Buyanga sucked in Registrar General Masango’s passport scandal. The latest development follows hot on the heels of Masango’s latest corruption storm that is before the courts.

Troubled Registrar-General Clement Masango has been sucked in a fresh scandal where he is alleged to have issued a passport to businessman Frank Buyanga’s minor son under dubious circumstances, Zim Morning Post can reveal.

He is expected to appear in court Thursday where he will answer to charges of flouting procurement regulations in the purchase of vehicles belonging to the Central Registry and using seven of the 11 vehicles at his farm.

Zim Morning Post has it on solid ground that Masango abused office and irregularly ordered his subordinates to issue a passport to Buyanga’s minor child on December 5 2019.

The order was done with no legal basis and consultation with the mother Chantelle Muteswa as prescribed at law. “On December 5 2019, RG gave Buyanga passport and no communication to the mother and legal basis of the release,” said our source.

High Court judge (case number HC2149/20), Justice Manzunzu ordered Masango to surrender the passport to officers of law, but he refused to comply.

In a letter seen by this publication addressed to one Mrs Zvedi of the High Court, Masango clearly refused to surrender the passport and stated that he had given it to Buyanga.

“The Registrar-General’s office is unable to avail Daniel Aleander Sadiqi’s passport because it was issued to his father Frank Buyanga Sadiq on the 5th of December 2019,” read part of the letter.

Sources told this publication that Buyanga and Masango’s friendship has been in existence since his days as Chief Immigration Officer. “Buyanga is in possession of several passports that were acquired using Masango’s network and influence.

“The passports bear different names including Tawanda Sadiqi and this is to confuse law enforcing agents and Interpol, remember he was once a person of interest in the United Kingdom where he had links with his erstwhile friend NVG (Nick Van Hoogstraten) who is an ex-convict,” said the source.

Buyanga and his baby mother Muteswa are locked in a child custody dispute and the former used the passport to skip the country to South Africa where he was denied entry and re-routed to Dubai in a chartered plane.

This is after he kidnapped the son in movie-style in Waterfalls, Harare and police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga recently told the court that Buyanga is a “wanted” person who should be arrested.
