The First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa has launched a campaign code-named: ‘Zimbabwe Free to Shine,’ as part of her efforts to strengthen her commitment to champion programmes aimed at preventing childhood HIV and AIDS infection in Zimbabwe.

The campaign, launched today at the ongoing Harare Agricultural Show, is in response to the call by all African first ladies to end childhood AIDS by 2030.

The First Lady said she is committed to partnering organisations in preventing new HIV infections in children, as well as mother to child transmission.

She encouraged stakeholders to take an active role to achieve the targets set by the government in eliminating HIV and AIDS.

“More still needs to be done as 1.4 million children are living with HIV in Africa south of the Sahara.

Other stakeholders in the health sector applauded the First Lady for her efforts towards improving health delivery in the country and pledged their support in ending HIV and AIDS in children by 2030.

The First Lady, who is an ambassador for women and child care, began her day at the agricultural show by touring the National AIDS Council (NAC) stand, followed by CIMAS, PSMAS and the Ministry of Health and Child Care stand.
