56-year-old caretaker r@pes student near school toilet on opening day. A 56-year-old janitor at Coghlan Primary School in Bulawayo has been arrested for allegedly rap_ing a pupil on opening day. Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the case.

He identified the suspect as Silas Sibanda (56). “I can confirm that he was arrested on Monday and is facing r@pe charges. He will appear in court soon after the police have completed their investigations,” Ncube said.

Sources said Sibanda first met the complainant (name withheld for ethical reasons) in the city on Monday and tried to lure her by calling her niece, but she ran away.

“Sibanda went to school and found the girl and started chasing her until he caught up with her near the toilets and r@ped her,’’ said the source.

Two weeks ago, Women’s Affairs minister Sithembiso Nyoni told Parliament that the government was in the process of formulating laws that will provide for 30-year mandatory jail sentences for r@pe offences in response to a sharp increase in s.e.xual violations.

“Two Bills (S.e.xual Harassment Bill and the Gender Equality Bill) are expected to criminalise the offence of s.e.xual harassment and provide frameworks for gender equality,” she said in a statement.

She indicated that statistics provided by police showed that there were 1 222 cases of rap_e in the third quarter of 2020 and 1 274 in the last quarter countrywide.

Rhythm City actors receive huge amounts of bonuses

13 years ago, Mzansi saw the very first episode of Rhythm City which gave many other soapies a run for their money. The storylines, the acting and the amazing cast shaped Rhythm City to being one of the top soapies in the country. As they say, numbers don’t lie.

Despite being on the top 10 list of the most watched soapies in television, at the time of announcing, it still got chopped. Etv has decided to show a very thrilling display of gratitude to their cast members by sending them big fat cheques as a farewell gift.

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela spilled the tea on his Entertainment Alert online news show. “In an unprecedented move in South African television industry, we have it on good authority, that eMedia investments, a company that owns the Etv channel will be remunerating the cast and crew of the show with some farewell bonuses,” narrated Sine The Voice Artist.

Rhythm City

Etv confirmed that there will be money given as farewell gift to the people working on the show…The cash is not specifically a severance package but it has been worked out within the ambit of labour law.”

When the show got canned in November last year, the cast members were not formally informed, which is a rather painful punch to the gut. The show was doing fairly well and were raking in the numbers but according to the channel, decommissioning the soapie is purely a business decision and part of a greater business strategy.

Managing Director at e.tv, Marlon Davids said in a statement: “E.tv continues to look forward to fulfilling its mandate of producing exceptional and relevant local content, and the production has successfully achieved its part of the obligation throughout the past 13 years. Rhythm City has secured its place in e.tv’s history books, and a legacy mark has been made. We want to extend our gratitude to the entire production staff, crew, and cast for their incomparable craft.”

Before making this decision, five of it’s biggest actors left the show which might have caused the steady decrease in numbers. Simphiwe Mtshali who played the character of Bash. He left in 2019 after serving on the show for 10 years.

Jamie Bartlett played the mighty David Genaro and left in February 2020 after 13 years on the soapie. Jamie said he had other projects lined up. Samkelo Ndlovu played the feisty Lerato who left on good terms.

Amo Chidi played musician Rene and she resigned a week after Samkelo announced her resignation and unlike her co-stars, she gave no reasons for her departure which prompted a lot of speculation.

H0RNY tokoloshe torments woman: I always wake up with moisture on my privates

H0RNY tokoloshe torments woman: I always wake up with moisture on my privates. NOT EVEN GOING TO THWASA COULD SCARE AWAY HER HATED TOKOLOSHE LOVER! It’s BEEN 28 years of waking up with evil hands on her throat, choking her at night. And finding the wet evidence of unwanted s.e.x on her thighs in the morning.

Rosinah Monkge (51) from Soshanguve, Tshwane, told Daily Sun she hasn’t had a proper night’s sleep soon after she moved into her house in Soshanguve, Tshwane, in 1993.

“It started happening after about six months,” said Rosinah. “When I went to bed something would come and choke me. I’d feel like I’m losing my breath and pass out.”

