Abdul Khoza has left his legion of fans heartbroken by announcing he is leaving Showmax’s popular series The Wife.
Khoza plays the character of Nqobizitha Zulu, one of the eight controversial Zulu brothers who are in the deadly taxi business. His exceptional acting range constantly leaves viewers of the show in awe and they never stop singing his praises on social media.
Taking to his Instagram account to announce the shocking news he wrote “It’s been an amazing journey with you all on #TheWifeShowmax Thank you to the entire cast and crew for embracing me to the fullest. I shall miss you all and wish you a greater journey ahead. You have inspired my career with this amazing show, ngiyabonga mina uNqobizitha Zulu lo, sengihembe. Heee heee!!.” he announced.
Fans are still in disbelief that he is leaving the show. No one could have anticipated his exit as we all thought that he’d be an integral part of season two but it seems that was not the case. Viewers are not happy at his departure and he will be dearly missed.
Ever since The Wife Premiered, the show has been leaving viewers enthralled with its captivating storyline and talented characters. Its premiere broke Uthando Lodumo’s record for the most first-day views of all-time on Showmax, as well as Devilsdorp’s record for the most hours watched within four days of launch.
Inspired by Dudu Busani-Dube’s bestseller Hlomu The Wife, the 40-episode first season tells the story of a journalist (Mbalenhle Mavimbela from Skeem Saam) who falls in love with a taxi driver, Mqhele (Bonko Khoza from Neckie Youth), not realizing that when you marry a man, you marry his secrets.
Yesterday Showmax announced a new character Naledi played by the gorgeous and talented Gaisang K Noge. Naledi is a doctor who falls for Qhawe Zulu played by Kwenzo Ngcobo.
Regarding the pressure she felt coming into the series, she expressed a desire to not let the other actors down, since they are brilliant actors. “I’m stepping into this role that already exists and people love so much. It’s scary. There is a level of pressure because the performers in this story are brilliant, and people love this story so much, so you don’t want to let them down. But the advantage of playing Naledi is that, even in the actual story, she just joined the world out of nowhere. She’s an outsider; she has no relations. So I use that energy to my advantage.
I’m not like anyone else; I can’t be like anyone else. All I can do is be Naledi. The only shoes I have to fill are hers. Nobody else. Everybody’s unique and perfect in their own way, so I’m going to hold onto that as my guideline,” she said
