Cassper Nyovest on his friendship with Thando Thabethe

Mzansi rapper and businessman, Cassper Nyovest says he is still friends with Thando Thabethe and their friendship is not just for the socials.

The rapper replied to a tweep who asked him about his friendship with the broadcaster and businesswoman.

“We are still good friends. Like check on each other, real conversations. Even when I’m not feeling well I can pick up the phone and reach out to her. Not everything is on social media,” he replied.

This celebrity friendship is not the first to be in the spotlight. DJ Zinhle and Pearl Thusi recently had to pour cold water over a rumour that the fire in their friendship has died.

A video clip popped up on the TL, showing Pearl and Brandon with DJ Zinhle on stage at a recent gig. The audioless video showed Zinhle gesture Pearl away.

Taking to Twitter Zinhle set the record straight.

“Hey guys. I need to clear things up. Pearl and I had a great time and on the video you saw, I was gesturing to Brandon, whom I was playing a set with, to come and select the song because we were using his USBs,” she posted.

Pearl replied to Zinhle’s tweet saying it was obvious Zinhle and Brandon were working, so she gave them space.

“I’m actually so confused. I thought it was obvious that you guys were busy and I just decided to get out of the way. How it got to this point baffles me. Wild. That time we had so much fun.”

Leicester City 0 – 0 Crystal Palace

Leicester City was unable to ease the pressure on manager Brendan Rodgers as they were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Crystal Palace at King Power Stadium.

The Foxes had their moments but struggled to find impetus and remain in the bottom three, with the 4-0 win over bottom club Nottingham Forest two weeks ago appearing false dawn.

It felt like a day when the first goal would be crucial and Leicester’s nerves were evident from the start as Palace exerted early pressure.

But the home side sprung into life when Harvey Barnes and Patson Daka combined to unlock the Palace defence before Daka forced Vicente Guaita into a smart save.

Palace lacked zip in attack as the first half developed, but showed a spark through Eberechi Eze, who flashed a shot over from the edge of the box with the break looming.

In the second half, it was telling that James Maddison was seeing more of the ball, but he twice missed the target before the hour, shooting over from close range and then wide after driving forward.

As time ticked on, very little changed. Neither side was able to force the issue, despite the introduction of Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho. This game was there for Leicester’s taking, but confidence eluded them.

The stop-start nature of the game spoke volumes for both sides in different ways.

Palace was looking to frustrate first and do their damage on the counter-attack through Wilfried Zaha’s pace; they weren’t overly successful, but it pointed to deeper issues for Leicester.

Nervous energy filled the stadium and, given that the Foxes had lost seven out of their previous nine league games, that was understandable.

But it meant Leicester only attacked in spurts, with flashes from Barnes, Daka and Maddison, but never really enough to build momentum and win the game. Wout Faes, their only major summer signing, was their standout player at the back.

This was another long afternoon in what is becoming a long season for Rodgers’ side, summed up by the talismanic Maddison picking up a booking for simulation that will keep him out of Thursday’s match with Leeds.

Being substituted inside the last 15 minutes with the game still on a knife edge epitomised Zaha’s day.

There were moments for the visitors, with Eze particularly busy in midfield, but they couldn’t find the killer pass to make the difference when they had the chance.

Zaha cut a frustrated figure on an afternoon he’ll have come into hoping to have a decisive impact.

This is Palace’s second successive goalless draw on the road, and they didn’t do enough to gain all three points again.

Fulham 2 – 2 Bournemouth

Bournemouth remains unbeaten under interim manager Gary O’Neil following an entertaining 2-2 draw with Fulham.

The Cherries led through Dominic Solanke after just over a minute, but Issa Diop levelled for the hosts.

Jefferson Lerma restored the lead before half-time, but Aleksandar Mitrovic’s penalty early in the second half drew Fulham level again.

O’Neil has now overseen four draws and two victories since the sacking of Scott Parker in August.

Fulham battled well to come from behind twice and earn a point following consecutive defeats by Newcastle and West Ham.

The result leaves Bournemouth in ninth place in the Premier League, while Fulham is one place and a point below.

O’Neil continues to give himself a good chance of becoming the permanent successor to Parker after yet another impressive display by the Cherries.

