Filmmaker Mmabatho Montsho on Tuesday took to Twitter to clarify that she is not behind the Twitter account @Mmaps_ThePro, which has her as its profile picture. The Twitter account @Mmaps_ThePro is known for stirring drama and sharing controversial thoughts and not everyone is aware that the actress is not the one tweeting.

Mmabatho Montsho

Mmapula on Tuesday shared her two cents on Nomzamo’s heartbreak, saying that the former Isibaya actress is a “child” and that she would get to “our level one day”.

Mmabatho Montsho

The former Generations actress must have caught wind of Mmapula’s latest tweets as she asked to be left out of the “other conversation”.

One follow decided to be spicy and let Mmabatho know that Mmapula is more “revolutionary” than her and in response reminded the tweep that this is not a competition.

Tweeps also advised Mmabatho to get the account removed because the tweets were already been quoted as hers.

Sadtu says schools are not ready to reopen as govt prepares to ease lockdown

As the government prepares to ease some lockdown regulations from Friday, the South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) was adamant schools were not ready to reopen.

The union and many parents are worried about health and safety measures amid reports that pupils in some grades will be allowed to go back to school from next week.

It’s been an anxious wait for parents and unions on when and exactly how the government plans to reopen schools in the country, as some industries would be allowed to operate when level 4 lockdown regulations kick in on Friday.

With overcrowding, infrastructure, and sanitation problems in many schools in South Africa, Sadtu’s Nomusa Cembi said they needed assurance from the government that these issues would be addressed.

“And we should be assured that there would be proper facilitations at our schools.”

She said as things currently stood, many schools were not ready for any kind of activity during the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to a draft plan that has been making the rounds, the government allegedly plans to implement a phased approach, that may see matrics and grades 7s return to school from next week.

However, education officials have not been able to confirm this, saying a planned briefing would provide South Africans with more clarity.

Mutare set to receive returnees coming from Mozambique’s port Beira by ship

Mutare set to receive returnees coming from Mozambique’s port Beira by ship. Members of the provincial Covid-19 taskforce, led by Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba and Public Service Commission (PSC) Secretary Ambassador Jonathan Wutawunashe, yesterday toured Rowa Training Centre, which is one of the quarantine facilities in the province. Thirteen returnees from Mozambique are housed at the facilities.

A large group of returnees on its way to Beira by ship is expected in Mutare soon, prompting the provincial Covid-19 taskforce to identify more facilities that can be used as quarantine centres.

Dr Gwaradzimba, who chairs the provincial task force, said though the number of people returning through Beira was still to be established, five other institutions had so far been identified to be used as quarantine centres should Rowa overflow.

“We are running around trying to establish as many centres as possible because we are expecting that we might have many people coming in from abroad through the port of Beira by ship. We have not received the numbers yet, but we are just preparing in the event that we get such numbers. The Immigration Department and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade will alert us once the number is established so that we are prepared,” she said.

However, Dr Gwaradzimba could not disclose where the returning residents were coming from. The task force had approached Mutare Teachers’ College, Marymount Teachers’ College, Mutare Polytechnic, Forestry Industrial Training Centre and Toronto Training Centre to accommodate the returnees.

Priority is being given to centres around Mutare for now, although centres have been identified in all districts to cater for returning residents who come in through other ports of entry.

Manicaland has two official ports of entry that are functional; Forbes in Mutare and Espungabeira in Chipinge, but there are many other unofficial crossing points used by communities in Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

Dr Gwaradzimba said security forces were on high alert to ensure anyone using these points is quarantined and tested. She said the initial batch of returnees to be quarantined at Rowa would be released after 14 days once PCR test results are done on samples taken from them prove that they are COVID-19 negative.

Rowa Training Centre is run by the Public Service Commission and has a capacity to hold 45 people at any given time. Ambassador Wutawunashe said the tour of the facility would enable them to identify areas that need to be addressed for it to be ready to cater for more residents.

“We want to take an all stakeholders approach to see what needs to be done to improve the facility so that it becomes more amenable for use. We also want to assess how our staff can be protected as they take care of the residents. So far protective equipment has been issued to the staff and great care is being taken in preparing food and taking care of the needs of the residents,” he said.

