AFTER weeks of speculation, it will finally be known today whether Zimbabwe international forward Khama Billiat will finally leave African champions Mamelodi Sundowns or remain, at least, until January next year.
Billiat has been the subject of a frenzy of speculation amid reports that he could leave for Europe, Saudi Arabia or even move to Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.
However, for Chiefs to land Billiat, they will have to pay a hefty transfer fee as the Zimbabwean is still under contract at Mamelodi, while he would also be expected to be made one of the highest earners at Naturena.
The South African Premiership confirmed that the deadline for their transfer window is 5pm today. Sundowns are reportedly to be after the services of Brockie, Manyama and Phakamani Mahlambi and coach Pitso Mosimane is said to be adamant to land at least one of these players.
Meanwhile, new Sundowns striker Keletso Makgalwa says he is excited that he’ll get to play with his role model Billiat in the first team this season.
I am happy to be in the first team. I want to thank the team and coach Pitso for giving me the opportunity. I am looking forward to grabbing it with both hands. I need to work hard,” the 20-year-old said.
“For me, it’s really motivating to train and play with the best players like Khama, Percy (Tau) and others. Khama is my role model. I think we play more or less the same type of football. So I am happy that I can play with him.”