Parker’s dismissal, following the 9-0 humiliation against Liverpool at Anfield, led to the 39-year-old stepping up but with the prospective takeover by Bill Foley yet to be finalised it seems certain that O’Neil will continue for now.

His confident side took just 64 seconds to get off to a fine start when a sublime pass from Marcus Tavernier allowed Philip Billing and Solanke to exchange passes before the former Liverpool striker placed his shot past Bernd Leno.

And they quickly shook off the setback of being pulled level by Fulham when Solanke set up Lerma, who gave Leno no chance from the edge of the box.

But following Mitrovic’s leveller, Bournemouth spent much of the second half on the back foot and rarely threatened to retake the lead for the third time.

They face Southampton at home on Wednesday and should relish the prospect of taking on their struggling near neighbours on the back of a six-game unbeaten run.

Wolves 1 – 0 Nottingham Forest

$

Wolves came out on top in a game of two penalties to climb out of the relegation zone and leave Nottingham Forest bottom of the Premier League.

Skipper Ruben Neves drove the hosts in front from the spot after a four-minute video assistant referee delay at the start of the second half.

After a second lengthy VAR intervention when referee Thomas Bramall initially missed Matheus Nunes pulling back Ryan Yates, Wolves keeper Jose Sa superbly turned away Brennan Johnson’s spot-kick.

The save was made more remarkable as Sa has been playing with a broken bone in his wrist since he damaged it against Fulham on 13 August.

Max Kilman earlier hit the inside of a post with a header and was unfortunate the rebound went straight to Forest keeper Dean Henderson.

It was a superb way for interim Wolves bosses Steve Davis and James Collins to start a potentially crucial week that ends with a home game against Leicester next Sunday.

However, the pain goes on for Forest boss Steve Cooper. His side are without a win since August and have picked up a single point from their past seven games.

For lifelong Wolves fan Davis, presiding over this victory will be particularly satisfying.

Chairman Jeff Shi’s search for a permanent replacement for Bruno Lage continues and Wolves’ biggest problem – a lack of goal threat – remains.

But Neves’ goal – only Wolves’ fourth in the league this season and their first in the second half of a game for 11 matches – gave them their second win in 17 matches and will lift spirits around a club seemingly in freefall.

No-one encapsulates Wolves’ slide down the Premier League more than Adama Traore.

During two seventh-placed finishes under Nuno Espirito Santo, the Spain winger was a genuine threat.

While inconsistency has always been an irritating feature of his game, at his best Traore is capable of unhinging defences with his pace alone.

But with only three league goals since 2019, his contract running out at the end of the season and a hoped-for move to Barcelona failing to materialise, Traore’s time at Molineux appears to be drifting to a mediocre end.

He at least looked capable of creating chances here, crossing for Kilman to head against a post and Rayan Ait-Nouri to nod wide at the far post.

It was Traore’s shot which struck Harry Toffolo and eventually brought Wolves their penalty after Bramall was sent to the screen by VAR Lee Mason.

Forest handed Cooper a new three-year contract after their four-goal hammering at Leicester a fortnight ago. Without it, his tenure would be extremely precarious now.

He was visibly frustrated at Wolves’ penalty, particularly as the game had moved to the other end of the pitch and the hosts were preparing to take a corner when Mason alerted Bramall to Nunes’ infringement.

Cooper could only watch in despair as Johnson wasted the opportunity to level.

A few hours before kick-off, Forest posted a tweet depicting one of their players cuddling three wolves with the caption ‘Playtime’. Evidently someone senior at the City Ground did not like it so the post was deleted.

The tweet proved to be ill-advised, given the outcome. At the moment, despite a summer outlay in excess of £100m, Forest is the ones who look like a becalmed version of what they are supposed to be.

Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has been charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling behaviour and assault.

The forward was arrested in January following allegations that emerged in images and videos posted online.

He was arrested again on Saturday for allegedly breaching his bail.

Prosecutors said the charges all related to the same female complainant. Mr Greenwood is due at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The 21-year-old, who has made one appearance for the senior England men’s team, has not played or trained with Manchester United since his arrest.

Nike also ended its sponsorship deal with him and Electronic Arts removed him from active squads on its Fifa 22 game.

Janet Potter, from Crown Prosecution Service North West, said they had authorised Greater Manchester Police to charge Mr Greenwood with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The alleged rape is said to have occurred on 22 October 2021, while the alleged assault is said to have taken place last December.

