Boity Thulo revealed that having a reality TV show was something she was offered many times before and turned down – Exposing her personal life to the public is something that scared Boity – The only reason she agreed to it this time is that she felt she was in a more stable, comfortable and position of control.
Boity Thulo opened up further on the reservations she had, and still has, on having her own reality TV show – privacy is so important. Boity sat down with DRUM magazine and told them all the things that scare her about having a reality TV show. Boity revealed that she was asked to do a reality TV show many times but that she declined in fear of her life being exposed in a way she didn’t want it to be.
The offers had been coming in for years but I kept saying no. Letting people into my life and having the last bit of privacy taken away from me felt uncomfortable,” Boity told DRUM. It took a lot for Boity to finally agree to do her own reality TV show, and Boity: Own Your Throne is doing pretty damn well so far. From Bonang Matheba to Somizi, many Mzansi stars have managed to have their own reality TV show and maintain their sanity.
Being wiser, in control and a lot more comfortable with who she is, is why Boity finally agreed to do the show. “When I decided I’m going to venture into this I was comfortable with who I am and my life. I have accepted many things. I’m more mature than I was a few years ago,” explained Boity.