Actress Omuhle Gela has received pearls of wisdom and support from fellow stars Bonang Matheba, Ayanda Thabethe and Linda Mtoba after she revealed she was hacked. Omuhle released a statement last week explaining that a breach of trust in her inner circle led to her being hacked when “someone” who had access to her personal information created fake accounts that were used for malicious purposes. The actress, who has previously starred on “The Queen”, expressed how disappointed she was that the culprit was allegedly someone she trusted.

Omuhle Gela

Taking to Instagram, she said: “So long story short, unfortunately someone who had access to my personal information, passwords and devices because of our trusted work relationship, was unhappy with a little hiccup we had and went as far as accessing my social media platforms.

Omuhle Gela

“(This person) texted a few people and direct messaged people on my personal accounts and other fake accounts using one of my personal email addresses and my devices she had access to because of work. They went as far as using personal information they knew about me to cause a stir, asked one person for money, and offended a few people. She added that she would be opening a case of defamation of character and was busy consulting her legal team.

Omuhle Gela

“I’m getting legal help and finally putting this situation to bed. My twitter account has been retrieved and I no longer use the email address that was hacked. One of the fake accounts was linked to my device and to the culprit’s device. I’m working on changing my passwords. I’ll be opening a case of defamation of character. Apologies again to the victims of this unfortunate situation,” Omuhle said.

Bonang Matheba commented on the post saying, “Make sure your staff sign NDAs. From the first minute they start work. Sorry about all this baby. Strength. Linda Mtoba said, “Wow people are so disappointing”.

Tobacco marketing season opens today

Tobacco marketing season opens today. A senior Government official is expected to preside over the opening ceremony at Tobacco Sales Floor (TSF). The tobacco industry and farmers have confirmed their readiness for the opening of the selling season, but low volumes of the crop are expected in the first two days as farmers get accustomed to guidelines set up by TIMB.

The 2020 tobacco marketing season officially starts today, with the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) expressing satisfaction with the level of preparedness at all auction floors, which have complied with Covid-19 preventive measures, including setting up clinics and isolation sites.

This marketing season will be different from previous years that were associated with large crowds of farmers, their family members, stakeholders in the industry, vendors and businesspeople, among others.

The number of people at the floors will now be minimised to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Not all growers will be allowed to attend sales. Growers with less than 100 bales per sale are not allowed to attend the sales and shall nominate a TIMB-registered grower representative.

Nominated TIMB-registered grower representatives at the floors shall make decisions on behalf of the absent growers. Farmers are the ones who nominate their representatives at booking, including formal agreements through legally signed affidavits by the nominator.

A visit yesterday by The Herald to the three major auction floors — Tobacco Sales Floor (TSF), Boka Tobacco Floors (BTF) and Premier Tobacco Floor (PTF) — revealed that the operators had put in place Covid-19 preventive measures that included footbaths, sanitisers on all entry points, masks for farmers, resting sites to promote maintenance of social distance, isolations sites and clinics among others.

TIMB chief executive, Dr Andrew Matibiri, yesterday confirmed that all was set for the official opening and said awareness campaigns on the new regulations of Covid-19 preventive measures were continuing.

“Auction floors will open tomorrow(today) and contract sales on Thursday. Deliveries are still low. We are continuing with awareness campaigns to farmers and we are confident the message of the Covid-19 preventive measures will get to all farmers,” he said.

BTF managing director, Mrs Chido Nyakudya said they will be operating from three sites; Harare, Rusape and Karoi.

“We are expecting a slow start because of the new requirements that were communicated to farmers late. We are expecting deliveries to start picking next week. Normally farmers also test the market before bringing their tobacco for sale.

“BTF is educating farmers through mobile text messages on the new TIMB regulations that are meant for their safety,” she said. PTF chairman, Mr Owen Murambi, said they were geared for the start of the season and had satisfied TIMB requirements.

“We also have five boom sprayers for sanitising the premises. We have introduced a conveyor belt to limit the number of people. Face masks will be available for farmers and staff and no farmer will be given accommodation at the auction floor.

“We are not expecting crowds and we have destroyed wooden stalls and flea market sites,” he said. Zimbabwe Farmers Union (ZFU) director Mr Paul Zakariya said irrigated tobacco was ready for marketing and work was underway to reap and cure.

