Gloomy Festive Season for Civil Servants

$

Gloomy Festive Season for Civil Servants. The Government paid civil servants’ bonuses in US dollars last month but some of them failed to access the funds after their banks compulsorily liquidated the money into Zimbabwe dollars.

Civil servants will this year have the worst festive season since 2008 due to low salaries amid a sharp rise in the prices of goods and services, unions representing Government workers have said.

Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA) president Enock Dongo urged the Government to give nurses their December salaries in US dollars as some nurses failed to access the bonus in forex. Said Dongo: Looking at the November bonus given to nurses, there is definitely nothing to celebrate because a significant number failed to access the bonus in forex.

As a result, even if they get their December salaries, they cannot afford to buy clothes and other goodies for their family to enjoy the festive season. Government should give nurses their December salaries in US dollars because we cannot count on the November bonus.

In a statement, the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) appealed to the Government to urgently review teachers’ salaries with urgency. PTUZ said:

Civil servants are about to have the worst Christmas ever since 2008, and if salaries are not adjusted in January, it will be hell on earth. Mthuli Ncube, Public Service Commission, your employees are starving. $25 000-30 000 (salary earned) is a dog’s breakfast.

Zimbabwe National Teachers Union Manuel Nyawo said the paltry bonuses have already been eroded by the rising prices of goods and services. He said: Our members remain very desperate. There is no real bonus to talk about. Prices have already gone up and the little income they got as a bonus has already been spent on very few items.

The disposable income is just an eyesore and we want to appeal to the employer to pay us more so we are able to join our parents in the rural areas and enjoy Christmas with them. Come January 2022 we need money for our children’s school fees as well as money for food and transport.

The situation before us is very worrisome and action is needed on the part of the government. Civil servants want their salaries in US dollars considering that most goods and services, including fuel and gas, are being sold in foreign currency.

Clinic shuts down after Nurses run away from s.e.x crazed goblins

Clinic shuts down after Nurses run away from s.e.x crazed goblins. The attacks have also been reported at the nearby Shale Primary School where some teachers are threatening to leave if the problem is not dealt with as a matter of urgency.

A clinic that was opened in February this year in Umzingwane district, Matabeleland South, has been forced to close after nurses complained of being sexually abused by invisible creatures suspected to be goblins (tokoloshes).

Shale Clinic was built through combined funding from devolution funds, the constituency development fund and contributions from the local authority, the Umzingwane Rural District Council.

Its closure has left villagers with no option but to travel as far as Esigodini for treatment. Temba Moyo, a villager who spoke to ZimLive, said:

The clinic is closed because two female nurses and a male health technician ran away after complaining that they were being s.e.xually abused. They woke up moist in their privates with signs that they had s.e.xual intercourse. This was happening at night.

At the moment there’s just a janitor and nurse aide who live in the community. Moyo said a village meeting was called after they concluded that the bizarre occurrences were the work of goblins.

The meeting resolved to enlist the services of prophets or traditional leaders to deal with the goblins. It was also agreed that whoever is found “guilty” would pay for the services of the exorcists and the owner of the tikoloshes would also be banished from the village.

Moyo said the villagers hired a member of an apostolic sect from Rusape and all the villagers were called for the cleansing ceremony. He said a local ZANU PF councillor was pointed out as the owner of the tikoloshes but she quickly reported the matter to the police who arrested the prophets and later fined them US$20 each at Esigodini and released them.

Local headman Man Nkala told ZimLive that he was in discussions with the acting chief to deal with the problem and get the clinic to reopen.

Another villager who declined to be named told the publication that the attacks started in September this year. Added the villager: There were two nurses and a health technician. They initially started complaining about being tired when reporting for duty in the morning and were claiming that they were not having restful nights.

They then opened up and explained what was happening at the clinic. The male health technician had a torrid time one night with the creatures pulling his pen!s and test!cles.