She said in later years she’d wake up wet. “I always wake up with moisture on my private parts, meaning there was something sleeping with me at night,” she said. She consulted izangoma who told her to go and thwasa, but that made it worse.

“I went to thwasa in 2016, and my gobela said my torture would end, but it didn’t,” she said. “It got worse. It was as if I was going out of my way to find bad luck.”

Rosinah said she even envies people who sleep peacefully at night. “My life is a mess. Every night this thing has to come to my bed first and when it’s done with me, I try to sleep,” she said.

“But I don’t sleep properly because I’m scared it will come back.” She said she can’t keep a man. “Men come into my life and soon go away as if something is scaring them away,” she said. “I’ve been told that this thing has made my body smell badly and has caused bad luck.”

She said she’s seen people being helped through the pages of the People’s Paper. “I’m hoping I can be helped, as well,” she said. Rosinah’s friend, Anna Ngobeni (53), said Rosinah has been suffering for years.

“This thing is destroying her life,” said Anna. “How can a woman stay without a man yet something is busy trying to be her husband but it doesn’t even come with groceries?

“And it wants to choke and kill her. She really needs help.” Sangoma Sibongile Maluleka said Rosinah has probably been cursed. “She needs to get a sangoma who will do rituals.”

She was at least 99 years old. Mama Sarah, as she was affectionately called, died around 4 AM local time while being treated at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital in Kisumu, Kenya’s third-largest city in the country’s west. In a tweet this Monday afternoon, Obama said:

My family and I are mourning the loss of our beloved grandmother, Sarah Ogwel Onyango Obama, affectionately known to many as “Mama Sarah” but known to us as “Dani” or Granny. We will miss her dearly, but we’ll celebrate with gratitude her long and remarkable life.

Report: COVID-19 Lockdowns worsen hunger in Zims Urban Areas

Report: COVID-19 Lockdowns worsen hunger in Zims Urban Areas. This is part of a report by the World Food Programme Titled “Hunger in urban Zimbabwe peaks as the ripple effect of COVID-19 is felt across the nation”.

Hunger in Zimbabwe’s urban areas has increased over the past year with 2.4 million people now struggling to meet their basic food needs, according to the Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee (ZimVAC) report coordinated by the Food and Nutrition Council.

The lockdowns imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19 have dealt a severe blow to poor urban communities, many of whom were daily wage earners living hand to mouth.

While unable to find work in cities, the ban on travel has meant that seasonal employment in rural areas is no longer an option.

With work opportunities disappearing, the recent report states that 42% of urban households will not be able to meet their cereal requirements this year compared to approximately 30% for the same period in 2019.

The World Food Programme (WFP) Representative and Country Director Francesca Erdelmann said:

Reduced access to nutritious food has resulted in negative impacts for many. Families will find it difficult to put food on the table, most of them have been stuck at home and were not able to go to work, the fortunate ones will skip meals while those without will have to go to bed with empty stomachs.

For the most vulnerable people, hunger will have a lasting effect on their lives. The deteriorating hunger situation, caused by COVID19 threatens to be their biggest challenge.

There has been a sharp decline in the standard of living across poor urban communities in Zimbabwe with 83% of urban households now below the cost of the minimum expected food items such as mealie meal, salt and cooking oil compared to 76.8% in 2019.

One of the challenges faced by the urban households were sharp price increases of basic commodities while the purchasing power of the Zimbabwe dollar has been eroded by inflation and the negative economic effects of COVID-19.

Warriors coach Loga slams door on Devine Lunga: I blue ticked them as they did to me

Warriors coach Loga slams the door on Devine Lunga: I blue ticked them as they did to me. Addressing a Press conference yesterday ahead of Zimbabwe’s final Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Zambia at the National Sports Stadium tonight, the Croat said he has shut the door on players who have in the past refused to turn up for national duty.

Devine Lunga’s future with the senior national football team is in doubt with reports suggesting that he turned down a national team call up, which riled Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic.

He didn’t mention any names, but sources confided to NewsDay that Lunga, who had become a regular and an integral part of the current Warriors team, was one of the black-
listed players.

