Janet Manyowa: We commit everything to God

Janet Manyowa: We commit everything to God. The multiple award-winning diva’s top management urged both believers and non-believers to find time to worship the Lord for the gift of life. Janet Manyowa’s handlers reckon there is need to have faith in God no matter what people go through in life.

The camp made this revelation to H-Metro Entertainment & Lifestyle ahead of the diva’s Night of Thanksgiving Concert slated for HICC on Sunday. It kicks off at 3pm.

Explaining the theme of the concert, Janet’s husband and manager Munyaradzi Manyowa said they always put God first no matter what they go through.

“A Night of Thanksgiving is a concert where we gather and give thanks to the Lord Almighty for yet another year, recognizing the multitude of challenges we faced during the course of the year and how we have overcome all of them.

“Preparations are at an advanced stage. We are super excited, Takesure Zamar (SA based singer) has been here since last week. It’s all systems go,” he said.

Asked how he managed to come up with the star-studded line-up and what value are they adding, Munyaradzi went on: “We looked at the theme of the event and chose these amazing musicians based on how they fit the theme and scripting of the show.

“They are all very unique and diverse in their own way which adds so much value. There is something for everyone.” Taking stock of some of their achievements and how do u intend to maintain the touch, Munyaradzi could not hide their elation.

“This year, we won the Best Female and Best Album accolades at the Zimbabwe Music Awards and most recently the Best of Africa Award at the SABC Crown Gospel Awards.

“We also made significant inroads within the region and this was a milestone for us in many ways. “We will continue to draw our strength and wisdom from the Lord, work hard and keep producing quality music,” he said. He however conceded that it was not easy to handle the pressure, which comes with success and the need to be consistent.

“It’s not easy, we trust and commit everything we do to the Lord. We are very diligent and intentional in our work, and the JMM Team does a great job when it comes to attention to detail.

“Our organization culture is centred on quality in everything we produce,” he said. As seasoned winners who still remain grounded, the diva’s camp also shared their piece of advice with fellow artistes who want to emulate them.

“Keep working hard and invest in those 10,000 hours, be resourceful and creative in the way you approach your art, trust in God.”

With the year fast coming to an end, the phenomenal diva has a message of hope to their followers in despair who get comfort in their music.

“Read Psalm 31:24, which reads ‘Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord’. “Let us remain steadfast on God, He will sustain redeem us.”

As a social influencer, role model and preacher, Janet Moyo’s team urged Zimbabwe to be firm and resolute in the face of the new Omicron variant.

The team said the challenges should unite Zimbabweans from across the divide as well as helping them to restore their relationship with God. “It shall be well; this too shall pass. We may be going through a tough season but it will not last forever.

“Let us not give up, regardless of what we going through. Our God fights for us,” said Munyaradzi who is looking forward to a great show and new year.

Wielding-machete attack survivor demands justice. Kizito Fofo, 54, had his legs and hands broken and sustained head and body injuries after the gang, led by one his neighbours, attacked him.

A Kadoma man who was attacked by 12 men armed with machetes and knobkerries in Zhombe sometime in September, is calling for justice.

Narrating his ordeal from his home village, Fofo told H-Metro that John and his other accomplices have not yet been arrested.

“I have been admitted at Kadoma General Hospital since September 20 when I got injured but no arrests have been made,” said Fofo. “I lodged a police report against them under CR 81 at Empress Police Station.

“Officers are arguing that they are yet to get fuel allocation since September when some of the suspects are within the village. “My medical doctor told me that some of these injuries are permanent.

“My appeal to law enforcement agencies is arrest these guys and take them to court for justice. “They have killed my life and that of my children,” said Fofo.

Fofo, a father of 13, told H-Metro that the gang attacked him for defending his two children who had clashed with one of them. He is a peasant farmer and has eight children currently under his custody who are looking up to him to put food on the table in that condition.

Werner and Lukaku both scored as Chelsea played a 3-all draw against Zenit St Petersburg

Werner and Lukaku both scored as Chelsea played a 3-all draw against. Substitute Magomed Ozdoev scored a stunning half-volley from the edge of the box after Chelsea had come from behind to lead 3-2 with minutes left.