He struggled walking in the morning as his privates were swollen. His wife had a miscarriage recently and we believe this could be linked to the tikoloshe issue.

They left as they could stand the abuse anymore. The head nurse and the health technician have gone on leave while the other nurse was reportedly redeployed to Mpisini Clinic in the district.

At nearby Shale Primary School, it is claimed teachers are also being molested by the goblins. The tokoloshes are raping female teachers while men wake up with swollen privates, a villager claimed.

Arsenal crash Leeds United 4 – 1

Arsenal crash Leeds United 4 – 1. Two goals from Gabriel Martinelli helped Arsenal sweep past an injury-hit Leeds at Elland Road to secure their third successive Premier League victory.

Martinelli’s double and Bukayo Saka’s deflected effort made it 3-0 before half-time as the Gunners ruthlessly capitalised on an error-strewn Leeds performance.

Raphinha pulled one back from the penalty spot in the second half, before Arsenal substitute Emile Smith Rowe wrapped up an emphatic victory for Mikel Arteta’s side late on.

The scoreline could have been greater but for an impressive performance by Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier, who made fine stops to deny Saka, Alexandre Lacazette, Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney.

ED challenged in court

The Zanu PF youth member dragging Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa to court says he won’t withdraw the case.

Sybeth Musengezi alleges Mnangagwa illegally took power from then-president Robert Mugabe in 2017, following a military coup.

Mnangagwa’s lawyers have demanded he drop the case.

Musengezi approached the High Court in Bulawayo last month, and filed an application seeking the nullification of Mnangagwa as Zanu PF leader.

He is arguing that on 19 November 2017 a Zanu PF governing body, the Central Committee, appointed Emmerson Mnangagwa as the party president and first secretary but this was in violation of the party’s constitution and therefore unlawful and null and void.

Musengezi said, “I realized that he is an illegal leader, he ascended to power in an illegal manner through the 19 November 2019 meeting which was held against the party constitution.”

Musengezi adds that Mugabe’s former vice-president Phelekezela Mphoko was supposed to have chaired that meeting.

“According to the party constitution the meeting that they purported to have held on19 November 2017 was not convened properly the person who superintended that meeting did not have mandate as per the party constitution, only President Mugabe at that time could preside over that meeting in his absence. Cde Mphoko Phelekezela who was the vice-President is the one who was suppose to take over in the event that President Mugabe is not available because Emmerson Mnangagwa had been expelled.”

Mnangagwa’s lawyers wrote to Musengezi last month demanding he withdraw the case but he is refusing.

Musengezi says what motivated him to challenge Mnangagwa’s presidency is that Zimbabweans are suffering under his leadership.

Mnangagwa has been president of Zimbabwe for the past four years after taking over from late president Robert Mugabe who ruled the country for nearly four decades.

Actress Buhle Samuels has poured cold water on claims that she was fired from popular e.tv telenovela, Imbewu: The Seed.

This after news broke that she was allegedly shown the door when she had different views on the character and story development.

In turn, she released a statement sharing that she left at her own free will.

“The truth is that I declined the offer. I didn’t want to play a gold digger again. I would like to challenge myself and the production knew that, but still wrote a gold digger role,” she said.

Buhle, who was also allegedly fired from Muvhango, shared that she was never fired, and was tired of being labelled a diva.

“I left because I felt that I needed growth, and didn’t feel it was possible in that environment. Next thing, I’m being labelled hard to work with and a diva. I have never been that person in any production, and the people I have worked with can attest to this.”

She added that it was irritating that people continued to spread fake news about her.

“I keep quiet about so much. I hate how people project their stereotypes onto me. It irks me.”

Stogie T sues Nota Baloyi for defamation

Top hip-hop music executive and trends influencer Nota Nhlamulo Baloyi seems unfazed by the defamation lawsuit filed against him by rapper and businessman Boitumelo Molekane, popularly known by his stage name Stogie T, after Baloyi allegedly called the veteran lyricist a woman basher on social media.

