As her drama with Vusi Ngubane continues, Zodwa Wabantu has vehemently denied the suggestion that young men only date her so they can benefit from her money and fame.

The common trait Mzansi has seen with Zodwa’s Ben 10s is that she spends large amounts of money on them, and they become famous by association.

In a recent interview on Podcast and Chill, Mac G asked if she feels like they date her only to use her … but it’s clear that she doesn’t think so.

“I wouldn’t say they use me because I love them. I allow them to wear them sneakers, the T-shirts and the jeans from Dubai or wherever I travel to. The watches, the latest phones from Dubai and whatever.

Zodwa said her critics should leave her alone, or go to the police if they have a problem with her.

“They must leave me alone. They say that I am a paedophile or predator, but if they feel that way, they must go open a case. I don’t stress about my life or what people say about me.”

Responding to the criticism on Instagram, Zodwa wrote: “They (young men) go for me and if I like them I say yes.”

President Mnangagwa guns for churches. Harare Archbishop Robert Christopher Ndlovu was singled out by the government as “evil” and hell-bent on causing tribal divisions between Ndebeles and Shonas.

Stung by a stern rebuke over alleged mounting human rights abuses, President Emmerson Mnangagwa‘s government yesterday launched an astonishing attack on leaders of the Catholic Church, describing them as evil.

Ndlovu is the most senior leader of the Catholic Church in Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference on Friday published a hard-hitting pastoral letter bemoaning the deteriorating situation in the country and called for an end to human rights violations by security forces.

Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa yesterday accused the bishops of fighting Mnangagwa’s administration in a highly charged press statement.

Mutsvangwa equated Ndlovu to a Rwandan Catholic Church leader during the genocide in that country archbishop Arthanase Seromba, “who was the chief spiritual ideologist and violent practitioner of the 1994 Hutu-Tutsi genocide of Rwanda.”

“These crimes against humanity took place during the Rwandan civil war that saw more than 800 000 Tutsi minority, pygmy BaTwa tribe, and moderate Hutus massacred on such a large scale,” Mutsvangwa ranted.

In a thinly veil threat against Ndlovu, the minister charged: “The infamous Rwandese Catholic archbishop would eventually be tried and sentenced to life imprisonment by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.”

She claimed the church leader was pursuing a regime change agenda. “His transgressions acquire geopolitical dimensions as the chief priest of the agenda of regime change that is the hallmark of the post-imperial major western powers for the last two decades,” Mutsvangwa charged.

The bishops’ reference to Gukurahundi appeared to have angered the government with the minister lashing out that Ndlovu wanted to divide the country on tribal lines.

In their letter, the bishops said “the suppression of people’s anger can only serve to deepen the crisis and take the nation into deeper crisis. “This comes on the backdrop of unresolved past hurts like Gukurahundi, which continue to spawn even more angry new generations.”

Mutsvangwa said the assertion was tribal. “Fellow Zimbabweans, Gukurahundi is indeed a dark spot in the tortuous task of nation-building by Zimbabwe.

“The two parties of that needless chapter of history need to be hailed for seeking peace and unity as they avoided the abyss that could have been a full-blown civil war.

“Happily we ended up with the 1987 Unity accord.” Ironically, Mnangagwa was State Security minister during the Gukurahundi massacres in Matabeleland and the midlands.

Without proffering any evidence, Mutsvangwa accused Ndlovu of being part of the people that organised the July 31 protests against corruption. Security forces were used to thwart the protests.

Investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono and Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume, who used social media platforms to encourage citizens to join the protests were arrested for allegedly plotting to topple Mnangagwa.

Several opposition and civic society leaders, including the mDC alliance vice-chairperson Job Sikhala, who are accused of organising the protests, have gone into hiding after police indicated that they wanted to arrest them.

The clampdown against critics has alarmed various international bodies such as the United Nations and African Union, which have called on Zimbabwe to respect the rule of law.