A dramatic equaliser from Zenit St Petersburg four minutes into added time meant holders Chelsea failed to top their Champions League group.

Timo Werner scored in both halves and also set up Romelu Lukaku after Zenit had come from 1-0 down to lead 2-1. But Ozdoev’s strike meant Chelsea finish behind Juventus, who beat Malmo.

Thomas Tuchel’s side – whose only defeat of the group stages came in Turin when they lost 1-0 to Juventus – made the perfect start, Werner reacting to poke in the opener within three minutes.

Two goals in quick succession from Claudinho and Sardar Azmoun saw Zenit go in front at the break, before Werner’s one-two with Ross Barkley helped tee up Lukaku for Chelsea’s second.

Werner, who was a threat for Chelsea throughout, showed composure to make it 3-2 when substitute Christian Pulisic played him in with five minutes remaining.

But Ozdoev’s stunning stoppage-time strike ensured Juventus topped Group H, while Zenit finished in third and will go into the Europa League play-offs in February.

Juventus win at Malmo 1 – 0 to finish as group H leaders

Juve win at Malmo 1 – 0 to finish as group H leaders. Ex-Everton striker Moise Kean headed the winner from a great cross from the right wing by Federico Bernardeschi, using the outside of his left boot. Juventus beat Malmo to finish above Chelsea and advance to the Champions League last 16 as Group H winners.

Malmo offered little as an attacking threat and finish bottom of the group. Juve had looked set to finish second but Chelsea conceded a late goal in their 3-3 draw at Zenit St Petersburg to send Juve through as group winners.

Chelsea would have taken top spot if they had finished level on points with the Italians, courtesy of a better head-to-head record after beating Juve 4-0 at Stamford Bridge last month.

However, Magomed Ozdoev’s 94th-minute equaliser for Zenit in Russia handed Juventus top spot, and sparked scenes of celebration at the Allianz Stadium.

It means they will avoid Manchester City, Liverpool, Ajax, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and whoever wins Group G in the next round in February. The draw for the last 16 takes place at Uefa’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday at 11:00 GMT.

This was a routine victory for Juve, who had already missed chances with Daniele Rugani heading wide and Kean shooting wide, before the latter grabbed his first Champions League goal for the club.

After the break, Adrien Rabiot’s effort was just off target, while Bernardeschi forced a fine save from away goalkeeper Ismael Diawara.

Malmo, managed by ex-Newcastle striker Jon Dahl Tomasson, are now out of European competition for 2021-22. However, they clinched the Swedish league title earlier this week and will be in the first qualifying round of next season’s Champions League.

Barca out of the Champions League after 3 – 0 thumping by Bayern Munich

Barcelona out of the Champions League after 3 – 0 thumping by Bayern Munich. Barca have not been absent from the last 16 since 2003-04, when they did not qualify for the competition at all.

Five-time European champions Barcelona lost to Bayern Munich to miss out on the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time in 17 years.

This exit continues a miserable campaign for the Spanish giants after financial issues forced them to let club legend Lionel Messi leave on a free transfer and then join Paris St-Germain in the summer.

Barca needed to match Benfica’s result to advance, but the Portuguese side won 2-0 at home to Dynamo Kyiv, leaving Xavi’s men third and facing a Europa League knockout round play-off.

The game, played in snowy conditions and without fans because of a rise in Covid-19 cases in Germany, had got away from the visitors by half-time.

Bayern scored their first when Robert Lewandowski’s cross found Thomas Muller and his header just crossed the line, before they doubled their lead thanks to a superb 30-yard strike from former Manchester City forward Leroy Sane.

Jamal Musiala added a third goal in the second half with a routine finish after a pull-back from Alphonso Davies.

Barcelona had chances to take the lead when it was goalless but Jordi Alba, who later went off with a hamstring injury, had a shot saved by Manuel Neuer and Ousmane Dembele also wasted a chance by firing over.

Bayern advance as group winners with a 100% record. Benfica finished on eight points, with Barcelona, who only scored twice in the entire group stage, on seven points.