According to court papers filed at the Johannesburg High Court, dated November 25, Molekane is demanding R500 000 and proclaims that the comments made by Baloyi on his Twitter page caused irreversible reputational harm to his brand.

However, Baloyi said that in his tweets, published on October 3, he merely pointed out that Molekane tried to punch him but missed, instead hitting an unsuspecting woman behind him on the jaw at a lavish eatery in Sandton.

He said:

I have not received the summons, but it’s strange because he was the one who tried to assault me. I have everything on camera and there are a lot of witnesses and his lawsuit has no legs. I am not even going to instruct my attorney to defend this. I want to do it myself.

Baloyi made a name for himself during his tenure as the business manager of rapper Senzo “Kwesta” Vilakazi. He is also married to Afro-pop sensation Gugulethu Khumalo, known by her stage name Berita.

According to Molekane’s combined summons, the tweets read: “I confronted @TumiMolekane weeks after a scuffle with a friend defending my honour 2 weeks ago. Stogie T struck a black woman’s jaw with a clenched fist in the ensuing chaos. I saw him hiding in the corner, walked up and said I heard you’re looking for me? He swung & missed!”

“Moral of the story, he missed me and only hits black women…. Fortunately, I was able to drag [him] to the ground by his extended arm and his collar. His fist punched the titled [sic] floor as he hit the ground face first, where enamel met ceramic. I hope @levelthreevenue have CCTV footage….”

The papers further alluded that the tweets portrayed Molekane as having no regard for gender-based violence.

“The allegations contained in these social media posts are not only false and hurtful, but deliberately intended to humiliate and label the plaintiff unfavourably and to destroy his good name and reputation among his peers in the industry and his fans.”

The papers said that Baloyi’s comments were reckless and could jeopardise Molekane’s ability to secure gigs and generate an income.

The plaintiff was defamed and his reputation in the esteem of the reasonable listener of the general public was gravely lowered … and he suffered damages in the amount of R500 000.

They also lamented that Baloyi refused to retract the statements upon being served with a letter of demand.

Molekane did not respond to a written enquiry and his phone rang unanswered.

More than 90 dead in Philippines typhoon: officials

More than 90 people have been killed in the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines this year, official tallies showed on Sunday, as efforts to deliver water and food to devastated islands ramped up. More than 300,000 people fled their homes and beachfront resorts as Typhoon Rai ravaged the southern and central regions of the archipelago.

The storm knocked out communications and electricity in many areas, ripped off roofs, damaged hospitals, toppled concrete power poles and flooded villages.

Arthur Yap, governor of the popular tourist destination Bohol, said on his official Facebook page that mayors on the devastated island had so far reported 63 deaths in their towns. Ten people also died on the Dinagat Islands, provincial information officer Jeffrey Crisostomo told AFP.

That took the overall number of reported deaths to 99, according to the latest official figures. But the toll was likely to rise as disaster agencies assessed the full extent of the death and destruction from the storm across the vast archipelago.

Rai smashed into the country Thursday as a super typhoon packing wind speeds of 195 kilometres (120 miles) per hour.

Thousands of military, police, coast guard and fire personnel are being deployed to assist in search and rescue efforts in the worst-affected areas.

Coast guard and naval vessels carrying food, water and medical supplies are being dispatched, while heavy machinery — like backhoes and front-end loaders — are being sent to help clear roads blocked by fallen power poles and trees.

“It’s going to be a long, tough road for people to rebuild and get their lives back on track,” said Alberto Bocanegra, head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the Philippines.
The organisation appealed for 20 million Swiss francs ($21.6 million) to fund urgent relief and recovery efforts.

An aerial survey of damage to parts of Bohol — known for its beaches, rolling “Chocolate Hills”, and tiny tarsier primates — showed “our people have suffered greatly”, Yap said.

There has also been widespread destruction on Siargao, Dinagat and Mindanao islands, which bore the brunt of Rai when it slammed into the Philippines.