The left-back did not turn up for last week’s penultimate Afcon match against Botswana after telling the Warriors technical team that he was injured.

“What I am looking for in a player is character, commitment and then talent. If a player thinks that he can pick and choose games that he wants to play, no, he will not. We have players like Knowledge Musona and Victor Kamhuka, who travelled thousands of miles to come for national duty, but some players in South Africa refused to come because they don’t have the country at heart. Some players who are in Europe ignored our calls when we needed them, but now that we have qualified, they are calling me. I have blocked them.”

“I don’t do like other coaches who just look at how good a player is. For me, I consider a player’s character first, the personality, that is, if you love your country and then the rest. If you don’t love your country why should I select you?”

Investigations by NewsDay Sport revealed that Lunga on March 19 wrote to the Warriors technical team excusing himself from the two matches against Botswana and Zambia, claiming that he was injured and needed at least two weeks to recover. But just a day later, he played a full match for his South African league side Golden Arrows against Cape Town City.

“The coach was really angered by it and he vowed that Devine will never play for the Warriors as long as he is the coach,” a source said. Logarusic was forced to call-up Onismor Bhasera as a last-minute replacement with the veteran defender only joining up with the team in South Africa on their way to Botswana.

Bhasera, who paid for his trip, went on to play the full match which Zimbabwe won to clinch their ticket to the Afcon finals.

“That is the commitment that I am looking for,” Logarusic said. “Bhasera had a problem with a ticket that we had bought for him and he said don’t worry let me buy another ticket for myself.”

The source added that Macauley Bourne, who has also previously turned down the opportunity to play for the national team, has also been banished.

Meanwhile, Logarusic said he will make wholesale changes to the squad that will face Zambia tonight. The match kicks off at 9pm.

With his team already qualified, Loga said he doesn’t want to risk his players accumulating yellow cards that will see them miss the opening match of the Afcon tournament.

Players who are a yellow card away from suspension include Musona, who is also carrying an injury, Teenage Hadebe, Alec Mudimu, Terrence Dzvukamanja, Thabani Kamusoko and Khama Billiat who is not in the squad anyway because of an injury.

Captain Knowledge Musona happy at KAS Eupen

Captain Knowledge Musona happy at KAS Eupen. The 30-year-old is on loan from ASC Anderlecht until the end of the season. However, the striker is hoping that the club extends his stay or sign him permanently. Warriors captain Knowledge Musona is hoping that he stays longer at the Belgian side, KAS Eupen, where he is enjoying his career.

“They have been very respectful and that is what I like most about the team because they don’t take me for granted. They give me the respect and the value that I deserve because of my contribution to the team and also for my country,” Musona told NewsDay.

He added: “We haven’t discussed about my future. We will talk about that at the end of the season.”

He said Eupen’s decision to release him for national duty when most European clubs were blocking their players from travelling during this month’s international break made him to love the club even more.

“There was never a problem with my club. I was one of the first players to be released for national duty. As soon as they received a letter from Zifa, they said I can travel. They accepted the request immediately without saying anything about COVID-19. They know I’m the captain of my country, so they respect me. They respect the decisions I make and they respect when someone has been called for national duty. For me, it was very easy,” Musona added.

The striker was one of the only four Europe-based players that travelled for Zimbabwe’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier matches against Botswana and Zambia. The others were the Turkey-based duo of Teenage Hadebe and Alec Mudimu and Romario Matova who plays in Croatia.

Warriors poster boy Tino Kadewere, who is based in France, together with Marshall Munetsi did not come. Other regulars like Marvelous Nakamba and Tendayi Darikwa, who are both based in England, were also barred from travelling.

However, the squad was still good enough to beat Botswana last week to qualify for next year’s Afcon finals in Cameroon. They face Zambia in a dead rubber qualifier in Harare tonight.

“I was praying and hoping that my fellow players be released because I was getting stories that they will be blocked from travelling. I was a bit worried because these were the last two qualifiers and very crucial games.

In this situation, I thought we needed all our best players to win the games like this. Unfortunately, they didn’t come and the team that we fielded was not our best.