The draw for the Europa League takes place on Monday at 12:00 GMT in Nyon, Switzerland and Barca will play one of the Europa League group runners-up, with Rangers one of their potential opponents.

Manchester United held to a 1-all draw by Young Boys

$

With qualification as group winners having been secured with a game to spare, interim boss Ralf Rangnick gave all 11 players who started the Premier League win over Crystal Palace a night off.

Mason Greenwood’s spectacular ninth-minute opener failed to inspire Manchester United’s second string who were held to a disappointing Champions League draw by Swiss side Young Boys.

But, other than Greenwood, who brilliantly volleyed Luke Shaw’s cross into the corner, it was not a night when United’s fringe players made much of an impression.

A rare opportunity for Donny van de Beek only resulted in the Dutchman providing 19-year-old Fabian Rieder with the chance to equalise for David Wagner’s men and Quentin Maceiras should have won it for the visitors but fired wide from an excellent position after finding himself unmarked in the box.

Rangnick introduced Robbie Savage’s son, Charlie, for a first-team debut – something his dad never managed during his time as an Old Trafford junior – two minutes from time.

At the same time, Zidane Iqbal became the first British-born player of Asian heritage to make a senior appearance for the club. The night did not end well for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who had to be taken of on a stretcher after the final whistle.

Greenwood the star on a disappointing night
A place in Monday’s draw is something of an achievement for United, who have only reached the knockout round five times since the 2011 final, when they were beaten by Barcelona, and on only four occasions since Sir Alex Ferguson retired two years later.

On this evidence, few will give them much hope of winning the competition for a fourth time, although there are a lot of big names for Rangnick to call upon when the action starts again next February.

Greenwood’s latest goal means he has now scored eight in European competition – excluding qualifiers – for United, a record for any player for the club before their 21st birthday, overtaking Marcus Rashford.

Rangnick will want more from the youngster given the manager’s preference to press high up the pitch, something which will only give his chances of breaking back into Gareth Southgate’s England squad a lift.

Henderson with a point to prove
Of all the players given a starting spot by Rangnick, goalkeeper Dean Henderson had the most pressing need to impress.

Overlooked this season by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after missing the start of the campaign, Henderson is desperate to play regularly to try to regain his England spot, and if January comes and he still finds himself on the bench, he is likely to seek a loan move.

A couple of dashes out of his box to make clearances and a decent save to deny Christopher Martins’ effort represented a decent opening period until Rieder struck.

In fairness to Henderson, the fault was not his as skipper Nemanja Matic played a pass to Van de Beek in a dangerous position which the Dutchman, given a rousing reception by the home fans who feel he should be given more opportunities, failed to control.

Henderson was left exposed too often after half-time as United’s second string found it an increasing struggle to keep their opponents at bay.

Maceiras should have scored in what was the last bit of action around Henderson’s goal before the keeper was replaced by Tom Heaton, who was making his United debut nearly two decades after he first joined the club.

VP Chiwenga: Non-monetary benefits on the way

VP Chiwenga: Non-monetary benefits on the way. Standards of living of health workers will continually improve through the provision of non-monetary benefits, Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care Constantino Chiwenga said yesterday at the two-day interface to improve the health sector.

His mission at the Ministry was to stabilise the health sector and restore dignity of health workers through provision of competitive remuneration, decent accommodation, proper tools of trade and general livelihoods, to overcome the challenges of pay and equipment.

In his address, he thanked health workers for an effective and thorough response to the Covid-19 that has won the praise of the international community and the World Health Organisation.

“The Government and country at large fully appreciate the work and efforts you are doing as health workers, be it in the Ministry, our parastatals or those in our councils.

“I therefore urge you all to continue with the dedication and resilience in providing services during these trying as we move forward,” said VP Chiwenga.

“The vision of the Ministry is to have the highest possible level of healthcare and quality of life for all citizens and permanent residents of Zimbabwe by 2030. The goal is to improve the quality of life of our citizens.

“This will be achieved through hard work, dedication to duty, honesty, professionalism, transparency, upholding good corporate governance and ethics as well as zero tolerance to corruption,” said VP Chiwenga.

He was very aware of the challenges affecting the health delivery system, chief among which is poor working conditions including lack of tools of trade.

