Members of the MDC’s 2014 National standing committee snubs Mwonzora’s meeting. Reports suggest that only three members showed up for the meeting. A Twitter handle Chamisa Cete Chete posted this Thursday saying: A meeting of the opposition MDC’s 2014 National Standing Committee has reportedly failed to kickoff after the majority of the members failed to show up.
The development was The so-called 2014 NationalStanding Committee called by Mwonzora today failed to kick off because only 3 members turned up. @hwendec@ChibayaMdc@BvondoChidziva@KarenyiKore@PaurinaMpariwa Thabitha Khumalo, Theresa Makoni and Murisi Zvidzai did not turn up out of the 12 members.
Another report by political analyst, Rshweat Mukudu echoed sentiments above which say that the meeting failed to kickoff but suggested that more people attended. Mukudu posted saying:
I hear this was a flopped National Executive meeting planned by @DMwonzora, @MKomichi & @EliasMudzuri, in Highfields, 6 people turned up&this turned into a Mazoe drinking meeting. What desperation in this lockdown period&for Mudzuri, my heart bleeds.
This comes at a time when the party is preparing to hold an extraordinary congress using 2014 structures as per the directive of the Supreme Court in a ruling on the party’leadership crisis.
The reinstated party Secretary General, Douglas Mwonzora says the preparations for the congress are at an advanced stage.
