Drama at MDC-T as some members sue President Khupe over the upcoming Congress. The 2 members Gilbert Kagodora and Nason Mamuse sued Khupe and cited, Morgen Komichi and Abednico Bhebhe as respondents after the party’s secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora said the legislators they recalled were not allowed to contest for the positions they previously held.
2 MDC T members have approached the High Court in a bid to compel Thokozani Khupe to release vital information pertaining to the upcoming MDC T Congress slated for December 2020, The standard reports.
The submission submitted on behalf of Kagodora and Mamuse seen by the publication reads in part: The details of the venue, time or platform for the meeting have not been advised to applicants, who are entitled to attend such meetings.
If a proper notice is not issued, and if the details of the meetings are not shared with the applicants, they stand to be excluded from the internal democratic processes of their party in violation of the constitution of the party.
The dates for the meetings are close. The matter cannot wait. Respondents also announced that they had prepared a database of the electoral college to be used for the extraordinary congress.
They further stated that all persons, who had been recalled from parliament or councils had lost party membership and were not entitled to attend the extraordinary congress.
Meanwhile, Khupe who recently bounced back in parliament is set to get more perks as the president is reportedly planning to increase perks for the leader of opposition in parliament.
