Scientific studies have shown that there is a method to falling in love.

According to a study carried out by Arthur Aron and his team, certain things can cause feelings of love and intimacy to happen faster.

This can be done by asking very specific personal questions. According to the study, mutual vulnerability is how people fall in love, “One key pattern associated with the development of a close relationship among peers is sustained, escalating, reciprocal, personal self-disclosure.”

Mandy Catron carried out the experiment with a colleague and wrote an essay about it, ‘To Fall In Love With Anyone, Do This.’ She suggested that you should stare into someone’s eyes for two to four minutes. Mandy said, “It wasn’t just that I was seeing someone, but someone seeing me.”

The question was divided into three categories, one must be open to the possibilities of falling in love. These questions should take 90 minutes.

A colleague of a young mother in the North West who abducted, raped and murdered her four-year-old daughter is serving three life terms behind bars.

Bafana Mans, 26, was sentenced to the lengthy prison term this week after advocate Xolisile Philisane urged the high court in Vryburg not to deviate from the minimum prescribed sentence, saying the offence was committed on a helpless minor.

Mans, he said, showed no remorse for his actions and did not apologise to the family of Tshimologo Lotshabeng.

Police spokesperson Col Adele Myburgh said he had been behind bars since his arrest at his home in Jan Kempdorp in the Northern Cape last year after bail was denied.

Lotshabeng’s naked body was found in bushes at Kgomotso village, near Taung, on May 16 2021.

“According to evidence presented before the court, Mans was a colleague and one of the people who accompanied Lotshabeng’s mother from a tavern to her friend’s house. He waited until the mother fell asleep, then kidnapped the child and took her to nearby bushes where he raped and killed her.”

Nkangala district municipal manager Maggie Skosana and her driver were allegedly kidnapped outside the municipal buildings by men impersonating police officers.

Police and the municipality confirmed to SowetanLIVE on Friday that Skosana and her driver Gugu Mtsweni have been missing since Thursday morning. An investigation has been launched following the incident, which happened outside the municipal offices in Middelburg, Mpumalanga.

Police have recovered the vehicle in which they were travelling, Skosana’s wheelchair and her bag.

“A case of kidnapping has been opened. It is said a white sedan came to them and the occupants were wearing police regalia. They stopped them and the two vehicles followed each other. That’s when the municipal manager and her driver were last seen,” said police spokesperson Brig Selvy Mohlala.

“During our investigation we found the vehicle near a mine with a wheelchair [belonging to Skhosana] and bag.

“We ask anyone who might have information to contact Lt Motha on 082-462-2746.”

Nkangala mayor Leah Mabuza said the municipality was shocked and pleaded with anyone who might have information to contact the police as soon as possible.

“It is our firm belief they will be found in due course. We ask everyone to allow the police to do the investigation unhindered. We comfort the Skosana and Mtsweni families in these trying times,” she said.

Controversial reality TV star Inno Morolong is ready to get to get back into the swing of things as she recovers from an almost fatal car accident.

Inno was driving from Johannesburg to Bloemfontein in August when she lost control of the car because of a pothole and was involved in an accident that saw her white BMW light up in flames.

She was hospitalised with minor injuries.

She said she’s been emotionally shaken since the incident, which led to her undergoing therapy.

For some time after the accident, Inno relied on her loved ones to assist by doing “small things” and transporting her.

“That accident shook me. I am a very strong person emotionally, but this left me in shock. To think I stared death in the face still gives me the creeps,” she said.

“I am feeling much better. I have even started doing a lot of work and I am glad to be back in the limelight. I also can’t wait for the second season of Diamonds and Dolls as announced earlier this year,”

Season 2 of the Showmax series is underway and Inno has documented her recovery journey on the show.

She thanked her family, friends and followers for their support while on her journey.

“I am one of the season 2 cast members. I am grateful to God for this recovery. It was a miracle. I thought I would never be able to drive a car again, let alone be in it. I am a living testimony that prayer and psychological help work,”

The Scots, who beat West Indies on Monday, were effectively in a knockout situation, but only mustered 132-6 in the face of some wily Zimbabwe bowling.

Zimbabwe were 42-3 after eight overs when Sean Williams was dismissed.

But Sikandar Raza arrived to club 40 from 23 balls, adding 64 with Craig Ervine, who made 58 as victory was sealed with nine balls to spare.