“As such, cash flows are beginning to get stressed. Farmers are trying to familiarise themselves with the market adjustments that have been made to deal with Covid-19. To ensure farmers are adequately informed, all media platforms must carry the necessary awareness messages,” he said.

France’s top two divisions will not resume this season

France’s top two divisions will not resume this season. Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said the 2019-20 sporting season was over as he announced plans to ease France’s coronavirus lockdown on 11 May. The Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons will not resume after France banned all sporting events, including behind closed doors, until September.

French football’s governing body had hoped to resume the season on 17 June and finish the campaign on 25 July. Football was suspended indefinitely in France on 13 March.

It is not yet known whether Ligue de Football Professional (LFP) will choose to abandon the season with no promotion or relegation and no champions or base the outcome of the campaign on current standings. Defending champions Paris St-Germain are 12 points clear of Marseille at the top of Ligue 1, with 10 rounds of matches and one outstanding fixture left to play.

Toulouse are bottom of the table, 17 points from safety, and 10 points behind Amiens. Nimes are 18th and in the relegation play-off spot, three points behind St Etienne in 17th.

Ligue 1

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi said after the announcement: “We respect of course the French government decision – we plan on competing in the Champions League with Uefa agreement – wherever and whenever it is held.

“If it is not possible to play in France we will play our matches abroad subject to the best conditions for our players and the safety of all our staff.”

The top five sides in Ligue 2 are separated by just four points, with Lorient and Lens currently occupying the automatic promotion spots. The LFP had previously met on 10 April and voted to resume the Ligue 1 season. However, Philippe said: “The 2019-20 season of professional sports, including football, will not be able to resume.

“It will be possible, on sunny days, to practice an individual sporting activity outdoors, obviously respecting the rules of social distancing. “It will not be possible, neither to practice sport in covered places nor team or contact sports.”

European leagues have until 25 May to tell European football’s governing body Uefa whether they want to complete or cancel their seasons.

Javier Tebas, president of Spain’s La Liga, said after the announcement in France: “I do not understand why there would more danger in playing football behind closed doors, with all precautionary measures than working on an assembly line, being on a fishing boat on the high seas, etc.

“If important economic sectors cannot restart, in a safe and controlled manner, they could end up disappearing. That could happen to professional football. In other countries teams are already training, that’s the example to follow.

“In Spain, football is an important economic driver that we need to reactivate like many others. We continue to focus on this reactivation, in a responsible manner and adhering to health recommendations, as soon as possible.”

The Dutch top flight was abandoned on Friday with no promotion or relegation and no champions, while on Monday Belgian clubs postponed a vote on confirming the cancellation of their top flight until next week.

The head of the Dutch FA told BBC Sport he thinks it is “very doubtful” the Premier League will be able to complete the 2019-20 campaign.

Uefa has said it will use on-field performance to determine which clubs make up next season’s European club competitions. If league seasons cannot be finished, it said national associations would need to select clubs to qualify for Europe.

Madagascar opens schools after claiming to have discovered cure for COVID-19

Madagascar opens schools after claiming to have discovered a cure for COVID-19. Many grimacing at its bitter taste, the students swallowed the drink and entered the school to resume classes, where they were now seated one to a desk instead of two, for safer distance. Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina promoted the drink, Covid Organics, on national television saying it will “change the course of history.”

As Their high school reopened after being closed for a month due to the coronavirus, students in Madagascar’s capital city were given face masks and a small bottle of a herbal extract they were told to drink to protect them from COVID-19.

There are no approved drugs for COVID-19 and numerous treatments and vaccines are currently being tested around the world. Madagascar, an Indian Ocean island nation of 26 million people, currently has 128 recorded cases of Covid-19 and no deaths.

The herbal drink has not been scientifically tested and there’s no proof it works against COVID-19. But the president is enthusiastically promoting it. “What we want to do today is to popularize this drink to protect our population,” said Rajoelina on television and then drank a bottle of the concoction.

The drink is being distributed for free in some schools that are reopening and in poor neighbourhoods. Elsewhere it is being sold for about 30 cents for an 11-ounce bottle.
The drink was developed by the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research, a private organization that for more than 30 years has researched the uses of Madagascar’s traditional medicines. The label on the bottle does not list the ingredients but the president said it is made from artemisia, a bitterroot that is used in some malaria drugs.
Medical experts are critical of the drink, pointing out that no scientific tests have been done on it.

