Nelson Chamisa’s 51 MPs drag Khupe to court. This came after Khupe’s MDC-T recently successfully recalled 21 MDC Alliance legislators and threatened more bloodbath against Chamisa’s loyalists.

Fifty-one die-hard MDC Alliance legislators have approached the High Court en masse seeking an interdict to stop their recall from Parliament by the rival camp led by Thokozani Khupe, saying they would resist all machinations aimed at dividing their party.

MDC-T deputy spokesperson Khalipani Phugeni yesterday confirmed the latest court application by MDC Alliance legislators, which he dismissed as “dubious”. The MDC Alliance had 113 legislators, of which 21 have since been recalled, another 21 voluntarily joined Khupe and 51 have approached the courts distancing themselves away from MDCT.

Addressing journalists after an MDC-T standing committee meeting in Harare yesterday afternoon, Phugeni said: “They have made a dubious court application of 51 MPs who are seeking to interdict us from recalling them.

“The affidavits appear to have been written by one person, then signed. They are certainly fraudulent and we will prove that in court. Something is just not right with those affidavits and we are going to prove our case in court.

“Those who continue to align with the MDC Alliance party and not the MDC-T will be pulled out in line with the constitution of the party. They will cease being members and will be recalled by the MDC-T.”

Phugeni added that the extraordinary congress ordered by the Supreme Court was now in doubt after police and the Health ministry banned the gathering on health grounds. MDC Alliance secretary-general Chalton Hwende confirmed that his party legislators had approached the courts.

“We have always been clear that the majority of MPs are behind MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa and they have approached the courts to distance themselves from the MDC-T, this Mwonzora party. From our knowledge, only 21 MPs have crossed the floor and even still, some have told us they have joined Khupe only to defend their income and are willing to join the Alliance. We are a big tent and we will accept them back,” Hwende said.

Khupe is battling for power in the MDC-T, with her faction trying to pull the rug from Chamisa’s faction, which has insisted that it is no longer part of the former party led by the late founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

Last Friday, she got a morale boost after Treasury deposited $7,4 million into her party account, insisting that she was the legitimate leader of the main opposition in Parliament despite the ongoing court disputes about her status.

The money was released under the Political Parties Finance Act and is meant to benefit parties which would have garnered at least 5% of votes in the previous election.

Analysts have, however, questioned the logic of giving the money to Khupe’s party after it failed to win a single contested seat in the July 31, 2018 elections. The party now wants to take over all seats won by Chamisa’s party, claiming he was adjudged by the Supreme Court as illegitimate.

Between May and June, Khupe, through party acting secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora, recalled 21 legislators who refused to dump Chamisa and gave those remaining a chance to join her ship or face the same fate.

Zimbabwe sees the deadliest day since COVID-19 outbreak declared. The ministry of health reported 40 new cases on Saturday, pushing the total number of cases to date to 982. It said 30 of the new cases were local transmissions which include 13 health care workers, 10 of them at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe declared its deadliest day in the battle against the coronavirus on Saturday after five people died – three of them at home before they were tested.

Between March 20 when the disease was first detected in Zimbabwe and June 30, just seven people had died. But in the first 11 days of July alone, 11 people have died – a major poser for the government which is contemplating tightening lockdown restrictions.

The ministry of health said three of the deaths occurred in home settings while two died in hospital. None of the five appears to have been tested for the virus before their deaths, which the positive tests confirmed during post-mortems.

Zimbabwe has tested just over 356,000 people for the virus and screened 88,000 others, but health experts say the testing is too low and does not give a true picture of the infection rate in the country.

The Chinese government on Sunday donated 30,000 Nucleic Acid Diagnostic Kits which the cash-strapped Zimbabwe government has been struggling to source in order to scale-up its testing.

Over 12.5 million people have been infected by the virus worldwide and over 560,000 had died on July 11, while 6.8 million had made recoveries.

Chamisa appoints Welshman Ncube as MDC President with immediate effect. MDC-Alliance leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has appointed his deputy Professor Welshman Ncube as acting party president with immediate effect.

In a statement issued on Monday Chamisa’s Spokesperson, Dr Nkululeko Sibanda said,” The President of the MDC Alliance Advocate Nelson Chamisa has, with immediate effect, appointed Vice President Professor Welshman Ncube to act as President.

