Prominent gospel musician, Mathias Mhere continues to support fellow musicians by featuring on their albums. In his latest show of support the “Favour” hit-maker has collaborated with talented gospel diva, Rumbie Chareka Gatawa on a track, “Nyasha”, featured on her latest album “Wedzerai Nyasha”. This is not the first time that the two have worked together, with their work relations having started way back in 2013 when Gatawa released her debut offering “ZvinoitaNyasha”.
And it will not be last collaboration for Mhere who is passionate about assisting other musicians.
“He is passionate about music and working with him is always worthwhile and enriching since he is determined to see other musicians grow to new levels,” said the Greendale-based songstress.
Mhere said he was happy to work with Gatawa.
“Music is universal. When it comes to gospel music, it doesn’t matter which background you are from as long we are singing for the same Lord, our language is the same.
“I am happy to have worked with Gatawa, she is such a talented musician, and it is a matter of time before her career blossoms. As musicians we should support and encourage each other,” he said.
Apart from Mhere, some of the big names that played their role to make the album a success — judging from the airplay it is receiving — include prominent music producer Lyton Ngolomi who was the consultant producer.
Fast-rising music producer, Gibson Makumbe, who recorded Mhere’s latest album “Double Double” among other big projects, produced the album while another veteran music producer, did the track “Nyasha” on which Mhere is featured.
Gatawa’s husband, Tinevimbo Gatawa, composed all the songs on the album.
“Wedzerai Nyasha’ is centred on the grace of God, and this is the same theme that also runs through our first album ‘Zvinoita Nyasha’,” said Tinevimbo who also manages the singer.
Some of the songs on the eight-track album include “The Truth”, “Hatirwi Nenyama”, “Tenda”, “Uchange Uripi?”, “Muri Mutsvene” and “Ndabvuma”.
It was recorded at Divine Records which the couple runs from their Greendale base. The album was released together with a DVD for “Zvinoita Nyasha
