DJ Maphorisa who is passionate about the growth of Amapiano says he’s praying for the genre. The genre’s growth is blatant, as it’s moved from the hood to nations and it’s gradually infiltrating the international scene. Following his successful interview at YFM radio station, DJ Maphorisa took to Twitter to reveal his ardent behaviour towards the aforementioned genre.
Just like Afro Beats genre has been peaking and bagging recognition on the Billboard charts, Lawd Phori prays that yano makes such a feat.
“Praying for Amapiano category on the Billboard charts,” Phori tweeted. Asides from DJ Maphorisa whose alter ego is Madumane, there are other South African musicians who are impassioned about the international success of the genre. The likes of Major League DJz, Kabza De Small, Focalistic, and many others.
Recently, Nigerian Grammy-winning star, Burna Boy said Amapiano is the next big sound to emerge from Africa asides Afro Beat.
