China-based artiste affected by Coronavirus. Brity Yonly was given a two-year contract to perform at Lingling International Circus. Afro jazz artiste Brity Yonly says the Coronavirus (covid19) has become an impediment to her gigs in an island under China called Xiamen.
She started performing her shows since the last quarter of last year until the outbreak of covid19. The crooner said the coronavirus has temporarily stalled her performances until the pandemic stabilises.
“International Lingling Circus is an international tourist destination and I have been performing there since September. “But due to coronavirus, we had to stop because our job involves interacting with people yet it has been discouraged to do gatherings to stop the virus from spreading.
“This has affected the business and opportunities because Lingling International Circus gives exposure and chances to make connections with people from other countries,” said Brity Yonly.
Despite the disturbance of her gigs by covid19, Brity Yonly said she is happy with the way people are enjoying her music. “Though covid19 has affected my shows, I am happy that people are loving my jazz music which I fuse with mbira sound.
“Most of them have expressed that they love the unique sound from my music since it is original and they are used to western music. “The feedback I am getting is inspiring because when people from different parts of the world appreciate my music it gives me confidence.
“I wish to go back soon for performance but covid19 has become a major stumbling block,” she told H-Metro. Brity Yonly has an album titled Mwana waMambo released in 2015 produced by Tonderai Dirorimwe from Diro Digital Studios.
Last year she did a single Fame Without Money feat Datler, Proskan & Gracious Sithole. It was recorded at Verenga Empire Studios by the award-winning producer Alleviate Beats and Master Flexx.
Fame Without Money is currently being played on rotation on local radio stations. She is set to release a single Vachabaiwa which was produced by Gibson Makumbe from V.O.T studios.