Mutsvangwa claimed the bishops’ pastoral letter was an admission that the July 31 protests had failed. “Archbishop Christopher Ndlovu, you ardently call that the march has not stopped,” she said. “This is a pathetic admission of the failure of the 31 July 2020 uprising.

“By calling people to march in the midst of the pandemic, the bishop relishes the prospect of mass deaths. “To him, maybe that speeds up the ascent of the populace of Zimbabwe to their biblical judgement of heaven or hell.

“No No No! His excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa will have none of that.

“He will strive to dutifully protect the wellbeing and health of the people of Zimbabwe.” Mnangagwa has dismissed South African government ministers, the aU, UN and other observers that have raised concern over the Zimbabwean situation, saying they were misinformed about the situation on the ground.

High court orders Hopewell Chin’ono and Ngarivhume to get protection from abuse. The High Court has ordered the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) to stop the persecution and abuse of investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono and opposition leader Jacob Ngarivhume.

ZPCS was told to ensure Chin’ono and Ngarivhume, who were arrested last month over the July 31 protests enjoy their basic rights while in detention at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.

Through their lawyers Beatrice Mtetwa, Gift Mtisi, Douglas Coltart, Roseyln hanzi and Moses Nkomo of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, the duo had filed an urgent chamber application seeking an order compelling ZPCS to stop subjecting them to inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment.

The ruling came amid charges that prosecutors were trying to block Chin’ono from giving evidence about the alleged abuse he was being subjected to while in prison.

Prosecutors blocked Chin’ono from testifying in a public court saying his testimony would jeopardise prison officers’ security.

But the defence argued that Chin’ono’s testimony would help the prison officers in complying with Covid-19 protocols as they were taking care of different prisoners, who at times might have contracted the coronavirus inside correctional facilities.

The state filed different applications that included one demanding the removal of Mtetwa as the lead counsel in a bid to stop her from representing Chin’ono.

The developments at the High Court are being seen as countermeasures to stop Chin’ono from testifying at the lower court since the issues of abuse have been dealt with by the higher court.

On Friday Mtetwa complained to Harare magistrate Ngoni Nduna that her client was taken to the High Court by prison services without communicating to his lawyers in a move meant to delay the matter in which Chin’ono was expected to testify.

Despite Chin’ono’s plea to have him transported to the Harare magistrates court, the prison officers refused him the chance to phone his lawyers and advise them that he was at the High Court.

In their application, which was argued before high Court Judge Justice Jester Charewa, Chin’ono and Ngarivhume said they were unlawfully deprived of several of their fundamental rights, including the use of personal protective equipment despite the rise in coronavirus infections.

Chin’ono and Ngarivhume also asked to be allowed to receive food from private sources or to provide for themselves.

Chin’ono and Ngarivhume told the court that they have a right to conditions of detention that were consistent with human dignity as enshrined in the constitution.

The duo said by denying them the right to food, personal protective equipment and warm clothing, ZPCS was deliberately placing their lives in danger.

Justice Charewa ordered ZPCS to allow Chin’ono and Ngarivhume access to their legal practitioners and to ensure that the privacy of their communication is respected and also to access medical practitioners of their choice in line with reasonable administrative measures.

The ZPCS has to allow the two “access to food in line with reasonable administrative measures, access to social visits, in line with reasonable administrative measures.”

Zimbabwean man arrested for carjacking in Botswana. Thabani Moyo recently appeared before Francistown Chief Magistrate Faith Dlamini-Ng’andu facing carjacking charges together with three Batswana, Onkemetse Babakisi, Jabulani Kesiile and Kenanao Tshabatau.

A Zimbabwean national has been arrested in Botswana on carjacking and robbery charges after he allegedly ganged up with locals to steal from a villager.

The four are charged with robbing Elias Fani of a BMW 1 series car worth P48 000 at Borolong village on June 17.