On one episode of Have Faith, Kim told the public the father of her child was a wealthy businessman and one day. She heard from the grapevine that he got married while she was expecting. Twitter shames Sithelo Shozi after Andile Mpisane dumps her

Drama after drama in Mzansi! Just last month Andile Mpisane was luxury car shopping for his baby mama Sithelo Shozi. Today, however, he is married to another woman; Tamia Louw.

The 20-year-old rapper and soccer club owner shocked fans after he married his new girlfriend out of the blue.

Fans were left scratching their heads as to what could have transpired in a month since we last saw the son of Shauwn Mpisane and Sithelo Shozi together.

And whilst many social media users have sympathized with the DJ, others claim the humiliating act is “karma” coming back to haunt her.

Tweeps are no doubt referring to rumours that Sithelo conceived a baby with Phillip Maseko aka “Lord Phil” whilst he was still married to his then-wife Thandeka Sibiya.

Whilst Andile Mpisane, his new bride Tamia and his mom Shauwn have been posting up a storm of their impromptu wedding ceremony, Sithelo Shozi has shunned the spotlight.

Whilst many tweeps expressed their sympathy over Sithole Shozi’s public humilation, others reminded her of her past transgressions.

Following her rumoured affair with Lord Phil which resulted in the birth of their baby boy Makhosini, Sithelo was accused of cyberbullying Thandeka online.

According to tweeps, Sithelo even dragged Thandeka’s son with Lord Phil into her nasty rants.

“Her and her friends made fun of Thandeka and called her son ugly. I have no empathy for Sithelo. She’s getting exactly what she deserves”

“Sithelo went on to bully Thandeka online. Not only that, she bullied Thandekas son, a baby at the time calling him ugly”

“This is well deserved karma for Sithelo”

“What Andile Mpisane did to Sithelo is exactly what Sithelo did to Thandeka Sibiya. Karma will locate ýou eventually”

“Uyathendeka’s tears are finally paying off I guess. Karma is a b****h I won’t lie and it hits when it’s least expected”

Police sucked into the AFM Church dispute saga

Police sucked into the AFM Church dispute saga. This comes after the police allegedly sat on a docket of one of Chiangwa’s supporters, Thomas Gwatidzo, who fired shots at AFM Faith Alive Assembly in Westgate last month.

The Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe has accused some police officers from Marlborough police station in Harare of siding with a breakaway faction led by Reverend Cossam Chiyangwa.

Chiangwa reportedly sent Gwatidzo, who is a deacon, and other men to try and wrestle the church from his rival, Reverend Amon Madawo and his followers. Gwatidzo reportedly fired shots at a guard from a local company, who had been contracted by the legitimate leadership of the AFM led by Madawo to guard the church.

The Madawo camp is alleging that some police officers, especially the officer-in-charge at Marlborough, are unwilling to act on the matter.

But Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said both factions reported each other and the cases are in the hands of the National Prosecution Authority (NPA). Said Nyathi: You remember that there were two dockets as the factions counter reported each other.

One of the dockets is coming to court on 26 January next year, and the parties will be summoned. However, the other one is still in the hands of the prosecution for further handling. It’s untrue that the police are sitting on the cases.

We want to appeal to the AFM people to do whatever they are doing lawfully. This is our message to the warring factions. Police will not hesitate to arrest them if they do their things unlawfully.

Madawo told The Sunday Mail that they are yet to receive an update from the police on the case since the day they reported the matter. He said: You can inquire about that from the officer-in-charge at Malborough police station. We made a report and there’s nothing we have heard since then.

Chiangwa said he has nothing to do with the work of the police and was relaxed about the whole issue. He said: I have nothing to do with the police. I don’t work for the police. I only wait to be called since they are the ones who made a report to the police.

The church belongs to God. Why should I fight? God fights for himself. I am relaxed at home and I have nothing to say to the police about their work.