Fortunately, those who came in worked hard and won the match. We won the match for them because they deserve it. They have been with us since day one and we needed to win to atone for their disappointment.

Rapper Ti Gonzi assaults his ex-wife for shouting over the phone. The rapper was not asked to plead when he appeared in court over the weekend. His estranged wife Esther Tendere took to the witness stand and told the court that she wanted to withdraw the matter before plea.

Multi-award-winning Zim Hip Hop artist, Ti Gonzi, born Tinashe Gonzara, has been dragged to court after he reportedly assaulted his former wife.

Tendere said her former husband is the one who is providing for the upkeep of their four-year-old son and has a head injury that needs constant check-ups and he has since apologised.

Police records indicate the scuffle took place at Avondale Shops on 25 March when the two were due to discuss the welfare of their child.

Ti Gonzi allegedly asked why his wife was always insulting him over the phone, and then assaulted her with clenched fists on her face.

The accused allegedly threw the pliers he was holding, hitting her right thigh and injuring her in the process. Tendere was rescued by her friend, Natalie Musins and a well-wisher.

Civil Servants reportedly issue salary talks ultimatum

Civil Servants reportedly issue salary talks ultimatum. The government offered civil servants a staggered 75 per cent pay rise when the two parties met on 12 March but the Pubic Service Association wants a 150 per cent pay hike which will see the least paid worker earn 30 thousand Zimbabwe dollars.

Civil servants in Zimbabwe have hinted at going on strike if salary negotiations with the Government do not resume this week.

Meanwhile, several teachers’ unions, among them the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) and the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) are pushing for the restoration of their pre-October 2018 salaries of between US$520 and US$550 or the equivalent in the local currency.

Public Service Association president Cecilia Alexander told ZTN that they have notified the employer of their intention to go on a strike if the parties fail to meet this week. Alexander said:

Unfortunately, there has not been any communication from the Government to date and we are still waiting for them. However, we served them with a letter notifying them that we will go on a strike if they do not act soon.

So if the worst comes to the worst then we will go the strike route. But we are willing to dialogue with them. Therefore we are giving them up until the end of the week to act. Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Professor Paul Mavima said that the talks will resume this week.

I instructed the secretariat last week to ensure that the National Joint Negotiating Council meeting is held this week. So I will make a follow up on the matter. But definitely, they should meet this week.

Zambia beat Zimbabwe 2 – 0 in an AFCON Qualifier match. Zambia defeated a weak Zimbabwe 2 – 0 as they played fro pride after knowing that Zimbabwe and Algeria were already through to the AFCON Finals which will be played in Cameroun next year.

Warriors coach Zdravko Logarušić fielded a weak Zimbabwe side that only saw 2 of the most senior and regular first 11 players in the team, Ovidy Karuru and Alec Mudimu. Kuda Mahachi later came in deep in the last minutes of the game but it was too late for redemption.

Goals from Zambia’s main striker Patson Dhaka sealed a win for the Chipolopolo who were beaten 2 – 1 in the reverse fixture which saw Zimbabwe occupy the number 2 spot that made them qualify to the AFCON Finals.

It’s now over and done for the Warriors who now awaits Cameroun next year. They were beaten today but they already had the job done in Botswana where they defeated the Zebras 1 – 0 to book a place at the 2022 AFCON Finals.

Things continue to crumble for Bona Mugabe and hubby as they are involved in a 20ha land scandal. The city council reportedly was paid US$2 300, but the market price of 20ha of land in Hellensvale ranges from US$4,5 million to US$7,2 million. Seeff Properties, a real estate agent, last week was selling a 0,5ha stand in Hellensvale for US$180 000, which translates to US$7,2 million for 20ha, while Kennan Properties was selling 0,4ha in the same area for US$90 000, which translates to US$4,5 million for 20ha.

Then Cabinet minister Ignatius Chombo reportedly facilitated a deal whereby the daughter of the late former President Robert Mugabe, Mrs Bona Nyepudzai Mutsahuni, and her husband, Mr Simbarashe Mutsahuni, bought 20 hectares of Hellensvale land zoned for recreation for a paltry US$2 300, prejudicing Harare City Council of millions of dollars and flying in the face of town planning regulations.

