Dolly Parton has pulled out of the race to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year after receiving a nomination. The country music star, 76, said she did not feel she had “earned the right” to be featured on this year’s 17-strong shortlist.

She said in a post on Instagram: “Dolly here! Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.

I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again – if I’m ever worthy. This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock ‘n’ roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do!

The WWE on Tuesday announced that Scott Hall, also known as Razor Ramon has died at the age of 63. Hall had broken his hip last month as per reports and had severe health complications during the surgery.
He had 3 heart attacks on Monday and succumbed to it a day later.

Eighteen (18) special security agents arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) at a roadblock in Beitbridge on Saturday were denied bail by Beitbridge Resident Magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba on Tuesday.

They were denied bail after State prosecutor Tinayeishe Matenga argued that the accused are likely to interfere with police investigations.

The magistrate also noted that some of the accused ran away from the roadblock into the bushes when ZACC officers were making arrests and this showed that they would likely abscond if granted bail.

Their lawyer Muchihwande Forbes Sithole of Chauke and Associates had requested bail of ZWL$5 000 arguing that the accused are civil servants who are poorly remunerated.

The 18 security members were drawn from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) for the special operation.

The accused were arrested after they allegedly received an R2 000 bribe from a Sable Class Bus at around 6 AM on Saturday.

They had been trapped by police from the Anti-Corruption Unit who were inside the bus and immediately arrested them after they had taken the marked money.

Comedienne Madam Boss’ husband Ngonidzashe Munetsiwa, is in the eye of a public storm after a woman he allegedly impregnated threatened to commit suicide.

His shenanigans with Evangelister Zhou, an assistant dentist at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, came to light on Monday when the latter disclosed her intention to terminate the pregnancy.

Eva went on to post a video of herself downing a pesticide, threatening to take her life. She
said she was fed up of being abused by Ngonidzashe who reportedly sent someone to rush her to a doctor.

However, when contacted by a local publication, Ngonidzashe denied knowledge of Eva, describing the allegations as one of many stories cooked up to tarnish his image.

Eva told H-Metro Ngonidzashe had been ignoring her calls and messages since Friday, prompting her to confide in Pastor Jairos Maphosa of the Church of Asaph. “

“Ngonidzashe has been ignoring me since Friday,” said Eva.

“He is responsible for my pregnancy and when I sent him a video of myself downing a pesticide, he sent one of his friends to take me to a doctor.

“If you publish this story my fear is to be dumped forever.

My relatives are not happy to see me marrying Ngoni.

“If you publish this story I will surely come to be your second wife,” said Eva.

Ngonidzashe vehemently denied any knowledge of Eva saying a number of people had been calling him enquiring about the matter.

“You are not the first person asking me about Eva, but truly speaking, I do not know her.

“If you may send me her photographs,” said Ngonidzashe.

After receiving the photograph, he refused to entertain H-Metro.

He then sent threatening messages to Eva and barred her from talking to a local publication.

However, Pastor Maphosa realised Ngoni was abusing her and exposed Madam Boss husband.

Pastor Maphosa told a local publication Ngoni threatened Eva with unspecified action if she continued talking to the media.

“Evangelister has been fellowshipping with us for some time from the time she was still living in Mberengwa,” said Pastor Maphosa.

“She relocated to Harare and is still under church custody since she is an orphan and I could not allow someone to continue abusing her.

“Yesterday, (Monday) she sent some messages, including videos of herself taking a pesticide and threatening to take her life because of Ngonidzashe.

“She accused Ngoni of forcing her to terminate a pregnancy for the second time and this touched my heart.

“I am in South Africa, but I openly told Eva that Ngoni’s evil acts must be exposed because he was abusing her.

“This is not the first time Eva has threatened to take her life. She did the same after she was forced to terminate her first pregnancy.

Former Harare mayor and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) member Herbert Gomba was arrested on Monday on accusations of perjury and contravening electoral laws.

On Saturday CCC said Gomba (45) was missing after becoming unreachable on his phone just hours after police went to his house looking for him.

Gomba handed himself to the police on Monday in the company of his lawyers and was promptly arrested.

According to ZimLive, police had planned to charge Gomba with arson over a 2020 incident in which a car belonging to Gilbert Mbwende was set on fire outside his home in Belvedere.