They were remanded in custody to September 1. The court was told that the total amount of goods stolen by the accused is P56 275 inclusive of the value of mobile phones of different brands and Fani’s money.

Prosecutor Mpho Kebodiretswe told the court that investigations were still ongoing and made an application for postponement of the trial.

Disaster as 4 family members die after drinking alcohol. Four members of a Binga family have died while three have been hospitalised after they allegedly drank alcohol bought from an illegal alcohol dealer in South Africa.

The seven, all-male, are from Chisawu under Chief Sinamagonde and were resident in Doornfontein, Johannesburg. They had reportedly bought the “deadly” alcohol from a man who is believed to be a fellow Zimbabwean.

In the wake of the hospitalisation and death of some of his customers, he is said to have since disappeared. After buying the alcohol from the man in Booysens last Wednesday, the family members reportedly gathered to drink it, as they had become used to sharing booze during the lockdown in South Africa. The four were identified as Sumukai Ngwenya, Khumbulani Tshuma, Takoniwa Tshuma and Jealous Tshuma.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa re-instituted an alcohol ban in South Africa in July, as part of lockdown measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.

In an interview with Sunday News, Ms Takesure Ndlovu, a relative to the four deceased, said the official cause of death had been listed as alcohol poisoning. She said the four fell ill after gathering with other family members as they had been accustomed to doing.

“It is being said that seven people passed away but that’s not the case. There were many people who drank alcohol but seven got sick. Out of the seven, three managed to survive. So four passed away and no one else has succumbed to what they drank.

These are all people that are members from one family that are related in different ways. When they found alcohol, they gathered each other as family and started drinking because as a family you share everything as one people in a foreign place. That’s how they died as members of one family,” she said.

When she spoke to Sunday News on Friday, Ms Ndlovu said they were still in the dark about what the substance that was in the alcohol or the name of the brand the seven had imbibed.

“They drank alcohol but we don’t know what was in the alcohol. As it is, we are just fighting to get enough money to have the bodies released and as we speak, we are at a meeting and we have managed to get enough money to get their bodies back home. The person who sold the alcohol to them can’t be found. His phone goes straight to voicemail. We are looking for him because he is also a Zimbabwean just like us.

Fired Fortune Chasi throws Jonathan Moyo under the bus. Former Minister of Energy Advocate Fortune Chasi has refuted reports by Professor Jonathan Moyo that he was removed from being the Minister of Energy after exposing the US$1. 2billion SOTIC deal involving President Emmerson Mnangagwa, General Sibusiso Moyo and Kuda Tagwirei.

Moyo had said, “In May 2019 before Chasi was appointed Energy Minister, SOTIC INTERNATIONAL “signed” a 65 page Deal with NOIC for SOTIC to advance a “loan” of USD 1,2 billion to guarantee that there’s always 135 million cubic litres of fuel in the pipeline at Msasa to meet Zim’s fuel needs.

Under the deal, the USD 1,2 billion “loan” would be paid back with interest over a 10 year period in monthly instalments of USD 12 million & NOIC assets were mortgaged to secure the “loan”. In effect, by the deal, SOTIC took over NOIC, its assets & ran all its operations!

“When Chasi became Energy Minister, the USD 1,2 billion advance payment had been paid, all NOIC assets had been mortgaged as collateral for the advance payment, SOTIC was running NOIC & demanding only forex for the fuel; thus making it unaffordable to the majority of locals! Without having been briefed on the SOTIC Agreement & thus unaware of its architects & its beneficiaries, @fortunechasi got the deal investigated.

Chasi’s investigation found that the deal was comprehensively & shockingly detrimental to the national interest on every score! Either bravely or naively, after his investigation, @fortunechasi sought an alternative to the SOTIC deal & negotiated it with GLENCORE. But no alternative was possible to implement; without costing SOTIC its USD 12 million a month or refunding the USD 1,2 billion advance!”

