Winky D, Dj Flevah’s bromance under spotlight. The selector, who has been in the game for close to two decades, says their ‘‘bromance’’ has taught him to be focused, hardworking and innovative. DJ Flevah, the face of dancehall sound Judgement Yard, says he shares a lot in common with chanter, Winky D.
He said this ahead of his 38th birthday bash to be headlined by Winky D at Wood Pub & Grill (formerly Club 1+1). Fellow club wheel-spinners C-Skillz, Mc Tatts, Butler, Danny Vybz, Andile, Coop Klique and Judgment Yard are part of the bill.
However, it should be mentioned that all the attention will be on Winky D, who returns to the same venue by popular demand. In an interview with H-Metro, DJ Flevah said it was all systems go.
“I can confirm that I will be celebrating my birthday on the 25th of this month alongside Winky D. “With Winky D, we have come a long way as we share a lot in common as players in the same industry.
“I decided to invite him to be part of my celebrations since he is more than a friend to me. “By the way, Winky D is also a February baby, something which we are going to be celebrating on the same occasion,” he said.
The entertainer said he also shares the same philosophy with Winky D when it comes to the nurturing of latent. “What I have learnt from Winky D is that talent without vision amounts to nothing. “This is the same thing I would like to share with my peers in the creative sector.
“The same message also applies to the general masses, since it is clear,” he added. DJ Flevah, who parted ways with his other ‘half’ Etherton, said he still remains the face of Judgement Yard.
“I’m still the face of Judgement Yard, we are not stopping, we are still doing our best,” he said. Meanwhile, Wood Pub & Grill events co-ordinators, Eddie Chagonda and Francis “Papa” Dzengere, said they were ready to host high-profile events, as promised, earlier this month.
“As we promised in January this year, we will make sure that we host high-profile gigs, having started with Jah Prayzah last month. We can’t afford to disappoint merry-makers as we are trend-setters in the game,” he said.