Mbwende is the MDC-T’s Highfield East candidate for the 26 March by-elections.

After Mbwende had indicated that he wanted to withdraw the charges, Gomba went into hiding waiting for the charges to be withdrawn.

Mbwende withdrew his complaint on Sunday, and the following day, Gomba went to Harare Central Police Station with his lawyer Harrison Nkomo confident the charges had fallen away.

However, police arrested Gomba, accusing him of violating the Electoral Act on issues related to voter registration.

Police accuse Gomba of registering as a voter using a Glen Norah address where he does not live.

Gomba is also accused of registering a further 12 voters using his parents’ address and yet some of the people do not reside at the address.

The complainant is Jephson Matewe, the ZANU PF candidate for the Ward 27 by-election who has lost to Gomba three times in a row.

In the 2018 elections, Gombo garnered 7 676 votes to Matewe’s 1 918.

CCC says the charges are meant to block Gomba from contesting for the council seat in the 26 March by-elections.

The wearing of masks in public in Namibia and negative PCR tests for vaccinated visitors are no longer required, President Hage Geingob said on Tuesday, as active COVID-19 cases fall to just a couple of hundred. Infections peaked at more than 30,000 per month in June 2021 but the southern African country has averaged 14 cases per day during the last seven days, with the total active cases at 222.

“Wearing of masks in public places is no longer mandatory, “Geingob said in a televised briefing. People in closed spaces such as on public transport or in indoor public meetings were however encouraged to wear masks. Fully vaccinated travellers to Namibia are also no longer required to produce negative PCR test results.

Travellers to the country, famed for its stark desert-meets-ocean-landscape and safari drives, are now only allowed to produce a valid vaccination card at points of entry. Visitor numbers are currently at a third of pre-pandemic levels, according to Geingob.

Only 21.4% of Namibia’s eligible population of 1.7 million people have been fully vaccinated. The recommended population coverage to achieve national herd immunity is 60%.

The drama between DJ Sithelo and the Mpisane’s just keeps getting messier as MaMkhize is rumored to be selling the property in which Sithelo was staying at.

In December 2021, DJ Sithelo‘s baby daddy Andile Mpisane, shook the entire country after videos of him getting married to his wife Tamia Mpisane went viral on social media. Although many thought it was a publicity stunt or they were shooting a music video, that was not the case as homeboy was really getting married.

It appears at the time, the two were no longer staying together even. At some point Sithelo had even moved into Andile’s family’s muti-million mansion in Durban.

But, that ended after they called it quits. Now according to The Tea World, MamKhize has apparently put the apartment Sithelo was staying at on sale. The house is situated at Izinga Estate and it is selling at R6 4000. Does this mean Sithelo is homeless?

MaMkhize denied kicking Sithelo out of the property a few months ago. She said she was committed to ensuring that her grandchildren were well taken off.

“Nobody has been kicked out of any apartment nor have any kids been taken away from anybody. I remain committed to ensuring that my grandchildren grow up experiencing love from all sides and that they are well taken care of.,” she said.

She also rubbished rumours that she forced Andile to marry Tamia and said she had no ill-feelings against Sithelo.

“I personally have no grudges or any untoward feelings against the mother of my grandkids. She’s given me 2 beautiful grandchildren which binds us forever and I will always consider her to be like a daughter to me,” she states.

“As a mother it is my job to guide and support my sons decisions. And I would like it to known that I will never choose for him. I’ve lived my life and learnt my lessons! I will never take away the opportunity for him to live his own life and learn his lessons along the way,” she says.

According to her, she had good relationship with Sithelo and had even accepted her with her flaws. “I accepted the mother of my grandchildren with all her flaws ,whilst the whole world was blaming me but because I fully understand that nobody is perfect. Out of respect for all parties involved I will not be going into the details of their private affairs. They have both moved on with their lives and will continue co-parenting for the sake of the children,” she said.

Liverpool moved to within one point of Premier League leaders Manchester City as they emerged impressive winners after a tough examination at Arsenal.

The Gunners, well in the fight to finish in the top four, pushed Liverpool hard until Jurgen Klopp’s quadruple-chasing side ruthlessly took control after the break.