Meet Zimbabwean professional racing driver Axcil Jefferies. Axcil Jefferies (born 14 April 1994) is a Zimbabwean Professional Racing Driver and Senior Race Instructor at Yas Marina Circuit Abu Dhabi. Jefferies started his motorsport career aged six in Zimbabwe and went on to win several national championships in Zimbabwe and South Africa before moving to Europe for 2007 and 2008, winning races in the European Karting Championship.

Jefferies contested the Formula BMW Pacific series in 2009 and 2010. He finished third overall in the 2009 season, taking pole position at Sepang and Okayama, and winning two races at Sepang and a total of 12 podiums.

He completed a limited schedule in 2010, with two wins and four podiums. In 2012, after not racing for two years, Jefferies returned to action in FIA Formula Two halfway through the season with a best of 5th in wet conditions in Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. He finished 12th in points.

In 2013 Jefferies made his debut in the American Firestone Indy Lights series with Bryan Herta Autosport at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and finished seventh. He competed again two months later at the Houston race and finished fifth. 2014 Jefferies competed in The Indy Lights Mid Ohio Honds 200 event finishing sixth on Saturday and fourth in the Sunday Race.

In 2014 Jefferies made his debut in GP2 in Bahrain, showing strong pace in race one he was unfortunately punted by Japanese driver Kimya Sato and forced to retire; with Saturdays final positions determining Sundays starting grid Jefferies had to start from the back of the grid and again put in solid performance making up several positions.

Peter Moyo explains Lobola pictures. The 32-year-old, whose affair with US-based lover Caroline Makamache is no secret, sent the social media overdrive when the two updated their statuses saying they were now an item. Peter Moyo on Sunday laughed at his lobola payment ceremony pictures circulating on social media saying the event was held early this year.

Some claimed Peter had paid for the lobola over the weekend in Bulawayo but the Utakataka Express boss laughed at the claims saying it’s indeed an old picture circulating. He however appealed to people to stop ‘demonising’ him saying the affair got the blessing of his family, especially Tongai Moyo’s mother, gogo Chihera.

“I think I have done something good this time around which is not scandalous, so people must respect me because I have paid lobola for the person I love,” he said. Asked when he paid lobola and the amount he coughed out, the former Lancashire Steel Football club forward said:

Mai Titi celebrates her 34th birthday but regrets early marriage. Mai Titi disclosed this on Sunday at her house where she was celebrating her 34th birthday along with her 15-year-old daughter Felisha’s.

Comedienne Felistas “Mai TT” Murata says she regrets getting into marriage at a tender age saying it has negatively affected her life.

She left guests in stitches saying her daughter is too beautiful that she at one time she wanted to go for DNA tests arguing that Felisha is too pretty to be her child. “I was married at the age of 18 and this affected my life because I was not mature to handle marriage,” said Mai Titi.

“As I celebrate my life along with my daughter I decided to take this opportunity to launch ‘Felisha Beauty Products’ a beauty parlour for her to express my love and good wishes for her.

Woman busted for luring men with fake pictures: 2 guys lose money. Panashe Tao yei of Harare and Albert Mukasa of Kadoma fell in love with her online identity under the name Keishandra Elizabeth Mashambadope and contributed towards her birthday party which was ever being postponed.

A Zimbabwean woman has admitted to using her beautiful cousins’ pictures to lure men on Facebook. Using two different fake identities, Elizabeth Mashambadope, allegedly dupes men into online relationships milking them dry without ever meeting them.

Mashambadope spent the better part of June 2020 telling the two through voice audios and WhatsApp messages that she was experiencing problems that included losing her mother, sister and a friend in a road traffic accident which she claimed had delayed the organised birthday party. She used two contact phone numbers in the name of Keisha Humba and the other Shantel Humba and it was the photographs of these two that attracted Taoneyi and Mukasa to give their heart and the little they afforded.

The real Mashambadope claimed to be a nurse usually based in UK but unable to travel back to England due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Taoneyi, a photographer was engaged by the Keisha character to cover the birthday party before falling in love with the Shantel character after admiring her photograph in the birthday party group.

“I was cat fished by someone who pretended to be two people who she was not and made me and the other guy fall in love with the people on the pictures she sent to us as Keisha and Shantel,” said Panashe. “For the whole month of June the woman was faking that she was planning a birthday party and I was added in a WhatsApp group of seven participants. “Shantel sent a photograph of herself to me and I admired her and this led me to charge US$20 to cover her sister Keisha’s party both video and photographs.

