THREE men who are believed to have been hired by dancehall artiste Sandra “Lady Squanda” Gazi to assault comedian Tatenda “Skimbo” Matika appeared in court.
The trio of Kudakwashe Sikireta, Kelvin Gore and Godwin Yambiyaro pleaded not guilty to assault when they appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Blessing Murwisi.
The three were ordered to furnish the court with their residential addresses by today for the court to grant them bail.
During the initial hearing, Kudakwashe and Godwin told the court that they were victims of mistaken identity by the complainant.

“We are not the ones who assaulted him, I think he has confused us with people who attacked him,” said Kudakwashe as Godwin consented.
The second accused, Kelvin confirmed that he was present when Matika was assaulted but denied taking part in assaulting him.
“I was only holding the phone which was taking the video but I was not the one who assaulted him,” he said.
In response, Matika told the court that he was certain that the accused were the ones who assaulted him.
“They are lying to the court, they are the ones who teamed up with Squanda to assault me.
I have a medical report to prove that my left eye is not functioning well,” he said.
The State, led by Edmund Ndambakuwa, alleges that on 13 July at around 4pm, the trio, together with Lady Squanda, went to Matika’s house and told him they wanted him to do a collaboration with Lady Squanda.
When they left Matika’s premise, the court heard that they punched him.
Matika then lodged a complaint with the police which led to the arrest of the trio.