The charge of controlling and coercive behaviour relates to a period of time since November 2018.

Ms Potter said the charges were made after specialist rape prosecutors reviewed of a file of evidence from police.

She added: “The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has a right to a fair trial.

“It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice those proceedings.”

Tottenham Hotspur 2 – 0 Everton

Harry Kane marked his 400th Tottenham appearance with the opening goal as Antonio Conte’s side closed the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal with a victory over Everton.

Kane broke the Toffees’ resistance from the penalty spot after being tripped in the area by England team-mate Jordan Pickford, who had failed to hold on to Matt Doherty’s long-range effort.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg added a second late on with a curling strike that took a slight deflection off Alex Iwobi on its way in.

Spurs dominated the early stages but the two best chances of the first half fell to the visitors, who will be disappointed not to have put away both opportunities.

Demarai Gray failed to hit the target after racing on to Conor Coady’s long ball over the top of the Tottenham defence before Amadou Onana blazed over the crossbar following Hojbjerg’s poor touch.

Kane sent a rasping volley straight at Pickford early in the second half but there was nothing the Toffees keeper could do about the 29-year-old’s spot-kick – his 14th goal in 15 Premier League appearances against Everton – or Hojbjerg’s late finish.

The victory lifts Conte’s team level on points with second-placed Manchester City and just a point behind north London rivals Arsenal, while Everton drops to 14th.

The victory lifts Spurs to 23 points from 10 league matches – their highest tally at this stage of a Premier League season – while Kane has now scored in five successive top-flight games for the first time in his career.

It was a win the home side thoroughly deserved after a dominant display, although they rode their luck in the first half and could have found themselves behind at half-time.

But Frank Lampard’s team were no match for Spurs in the second half and it wasn’t long before Spurs’ pressure told, Pickford bringing down England team-mate Kane inside the six-yard box with an outstretched arm.

Kane’s penalty lifts him to within eight goals of Jimmy Greaves’ all-time Tottenham record of 266.

Hojbjerg secured the win with five minutes remaining, collecting Rodrigo Bentancur’s delivery before finding the far corner via a deflection off Iwobi.

The only sour note from the hosts’ perspective was a second-half injury to former Everton forward Richarlison, who went down clutching his left calf and was replaced by Yves Bissouma.

“We hope it is not so serious,” Conte said afterwards. “He felt a problem in his calf. He will have an MRI tomorrow.”

Before the game, manager Lampard spoke of Everton’s improved strength of character since their narrow escape from relegation last season.

The Merseyside club have undoubtedly come a long way since losing 5-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in March but the visitors were taking no risks in the early stages here, with midfield trio Iwobi, Onana and Idrissa Gueye operating deep in front of the Toffees’ back five in an effort to stifle Conte’s side.

But Everton soon grew into the contest and should have taken the lead when Coady released Gray, but the winger’s finish lacked composure.

The same applied to Onana’s wild effort not long afterwards, which came after the Everton midfielder had capitalised on a lapse in concentration from Hojbjerg inside the Tottenham half.

It was one-way traffic in the second half, however, as the Toffees failed to register a shot at Hugo Lloris’ goal.

Their overall tally of four attempts is their lowest total in a Premier League game this season.

South African TikTok and social media sensation Seemah has found herself on the wrong side of Twitter as tweeps are gunning for her blood. The Uncle Waffles lookalike is not having a good day after introducing her merch that is selling at ‘ridiculous’ prices.

Tweeps have not forgotten how the TikTok sensation Seemah once incited fatphobia and body shamed plus size women on social media. The Twitter outrage comes after Seemah has introduced her merchandise, T’shirts to be specific that are selling at R500.00.

Tweeps are not having it as they have made it crystal clear that they won’t be supporting Seemah and or buying her T’shirts. They are reminded of her horrible commentary on plus-sized people and how she talked down on them. Tweeps are convinced that Seemah is hateful towards plus-sized women while inserting that her friends, Cyan Boujee is also a plus-sized person.

Tweeps are finding it very hypocritical for Seemah to take to social media and cry abuse, when she is the same person who have have used the same platform to bully and body shame plus sized women, and other fellow influencers. Instead, tweeps are rejoicing at the backlash Seemah is receiving for her reckless commentary and inciting fatphobia.