“I was instructed to put my main focus on Keisha and her fiancé Albert unaware that Albert was also a victim. “After sensing that I was being used by Shantel and the party was ever being postponed I decided to inbox Albert and this is how we both came to realise that we have been fooled. “One of my friends introduced me to this woman I never met but only communicated with through the phone.

“I used some money to cover her airtime and console her for losing her relatives that included her mother and sister but all these were lies. “I later discovered that Albert was also a victim and is based in Kadoma but hey takaitiswa hazvitaurike,” said Panashe. Albert, a human resources manager of a Kadoma company, told H-Metro that one of the days he was forced to wait by the road for Keisha who promised to pick him up to go see her ailing sister in Bulawayo.

“I received a message in my mobile phone from that woman before she sent another saying the first message was supposed to for her friend Grace,” said Albert. “She communicated with me over the phone that I ended up attracted to her after seeing her photograph and that is how our love started. “The love story was decorated with sorrows that saw the passing on of her mother, her sister and a friend and how she discovered her real biological father.

“In all these lies she wanted me to feel for her and I did wholeheartedly that I ended up giving her my sisters contact numbers and she had the audacity to speak to them and promised to take one of my sisters to UK. “At times she would send some audios crying saying she can’t bear the thought of losing me when we had misunderstandings.

“One of the days I took an off day after she promised to drive me to Bulawayo where she said her friend was sick and I spent the better part of the day by the road waiting.
“She later said her drums of fuel were stolen that is why she could not make it.
“whenever she communicated with me as Shantel she changed her voice but I later picked this. “It is a long sad story my brother but the truth is that I was fooled and when it came out that it was all a joke I felt so robbed.

“On the other day Shantel phoned me claiming that Keisha had been poisoned. “After Panashe approached me we shared our experiences with the woman we never met and discovered that we have been used by one woman who purported to be two women when she was one person using two contact numbers and two photographs to fool us,” said Albert.

H-Metro contacted Elizabeth, and she confirmed the story saying she has since apologised to the two and her fears were over the photographs of her cousins she used to seduce the two.

“Yes I did something bad but I asked for forgiveness and my intention was to make new friends only. You know girls wani we send pictures that are not ours just to get attention,” said Elizabeth claiming that Albert was her ex-boyfriend. “My family is not involved in this sh** that is why I begged for forgiveness from the two and posting the photographs was bad that if my family got to know about this It would be better for me to die,” she said claiming that she was in Marondera.

Warriors defender Mudimu scores a rare goal. The defender says he was happy to register his first goal for his new paymasters. “To score my first goal was an amazing feeling I just want to thank God and all my people for loving support.

Alec Mudimu scored a rare goal and iced it with an assist in their 6-0 win over Codru on Saturday. It was the Warriors vice captain’s first goal of the season in his second game for Sheriff Tiraspol.

Miss Zim Emerald International contestant heartbroken. Chigwende was selected for Miss Emerald International after she impressed at Top Model of the World pageant held in Egypt earlier this year where she made it into the top 15 as the only black African model. Chigwende was, however, disappointed for failing to be selected in top seven of Miss Emerald International where 11 countries participated.

Gweru based model Chipo Chigwende, who over the weekend participated in virtual modeling contest- Miss Emerald International, says she is heartbroken after failing to make it into the top seven.

The countries included Paraguay, Venezuela, Colombia, Spain, El Salvador, Uganda, Peru,Mexico, Brazil, Guyana and Zimbabwe. Danea Panta from Peru was crowned Queen, the First Princess – Giselle Archbold from Colombia and Second Princess – Arian Dahlia from Guyana. The 21-year-old wasn’t pleased with the outcome of the results and she also said it was a learning curve.

“Thank you so much for voting and supporting me. I couldn’t make the best in this pageant, but I pray and hope to represent Zimbabwe in more pageants to come. “It is really heartbreaking but I will have to be strong and soldier on. Forward ever backwards never,” said Chigwende.

“I take this as a lesson, l have learnt also and l will work on those areas that l realised l did not do very well. “With all the effort l gave in l never thought it was a waste after all. Well, we live, we learn, we grow and we move on.

“There’s more to come. I’m only 21 so l still can make my dream come true. It’s never too late,” she added. Chigwende said there is need for government and the corporate world to support modelling the same way they support sports. “We need more support from the government as well.