While Helensvale was part of the huge Borrowdale Estate staked out by three officers of Cecil Rhodes’ occupation column, and so was developed privately, town planning law insists that private landowners developing a new suburb must hand over for free around 20 per cent for education, recreational, or other public uses.

While the development of Helensvale started before the end of the 1960s when Harare City Council absorbed its outer ring of suburbs, the city council would have inherited ownership of the public use slice of Helensvale at that time.

The basic allegations compiled by city investigators are that Chombo, when he was Local Government Minister had the land rezoned to private use, so it could be sold, then arranged it to be sold for a mere US$2 300 for a company called Chordac Investments (Private) Limited, which was fronted at that time by two senior ministry officials but which is a vehicle owned by Mr and Mrs Mutsahuni.

In fact the rezoning was still in progress when the sale went through three days before the redesignation was finalised. The redesignation had to be approved by the Local Government Minister, but that was Chombo.

A land audit report compiled by Harare City Council’s special investigations committee chaired by Councillor Warship Dumba accused Chombo of allocating himself Stand 61 Hellensvale measuring 20ha for US$2 300. But investigations by The Herald found that the property is owned by Chordac Investments with the two directors listed in the Companies’ Registry office being Mrs Bona and Mr Simbarashe Mutsahuni (also known as Chikore).

The Special Investigations Committee’s report noted the anomalies in the way the stand was purchased. “The land was sold to Minister Chombo without following town planning procedures whereby change of land use was approved on March 28, 2008, after he had already bought the stand on March 25, 2008,”

reads part of the report.

While Chombo’s name does not appear on Chordac Investments’ CR14 Form, his close ally Mr Nelson Mhandu, who was a deputy director in the Ministry of Local Government, Rural and Urban Development, was one of the founding directors along with Ms Natsai Jaiwa, who was a principal administration officer in the same ministry during Chombo’s tenure.

However, according to the company’s official documents, Mr Mhandu and Ms Jaiwa resigned as directors of the company on the same day, 11 November 2015, leaving Mr and Mrs Mutsahuni-Chikore as the directors.

Mr Mutsahuni refused to comment on the issue, referring all questions to his lawyer Mr Jonathan Samukange of Venturas and Samukange Legal Practitioners. “We don’t comment on such issues. Just write what you want. We don’t care,” he said.

Mr Samukange responded as follows: “We do not know anything about that property. We also do not know anything about that company (Chodac Investments),” said Mr Samukange.

According to the special report covering land transactions carried out between October 2004 and December 2009, Chombo also stands accused of violating the city’s policy on multiple property ownership as well as pressing council officials to apply to him for a change of land use and then press them to sell the land to him.

The report said contrary to the council policy that an individual must not get more than one residential property from council, the minister acquired vast tracts of public-owned land within greater Harare and registered them in companies associated with him.

A private person can buy as many privately owned stands as they like, but for many decades the council has had a policy of only selling council residential stands to those who own no other city housing, or in later years to those moving upmarket and willing to sell the downmarket stand.

“It remains disturbing to note that the minister (Chombo) would identify pieces of land in the city, influence council officials to apply to him (Chombo) for change of land use, and then sit over the same applications and approve the changes. “He would then write to council officials asking to buy the same stands and obviously get them.

“Land reserved for recreational activities would end up having title deeds in his company’s name. A case in point is Stand 61 Hellensvale, Harare, measuring almost 20 hectares. According to the advice of payment the minister paid $2 300 for this stand,” reads the report.

According to the special report, the investigations carried out proved beyond doubt that Chombo abused his powers in many instances by verbally giving instructions to council on land issues.

It said Chombo’s actions flouted the then Section 313 of the Urban Councils Act of 1996 which entailed that the minister could give directives of a “general character” as to the policy council is to observe in the exercise of its functions as appear to the minister to be requisite in the national interest. “General character” would exclude directives dealing with single stands.