Zimbabwe make progress in a T20 World Cup for the first time. By finishing top of Group B, they advance to Group Two of the Super 12s where they will face India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa and the Netherlands.

For Scotland, the defeat means they fail to emulate their performance of a year ago, when they reached the Super 12s at the last World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Ireland also advance from Group B, having beaten West Indies by nine wickets earlier on Friday.

Five luxury vehicles were seized during an operation at a smallholding belonging to a 35-year-old alleged kingpin linked to a syndicate siphoning fuel from Transnet pipelines.

Hawks spokesperson Lt-Col Philani Nkwalase said a Jeep SRT 8 SUV, Mercedes-Benz Viano minibus, Toyota Land Cruiser bakkie, Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV and Jeep V8 SUV were seized.

The value of the vehicles has not yet been established.

Five cellphones, documents, illegal firearms and ammunition and an undisclosed amount of cash were also confiscated.

“The search operation followed his arrest in Pretoria on Wednesday morning, which continued until dawn on Thursday as officials processed the exhibits or assets suspected to be the proceeds of crime.”

Two of his alleged accomplices, aged 35 and 41, were nabbed on Saturday October 16 for fuel theft and tampering with the Transnet national pipeline in Vrede, Free State. They were arrested while allegedly delivering the stolen fuel in Kromdraai, Witbank.

A second tanker, which had allegedly been seen at the premises when the alleged accomplices were arrested, has been linked to a new case at the Transnet pipeline in Silverton on Thursday, Nkwalase said.

The suspects fled before they could be arrested, but the tanker was seized for investigation.

The alleged kingpin will face charges of damage to essential infrastructure and theft of fuel when he appears in the Vrede magistrate’s court on Friday.

His appearance had been scheduled for Thursday but Nkwalase said it was held over “owing to the volume of work to make the docket court-ready”.

Popular Zimdancehall songstress, Bounty Lisa has her broken silence on widespread speculation that she deserted her late partner Soul Jah Love at his critical time of need.

Bounty was on Mangungundengu podcast where she laid everything bare from how she mate the late Zimdancehall icon until their time of separation.

Speaking to Mbali, Bounty said it was love at first sight when she met Jah Love,

“We met in 2013 during that period when most Mbare-bred artistes popped. He had seen my video clip after a video shoot and sought to see me. I would say it was love at first sight,” she said.

She went on to reveal that through their union, Soul Jah Love picked some form of direction.

“It was after we met that he started looking for a stable place of residence, before me, he was of no fixed abode hence the title Chugunduru,” she added.

However, the union would come to a crashing end as Jah Love started to physically abuse Bounty, something which emanated from his abuse of drugs. Bounty said substance abuse made him push everyone, except for “yes men”, away.

“He pushed everyone away that is why he died a lonely man, he pushed those who could rebuke him from doing bad stuff away,” she said before adding that had it not been for drugs they may have still been together, “I believe if he was not abusing drugs we still would have been together. I never left, we went for two months with him throwing out my bags and asking me to leave. He was a slave of crystal meth to an extent that he would also get confused about what happened to him whenever he was high.”

Speaking on songs about her that Jah Love continued singing after their separation, Bounty queried, “why was he showing me love on songs and interviews but avoiding telling me in person? He knew where to find me but would never come to profess his love face up, not even a call.”

He may have grown up in a poor environment without privileges, but he has turned his painful upbringing and childhood suffering into a positive influence.

Actor and author Masoja Msiza does not only entertain on TV, but he also visits schools to motivate kids.

His motivational talks are influenced by his upbringing.

Masoja, who is known as the feared Nkunzi on Uzalo, aims to add positivity in the minds of young creatives.

“I don’t go around schools motivating kids just because I think they can’t think for themselves or their future, but I’m doing this to add on the positives that they dream about and want to achieve for themselves.

“What I’m trying to tell them is that they can be anything. They can be big and celebrated like me no matter what their background is. They mustn’t look down on themselves,” said Masoja.

The 57-year-old actor, who grew up in KwaThema in Joburg, said his upbringing was rough and painful.

He said he once went door-to-door, selling steel wool. But unfortunately, he was bitten by dogs.

“I have wounds of dogs bites. But every time I look at these wounds, I’m reminded of my long journey. I use them to motivate kids. And they pay attention when I speak to them,” said Masoja.

He is also a poet.

Masoja has written poem collections including Voice of Hope and Avalon.