Mzansi hip-hop star AKA whose real name is Kiernan Forbes has released an official statement in response to Cassper Nyovest’s announcement on the new brand ambassador for his liquor brand, Billiato.

On Friday night, the Siyathandana hitmaker revealed that Kiernan is the new brand ambassador of the aforementioned alcoholic brand.

It was obvious that Cassper was taunting the rapper who attacked him last weekend, with the diss song, Composure.

Returning to Twitter on Saturday, AKA slammed Nyovest’s announcement, saying it’s fake as his partnership and loyalty is with Cruz Vodka.

“AKA enjoys a longstanding, successful, and groundbreaking partnership with Cruz Vodka. The announcement is ill-considered and has and still continues to validate AKA’s rights to have his likeness and image protected by law.”

Supa Mega plans to sue Cassper over the fake deal.

AKA is exploring his legal options in this regard,” the statement reads.

The statement has garnered lots of reactions which are mixed.

“I don’t think Cas is or was being malicious It’s a joke guys. Don’t involve law in rap beef. You could have had many comebacks that could have buried him considering that u took some personnel away from him but now it just became awkward unnecessarily. It ain’t personal it’s rap,” a tweep said.

Manchester United 0 – 0 Newcastle United

$

Marcus Rashford sent an injury-time header wide as Manchester United were held by Newcastle United and slipped three points off a top-four place.

With virtually the last touch of a disappointing game, Casemiro floated a cross to the far post. Substitute Rashford climbed highest but his effort went wide of the far post.

A goal at that point would have been harsh on Newcastle, who came close to securing only their second victory at Old Trafford since 1972 but after Joelinton’s first-half header had hit the bar, the Brazilian failed to head the rebound into an empty net.

The hosts’ frustrations were summed up by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese striker, who had two second-half efforts disallowed, shook his head in irritation when he was replaced by Rashford 18 minutes from time.

He carried on chuntering to himself and shaking his head until he reached the dug-out, when he slumped down in simmering discontent.

United miss Eriksen

Sir Alex Ferguson presented David de Gea and Ronaldo with personal awards before kick-off. Before that, he greeted Erik ten Hag warmly.

The Scot did not experience defeat in this particular fixture throughout his 27-year reign as Manchester United manager.

Including Ralf Rangnick, Ten Hag is the sixth man since Ferguson to be given the task of restoring the Old Trafford outfit to something like its former self.

The early weeks have been a switchback, brilliant against Liverpool and Arsenal, terrible against Brentford and Manchester City. There has been one constant, Christian Eriksen has proved to be an outstanding signing.

Sadly for Ten Hag, the Dane missed his first Premier League game of the season through illness and without him, Manchester United lacked creativity.

It was deep into the opening period before Antony forced Nick Pope into his first meaningful save and that came at the end of a Jadon Sancho-led counter-attack.

The home side did get the ball in the net twice in as many minutes after half-time but in both instances, Ronaldo’s effort was ruled out.

The first was clearly offside. The second was more debatable.

Ronaldo and his team-mates argued Fabian Schar had rolled a free-kick back to Pope and therefore the ball was in play. Pope did not move as Ronaldo closed in, suggesting he thought the kick was still to be taken.

Referee Craig Pawson sided with the England keeper, so Ronaldo nipping in to get the ball and tap into an empty net only brought him a yellow card.

Evidently Ten Hag was not impressed with Pawson’s performances judging by the way the Dutchman marched towards the official at the final whistle.

Aston Villa 0 – 2 Chelsea

Mason Mount scored his first two club goals of the season as Chelsea survived a first-half onslaught against Aston Villa to continue Graham Potter’s unbeaten start as manager.

The England international was gifted an opener when Tyrone Mings’ header fell to him for an easy finish after six minutes.

And in front of the watching England boss Gareth Southgate, Mount added a second from a 25-yard free-kick – but again he was helped after Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez was wrong-footed.

Villa, who had been unbeaten in four games, did everything but score in the first half but found Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in inspired form as he denied Danny Ings, John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey.

Potter, who is now six games unbeaten since taking over as Chelsea boss last month, and whose side have won the last five, gambled by playing forward Raheem Sterling at right wing-back following a knee injury to Reece James, which is set to keep the defender out of the World Cup.