Liverpool keeper Alisson saved crucially from Martin Odegaard after Thiago’s misplaced backpass before Diogo Jota put Liverpool ahead, beating Aaron Ramsdale at his near post in the 54th minute.

Jota and Luis Diaz were immediately replaced by Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, the latter doubling Liverpool’s advantage just after the hour mark with a perfect flick from Andrew Robertson’s cross.

Liverpool have now reeled off nine Premier League wins in succession while Arsenal remain in fourth, a point ahead of Manchester United but with two games in hand.

Once Jota made the breakthrough for the visitors there was no way back for the Gunners, but before then the Reds were indebted to Alisson’s significant contribution when he made that block from Odegaard.

To that point Arsenal were in confident mood, playing fearlessly, but they were again undone by Jota – the scourge of Mikel Arteta’s team in the Carabao Cup semi-final in January – although the Portuguese was helped by Ramsdale’s weak effort to save his near-post shot.

Klopp’s Midas touch worked again when he removed Jota and substitute Firmino showed his silky touch to slide a near post flick past Ramsdale.

Arsenal were deflated and Liverpool moved even closer to Manchester City, who were held to a draw here in the capital by Crystal Palace on Monday.

The advantage still lies with Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions – but the margin is slender and this was another potentially difficult hurdle overcome by Liverpool.

Arsenal’s players were applauded off by the home fans at the final whistle in recognition of their efforts, especially the outstanding Gabriel Martinelli, who gave Trent Alexander-Arnold a torrid time.

And they remain in prime position to achieve their remaining goal this season, a place in the top four, but they are still finding it tough to overcome the sides they will eventually want to rival.

Liverpool have now completed the league double over Arsenal, as have Manchester City, while they have also lost at home to Chelsea and away to Manchester United.

The Gunners were in contention for a long time, led by the verve of Martinelli, but ultimately it was Liverpool who had the cutting edge and greater quality.

There is no doubt Arteta’s Arsenal are on an upward curve and this was a far more convincing performance than that League Cup loss, but there is no doubt they still have a long road to travel before the old glories can be contemplated once more.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to BBC MOTD: “From box to box, we did everything that we’d planned. What happened in the boxes was a different story, that’s where we lost the game.

“I think the whole team played fantastically well. I don’t think the result reflects the performance, but in the box they had the decisive moments. They put the ball in the net twice.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to BBC MOTD: “Coming here and winning against Arsenal is already special but winning the game like it was – more special. We started really well then it became an open game. We wanted to improve in the second half.

“I’m very excited about the team and the situation we are in but that does not change everything. We just need to keep going. We really want to enjoy the situation we are in by winning football matches.”

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte says Harry Kane “deserves to win something” after the forward scored and starred in their Premier League win at Brighton.

Kane’s seventh goal in six games sealed a deserved success for Spurs, who reignited their top-four hopes by condemning Brighton to a sixth successive Premier League defeat.

It also ensured the England forward has now scored more goals away from home (95) in the competition than any other player – and lifted him above Frank Lampard into fifth, with 178 goals, on the all-time list of Premier League scorers.

“I am happy for him because in every game he has many chances to score,” Conte said.

“At the start of the season he struggled a bit and didn’t score a lot and now he knows very well with this team he has great opportunities to score in every game.

“To have a striker like him makes us stronger but at the same time his feeling now is positive because he knows he will have chances. I think he deserves to win something in his career because we are talking about a fantastic player.”

The ease with which the Italian’s side won will concern Seagulls manager Graham Potter, whose side remain 13th having won just once in their last 10 matches.

By the time Kane had driven a low effort past Robert Sanchez, Tottenham were well in control. Cristian Romero had earlier put the visitors in front, deflecting in Dejan Kulusevski’s shot past the helpless Brighton goalkeeper, and into the bottom left corner.

The result sees Conte’s side move up to seventh in the table with 48 points three points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal having played a game more.

However, they are only two points behind fifth-placed Manchester United, level on points with West Ham and have a game in hand on both before they host the Hammers on Sunday.

In the build-up to the game Conte had challenged his senior players to help deliver Champions League qualification and, in a show of faith, he named the same starting XI that began their defeat at Old Trafford.

