Thai Coronavirus suspect who escaped from Wilkins Hospital tests negative. The Thai national presented himself for testing yesterday after the relevant authorities raised red flags and launched a manhunt for him.

The Ministry of Information yesterday announced that the traveller from Thailand, who was being sought by the authorities for Coronavirus testing after he had escaped from Wilkins Hospital, tested negative for the virus. He has been discharged from the Wilkins Hospital after his tests came back negative.

CORONA VIRUS UPDATE The traveller from Thailand who was being sought by the authorities for testing, and presented himself today, has tested negative to the virus. He has been discharged from the Wilkins Hospital.

The country had plunged into a widespread panic after the government had announced the missing Thai man had come at Wilkins Hospital displaying signs of Coronavirus, with an elevated body temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius.

The man is said to have fled before he could be further tested, a move which was seen as detrimental to the health of citizens in the country. However, the situation has been resolved amicably.

Meanwhile, a female British visitor in Hwange developed flu-type symptoms and was referred to Victoria Falls Hospital.

The doctors diagnosed her symptoms as not for the Covid-19 case definition set by the World Health Organisation (WHO). They administered antibiotics for ordinary pneumonia and she has since recovered. The Ministry of Information also confirmed the information on their Twitter account

”A traveller from the UK was attended to by a practitioner in Hwange this week with respiratory symptoms. She was referred to Victoria Falls Hospital they did not meet the WHO case definition of COVID-19. She was treated for pneumonia and has recovered on antibiotics treatment”. Zimbabwe hasn’t recorded a positive test for Coronavirus thus far.