“Some countries make sure their representatives are well prepared from outfits to coaching, everything will be on point and in Zimbabwe models have to look for sponsors and its hard to get those.

“Let’s take modelling the same way we support soccer because we have the same aim at the end of the day,” she told H-Metro. Chigwende’s was selected as First princess Miss Gweru in 2018. She is also the ambassador for Edgars Zimbabwe. She is studying Bachelors of Commerce Insurance and Risk Management Honors degree at the Midlands State University.

Reuben Barwe is very much alive. The Twitter user who goes by the handle @bmusonza had posted that the ZBC Diplomatic Correspondent had breathed his last, in a tweet accompanied by Barwe’s picture.

An internet user who wrongfully posted on Twitter that veteran Zimbabwean journalist Reuben Barwe had passed on, has publicly apologised for the fake pronouncement. The user has since deleted the tweet and subsequently apologised to Barwe, ‘everyone concerned and those misled’ by the fake tweet.

“Got a story filed as breaking news on “Ruben Barwe death” and I was trying to make heads and tail about it. Turned out to be fake news. Ruben Barwe is alive. Shall I please offer my sincere public apologies to Mr Ruben Barwe, everyone concerned and those misled. Thank you,” said @bmusonza in a tweet.

With many cautioning the user against getting ‘carried away’ by most ‘BREAKING’ yet poorly evidenced ‘NEWS’ especially on social media, @bmusonza was forced to further explain on the Reuben Barwe ‘death’ story

“Is it good standard practice on social media behaviour to apologise for our mistakes or any inaccuracies in messages we post on this or other platforms that turns out to be not true? So often I do that I get pilloried for it. Personally, when I’m wrong I am not afraid of saying so,” the explanatory tweet reads.

Barwe is yet to give a comment on the matter.

Fadzayi Mahere accused of flirting with Zanu-PF more than MDC Alliance. Former MDC Vanguard Leader Shakespeare Mukoyi said MDC Alliance president Nelson Chamisa erred in appointing Fadzayi Mahere as the party’s spokesperson.

Mukoyi, who is now the Thokozani Khupe-led MDC-T interim leader, said Mahere has no history in the opposition party and also habitually hobnobs with ZANU-PF functionaries such as Acie Lumumba and Kuda Musasiwa. Mukoyi tweeted:

MDC-A yese, Ireland, America, Uk, Africa, Zimbabwe makashaya munhu ane (is it that you couldn’t find someone with an) institutional history ye (of the) party ne (and the) struggle plus competence kuti mutore (for you to appoint) [Fadzayi Mahere] who dines with known Zanu-PF people like [Kuda Musasiwa] na (and) [Acie Lumumba]?

In response, Musasiwa branded Mukoyi an idiot who is on a ZANU-PF salary alongside Khupe. This idiot who actually is on Zanu-PF Salary with Khupe et al dares mention me. Shakespeare is a coward who sold out after Hon HWENDE defeated him hard in Kuwadzana East. Crybaby. We were a better team. Deal with it.

Former MDC spokesperson Obert Gutu said Mahere, who is referred to as ‘Nyembesi’ by the ZANU-PF social media army (Varakashi), is a fake opposition activist as she is close to ruling party personalities. Gutu tweeted:

In whatever you do, please always remember to be genuine and forthright. Just don’t be as FAKE as Nyembesi. During the day, Nyembesi viciously lambasts the ‘enemy’ but during the night, she becomes cosy & comfy with the ‘enemy’. Talk of double standards! If you know, you know.

Meanwhile, Mukoyi abandoned the MDC Alliance to join Khupe last month ahead of the party’s Supreme Court-sanctioned extraordinary congress.

MDC Alliance secretary-general Chalton Hwende said there was nothing unusual about Mukoyi’s defection to the Thokozani Khupe camp saying it is his right to join any political party of his choice.

Old Mutual Zimbabwe operations continue to run as normally despite sput with Zanu PF. The insurance giant has been accused by Zimbabwean authorities of undermining the local dollar, as people could compare its share price on the London and Johannesburg stock exchanges with that on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange to create an implied exchange rate between the Zimbabwean currency and the US dollar.

Old Mutual Zimbabwe says it is still seeking clarity on what the ruling Zanu-PF party meant when it said the group had been “ejected” from the country’s financial system.

At first Zimbabwe, authorities reacted by suspending the fungibility of its shares on the ZSE and the JSE, but this didn’t stop the use of the Old Mutual implied rate, which was higher than the official exchange rate.

