A Zvishavane traffic cop was arrested on Wednesday by anti-corruption officers after demanding a bribe from a motorist.
Sources familiar with the development allege that constable Mafuta demanded $150 bribe from a dentist identified as Nyamapanzi who was involved in an accident 2 weeks ago.
The accused told doctor Nyamapanzi to pay $150 to avoid going to jail, the doctor agreed to pay the amount on a later date.
“The complainant then filed a police report at Zvishavane CID. After filing a report doctor Nyamapanzi called the accused and agreed to meet at a venue where he was finally arrested after receiving the bribe,” said the source.
According to the source, constable Mafura is currently assisting police with investigations.
