The much-anticipated episode 3 of Somhale’s 4-part wedding special, Somizi and Mohale: The Union, finally streamed yesterday on Showmax. This week, the wedding special highlights all final preparations for the couple’s big day, including a production meeting with the crew involved in all aspects of the wedding, final decor preparations and collecting the couple’s wedding rocks.
Here are some of our favourite moments from Somizi and Mohale: The Union.
1. Decor.
They say a wedding without great decor is dull, hence we all know that Somizi and classy are on the same Whatsapp group – so all components that will see their wedding exquisite, have to be met.
As the episode premieres, Somizi and Mohale are at the Inimitable wedding venue, to do the final decor checkups. We learn that Somizi’s renowned wedding planner Zavion Kotze, in collaboration with Liquid Image Consulting, has imported flowers from abroad.
“We’re flying everything in from Holland, Columbia, Kenya, Thailand,” says Kotze. “So everything is going to be international because we are not going to mess around with your wedding.”
We are talking about international standards, right?
2 Food Tasting.
The most important part of any wedding is food, right? Because guests need to be full, to be on that partying mode. Their wedding food will be prepared by Andrew who presents to the couple in this episode, a dramatic platter of sushi that comes with a jaw-dropping smoke effect.
“The beauty of it is that it tastes amazing as well,” says Somizi. He further says food needs to be mouthwatering, hence looks do not count! “Because sometimes food can be like slay queens: they look nice but they’re not nice when you taste them.”
3. No Priest.
While all the boxes have been ticked, Somizi and Mohale come across one awkward stumbling block. During their visit to the Nungu Diamonds offices, Somizi confirms that they still do not have a priest who will bless their wedding. “We took the idea of a priest for granted,” says Somizi. “At first somebody promised us that they’d be the priest but then they realized that the wedding is no longer on a Saturday but on a Thursday, so they can’t make it… We don’t have a priest.”
By the end of the episode, the two were still deciding about getting a new pastor.
4 Red Bottom Shoes shopping.
The couple goes on a shopping spree to shop for their wedding shoes. We learn that 2 A, a shop in Johannesburg, is the only authorized shop in SA, allowed to sell red bottom shoes. Somizi and Mohale shop for their own shoes and these shoes do not come cheap, you have to cough out a couple of bucks to afford them.
5 Wedding dance moves rehearsals.
As all the groomsmen get to the wedding venue, there is limited time to relax, because they have not rehearsed their wedding dance moves yet. They all gather and rehearse and we see a heartwarming rehearsal of Mohale being walked down the aisle by his dad.
Now we are all waiting with bated breathe to see the last episode of their white wedding, here comes the bride! Next week we are all billed for episode 4, so stock up, some tissues because its the last one.