“As I mentioned earlier, my mission is to stabilise the health sector and restore dignity including the dignity of health workers. My thrust therefore, is to ensure that health workers are competitively remunerated, have adequate tools of trade, decent accommodation and reliable transport.”

Vice President Chiwenga talked of his massive understanding of employee motivation and said in the military if you go to war with an unhappy force then expect to come back with numerous casualties.

“Motivation of staff is crucial in human resources management especially in the healthcare sector, as we are dealing with human life from both the point of view of the service provider and the client.

“The need to look at the totality of the needs of healthcare workers cannot be over emphasised in order to realise maximum throughput. Let me hasten to say that Government is pre-occupied with the need to improve the conditions of service of healthcare workers in terms of providing adequate and appropriate tools of trade to improve the working environment.

“It is therefore not only what the health care worker takes home at the end of the month that matters, but also the general welfare and working conditions as a total package,” said VP Chiwenga.

VP Chiwenga challenged the Health Service Board as the employer to ensure general welfare and working are improved.

The Ministry has made proposals to Cabinet which are receiving serious considerations, including reviewing upwards vehicle loan schemes for both junior and senior staff and pressing ahead with housing at all levels, provision of institutional accommodation, transportation of workers, establishment of canteens as well as rehabilitation centres.

“I will be discussing with the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development, the issue of agricultural land for health sector staff.

“The Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, together with the provincial development coordinators will be engaged to consider availing stands for building houses for health care workers,” said VP Chiwenga.

Parliament to fast-track Budget debate

Parliament to fast-track Budget debate. On Tuesday, Finance and Economic Development Deputy Minister Clemence Chiduwa moved for the suspension of some procedural requirements that should ordinarily be followed.

The National Assembly has agreed to fast-track debate on the $927 billion 2022 National Budget which was presented by Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube last month to ensure that it sails at the earliest possible time.

Some of the requirements that Parliament adopted was the suspension of automatic adjournment at 6.55pm, the requirement of referral of a Bill to the Parliamentary Legal Committee and allowing for the sitting of the House on Friday should the need arise.

The motion by Deputy Minister Chiduwa to suspend some procedural requirements in respect of debate on the 2022 National Budget was made in terms of Parliament’s Standing Orders.

Soon after Parliament adopted Deputy Minister Chiduwa ’s motion, debate on the National Budget resumed with chairpersons of different portfolio committees tabling their reports.

Debate continued yesterday with portfolio committee chairpersons tabling reports for allocations of Ministries they overshadow with Minister Ncube listening. Most of the reports bemoaned inadequate allocation of financial resources to various Government ministries and departments.

In its contribution, Parliament’s portfolio committee on Budget and Finance felt that the US$50 tax on mobile phones that Treasury intended to introduce defeated the thrust to embrace digital economy.

The committee chaired by Buhera Central MP Cde Mathew Nyashanu (Zanu-PF) said the new tax will merely be passed to consumers. “The Committee feels that the proposal defeats the whole purpose of encouraging use of ICTs especially in schools in view of Covid-19, in addition to the tax being administratively complex to manage.

“The new tax will be passed onto consumers, thus pushing the price of cellphones up and creating remittance nightmares for Mobile Network Operators. The Minister failed to recognise differences in value of cell phones and applied a blanket rate.

“The Committee recommends that the levy be scrapped to encourage use of ICTs and Government can recoup this forgone tax from increased use of cellphones on airtime levy and IMTT,” said Cde Nyashanu. He said Treasury was making unilateral utilisation of the International Monetary Fund Special Drawing Rights without consulting them as agreed.

“The Committee calls upon the Minister of Finance to consult Parliament in the utilisation of the SDRs set aside as contingency reserves. Moreover, the Committee calls upon the Auditor General to thoroughly audit the utilisation of the SDRs,” he said.

The Portfolio committee on Local Government and Public Works implored Treasury to adequately fund the chiefs council so that it has its own secretariat as well as provide funding to devolution in order to give impetus to it.