But after seeing Villa dominate the first half without finding the net, Potter moved Sterling up front and enjoyed a more comfortable second half, which kept Chelsea in fourth, four points behind third-placed Tottenham with a game in hand.

Villa might have been let down by two costly errors, and were booed at the final whistle, but manager Steven Gerrard would have been encouraged by his side’s first-half display, if not their finishing.

Mount and Arrizabalaga earn hard-fought win

Potter had already experimented with Sterling as a wing-back, opting for the England international on the left in his first game after joining the club last month, a draw against RB Salzburg.

But against Villa it backfired as the hosts tore down the flanks, with Sterling leaving the right side of the defence exposed.

After Mount was gifted his goal by Mings, Chelsea were left chasing the ball. Marc Cucurella struggled as Ings, Ollie Watkins and Leon Bailey caused problems right across the attack, helped by the fact that McGinn was doubling up on Villa’s left side.

The defence was indebted to Arrizabalaga, who made six first-half saves, including a brilliant stop to deny Ings’ header from point-blank range.

Five minutes before half-time, Potter admitted his tactical plan had failed by moving Ruben Loftus-Cheek into the right wing-back position instead of Sterling.

And after Cesar Azpilicueta and Kalidou Koulibaly replaced Cucurella and Kai Havertz at the break, Chelsea looked a lot more solid in the second half. They could have gone further ahead when Sterling, restored to the attack, headed wide and had another effort saved by Martinez.

Mount, who is in talks about a new Chelsea contract, killed the game off with a well-taken free-kick, but again he had a helping hand from Martinez, who had shifted to his right.

The Chelsea forward’s strike went to the goalkeeper’s left, but crossed the line close to the middle of the goal.

Mistakes prove costly for Villa

In addition to the boos at the final whistle, Gerrard was also jeered as he made his way down the tunnel.

But having asked for recent “frustration” about his team’s results to be channelled in the right way, the hosts answered with a first half that saw them also hitting the woodwork twice.

How they did not score was largely down to Arrizabalaga, who, in addition to a brilliant save from Ings, also made an extraordinary double save to stop McGinn and then Ramsey after Bailey hit the bar with am earlier header.

With Ings and Bailey in the starting line-up in place of Philippe Coutinho and Emiliano Buendia, there was plenty of joy down the flanks and the hosts were ably helped by Douglas Luiz in midfield.

But Mings’ error was inexplicable as he mistimed his header under no pressure as Ben Chilwell’s flick lopped up to him in the penalty area.

Villa might argue that Chilwell was lucky to stay on the pitch after a robust tackle on Ramsey, for which he was only booked.

In the second half, there were fewer chances as Chelsea tightened up and took control of possession. Arrizabalaga denied McGinn once more after 62 minutes, and within three minutes there was no coming back once Martinez misjudged Mount’s free-kick.

Leeds United 0 – 1 Arsenal

Premier League leaders Arsenal held on to win at Leeds in a dramatic finish after the match had been delayed by about 40 minutes because of a power outage.

There was drama in stoppage time when referee Chris Kavanagh sent off Arsenal’s Gabriel for kicking out at Leeds striker Patrick Bamford and awarded the hosts a penalty, but both decisions were overturned after Kavanagh reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor.

Earlier, he halted the match after 23 seconds of play because of a power cut at Elland Road, which meant Kavanagh lost communication with the video assistant referee (VAR) officials, while goalline technology was down too.

Once they got going again, the impressive Bukayo Saka scored the winning goal in the first half by punishing Rodrigo’s loose pass, exchanging passes with Martin Odegaard before smashing in high at the near post.

Bamford was sent on at the start of the second half and the Englishman almost made an immediate impact but his close-range strike was ruled out for a push on Gabriel.

Before the stoppage-time controversy, Leeds was awarded a penalty when William Saliba was adjudged to have handled the ball, but Bamford dragged his effort wide.

Leeds piled on the pressure and Luis Sinisterra’s goal-bound shot was blocked by Gabriel, while Brenden Aaronson’s arrowed strike from long range was pushed away by Aaron Ramsdale.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now four points clear after making a highly impressive start to the campaign which has seen them collect nine victories from 10 Premier League games.

Arsenal’s only blemish this season has been a defeat at Manchester United and the Gunners showcased their mettle by somehow holding on for victory.

It wasn’t without controversy though and they rode their luck in the second half.