Zimbabwe is facing a chronic shortage of foreign currency. In another attempt to snuff out the implied rate, authorities then shut down trade on the entire ZSE.

On Friday, Zanu-PF went further and issued a confusing statement saying the insurance giant – the biggest investor on the ZSE – had been “ejected out of the country’s financial system.” The statement left many asking what exactly it meant, as there has been no comment from the ministry of finance.

“We are working with all relevant stakeholders to seek clarity on the matter,” said Old Mutual in a statement released Sunday evening. The group said it has a “responsible business policy and will always continue to comply with all regulations and legislation within the countries where it operates”.

It said all its services and operations are continuing to “run as normal” and are “financially stable and sound”. “We will ensure to continue to update you of any significant developments on our official company platforms,” it states.

100kms of Harare-Beitbridge highway rehab to be completed by next month. Last year, the Government assigned five contractors to undertake roadworks on the Harare-Beitbridge Highway.

Government is happy with the progress made by companies working on the expansion of the Harare-Beitbridge Highway, with the first 100 kilometres they are working on expected to be complete by next month.

Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Joel Biggie Matiza said: “As a ministry, we are happy with the work done so far. Contractors are on target. Treasury is supportive and funds are coming and the only thing left is for contractors to deliver.

“Our target is that by December this year, at least 200km will be complete. The first 100 kilometres will be completed by end of August.”

Minister Matiza said initially, work had been slowed down by the Covid-19 lockdown, but was now in full swing. Contracted companies are Tensor Systems, Marimba Construction, Fossil Contractors, Exodus Company and Bitumen World.

All these companies have each been allocated 20-kilometre stretches, with room for the stretched to be increased to 100km depending on their performance.
The highway is key in attaining Vision 2030, which seeks to transform the country into an upper middle income economy.

The first section of the road covers Mashonaland East Province on which Tensor Systems is undertaking the rehabilitation works, while Masimba Construction is responsible for road works on the section covering the Midlands Province. Two contractors have been assigned to work on the Masvingo Province section, with Fossil Contractors responsible for the Masvingo-Chatsworth stretch, while Exodus and Company is taking care of the Masvingo-Maringire areas.

Bitumen World is responsible for Matabeleland South Province (the Bubi area). Road works are also in progress on the Harare-Chirundu Highway, which completes the journey from Beitbridge Border Post to Chirundu Border Post.

The Beitbridge-Harare Highway and the Harare-Chirundu Highway project consists of phased dualisation, rehabilitation and widening of the existing roads from the current seven metres width to Southern Africa Transport and Communications Commission (SATTC) standard of 12,5 metres width.

Climbing lanes will be added where necessary. The road sections are Beitbridge-Harare with 570km of road works and eight toll plazas. The Harare-Chirundu section consists of 342km road works and six toll plaza, and the Harare ring road covering 59km with three toll plazas.

Another Cell phone dealer killed in cold blood. Lovemore Kachoro (43) of number 145 Muzarabani residential area was struck on the head by unknown assailants and died on the spot.

Muzarabani cell phone dealer was allegedly killed in cold blood on his way from church on Sunday evening. Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Fedelity Dhewu confirmed the case.

“I can confirm a murder case in Muzarabani where Kachoro’s body was found on the side of a footpath by Member Masiyambiri (66) of Gunduza village and investigations are ongoing,” Dhewu said.

Police are appealing for anyone with information leading to the murder case to inform them.

Kelly Khumalo‘s reality show Life with Kelly Khumalo finally has a debut date and fans will finally get to see all the drama unfold on the show.

The award-winning songstress in an interview with ZAlebs last month revealed that she was working on the reality show but it was halted due to the coronavirus lockdown regulations but as regulations eased she was able to resume shooting.

I cannot give so much details, but all I can say is that thank God that we are on level 3 and we are allowed to move around and be able to continue shooting,” said Kelly at the time.

Now, more details surrounding the show have been revealed, the 13-episode show will make its debut on streaming service Showmax on August 6. The reality show is produced by the king of reality show’s Legend Manqele, founder of BarLeader TV, who is behind shows such as Kwa Ma’Mkhize, Living the Dream with Somizi and Being Bonang.

Legend told the publication that the show ” is kind of your popular Uyajola 9/9 reality show.

“Confrontations and family conflicts are going to be happening for the very first time in front of the audience. This is part of her healing process and spiritual journey.”