“The Committee recommends that: Treasury should allocate 5 percent of the budget to devolution in line with the Constitution. “The continued violation of the Constitution is unacceptable. Furthermore, the Devolution Bill must be brought before Parliament as a matter of urgency,” said the committee chairperson Cde Miriam Chikukwa.

Hatfield MP and MDC-T senior party member, Dr Tapiwa Mashakada, MDC-T said the growth target of 5,5 percent was encouraging.

“If we are going to stimulate the economy, even under the challenges of Covid-19, stimulate the mining sector, stimulate the agricultural sector, manufacturing and tourism and all other growth enablers so that we can meet the 5,5 percent target.

“I think this is going to benefit the country. I hope that the 5,5 percent growth that we are talking of is not only growth per se. It must be inclusive to growth,” said Dr Mashakada.

Covid-19 forces courts to shutdown again

Covid-19 forces courts to shutdown again. Chitungwiza Municipality also closed its head office yesterday and suspended all council and committee meetings after several employees tested positive for Covid-19, as institutions begin implementing internal measures to help curb the spread of the pandemic.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the temporary closure of its head office in Harare and the upper and lower courts throughout the country for at least two days to allow fumigation and contact tracing, as cases of Covid-19 continue to surge among its employees.

A number of banks this week sent generic messages to clients through social media platforms advising on the temporary closure of some branches pending disinfection exercises.

Harare City Council yesterday also announced the suspension of face to face meeting with effect from next week as it ponders the next course of action after several workers tested positive for the virus.

In a statement, JSC said the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, all High Court stations and the Labour Court would be closed until Monday. Selected Civil and Criminal Courts will be closed today and tomorrow.

“The Judicial Service Commission wishes to advise stakeholders and members of the public of the temporary closure of all Superior Courts following confirmation of Covid-19 cases.

“Normal court business will resume on Monday December 13, 2021. The Superior Courts include the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court and High Courts in Harare, Bulawayo, Masvingo, Mutare and Chinhoyi.

“The Labour Courts in Harare, Bulawayo and Gweru and the Administrative Court in Harare will also be closed. The temporary closure will allow for fumigation, disinfection and deep cleaning of the premises,” said the JSC.

The registry departments of the Superior Courts would remain open for urgent cases.

JSC also said the Harare Civil and Magistrates Court (Rotten Row), Mbare, Tredgold (Bulawayo), Gweru (criminal), Gwanda (civil and criminal), Plumtree and Mutawatawa courts were closed yesterday and today.

Shurugwi, Chitungwiza, Goromonzi, Norton, Rusape, Chegutu, Inyathi, Kadoma and Mutare civil and criminal courts would also be closed during that period.

“The temporary closure on Wednesday the 8th and Thursday 9th of December 2021 is to allow for disinfection of premises, testing, contact tracing and adherence to all Covid-19 protocols to contain the continued spread of the virus.

“Business will resume on Friday, the 10th of December 2021,” said JSC. All matters set down for today were automatically rolled over to tomorrow and Monday.

Yesterday, Harare magistrate Mr Lazini Ncube was expected to preside over the matter in which Marry Mubaiwa is alleged to have lied that Vice President Constantino Chiwenga had consented to legally wed her during the time he was ill.

Mubaiwa is charged with violating the Marriages Act.

The State was expected to call more witnesses after Supreme Court judge Justice George Chiweshe, High Court judge Mr Munamato Mutevedzi and Judicial Service Commission secretary Mr Walter Chikwana testified against Mubaiwa.

Regional Magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Mhene was also expected to preside over Orchestra Mberikwazvo’s lead dancer Selemani Mpochi’s case in which he is alleged to have raped his teenage girlfriend. Mpochi is denying the charges.

Former Dynamos Football Club star Stanley Chirambadare’s trial on allegations of s.e.xually abusing boys at his Mufakose-based soccer academy, was also supposed to kick off today, but has been affected by the court’s closure. It is now expected to start on Monday.

Meanwhile, several Harare City Council employees have tested positive to Covid-19 with Chitungwiza Municipality taking the extra step of temporarily closing its offices after several employees tested positive for Covid-19.