“The scientific evidence that this is effective has not been proved. It’s likely that it could actually harm the health of the population, particularly that of children,” said the president of Madagascar’s Academy of Medicine, Marcel Razanamparany, in a statement.

With no approved drugs for COVID-19, some people around the world are resorting to unproven therapies, sometimes with the backing of government leaders. Rigorous testing of herbal and other traditional remedies is needed, say experts.

The U.S. National Institutes of Health has warned against alternative medicine — including certain herbal therapies and teas — for treating or preventing COVID-19, saying there was no evidence they work and some may be unsafe.

“It’s the responsibility of those who make a herbal drink to show the scientific evidence that their claims are valid,” said Dr. Stephen Barrett, a retired psychiatrist who runs Quackwatch, a website about unproven medical therapies.

“This is a worldwide problem, with untested products being promoted as cures,” he said. “The money spent producing this might be better spent in Madagascar vaccinating children against measles and other childhood diseases.”

This cake is so simple and totally delicious. Making it with homemade jam makes it extra special.

Ingredients
For the jam
500g/1lb 2oz jam sugar
1 lemon, zest and juice
500g/1lb 2oz fresh strawberries, hulled, cut in half only if large
For the cake
oil, for greasing the tins
flour, for dusting the tins
250g/9oz butter
250g/9oz caster sugar
½ tsp vanilla essence
4 free-range eggs
250g/9oz self-raising flour, sifted
175ml/6fl oz double cream, whipped
250g/9oz strawberries
2-3 tbsp icing sugar

Sponge cake

Method
For the jam, heat the sugar, lemon juice and zest and three tablespoons water in a large pan, slowly, until the sugar has melted.

Add the strawberries and stir gently.

Bring the jam up to the boil and cook for 3-4 minutes, or up to 10 minutes if you prefer a thicker jam.

Check the temperature with a sugar thermometer – it should reach 105C/220F.

Grease and flour two 20cm/8in sandwich tins.

Combine the butter, sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl or food processor, and mix well to a creamy consistency.

Slowly beat in the eggs one by one.

Fold in the sifted flour then pour the mixture into the prepared tins.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until the sponge is well-risen, golden-brown and springs back when pressed.

Remove the cakes from the oven, turn them out of their tins onto a wire rack and leave to cool.

Spread one cake with strawberry jam, followed by a layer of whipped cream.

Layer on the fresh strawberries then place the other cake on top.

Dust with icing sugar to finish.

A great way to use up all those odds and ends from the fridge. Raw root vegetables, leafy veg, cooked leftover vegetables, pasta and rice can all be thrown into the pan. Just make sure they are added in the right order, so raw vegetables that need a bit of cooking go in first, then green vegetables and finally cooked ingredients. Top the cooked soup with any cheese you have handy or spoonfuls of pesto.

Ingredients
2 tbsp oil (olive, sunflower or vegetable)
1 onion, finely chopped
1–2 sticks celery, trimmed and thinly sliced (optional)
400g/14oz tin chopped tomatoes
1 chicken or vegetable stock cube
1 tsp dried mixed herbs or dried oregano
roughly three mugs of assorted vegetables (could include raw or cooked vegetables, such as carrots, celery, courgette, leek, peas or cabbage, peeled and cut into small chunks)
400g/14oz tin borlotti or cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
½–1 mug cooked pasta or rice
Parmesan, or other cheese, grated (if you have a leftover parmesan rind, it can be used to flavour the soup too!)
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Easy minestrone soup

Method
Pour the oil into a large non-stick saucepan or flameproof casserole. Add the onion and celery, if using, and fry gently for 5 minutes, or until softened and lightly browned, stirring often.

Add the chopped tomatoes and refill the tomatoes tin twice with cold water and pour into the pan. Add the chicken or vegetable stock cube. Add the dried mixed herbs or oregano (along with the parmesan rind if using). Add any hard, raw vegetable pieces, such as carrot, parsnip, squash or potato and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

When the harder vegetables have softened, add the raw green vegetables, such as small broccoli florets, shredded kale or cabbage, green beans and courgette. Simmer for 3 minutes more, stirring occasionally.