The shooting incident allegedly took place on 12 November around 1.46 AM, a few hours after Chiyangwa and his faction had lost another legal battle to the Madawo faction.

The High Court had ruled the previous day that the Chiangwa faction had to vacate the church’s Westgate property that they had forcibly taken over in October.

AfDB donates 10 Trucks to ZESA worth US$810 000. The vehicles were procured through the AfDB funded post Cyclone Idai Emergency Recovery and Resilience Project for Zimbabwe.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has donated 10 trucks worth US$810 000 to the Zimbabwe Electricity Distribution Company (ZETDC) to capacitate the electricity distribution arm of power utility ZESA Holdings respond timeously to incidents.

They were handed over to Local Government and Public Works Minister, July Moyo, by the bank’s country manager, Moono Mupotola, at a function held in Harare on Tuesday. Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, Moyo said the Government has escalated preparedness for any disasters during the 2021/22 rainy season. Added Moyo:

We are humbled to be receiving this donation of eight crane trucks and two NP200 pick-up trucks which will go a long way to capacitate ZETDC to improve electricity supply in Manicaland as well as facilitate timeous response to incidents.

The government remains indebted to you and our development partners for your efforts towards recovery and resilience building. It is only through concerted efforts that we will be able to realise an empowered upper-middle-income economy by 2030.

Mupotola said AfDB is working together with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to repair damaged infrastructure in Chipinge and Chimanimani. She said: We are working with our implementation partners, UNOPS, in infrastructure rehabilitation, water and sanitation programmes in Chimanimani and Chipinge.

In Gaza township in Chipinge Town, 2 000 houses had septic tanks installed, while work on the refurbishment of the Machongwe-Rusitu road is already in progress.

We are also complementing Government’s efforts through ZETDC to bring convenience to the people of Zimbabwe by having a safe and reliable electricity supply. If disaster strikes, ZETDC is now adequately equipped to respond and restore electricity.

Honda Fit occupants force a 20-year-old woman to drink spiked alcohol. The woman fell unconscious only to wake up later naked with bloodstains on her thighs. ZRP spokesperson in Bulawayo Province Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

A 20-year-old Bulawayo woman was allegedly gang-r@ped by seven men who had forced her to gulp a spiked drink. He warned members of the public against boarding pirate taxis saying they would be putting their lives at risk. Said Ncube:

Pirate taxis are usually used by criminals and as such people would be putting their lives at risk. They should use public transport which bears ZUPCO log. Allegations are that the woman boarded a Honda Fit car that had seven male occupants heading to the Emhlangeni suburb.

When they had reached a fuel service station close to her suburb, the young woman told the driver that she had reached her destination. One of the men allegedly grabbed her and shut her mouth while warning her not to scream.

The suspects then forced her to drink spiked alcohol after which they took her to a house in North End suburb where they gang-r@ped her.

When she regained consciousness, she reported the matter at Queens Park police station. Police referred her to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for medical examination.

Actress Amanda Du-Pont responds to Mama Jackie

Media personalities Amanda Du-Pont and Masechaba Khumalo, who both accused musician Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye of s.e.xual assault, have dared his mother, Ithuteng “Mama Jackie” Mpambani, to “bring it on” after ignoring her demands for an apology.

Mpambani demanded an apology and a retraction of the allegations by the Skeem Saam actress and the former Metro FM host that Maarohanye had raped each of them more than a decade ago.

Amanda Du-Pont, who said she had been in a relationship with Maarohanye for two years, made the allegations on social media in response to his disparaging remarks about her on Macgyver “MacG” Mukwevho’s podcast earlier this month.

But the two women’s lawyers this week said that they had advised Khumalo and Du-Pont to ignore Mpambani’s demands contained in letters served on them via WhatsApp and email on Wednesday.

Their lawyer, Mabu Marweshe, of Marweshe Attorneys, said that, after consulting with prominent Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi on the matter, they were finalizing criminal and civil cases against Maarohanye.