Harare City Council spokesperson Mr Michael Chideme confirmed that some city employees had tested positive for Covid-19 adding: “They are self isolating because they tested positive for Covid-19. From next week our meetings will be virtual to reduce human interaction,” he said.

A source at Town House said at least 10 people operating from Cleveland House offices tested positive. Chitungwiza Municipality’s health services director Dr Tonderai Kasu directed acting town clerk Mrs Evangelista Machona, all heads of departments and sections to close council premises.

“Within the last 24 hours (from Tuesday to Wednesday), five employees working in the Human Resources Department have tested positive for Covid-19. This prompted the Health Department to set up a mobile team at the council head office to test head office employees.

“During the first hour the team was doing its work, nine more employees tested positive for Covid-19,” he said.

“All physical council and committee meetings are suspended. These may only be held if they are virtual. Head office will only be opened after disinfection. “All head office employees are strongly encouraged to get tested,” said Dr Kasu.

Pope Francis: Having s.e.x outside marriage is not the most serious sin

Pope Francis: Having s.e.x outside marriage is not the most serious sin. “Sins of the flesh are not the most serious,” the Pope said during a question-and-answer session with reporters on a flight back to Italy from Greece on Monday. Instead, he called pride and hatred “the most serious” sins.

According to Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church, s.e.x outside of marriage is not the “most serious” sin. The Pope was also questioned about the resignation of Paris Archbishop Michel Aupetit, who offered to resign earlier this month after a French magazine claimed he had an intimate relationship with a woman.

Archbishops and other higher-ranking members of the Catholic Church have traditionally practiced clerical celibacy, which means they abstain from s.e.x. The Archbishop denied the affair, saying, “I handled the situation poorly with a person who was in contact with me many times.”

The Pope, who accepted the Archbishop’s resignation, stated that “it was a failure on his part, a failure against the sixth commandment, but not a total failure.”

The sixth commandment states that “you shall not commit adultery,” which applies to people who have s.e.x outside of their marriages, but the Pope suggested that it could also apply to priests who do not remain celibate.

During the flight, the Pope stated that the Archbishop was removed due to “gossip.” “All of us are sinners. “He cannot govern when the gossip grows and grows and destroys someone’s good name,” he said.

“This is a travesty. That is why I accepted Aupetit’s resignation: not on the altar of truth, but on the altar of hypocrisy.” During his visit to Greece, Pope Francis urged young people not to be swayed by today’s consumerist “sirens.”

“Today’s sirens want to entice you with seductive and insistent messages that focus on easy gains, the false needs of consumerism, the cult of physical wellness, and entertainment at all costs,” he explained. “All of these are like fireworks: they flash for a split second before dissipating into smoke in the air.”

Hip Hop is a young man’s game – Sizwe Dhlomo

Sizwe Dhlomo has made it clear that hip hop is a young man’s game. This is coming after a tweep gave some thumbs up to Sizwe for contributing so much in the hip hop game, but in the process there were some weights thrown at Rashid Kay and his reasoning towards rappers who have joined the Amapiano movement.

The tweep asked: “@SizweDhlomo quick question. Back to your younger day’s especially ku Y (SizScopp day’s). Do you regard yourself a more experienced hip hop head or now seyishayile you’ve got that grandpa groove, more chilled and into soul. LOL i swear i saw white hair yaz?“

Responding to that, he said he is no longer in the streets and he has no plans to go back that route. Hip Hop is a young man’s game. I’m not I’m the streets like I used to be but perhaps more importantly, I have no desire to be.

The conversation took a twisted turn after Rashid Kay and Sizwe Dhlomo comparison became the subject.

“I wish your homeboy Rashid (from Metro FM) would take notes his old as** is sounding like a hater dissing these rappers for jumping ship to the yanos like real rap pays enough to be loyalty only to in this country…“

New TV show where women ask their men to marry them causes chaos on social media

New TV show where women ask their men to marry them causes chaos on social media. Historically, the men would do the planning, choose the ring (with maybe some hints from the prospective bride) and decide on when and where to propose. But times have changed and so have the proposals.

It’s usually seen as one of the most important days in a woman’s life. They day her partner says “Will you marry me?” and she decides whether or not she wants to spend the rest of her life with the person.

