Ngarivhume was speaking in an exclusive interview with NewZimbabwe during which he hinted that the demonstrations will be nationwide “to demand the availing of the Unites States dollar for all citizens, end of poverty, equality and better health care.” He added: We are preparing notifications to police, which we will send out early next week.
Jacob Ngarivhume, leader of the opposition Transform Zimbabwe who is organising the “#ZANUPFMustGo,” and “#31July” demonstrations has said the protests will proceed whether authorities sanction them or not. He speaks when government officials, including President Mnangagwa, have hinted that lockdown regulations will be tightened in some parts of the country amid a surge in coronavirus cases.
Our intention is to come up with one national notification which we will give to the police command and others which will address specific district police centres. But what you need to bear in mind is that this is a mere notification and not an application for approval and whether or not they permit, the demonstrations will proceed.
The demonstrations have also been endorsed by a number of opposition leaders and parties including MDC Alliance, Norton legislator (independent) Temba Mliswa and ousted ZANU PF youth leader, Godfrey Tsenengamu.
