they received 24 631.

“Civil courts fourth quarter 2021 received 19 147 cases and in the first quarter 2022 there were 28 227. There is a marked increase by almost 10 000 cases in the Civil Court,” she said.

Mrs Mushure said Zvishavane and Mt Darwin have now been designated as regional courts, allowing the top level of magistrates to preside, and more magistrates have been added to other courts like Mutare.

While cases in magistrates courts will not yet be filed electronically, the courts are near a lot of people and so have been designated as points where those without internet access can file for the higher courts.

Mrs Mushure said the new system was one of the JSC’s way of trying to reduce case backlogs and improve justice delivery in the country.

Harare City Council (HCC) has announced the shutting down of Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant to pave way for the replacement of a corroded reservoir feeder pipe and the installation of reservoir, suction and discharge valves at Warren Control. In a statement, seen by Pindula News, the local government authority said it is shutting down the waterworks from this Friday at 1600 hrs to Su day 24 April at 1400 hrs. PRESS NOTICE ON SHUTDOWN OF MORTON JAFFRAY WATER TREATMENT PLANT
We are shutting down the Morton Jaffray water Treatment Plant today from (1600hrs) to Sunday 24 April 2022 (1400hrs).
The plant closure is to allow for the replacement of a corroded reservoir feeder pipe and installation of reservoir, suction and discharge valves at Warren Control.

The works are expected to increase the number of pumps installed at Warren Control. This will increase the amount of water pumped to households.

During the shutdown other works that include repair works on trunk mains will be done to reduce physical water losses currently obtaining in the system.

According to a story published by Sunday World, Andile Mpisane and Sithelo’s breakup was ignited by the question of Coco’s true paternity. The publication also claimed that Andile took back the luxury BMW he had bought Sithelo a few months prior to their breakup.

It is not clear whether or not Andile went through with the paternity test or not, but at the moment Andile and Sithelo are co-parenting both Flo and Coco.

Were Sithelo Shozi and her children kicked out by Mamkhize?

It has always been clear that Andile Mpisane’s mother- Shauwn Mkhize was never fond of Sithelo Shozi and she never hid that fact. Mamkhize claimed that she did not understand why Sithelo was with her son.

In March 2022, it was reported that Mamkhize had kicked Sithelo and her children out of the family-owned apartment that Sithelo was living in and put the apartment on sale.

However, the reports were dismissed by Mamkhize who said that she was committed to taking care of all her grandchildren and that she would never kick her out of the Izinga Estate property.

The reality star further clarified that she had no grudge against the mother of her grandchildren and that she accepted her with all her flaws.

Also addressing the rumour that she had forced Andile to marry Tamia, Mamkhize made it clear that she would never choose a woman for her son but that she was supportive of his decisions and choices.

Opposition aligned journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has reported that the newly elected Harare CCC Councillors in Harare have blocked a 1 February resolution by the Information and Publicity Committee authorizing US$136,465 465 in accommodation and allowances for a Trade Fair trip to Bulawayo next week and a further $8000 for incidentals and a party.

The resolution was taken when Councillors aligned to Nelson Chamisa were recalled by MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora.

Kelly Khumalo has seen the worst days of her life since the murder of her then-boyfriend and footballer Senzo Meyiwa. She has been scrutinized, dissected, turned upside down, and shaken on her boots while Mzansi at large demanded her to be behind bars. It has been a whirlwind of emotions and a roller-coaster while wanting justice to be served in this case. However, in a turn of events, five accused men have seen their days in court and have even been charged already.

Tweeps are up in arms while they are calling for the cancel culture on Kelly Khumalo. This reason for this is of course Kelly Khumalo being somehow implicated as Senzo Meyiw’s girlfriend and not only that but she was also resent when the murder occurred.

According to Kelly Khumalo’s representative Magdalene Moonsany, speaking to eNCA reporter Slindile Masikane, Moonsamy has made it known that if the court calls for Kelly Khumalo to take the stand, she will be good and ready.

“That will depend on the prosecution, if the prosecution requires her as a witness in court, she is a witness in the matter and she is being compliant and cooperative in the matter, So if she is required to be present in court then she will be” said Magdalene Moonsamy.