Now a new show on Honey TV is giving women an opportunity to ask for their partner’s hand in marriage, a concept that is still new in South Africa.

The show has only had a couple of episodes out and South Africans have a lot to say about it. Who will pay lobola then? Do they buy rings? These are some of the questions that have popped up since Will He Say Yes? hit the screens.

Presenters Pamela Mtanga and Karabo Ntshweng chat to Drum about the show, describing it as a feel good show that is all about empowering women.

“It is all about women who decide to take matters into their own hands, take the plunge and challenge societal norms. This show is really for people who can keep an open mind,” Pamela says. Karabo says the women in the show should really be seen as an inspiration.

“Marriage proposals aside, these women are doing something that will make them happy, talking ownership of their lives and happiness. I do believe many people watching the show will relate to them and many may even wish they were brave enough to do the same too,” she says.

Both Pamela and Karabo agree that the content of the show will be relatable for women in different marital statuses, like themselves. Pamela is single and Karabo is engaged.

In terms of African culture, men must pay lobola when they want to get married and Pamela says, as a show, they do not get involved in the conversation of who will be responsible for lobola since it is the women proposing.

“Asizingeni (we are not getting involved),” she laughs. “The fact that women are proposing on the show does not absolve men or mean that culture should be disregarded. Women are just pushing their partners in the right direction, but they can still commit to culture.”

They say there were moments where they too were not sure if the men would accept the proposals. Though she is not ready yet, Pam would like to get married too, one day.

“There is absolutely no rush. After spending so much time with Karabo I also learnt that it is ok to take your time in a relationship. To experience each other, to explore and travel together and make mistakes together without rushing into marriage. Once you have done all that and still choose each other, then get married,” she says.

Karabo recently got engaged to her longtime boyfriend of 11 years and she says she would not have it any other way.

“We have been together since I was 19 and my 20s were really my selfish years where I could do whatever I wanted. I had no interest in getting married in my 20s and this is by no means a judgement to those who decide to marry young, but I just felt that I need to know who I am and now I am ready. Babies are still going to wait for a while though,” she says.

“This show is so great because we get to see beautiful South African stories where women are wearing their hearts on the sleeves and showing their affection. I was constantly reminded of the quote that says ‘well behaved women seldom make history’ – not that the show is reckless, but because these women are breaking boundaries and going against societal norms. They are going out there to chase their happiness,” Karabo adds.

Pamela says she would like people who watch the show to walk away feeling empowered and inspired.

“I really feel like this is a feel-good show. Hopefully people will remember that whatever they want to do in their lives, they must just go for it. It does not have to be marriage. People must always remember that they do not have to do things the way they have always been done,” she adds.

If you’re a broke but very attractive, young woman who has clean habits, then Inno Morolong wants to party with you. Sounds very dodgy right? that’s because it probably is. The socialite trended after she posted this unsettling announcement on Instagram with people bring up the past rumours and allegations levelled against her.

Inno Morolong took to IG and shared that she is looking for girls to spend their December with her but they have to be young and extremely beautiful – not to forget clean!

“It’s December…ladies if you look good but you stressed about money for drinks, don’t worry I got you. If you are beautiful and clean then you can definitely party with me at my events nd drinks for free. Just DM me with your pictures. If I reply to you then you can come to my table,” requested Inno.
Social media users found this request very unsettling and so they dragged her with others alleging that she is a pimp. These rumours made rounds a few years ago and she sparked them once more with this post.

Phil Mphela someone who is very vocal about social issues told women to be careful.

As much as the suspect in question I forgave, I’m still taking legal action against her, a case has already been opened at the Midrand police station, my lawyers are now in talks with her, and she is kind of dodging us right now but eventually you can’t run away from the law forever.”

“I was blackmailed to go to that popcorn room live thing, but I also thought to myself, let me go to see where she lives, so I can tell the police when the time comes. So now people think I’m a clown, but look now with her dodging us at least we know where one of her people live. It was a sacrifice for the case,” she told the publication.

Passenger hijacks fully loaded pirate taxi. Tapuwa Mabvunga, of Dudley Farm, has since been charged with theft of a motor vehicle as well as driving without a licence.

