Environmental hygiene continues to be a top priority as efforts to contain water borne diseases continue.
The ZAOGA Forward in Faith church today held clean-up campaigns across the country to celebrate 70 years of preaching the word of God across the world by its leader Professor Ezekiel Guti.
In Chinhoyi the clean up exercise was held at Gadzema Shopping Centre and the Chinhoyi town central business district.
The gesture is part of the social responsibility to the community.
Besides promoting cleanliness the church has also played a pivotal role in economic development of the country by imparting entrepreneurial skills to its members, according to Pastor Christine Kagura.
Her sentiments were also echoed by Chinhoyi District Pastor Edward Masakure.
The clean-up campaign was supported by the Environmental Management Agency which commended the gesture.
Apostle Ezekiel Guti’s 70 years of nonstop ministering the word of God has seen the church spreading to over 140 nations.
In Harare, the church congregants took their clean-up campaign to Mbare musika bus terminus to complement government in the fight against diseases.
Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Cde Prisca Mupfumira commended ZAOGA for undertaking the initiative saying the move sends strong signals on the role of social organisations in maintaining the environment clean.
“I therefore urge every stakeholder in Zimbabwe to actively participate in programmes aimed at restoring environmental sanity and as a ministry we are ready to support any such efforts,” he said.
Members of the church who also spoke to ZBC News called on communities members to desist from littering the environment.
Meanwhile, ZAOGA is celebrating 70 years of existence and Archbishop Ezekiel Guti’s 95th birthday.
