Members of the public today (Saturday) got a rare opportunity to hold the rifle at the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) organised charity fundraising shooting competition at Cleveland Shooting Range in Harare.
The 2 Infantry Brigade was raising charity funds for its social responsibility programmes.
Commander 2 Infantry Brigade Brigadier-General Fidelis Mhonda said the family fun events are meant to provide an interactive platform with members of the public on how both parties can mutually benefit from each other.
“Such initiatives can help in formulating relationships with the general public and how the army can work with the communities vis-a-vis the event is meant to raise funds for the charity works,” he said.
Civilians who spoke to ZBC thanked the army for the opportunity to learn about firearms while some encouraged fellow Zimbabweans to support charity initiatives.
Meanwhile, after going through a safety briefing the ZBC crew also had a chance to participate in the shooting competition making the event a lifetime opportunity to interact with firearms.