Police in Marondera on Monday arrested a 29-year-old man who hijacked a vehicle he was a passenger after the driver went to relieve himself in the bush, leaving the keys on the ignition.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachii yesterday confirmed the incident, and urged motorists not to leave vehicle keys on the ignition.

“We urge motorists to be cautious always. They should not leave their engines on or car keys on ignition to avoid such incidents,” he said.

According to police, on December 6 at around 8am, Peter Katukuta (61) was driving a Honda Fit from Wedza to Marondera with four passengers on board. As he approached the Dudley Farm area, he stopped the vehicle and rushed into a nearby bush to relieve himself.

Mabvunga seized the opportunity and jumped onto the driver’s seat before driving off with the other three passengers towards Marondera. After driving for a distance, the suspect stopped and ordered the passengers to get out of the car before speeding off.

A report was made to the police who intercepted the suspect in Marondera town, leading to his arrest. He is set to appear in court.

Mnangagwa repeated Mugabe’s mistake on VPs

Mnangagwa repeated Mugabe’s mistake on VPs. Exiled former Information Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo has said President Emmerson Mnangagwa made an error in choosing his deputies, a mistake that was also made by his predecessor, the late Robert Mugabe.

Moyo said the two leaders should not have appointed powerful Vice Presidents who were also the source of their power. Said Moyo:

In African countries where a President’s source of the presidency is a powerful VP, and not a democratic election; that President’s tenure is a borrowed one, and thus can be ended anytime. That is what happened to (Robert Gabriel) Mugabe after he made (Emmerson Dambudzo) Mnangagwa, who was his source of power, a VP!

Bob’s mistake was to appoint Mnangagwa as his VP, a mistake he would not have made had Solomon (Rex Nhongo) Mujuru been around. Once Mnangagwa became VP, it was game over for Mugabe. This is admitted, in fact, asserted, in Mnangagwa’s official biography, “A Life of Sacrifice” by Eddie Cross!

Mugabe was toppled in 2017 in a military-assisted transition dubbed ‘Operation Restore Legacy’ that followed the dismissal of Mnangagwa who was then VP.

Vice President Constantino Guveya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga who was the military boss at the time deployed troops onto the troops in response to the dismissal of his ‘friend,’ Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Moyo’s remarks come when there are reports that suggest that the VP is leading a faction that is pushing to dislodge Mnangagwa from power.

Actress and DJ Thuli Phongolo was slammed by Tweeps after she revealed she wanted to remain single, via a tweet on Tuesday 7 December.

Thuli Phongolo hinted that she had relationship struggles as she expressed she wants to remain single. In a tweet she said that dating is the circus she describes as “clownology” and she failed that course.

“Yhu hayi, let me just remain single yeva! I can’t work so hard, get exhausted and still go home to deal with a circus. What in the clownology is thaaaart!? I’ve failed this course!” she tweeted.

Some Tweeps questioned who the new guy was.

Others brought up DJ Maphorisa and thought she should be a guest on the controversial Podcast And Chill with MacG.

“You broke Phoris heart,” wrote @jov_ice.

“What about you visit MacG and give us something to talk about this December, something which won’t involve police and court of law. Something kabo Phori and Mr Jazziq,” wrote @jstIsy1.

While others were supportive.

“I feel your pain. your emotions and feelings are Valid. you will find happiness and Peace soon. believe it. I am here if you need a shoulder to cry on,” wrote @MichaelBucwa.

Tweeps took this as an opportunity to troll Thuli because of her alleged relationship with DJ Maphorisa. The actress sparked romance rumours with DJ Maphorisa in October, after a video of the pair sharing an intimate moment went viral.

However, Tweeps seemed to think Thuli was using DJ Maphorisa to boost her DJ career. While others seemed to think he was too “dark skin” for her, which sparked a conversation of colourism on Twitter.

She later sparked romance rumours with musician Mr JazziQ. After Mr JazziQ posted two photos with Thuli on Instagram, Tweeps jumped to the conclusion that they were romantically linked. Although the pair both denied it, DJ Maphorisa began to trend on Twitter.
