Television and radio personality Tinopona “Tin Tin” Katsande has sued her baby dad Virimai Chigariro on accusations of abuse. In her founding affidavit, Tinopona alleges that Virimai’s abusive nature erupted after she confronted him over an affair he was having with a teenage girl.
“I was compelled to make this application as a result of the Respondent’s repetitive abusive behavior. I entered into a relationship with him in 2014 and sometime in March 2016 I discovered that he was having an affair with a teenage girl.
“We had an argument and he threatened my life with a knife. He also waved it at everyone who was there including our son. The following day he abducted our son and disappeared for two days. He returned the child to me after my relatives asked him to. Since then he has been verbally abusing sending more texts, calling my family, friends and potential employer slandering me. He also went to the media to with a malicious story that will cause my reputation irreparable harm,” she said
Tinopona further alleged that Virimai has been calling her relatives asking for her whereabouts. She cited that she is worried that he might abduct their son again.
“I can no longer live in fear of being assaulted or the abduction of my son. I am forced to take taxis to any destination because I fear that Virimai might pop out of nowhere and assault me. He has also falsely accused me of abusing drugs,” she stated.
However, Virimai applied that the matter be postponed to enable him to get legal representation.
“I am applying for a postponement so that I get legal advice and representation. I was served on Friday and had not had time to seek legal advice,” he said.
Presiding magistrate Gamuchirai Siwardi deferred the matter to next week on Monday.
