Meet the man behind Winky D’s #Garamumbaiwe concert costume. Young fashion designer Jay-Tee, the name behind SOG Clothing, a local fashion company that dressed Winky D last Wednesday for the Gara Mumba Iwe online concert, says it was God’s way of affording him such a humbling and difficult task.
The man behind Winky D & Vigilance band’s Money Heist outfits & CEO of @sogclothingzw @desiignerjaytee is running a campaign called #feedafamilycampaign which is about him producing stylish 3ply facemasks for sale & the profits are to be donated as groceries to the needy in different parts of Zimbabwe, support this initiative & follow the pages to see more of his amazing work.
“I believe everything we do is because of God and the opportunity that was handed to me is not out of my might, but God’s plan,” Jay-Tee said. “I was nervous before Winky D took to the stage and also felt proud of myself because I never saw myself being his dresser.
“It was something I couldn’t wait to see and I was afraid that they could change their minds before the show. He is a big brand and I never thought I could make the cut.
“It means a lot and inspired me more. Also, the way Winky D and Lyaan and his band were so patient with me as I designed it in a very short space of time.” SOG Clothing company is an acronym of Saints of God, originating from the designer’s former rap group.
“After some time, I figured out that I should pursue fashion designing and my fellow members also went their own ways, then I registered my company as SOG,” he said.
“I thought of associating my brand with what I believe, God. I am a saint of God and I believe through God we do what we are doing and all is for His praise.”
The designer, husband and father-to-be said he was inspired by his mother who was a designer as well.
Jay-Tee has dressed Enzo Ishall, Noble Stylz, Zaza, Lyaan, DJ Krimz and DJ Fafi, among others.
