A political analyst Pedzisai Ruhanya has said the ruling party Zanu PF will be in charge of government with or without President Robert Mugabe gauging on the outcomes of the Bikita West elections which were conducted on Saturday January 21.
Ruhanya said the Bikita by-election outcome has a bigger story; unless there are tectonic shifts in opposition politics and their tomfoolery and kindergarten behaviour.
“With or without President Mugabe, Zanu PF will be in charge after 2018. The idea of cherry picking coalition partners and excluding others on grounds of hatred and small politics will result in huge electoral defeat,” he said.
He said MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai, People’s Democratic Party leader Tendai Biti, National Constitutional Assembly leader Mavambo Kusile leader Simba Makoni, Zapu Leader Dumiso Dabengwa and others need to put their numbers and ideas together to confront the system.
“It is not Mujuru or Chivasa who lost in Bikita but the collective opposition. Those numbers are collectively needed where a swing situation against Zanu PF arises in a bigger election such as 2018. Magnanimous leadership is required in this interregnum. No room for politics of positions,” he said.