However, on Sunday Chasi issued the following statement: I have seen a set of tweets Jonathan Moyo suggesting that I caused an investigation into what he calls the SOTIC deal. I have no knowledge of this deal nor did I cause the alleged investigation. I am not sure what the source of the investigation is nor the motive.

In my entire tenure at the Ministry, I never caused any investigation or enquiry into anything at NOIC. I had no issues at that level.

I must make it very very clear that I don’t harbour any bitterness regarding my current position. I accept the decision to relieve me of my position as that is the President’s prerogative. I remain committed to serving in any capacity whatsoever.

Meanwhile, I shall revert to being a backbencher and continue to work in the constituency and party.

Thokozani Khupe set to fire 5 more Chamisa councillors. The Thokozani Khupe-led MDC-T has recommended the expulsion of five Bulawayo MDC Alliance (MDC-A) councillors for insubordination.

The five councillors are former Deputy Mayor, Tinashe Kambarami (Ward Three) who is already barred from office pending the outcome of a Supreme Court appeal on his legitimacy to be a councillor, Concillia Mlalazi (Ward 18), Alderman Earnest Rafamoyo (Ward 20), Councillor Tinevimbo Maphosa (Ward 21) and Ald Norman Hlabani (Ward 26).

MDC-T Bulawayo provincial secretary Nomvula Mguni wrote letters to Khupe and party’s acting secretary-general, Douglas Mwonzora requesting the recalling of the five. She wrote: The Bulawayo Province has decided to recall the councillors guided by the party’s constitution which state that every member shall have the duty to accept and conform to the constitution, policies, principles, rules and regulations of the party.

And also to conduct oneself in a manner which is not prejudicial to the interests of the party and in particular to adhere to the code of conduct of the party, to observe discipline, not engage in any form of violence, to behave honestly and carry out loyal decisions of the party.

In March, the Supreme Court ruled that when MDC Alliance leader Nelson became MDC-T president in 2018, he did so in violation of the party’s constitution, therefore, Khupe must assume the presidency albeit in an acting capacity pending an extraordinary congress.

Even though Chamisa and Khupe contested the 2018 elections as leaders of separate political formations, MDC-A and MDC-T respectively, Khupe has taken over Chamisa’s MPs and Councillors even though she lost heavily in the election.

Kevin De Bruyne crowned EPL Player of the Season 2019-20. Manchester City midfielder Kevin Debruyne has been crowned the English Premier League (EPL) player of the 2019-20 season.

The former Chelsea player beats Liverpool trio Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold Southampton striker Danny Ings, Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope and Leicester City’s Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy to the annual award.

The Belgian international was the only Man City player to be nominated for the prize after they relinquished their Premier League title to Liverpool following two seasons as EPL champions.
Although City’s domestic campaign fell short of their previous lofty standards, De Bruyne enjoyed his most productive season since arriving in Manchester in 2015.

Exiled former Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Professor Jonathan Moyo has alleged that the ousted former Minister of Energy, Advocate Fortune Chasi was dismissed for ordering an investigation into a deal that allegedly prejudiced the state of US$1.2 billion.

#WhyChasiWasFired: Below & in the next hours, days, maybe even weeks & months, I’ll share with you the true story of why Mnangagwa yesterday criminally fired @fortunechasi as Minister of Energy & Power Development. The criminality involves the theft of at least USD 1,2 billion!

In the statement that announced @fortunechasi‘s dismissal yesterday, Chief Secretary to the President & Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, said Chasi’s “conduct of Government business had become INCOMPATIBLE with the President’s EXPECTATIONS”. It’s very important to unpack this!

Chasi’s conduct of Government business was INCOMPATIBLE with Mnangagwa’s EXPECTATIONS in one respect in two cases, which cost him his cabinet post: Chasi did not want ministerial decisions made for him, he wanted to make or recommend decisions & take responsibility for them!

