A SE_X worker in Bulawayo has told a court that she earns $600 monthly and will quit the trade when her eight-year-old twins finish their Ordinary Level eight years from now.

Cynthia Adams (26) appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Lungile Ncube facing a charge of malicious damage to property on Tuesday.

She stunned Mr Ncube when she confessed to being a prost_itute and claimed she netted at least $600 from se_x work monthly and has maintained her sons through se_x work for eight years.

“It is profitable,” she bragged.

I make close to $600 after having paid all my bills. I have also managed to buy three beasts that are in the rural areas and provide for my sons. I have been a commercial se_x worker from the time I was 18 and I will only quit the trade when my sons have finished their O-Level.”

The magistrate convicted her on her own plea and sentenced her to 105 hours community service at Mzilikazi Police Station.

Asked what she does for a living, Adams confidently said she is a commercial se_x worker in the central business district.

Mr Ncube expressed astonishment, saying it is rare for se_x workers to publicly pronounce their line of work as it is illegal in Zimbabwe.

Mr Ncube asked Adams if she had regular clients and she said “Yes,” adding that some of them are married man.

“I know some of them even outside business. Some are married men and they call me anytime. We meet somewhere, do business and I make my money, that’s all,” said Adams.

She told the court that although her illegal trade has been rewarding for her, she detests it because non-regular clients are often abusive.

“I don’t like the job because some clients, especially non-regular ones, just dump me anywhere they like after I have rendered my services,” she complained.

Prosecuting Mrs Memory Ndlovu said Adams broke a windscreen of a car belonging to Mr Thomas Macherezo last month.

“On August 8, the complainant was drinking beer at Pumula North shops with the accused and other friends. The complainant went to his car to rest as he was tired,” said Mrs Ndlovu.

“The accused then followed him and without saying anything, struck the front windscreen with an empty beer bottle.”

Mrs Ndlovu said the cost of the damage was $142.

When asked why she broke the windscreen, Adams said she was drunk.

She said she was willing to pay Mr Macherezo $10 everyday towards the replacement of the windscreen.
