Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko is now the acting president, taking over from his counterpart Emmerson Mnangagwa, who has been acting since President Robert Mugabe left for his annual leave last month
In a statement yesterday, Information ministry permanent secretary George Charamba said Mphoko will be acting president up to the end of this month.
Mphoko assumes the capacity of the acting president from tomorrow (today), 10th January, 2017, in the absence of… the president …, who is still on his traditional annual leave. …Mphoko will act up to the end of this month when… the president is expected back in the office,” he said.