Add any cooked vegetables or beans you are adding with the cooked pasta or rice. Simmer for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and lots of freshly ground black pepper. Ladle into deep bowls and serve topped with grated cheese.

God approved my relationship – Actress Letoya Makhene who just turned to a lesbian reveals

The actress is in a place right now where she can not be moved by anyone’s words against the new life path she decided to take. I’m grateful for the LGBTI+ community who have just taken me and embraced me.

Actress and musician Letoya Makhene is not fazed by the backlash and opinions being shared about her relationship with businesswomen Lebohang Keswa.

The couple got tongues wagging earlier this month after Sunday World reported on their romance. They later confirmed their relationship on social media.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE this week, Letoya said she has a way of dealing with the backlash through deep prayer.

Letoya Makhene

“The backlash is something that I prepared myself for spiritually and is something that God prepared me for. One of the messages that I went to bed with, the night before the article came out, was I literally heard my God saying to me, ‘peace, be still’. When the message came in for me I knew exactly what I needed to do.”

She was concerned about what her father, veteran musician Blondie Makhene, and children would think about her relationship, but said she got love and support from them.

“I feel amazing and grateful to be mentored by my father. Other people have access to their mentors over the weekends or when their mentor says they can come. I have access to my mentor every day, I can even call him at 3 am in the morning if I want to. My dad is super gifted and talented and we work very well together. We don’t buy each others’ faces and we are about creating a good product that we both know that our names are on it”

She also thanked the LGBTQI+ community for the love and support they have shown the couple.

Letoya is now focusing on her music and has released a new single.

She has been in studio since January to record the single called Ngihawukele.

The song has been close to her heart for many years and she is grateful that the single is finally out.

“I want to give people music that they can listen to decades from now. My fans are loving it,” she added.

Cop arrested for asking a $50-bribe at roadblock from a man taking sick mom to the hospital. Constable Tatenda Mtigwa was not asked to plead when he appeared before a Masvingo magistrate on Tuesday. He is accused of criminal abuse of duty as a public officer. Mtigwa was remanded out of custody to 26 May on $100 bail.

A Masvingo police officer deployed at a roadblock meant to enforce compliance during the national lockdown was arrested Tuesday after allegedly demanding a $50 bribe to give passage to a motorist who was ferrying his sick mother to the hospital.

Prosecutor Edmond Mapope told court that Constable Mtigwa was deployed on operation COVID-19 lockdown roadblocks and was manning the Masvingo-Mbalabala road in the company of two other police officers and two soldiers.

Court heard that around at around 11 am, he stopped an unregistered vehicle driven by one Rangarirai Chikozho. Chikozho was heading towards Masvingo city centre ferrying his sick mother to the hospital.

Court was further told that Mtigwa then asked if Chikozho had a document that permitted him to leave his home to which the latter said he had none.

Court heard that Mtigwa then instructed Chikozho to return to where he was coming from, but the driver pleaded with the officer to be allowed to continue with his journey as his mother needed medical attention.

It is further alleged that Mtigwa then demanded $50 bribe from the motorist to allow him passage and was given the money is five-dollar notes.

The incident was observed by Mtigwa’s seniors, Superintendents Boyce and Mubwere who were driving a marked police vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

On seeing the senior officers approaching him, Mtigwa quickly threw back the money into Chikozho’s car, but it was too late to conceal the crime as the alert senior officers had witnessed the entire transaction.

Chikozho was questioned and confessed to giving Mtigwa some. The police officer was immediately arrested.

Avocado salads are quick and easy to make and will keep you full for longer. This vegan salad is made with cannellini beans, tomatoes and fresh herbs. Great for lunch or a light supper.

Ingredients
¼ red onion, thinly sliced
400g tin cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
1 large avocado, peeled, stoned and thickly sliced
100g/3½oz cherry tomatoes, quartered
20g/¾oz fresh basil, roughly chopped
¼ lemon, juice only
½ tbsp extra virgin olive oil
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Avocado salad

Method
Soak the onion in a small bowl of cold water for 5 minutes to remove some of the heat.

Toss the cannellini beans, avocado, cherry tomatoes and basil together in a bowl.