Whereas Chasi, as an experienced lawyer & ethical public servant, believed that he must make, recommend & take responsibility for his ministerial decisions, Mnangagwa’s EXPECTATIONS are that cabinet ministers must implement presidential decisions & seek guidance if in doubt!

It’s trite that Sydney Gata was appointed to #Zesa by Mnangagwa and thus imposed on Chasi. Gata and Mnangagwa are notorious polygamists who are married to Mayahle sisters, vivacious Chipinge beauties, from Mutema Communal Lands: Gata to Angeline and Mnangagwa to Moline!

In May 2019, Mnangagwa ordered then tourism minister Mupfumira to appoint to the EMA board his customary wife Moline Mayahle, sister to Gata’s wife Angeline Mayahle, with whom they have several children. So, Mnangagwa did not EXPECT Chasi to cause Gata’s removal from Zesa!

While Gata was imposed by Mnangagwa to be Zesa’s Executive Chairman & while the imposition wounded him as a minister, Chasi sought to exercise oversight at #Zesa & reign in Gata on corporate governance issues to combat corruption. But his bigger & fatal problem was at #NOIC!

In May 2019 before Chasi was appointed Energy Minister, SOTIC INTERNATIONAL “signed” a 65 page Deal with NOIC for SOTIC to advance a “loan” of USD 1,2 billion to guarantee that there’s always 135 million cubic litres of fuel in the pipeline at Msasa to meet Zim’s fuel needs!

Under the deal, the USD 1,2 billion “loan” would be paid back with interest over a 10 year period in monthly instalments of USD 12 million & NOIC assets were mortgaged to secure the “loan”. In effect, by the deal, SOTIC took over NOIC, its assets & ran all its operations!

When Chasi became Energy Minister, the USD 1,2 billion advance payment had been paid, all NOIC assets had been mortgaged as collateral for the advance payment, SOTIC was running NOIC & demanding only forex for the fuel; thus making it unaffordable to the majority of locals!

Without having been briefed on the SOTIC Agreement & thus unaware of its architects & its beneficiaries, @fortunechasi got the deal investigated. Chasi’s investigation found that the deal was comprehensively & shockingly detrimental to the national interest on every score!

Either bravely or naively, after his investigation, @fortunechasi sought an alternative to the SOTIC deal & negotiated it with GLENCORE. But no alternative was possible to implement; without costing SOTIC its USD 12 million a month or refunding the USD 1,2 billion advance!

Criminally, the SOTIC USD 1,2 billion was structured by @MinisterSBMoyo, who got USD 12 million for “structuring it”; and it was sent to #NOIC after it had already been approved by @edmnangagwa, @FinanceZim & @ReserveBankZIM; with USD 1,2 billion paid to PRIVATE ACCOUNTS!

So, @fortunechasi was fired not because of #Zesa affairs but because his conduct in investigating & seeking to cancel the USD 1,2 billion SOTIC deal at NOIC is INCOMPATIBLE with Mnangagwa’s EXPECTATIONS as a beneficiary of the SOTIC deal along with SB Moyo & Kuda Tagwirei!

SUMMARY: In May 2019 Mnangagwa & SB Moyo stole USD1,2 billion disguised as a State loan from SOTIC INTERNATIONAL, fronted by Kuda Tagwirei. The theft was structured by SB, using NOIC assets as mortgage. Chasi found out, tried to reverse it & got fired yesterday. Details:

President Donald Trump’s brother Robert has died. Robert had been hospitalised been admitted to New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan for an undisclosed ailment.

United States President Donald Trump announced Saturday that his younger brother, Robert Trump, 71, died Saturday at a New York hospital.

A source privy to the information told CNN that Robert has been sick for several months. Donald Trump said: we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.

During a White House briefing on Friday, Trump declined to provide reporters with details on his brother’s illness but only said his brother was having a tough time.

CNN previously reported that Robert was previously hospitalized in June with an undisclosed serious condition. Donald Trump is expected to attend his brother’s funeral.