Bamford, who replaced Rodrigo, saw a couple of efforts saved by Ramsdale, as well as sending his penalty wide.

In stoppage time, it looked as though he would get the opportunity of a reprieve when Kavanagh showed Gabriel a red card for kicking out at Bamford, but after consultation with VAR decided the striker had pushed the defender first.

Leeds had plenty of chances with the lively Luis Sinisterra drilling wide and seeing a low shot tipped wide by Ramsdale. From the resulting corner, Pascal Struijk’s poked effort was clawed out by the Arsenal goalkeeper.

Ultimately, the home side could not find a breakthrough, increasing the pressure on boss Jesse Marsch as his side’s winless run extended to six games.

The full-time whistle sparked wild celebrations from Arteta, with his side recording Arsenal’s best league record after 10 games since the 1904-05 season.

Playing from the right-hand side, England midfielder Saka tormented Leeds’ Struijk for much of the game and the only goal came via that channel.

Rodrigo inexplicably tried to pick out his team-mate with a cross-field pass which was pounced on by Saka, before a quick interchange allowed him to thump home his fifth goal of the season.

Gabriel Jesus chipped over from inside the six-yard box, while skipper Odegaard’s free-kick was pushed away by the sprawling Illan Meslier.

Though Leeds threatened until the end, Arsenal managed to claim their fourth clean sheet away from home in a campaign which is full of promise.

The earlier delay because of a power outage outside Elland Road meant referee Kavanagh could not communicate with VAR, which would play a crucial role when the match eventually resumed.

Kavanagh had to watch replays of both Saliba’s handball and the incident between Gabriel and Bamford at the end on the pitchside monitor before making his final decisions.

When the match was halted within the first minute, the players were left standing around and fans did not know what was happening.

An announcement was eventually made inside the stadium to say there had been a “power cut”, before Kavanagh led the two sets of players off the pitch after a wait of 12 minutes.

The players and officials returned to the pitch about 20 minutes later for a warm-up, before the 14:00 BST kick-off resumed at 14:40.

Southampton 1 – 1 West Ham United

Declan Rice’s first Premier League goal in nearly a year denied Southampton a much-needed win as West Ham fought back to draw at St Mary’s.

Romain Perraud put the Saints ahead in controversial fashion with the Hammers claiming Jarrod Bowen had been impeded by the referee in his attempt to reach the ball before the full-back’s effort deflected into the bottom corner.

West Ham failed to convert several chances before Rice combined with substitute Said Benrahma and curled a right-footed effort past Gavin Bazunu for his first league goal since 31 October 2021.

While Southampton earned their first point in five games, a draw keeps the pressure on boss Ralph Hasenhuttl with the club remaining in the bottom three.

Southampton came into the game on the back of a four-game losing run which has raised questions over Hasenhuttl’s immediate future.

But while the Saints failed to lay a glove on Manchester City in last week – losing 4-0 to the champions – they looked bright during the first half here, with Che Adams denied twice by Lukasz Fabianski.

However, there was controversy over the opening goal with the West Ham players claiming referee Peter Bankes had obstructed Bowen, stopping the Hammers attacker from getting to the ball ahead of Perraud.

The West Ham supporters also appealed for a foul throw-in against Kyle Walker-Peters, but the visitors received no joy from VAR as Southampton’s French full-back celebrated his first Premier League goal.

But with the Saints unable to build on a promising first half and ultimately failing to keep their first clean sheet of the season, a draw will do little to improve the mood around the club before Wednesday’s trip to Bournemouth.

While Southampton have struggled, West Ham were looking to extend their winning run in all competitions to five games, having securing qualification for the knockout stage of the Europa Conference League with two games to spare on Thursday.

However, they were frustrated during a first half in which they created plenty of chances but failed to work Saints keeper Bazunu.

Emerson fired wide inside the opening three minutes before Gianluca Scamacca twice sent shots just the wrong side of the post.

Scamacca, who looked sharp throughout for David Moyes’ side, also set up Lucas Paqueta, with the Brazilian’s header clipping the outside of the post as West Ham failed to score a first-half goal for the eighth time in 10 Premier League games this season.

But although Scamacca and Paqueta unable to find their range, Rice popped up with a well-taken leveller to extend West Ham’s unbeaten run and keep the Saints in the relegation zone.