Drain the onion and pat dry with kitchen paper then mix into the salad.

Drizzle over the lemon juice and oil, season with salt and pepper and serve.

Recipe Tips
Cannellini beans are easy to get hold of, but this salad would also work with any white bean, such as haricot or chickpeas.

When they’re in season, chopping a couple of big, red tomatoes would be a lot cheaper than cherry tomatoes, but outside the summer months they’re the sweetest tomatoes you can buy.

If you don’t have fresh basil, coriander would also work.

Actor Khaya Dladla speaks out for the first time after leaving Uzalo, spills the beans about his relationship

After disappearing from our TV screens, people would really love to hear about the actor’s life after the popular show and how he is doing!

Multi-talented TV actor and radio host Khaya Dladla, who was thrust into the spotlight after he bagged the flamboyant and quick-witted character of GC on, SABC1‘s fan-favorite popular sudser Uzalo, has moved on with his life. This follows after his character was written off the story-line, on the show.

The talented actor who dabbles as an entrepreneur and a radio host, recently got up close and personal with ZAlebs about his illustrious career in the limelight and his thriving radio career, after playing the renowned character on Uzalo.

Khaya who started his career in the entertainment business 23 years ago said his plan was not to be on TV. He elaborated that he saw himself dominating the airwaves and being famous for his beautiful voice on the radio.

But he was thrust into TV when said Duma Ndlovu, the producer of Uzalo said to him he must audition on Uzalo and he landed his big break on the show. The entertainment industry is known for the glitz and glam and Khaya says it can either make you or break you.

Khaya Dladla

Speaking on whether the industry has always been what he expected he said:

“It is exactly what I thought it would be, definitely not easy, people don’t know, it has never been an easy ride, it has been a hectic ride. Some of the projects you work on are more profitable, some carry more weight some are more meaningful and some are more of a lesson”

“From working with different producers and directors you learn that okay I like this style of working so when I to get to this point I want to work like this person and you move to another place you realise that these ones they work like this and I don’t like that, then I won’t keep it, so every day you learn and also selective hearing is very important because also there are things you hear about yourself that you choose to stay away from, the industry is polluted so you must check carefully.”

Khaya Dlala had a successful run on Uzalo, however, his character was written off on the show. The flamboyant actor won the hearts of many South Africans, and became a household name. Speaking about his departure on the show he said it really hit him hard.

“The thing is with me leaving the show, I didn’t process it because I wasn’t told I was leaving the show, so there was no time for me to digest that in the next three months I won’t be on this show because, no one said anything to me about not coming back. Other actors were told that they won’t be coming back but I was not,” he said.

Khaya was reduced to a call actor on the show, but his future hanged in the balance as he was not told when his services will be needed. He said he has moved on with his life because he can’t hold back onto that.

“At the end of the day, there was no book or line in my life that said I would work for Uzalo and I did there was no book that said I would stay on Uzalo for 20 years. It was one of those things that wake up and you need to move on and I’m so glad because I needed that break, I think everything happens for a reason.”

Khaya said he acknowledges the fact that shows have seasons and they can’t have the same faces forever but, how a talent departs from a show must be done in the correct way.

“When I was let go on Uzalo, there was no reason to say that maybe I was troublesome, I was so professional, I wrote lines for GC, I prepped for everything and my scenes. People called and said I have been fired. If I was like I’m not fired, I’m now a call actor, meanwhile Khaya has been fired because it cannot happen that you put someone on standby for 1 year,” he said.

Khaya said if he did not move on from the Uzalo saga, he would be stuck in one place and heavily in debt.

“If I was stupid I would have waited and end up being poor because, who was going to pay for my cars and house? Lucky for me I was able to pull through a radio gig on Gagasi FM, whilst I was still on Uzalo.

Khaya Dladla

Khaya said it is unfair for soapies to say they have ran out of the story-line because you create a story-line.

“You can’t say you ran out of a story-line that is nonsense, then you do not have the right writers, you can create stories, I created stories for GC and other characters, I gave them stories and other actors would come to portray their characters but I added story-lines to their characters”

He said what was weird was that they removed him after the SAFTA nomination and he felt sidelined. He said fans cannot forget about his character.

