Bereaved Kuwadzana family blames actor Timmy for the accident that killed their relative. Clement Madzivire (33) succumbed to injuries sustained in a road traffic accident along Bulawayo Road, near the Kuwadzana Roundabout.
A Harare family has accused television personality Timothy Tapfumaneyi of allegedly being complicit in the death of one of their members. Madzivire, who is survived by his wife and four-month-old child, was buried in Harare on Monday.
He suffered serious injuries in an accident in which a car, which the family claims was being driven by Tapfumaneyi, of the Timmy na Bonzo fame, rammed into a kombi. Another injured member of the family is in the Intensive Care Unit at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
However, there are reports Tapfumaneyi was a passenger in the car. Madzivire’s relatives claim Timmy was at fault. They have reported him to the police, under case number OB 4995756. Speaking to H-Metro yesterday, Learnmore — the elder brother of the late Clement, said he was not happy with the way the issue was being handled.
“We were surprised that days after the accident happened, we are still being referred from one person to another at the police station. “We want justice to prevail. “At the police, we were told to have a round-table discussion with Timmy, but what is the round-table for?
“We just need justice to be served,” said Learnmore. He said he showed the police “proof” that Timmy was responsible for the accident but he was not being taken seriously. “We are deep in mourning and when we ask questions, we are being brushed off.
“The powers that be should ensure that justice is delivered,” said Learnmore. Contacted yesterday, Timmy told H-Metro he was not behind the wheels when the accident occurred.
“I was not driving,” he said. “I was just a passenger and, therefore, it is not my duty to report the case. “The law states that the one driving should report the case.”
However, when he was interviewed, soon after the accident, he said there were no serious injuries although his car had been seriously damaged. H-Metro exclusively carried the report about the accident.
“I am happy I survived the accident, there were no serious injuries although my car was seriously damaged due to the impact,” Timmy told us, on the night of the accident.