The Act further states that “where the minister considers that it might be desirable to give any directives . . . he shall inform the council concerned in writing of his proposal and council shall, within 30 days or such further period as the minister may allow, submit to the minister, in writing, its views on the proposal and the possible implications on the finances and other resources of the council”.

The act further states that the council shall, with all due expedition, comply with any directives given to it in terms of Section 313 of the Urban Councils Act. There were also clear recommendations ignored from the report that the council should repossess Stand 61 Hellensvale because it was acquired irregularly.

Other recommendations were that there was conflict of interest on the part of Chombo and the stand should revert to its Town Planning Scheme purposes and remain an open space for recreational purposes.

Chombo was recently arrested by the Special Anti-Corruption Unit (SACU) in connection with the Uchena Land Commission Report, which alleges various charges of fraud and criminal abuse of office from his tenure as Minister of Local Government from 2000 to 2015.

He is currently out on bail.

Mozambique ambush leaves dozens dead

Mozambique ambush leaves dozens dead. According to recordings of security calls describing the aftermath of the attack, only seven vehicles in a convoy of 17 made it to safety after the attack on Friday, with seven confirmed dead and many injured in the recovered vehicles. Everyone in the other vehicles is assumed dead.

As many as 60 people — mostly foreign citizens — are unaccounted for following a deadly ambush on their convoy by Islamist militants in northern Mozambique. The harrowing details of the attack came after reports that South Africa was considering sending military forces as part of a mission to rescue its civilians left in the town.

Dozens of people were killed in coordinated jihadist attacks in northern Mozambique’s Palma town, the government said on Sunday, four days after the raid was launched and forced the evacuation of thousands of survivors to safety in the provincial capital Pemba.

Seven people were killed in an ambush during an operation to evacuate them from a hotel where they had sought refuge, it said.

“Last Wednesday, a group of terrorists sneaked into . . . Palma and launched actions that resulted in the cowardly murder of dozens of defenceless people,” defence ministry spokesman Omar Saranga told a news conference.

Foreigners were among those caught in the violence, but the government did not say how many foreign nationals were killed. So far one South African is known to have died during the attack, his family confirmed to AFP.

Warriors stand-in players struggle as they succumb to a 2 – 0 defeat against Zambia

Warriors stand-in players struggle as they succumb to a 2 – 0 defeat against Zambia. The visitors, who crashed out of the race for the Nations Cup finals, after a dramatic 3-3 home draw against African champions Algeria in Lusaka, last Thursday, went with their regular first-team players.

Zimbabwe’s lack of depth was cruelly exposed by a determined Zambia, who rode on a double from their highly-rated forward, Patrick Daka, to end their 2021 AFCON qualifiers, with a face-saving victory at the National Sports Stadium last night.

It was the same approach, which was taken by Djamel Belmadi, who went with his heavy hitters, led by Riyad Mahrez, as they crushed Botswana 5-0 last night, to win the group by five points. In contrast, Warriors’ coach, Zdravko Logarusic, concerned about injuries, and possible suspension of some of his key men, decided to throw in a number of his fringe players.

While the wisdom of his decision is understandable, the lack of quality, among those he called to provide cover for his regular troops, was glaring and what was supposed to be a party atmosphere, for the hosts, turned into a big yawn.

“It’s disappointing but I had to give some of these players a chance to prove themselves,” said Loga. “I really needed to assess some of them and I now have an idea of their strengths and weaknesses.

“It was a tough match and we have picked some positives from it though. The most important thing is that we managed to qualify for the AFCON and we take it from there.”

It quickly became very clear this was a different level, for a number of those who were thrust into battle, in what should concern Loga, who knows he still has a mountain to climb to find the right back-up players, who can step in, and deliver.

The Warriors were simply disjointed, as a unit, with their midfield lacking the cohesion, and life, needed to open the Zambian defence, and feed their forwards, who were left feeding on crumbs.

The home defence, too, was suspect and was given a number of anxious moments by Daka, clearly the best player on the field, who showed once again, why he has such a growing reputation, in European football.