“We confirm that we have received the letters and we will respond in due course. But we cannot comment on the other two cases right now.

We will issue a statement once our clients have made their statements under oath with the police, and we have also issued our court papers.”Marweshe said that, by not responding to Mpambani’s letters of demand, his clients were inviting her to take further steps.

Mpambani’s letter followed Du-Pont’s emotional 17-minute video on her Instagram page earlier this month in which she accused Maarohanye of raping her at his home for two years while they were in a relationship.

She said that she had not been able to speak out about the alleged rape at the time because she had been afraid of his mother.

Du-Pont’s video followed Maarohanye’s controversial interview on Podcast and Chill with MacG, during which he spoke disparagingly about his relationships with her and musician Kelly Khumalo.

In her video response, Du-Pont also alluded to a case in which Mpambani had allegedly siphoned into her personal account money donated to her charity by American media mogul Oprah Winfrey and accused her of using muti.

Khumalo then came out in support of Du-Pont, claiming that Maarohanye had raped her at Mpambani’s home in Naturena, Johannesburg, more than a decade ago.

This week, Mpambani gave the two women 48 hours to retract their allegations and apologize to her.

She threatened to take the matter to court if they did not heed her demands.

In the letters signed by Amorette Gangel of BDK Attorneys, which the publication has seen, she accused Du-Pont and Khumalo of tarnishing her image.

“Our instructions are to record, as we hereby do, that by posting the aforementioned video, you are purposefully misguiding members of the public by stating and/or implying that our client is a criminal, our client was involved in unsavoury and fraudulent dealings with Oprah [Winfrey], that our client has some hold over her son and further that our client practises with muti,” reads the letter to Du-Pont.

“Our client sympathetically denies that she was in any manner involved in your relationship with her son and that she deals or has ever dealt with muti.”

Mpambani also denied being involved in any money laundering and fraudulent activities, adding that Du-Pont’s utterances had caused her “reputational damage”.

“Our instructions are therefore to demand, as we hereby do, that you forthwith and within 48 hours of receipt of this letter … remove the video post from your Instagram page as well as any other platforms on which you may have posted the aforementioned video,” the lawyer wrote.

“Confirm per return that you will not create and/or post any further defamatory post that concerns our client.”

The letter also demanded that Du-Pont publish a written apology to Mpambani. Khumalo was served with a separate letter demanding an apology for sharing Du-Pont’s post in a show of support.

“Regrettably, from your conduct and by making the false allegations against our client, you have little regard for the interest of justice or our client’s constitutional right to privacy and dignity.

“Our instructions are that the Twitter post was posted by you in order to defame, insult and shame our client.”

The letter demanded that Khumalo delete her social media posts, retract the accusations and apologise to Mpambani. But the two women are sticking to their guns.

Ex-MP Killer Zivhu backs Chief Murinye: Truth follows no protocol

Ex-MP Killer Zivhu backs Chief Murinye: Truth follows no protocol. Former Chivi South Member of Parliament Killer Zivhu (ZANU PF) has thrown his weight behind Masvingo traditional leader, Chief Murinye, born Ephias Munodawafa after he was threatened with disciplinary action by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga for publicly condemning corruption in the upper echelons of government.

Speaking at a funeral wake in Masvingo last weekend, Chief Murinye warned President Emmerson Mnangagwa that he would lose the presidential race in the next election or be overthrown in a coup if he fails to clamp down on corrupt government officials.

Commenting on Murinye’s remarks during the Annual Chiefs’ Conference held in Harare on Friday and presided over by Mnangagwa, Chiwenga ordered chiefs to follow protocol if they have any issues to raise with the Government.

Zivhu believes chiefs do not need to follow protocol to speak the truth. In a tweet this Sunday, the outspoken former legislator said:

Ndasarudza to stand with Chief Murinye, chokwadi hachineyi kuti chataurwa through protocol or not. Chero mukadzingwa hazvina basa umambo huri muropa kwete pachisimbi chiya chinonzi nyembe, mota ikatorwa fambai netsoka hazviurayi. Retweet kana uchimira na chief Murinye.