Kane did not disappoint, putting a glaring early miss behind him to ensure a favourable outcome for his side.

Having charged down an attempted Sanchez clearance the 28-year-old could not contain his look of disappointment as he placed a side-footed effort wide of a vacant Brighton goal.

However, it was not to last for long and his influence grew throughout the match.

He repeatedly dropped into pockets of space in midfield, but also showed the nous to run beyond the Brighton backline as he raced onto Rodrigo Bentancur’s pass to drive a low effort past Sanchez just before the hour.

His goal leaves him in distinguished company with only Alan Shearer (260), Wayne Rooney (208), Andrew Cole (187) and Sergio Aguero (184) having scored more Premier League goals.

A Sanchez save prevented him from curling his second of the night into the top corner, while he also had a late penalty claim turned down.

While Tottenham give the appearance of a side getting close to fulfilling their manager’s expectations, Brighton look shorn of confidence after a dismal run of form.

The Seagulls have now lost six consecutive league games for the first time since 2006, when they were in the Championship, and will come up against a Norwich side fighting for top-flight survival on Saturday 2 April in their first match after the international break.

That is followed by tough assignments at Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester City and they have the feel of a team wondering where their next points are coming from.

While they improved significantly after the break they rarely looked like cutting open the Spurs defence and unsurprisingly failed to register a single effort on target.

Thomas Tuchel wants Chelsea to be the side everyone wants to avoid in the Champions League quarter-final draw after the holders beat Lille at a lively Stade Pierre-Mauroy to secure a 4-1 aggregate win.

The Blues took a 2-0 first-leg lead to France but, in a match played amid continued uncertainty over the club’s future, they had to come from behind after a slow start to earn success in the return.

Burak Yilmaz pulled Lille back into the tie with a penalty after Jorginho handled, only for Christian Pulisic to reply in first-half injury time.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta then put the last-16 encounter beyond the French champions when he finished at the back post with 19 minutes remaining.

Tuchel’s side will find out their last-eight opponents in Friday’s draw.

“I want us to be the team nobody wants to play,” said Tuchel. “That’s the role we see ourselves in this last round of eight.

“It’s a big step to do it again and again – and that is why we fight for top-four places in maybe the toughest league in the world and we fight now again in the top eight teams [in Europe].

It was something of a passive performance from the Blues as Lille harried and pressed with intent, though the Premier League outfit were able to maintain control and show their quality when needed.

Developments regarding the club’s ownership continued to play out during the game as it was announced Lord Coe has joined a consortium led by ex-Liverpool chairman Sir Martin Broughton to buy the club, while former Chelsea striker Gianluca Vialli said he is working with Nick Candy on his bid.

Earlier the Ricketts family, who own Major League Baseball team the Chicago Cubs, confirmed they are leading a group of investors which will make an offer by Friday’s deadline.

Whether those off-field matters were a distraction or not, it was Lille who got a deserved 38th-minute opener following a bright start in which they made life uncomfortable for Chelsea.

Yilmaz placed his spot-kick in the top corner after Jorginho handled, with referee Davide Massa awarding the penalty after being told to view the pitchside monitor by the video assistant referee.

But to Chelsea’s credit they responded quickly and Jorginho made amends with a neat pass into Pulisic, who finished from a tight angle to dampen Lille’s renewed hope.

Xeka did head against the post for the hosts in the second half, but when Azpilicueta guided Mason Mount’s whipped ball in with his knee, the tie was over.

Chelsea will now wait to see what happens off the field, with Uefa also saying on Wednesday it was seeking clarification from the European Union on future Champions League matches involving the Blues after sanctions were imposed on Russian owner Roman Abramovich.

Abramovich, who is understood to have strong ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin, has had his assets frozen by the UK government and Chelsea have had to obtain a special licence to continue operating.

That has brought with it spending caps, though the club’s players and staff were able to fly to Lille for the game because those arrangements were already made prior to the sanctions.

Meanwhile, the Three logo was displayed on Chelsea’s changed yellow strip during the fixture despite the company saying it has requested the club finds a solution to remove it.

So while it may not have been a vintage performance, boss Tuchel will be pleased his side kept their focus and still have a chance to add to last season’s Champions League triumph.