The two goals were a result of mistakes, with Alec Mudimu seeing the ball ricochet off him, into the path of Daka, who slotted the ball home, in the first half. Then, in the dying moments, Daka was left unmarked, given the freedom of the city, to connect the ball into the roof of the net, and end this game as a contest.

The 22-year-old Red Bull Salzburg striker came for the final two AFCON qualifiers, last week, after reports emerged in England that he was wanted by a number of Premiership giants, with Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal leading the hunt for the signature.

A double against Liverpool, in a pre-season friendly against the English champions, is said to have alerted Jurgen Klopp to his potential but, according to Austrian news outlet, Salzburger Nachriten, United, City and the Gunners have joined the queue to try and sign him in a deal with about US$23 million.

“To see our big brothers like (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang, (Mo) Salah and (Sadio) Mane, it’s something that gives me the dream that I can also make it. I can be like them. They are my inspiration, knowing that they also come from Africa,’’ Daka, who has been dubbed “The Next Samuel Etoó,’’ told BBC Sport.

“I think when people are making that kind of comparisons, it’s great, looking at the status of Sadio Mane, the kind of football he plays and the kind of person that he is.”

That profile will rise another notch today after Daka scored twice yesterday, taking his tally to four goals in the last two Nations Cup matches, to help Chipolopolo beat the Warriors. He also scored, in his team’s 1-2 defeat by the Warriors, in Lusaka in the reverse qualifier, taking his personal tally, in those three games, to five, just one short of the six goals which Zimbabwe scored, in their entire campaign.

Zambian coach, Milutin Sredejovic, who appears to be now focusing on the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, will be happy with how his team have reacted, since he took over, with their loss in Botswana, the only blemish to his record.

The Warriors, in contrast, will now go to Cameroon without having won a 2021 Nations Cup qualifier, at home, the first time this has happened for them, in all their successful quests for a place at Africa’s biggest football showcase. Loga is unlikely to read a lot into yesterday’s match but, given that every coach values a good record, a return of just one win, in four AFCON qualifiers, doesn’t look like a good report card, even for a gaffer who has qualified.

He knows the importance of a deep squad and many of his fringe players failed the test last night, struggling to find their rhythm, and appearing to be swallowed by the weight of the occasion. The expectation was that playing, without the pressure that comes with knowing that qualification was at stake, would free them to give the coach a reason to look at them, when he next names his first XI.

But, now and again, many of them failed to move into second gear, struggled to express themselves, and the end product was a poor show, even for a largely second-string side, and the Zambians took full advantage.

Last Jesi’s highly-anticipated debut for the Warriors turned into a nightmare, as he wasn’t given time to settle, and start playing at the level he has shown for his Sudanese side, Al Hilal.

To single him out, though, would be unfair because many of the players, with the exception of skipper Ovidy Karuru, appeared to struggle yesterday and the team failed to create any meaningful chances. Instead, it was the Zambians who could have even scored more, with Enoch Mwepu guilty of missing a gilt-edged chance, with goalkeeper Martin Mapisa, having committed himself to the wrong side.

While others make their way to the kitchen for breakfast where milk is added to a bowl of cereal, others are flown to Sun City.

Media personality Khanyi Mbau‘s partner, Kudzai Mushonga, definitely knows how to live the “soft life”. He treated the star to an over-the-top trip to The Palace Hotel, Sun City, for breakfast this past weekend.

Kudzai organised a blue light escort and a private helicopter to transport them in style.
Kudzai has consistently gone all out with romantic gestures and didn’t hold back on the details for the breakfast date.

Khanyi Mbau

Khanyi took over Kudazi’s IG Stories as she briefly interviewed him about how breakfast at The Leonardo in Sandton just wouldn’t cut it on Sunday and how he was extra in his execution of their trip to Sun City. The reality TV star and actress also took to her IG stories to thank her man for all the spoils.

“Mr K, thank you so much for today,” she said in one of the stories.
Since making her new relationship Instagram official in February, the actress has been flaunting her new bae all over social media.

The two have been inseparable. Earlier this month, she proved her devotion to Kudzai, by making the ultimate declaration of love — a tattoo of her bae’s name on her right thigh.