“It is so sad because people tag me on stuff that I have done they always tag me on GCs videos and I’m like can someone take this video down please, something that I did 3 years ago still resurfaces as current but I guess people love what they saw.”

Khaya said producers of Uzalo to date they haven’t called him for work. He said maybe the channel did not want him instead of the producers “What people see on TV is literally 2 per cent of what happens behind the scenes, while there is drama on set there are divas and actors who are not treated the same”

“I noticed that there was something dodgy going on between our talks with the production of Uzalo, after that, I told Gagasi FM that, I’m ready to move to another slot because, I already had a show there.”

Khaya said he is open to working with Uzalo again should he receive a call from them.

“If I get a call to go to work, I will evaluate to see if the work is there, how long am I going do it, and accept it, whether it is on Uzalo, Generations or The Queen Mzansi, if its work it works, I don’t work for people I work for myself.”

Khaya said he has found a home, on the Durban based radio station.”I get respected so much, Gagasi treats me like gold, I respect what I do, I’m always on time and I give myself to everything I do” he said.

Speaking about fame after the show and the fame of other actors who were on the show who disappeared on the limelight, Khaya said: ” Some of the actors on the show are probably broke but those who disappeared have more money.”

He said fame does not pay for your bills, but working hard and exploring different avenues to create revenue pays for your bills.

“Fame does not help with anything it just brings you stress and Twitter drags you and there are people who get into the entertainment business for fame but they don’t understand how the business operates,”

Khaya has his eyes set on having his own breakfast show on radio, but he is working hard to perfect his skills.

Khaya who owns Khaya Entertainment Guru his talent and management company, has been busy with his casting agency on the side and has done different campaigns to sustain his life.

Khaya also has his own sneaker line. “I have all these little pockets to sustain me now, a lot of people are at home as production companies are closed and they are not making any money but some of us are”

He said just like your Zandi Nhlapho who were on TV, now they are producers and business owners because they knew they cannot be on TV forever new talent comes and go, so producers are moving on and dealing with numbers.

Khaya said he will be coming back to our small screens soon.

“It is happening very soon, I’m in talks with different production companies, I’m trying to run away from playing the same character, I always want to try different things and influence my creativity. I’m currently in talks with Mbongeni Ngema for another production but I cannot disclose much,” he said.

Khaya Dladla

Khaya said to date he still believes he is not a great actor, but every day is a work in progress. “I still believe I’m, not a great actor if I were to play another character and it slaps me I would judge myself from that character”

Khaya who hosted Men Council on BET Africa said the first episode gave me a headache but he grew and prepped for it and became a better presenter.

Asked on when season 2 of the show is coming he said, he does not know where he is currently standing with the producer of the show Pepsi Pokane, because he is one of the producers of Uzalo.

Khaya said he has chosen to venture into talent management, because he wanted to manage his own brand, he said he was tired of people who wanted to make a big bucks out of him and he would end up with small amount of money.

Khaya manages numerous actors who want to land roles on TV. He said he planned his 2020, 2 years ago and was hoping to slay this year, but the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted some of his plans.

Khaya said he is currently working with the Department of Health, on a pop-up clinic for the LGBTQI community. The clinic is a space for them to feel comfortable when they seek medical attention, as some often face discrimination in public clinics.

Khaya who is head over heels in love with his boyfriend Mercutio Buthelezi said he gets annoyed when people ask if he is going to get married soon. He said this happened a lot after Somizi’s wedding. Khaya said why do we always need to have a next, everyone has their own pace.

He said he is content with his decision of coming out to the public about his relationship and revealed the reason on why he decided to go public with it, “I started not to enjoy my DMs, they started to be stuff that I needed to report and it was proper harassment for me, and the level of disrespect from people who would literally pull me on the side to kiss me I decided I’ve had enough with it”.

ED facing tough lockdown decision. President Emmerson Mnangagwa faces the tough choice of balancing the health of the populace against the country’s economic interest when he reviews the current national lockdown this week.

Players in the health sector do not want the lockdown relaxed but economists have warned that the economic crisis would worsen if the President does not significantly relax the regulations.

Senior Hospital Doctors Association of Zimbabwe secretary-general Arron Musara said that because Government had not met the target of the number of people to test, an extension of the lockdown would be the only way to go.
