The Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) has donated an assortment of goods worth 50 000 to the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS).
Inmates face a myriad of challenges chief among them lack of adequate food supplies, medication and other basic necessities.
Chikurubi female and male inmates were all smiles after they received an assortment of medication, cooking oil, soap, sanitary wear, wheel chairs, brooms and blankets.
ZCDC CEO, Dr Moris Mpofu said the donation is part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility initiative.
ZPCS Commissioner General Paradzai Zimondi implored the corporate world to partner with the ZPCS in its quest to improve the living conditions of inmates.
The ZPCS’s open door policy since 2008 has produced cordial relations between the organisation, the public and corporate world.