I have decided to stand with Chief Murinye. Truth is truth whether you have followed protocol or not. Even if they dethrone you (Chief Murinye), it doesn’t matter, the chieftaincy is in your blood not on the chief’s badge. If they repossess your car, take it in your stride, you won’t die. Retweet if you stand with Chief Murinye.

The traditional leader angered the authorities when he accused Mnangagwa and his top executive of turning a blind eye to corruption. He was addressing mourners at the funeral of Public Service Commission official Elson Gonye.

Ex- ZBC boss joins race for top ZANU PF post. Happison Muchechetere is among the five candidates that submitted their curriculum vitae (CVs) to contest the post ahead of yesterday’s deadline.

Former Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) boss and current ZANU PF Veterans of the Liberation Struggle League (ZVLSL) chairperson Happison Muchechetere will contest the post of ZANU PF Mashonaland West provincial chairperson.

The other candidates are Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs minister Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, Deputy Information minister Kindness Paradza, acting provincial chairperson Abia Mujeri and provincial youth leader Vengai Musengi.

Mujeri, who is believed to be aligned to a ZANU PF faction backing Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, has the support of former chairperson and politburo member Ziyambi Ziyambi.

A ZANU PF faction aligned to President Emmerson Mnangagwa is reportedly backing Mliswa-Chikoka, a sister to former Mashonaland West provincial chairperson and now an independent MP, Temba Mliswa.

In separate interviews with The Standard, the aspiring candidates expressed confidence in landing the provincial chairpersons’ post.

Paradza said: “My time to lead is now. I am ahead of the pack because I’m mature, composed and more experienced.” Musengi said he submitted his CV on Friday and believes his chances of winning are very high as he claims to control most districts in the province.

He said only Paradza will give him a good run for his money otherwise the other three candidates have no chance. Mujeri claimed some candidates might be disqualified if they fail to meet the requirements, paving the way for him to land the post. He added:

I have 25 years in the province in a senior position, but some candidates like the two ministers are so busy that they are failing to report back to their constituency, what more if they are given extra responsibilities of driving the party in the province.

ZVLSL secretary Anthony Zunzanyika said they want Muchechetere to lead the province to ensure the party does not lose its revolutionary ideology. The Standard said they could not reach Mliswa-Chikoka to get her comment.

ZANU PF Youth challenging Mnangagwa’s Presidency refuses to back down

ZANU PF Youth challenging Mnangagwa’s Presidency refuses to back down. ZANU PF youth member, Sybeth Musengezi, says he will not withdraw his High Court application seeking the nullification of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ascendency to the helm of the ruling party.

Musengezi alleges Mnangagwa illegally took power in 2017 from then-president Robert Mugabe following a military coup.

He approached the High Court in Bulawayo last month and filed an application asking the court to invalidate Mnangagwa’s alleged power grab. Mnangagwa’s lawyers wrote to Musengezi last month demanding he withdraw the case, but he is having none of it.

In his application before the High Court, Musengezi said that the ZANU PF Central Committee appointed Mnangagwa as the party president and first secretary on 19 November 2017 in violation of the constitution.

He wants the decision by the Central Committee declared null and void. Musengezi said: I realised that he is an illegal leader, he ascended to power in an illegal manner through the 19 November 2019 meeting which was held against the party constitution.

According to the party constitution the meeting that they purported to have held on19 November 2017 was not convened properly the person who superintended that meeting did not have the mandate as per the party constitution, only President Mugabe at that time could preside over that meeting in his absence.

Cde Mphoko Phelekezela who was the Vice President is the one who was supposed to take over in the event that President Mugabe is not available because Emmerson Mnangagwa had been expelled.

Mnangagwa was voted the president of Zimbabwe in 2018, less than a year after taking over from late president Robert Mugabe, who had ruled the country for37 years.
