President Mnangagwa Commissions Mapfura/Marula processing plant. The President accompanied by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was shown various products from the marula fruit such as edible oils and juices inside the plant that was built by the National Biotechnology Authority of Zimbabwe.

President Mnangagwa Monday commissioned the Marula/Mapfura Processing and Value Addition Plant at Rutenga Growth point in Mwenezi. National Biotechnology Authority of Zimbabwe employees showcasing some of the products from mapfura/marula at the Rutenga plant.

The plant is one of the flagship Government projects in Masvingo province that is set to stimulate socio-economic development. Before touring the plant the President had first planted the marula/mupfura tree at the entrance of the factory.

Also accompanying the President is the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education,Innovation, Science and Technology Development Professor Amon Murwira and several other Cabinet ministers.

Mapfura is an indigenous fruit that is abundant in Mwenezi and neighbouring areas such as Mberengwa. Locals have traditionally been making wine from the fruit but on a small scale.

Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe in US$2,5 million tender scandal. The company, Learbridge Investments (Learbridge) was awarded the tender ahead of more reputable firms offering the service at lesser costs.

Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe has been implicated in massive tender scandal after a company he has interests in won a lucrative tender under suspicious circumstances, it has emerged.

The tender, worth US$2,58 million, is for the supply and installation of a new and upgraded security system at the National Sports Stadium in Harare. Even more curiously, documents seen by NewZimbabwe.com show, Learbridge’s winning bid was inflated by a whooping US$258 000.

Documents show that Leabridge’s bid was placed at US$2 318 935,12, but the tender was awarded at US$2 577 334,01, leaving an unexplained US$258 398, 88 difference.

An official source said about the tender: “Leabridge’s tender was to the tune of US$2 318 935,12 and yet it got awarded one at US$2 577 334,01. So, what happened to the lumpsum of US$258 39,88?” “The competing companies with a known capacity to run installations are Safeguard, Securico and Radio Solutions.”

Although Learbridge sales executive Bernard Marerwa refused to comment on the company’s ownership structure over the phone, a document purportedly released by the company on Monday appeared to confirm Kazembe as the owner.

“I cannot speak about that over the phone and we are yet to get communication that we will be the ones doing the job. This is a long process, and it is not definite,” Marerwa said. In the document, issued Monday, Learbridge does not refute Kazembe’s interests, but claims he is a noble businessman who would not have closed his company upon joining politics.

“If KK is a shareholder was, he supposed to close the company when he joined politics? KK has always been known to be a successful businessman. Records show that he declared all his assets when he became an MP and when he became a minister. His assets are not a secret. Those who know him will tell you that he has always been a successful businessman. How many businesspeople are now eyeing political positions? So, if they become MPs or ministers should they close their businesses? Or should their businesses be discriminated from competing. For the record, Learbridge is standalone company, private one for that matter with its own management,” the document reads.

“There was an assertion on social media sites and other publications that a company called Learbridge believed to be linked to Kazembe Kazembe has won a tender to renovate the National Sports Stadium. The assertions portrayed KK is a selfish corrupt politician who used his influence as Home Affairs Minister to win tenders. Learbridge is a big company that has been around for 20 years doing exactly the same business, that of CCTV, Access Control, Rapid Response, and electronic surveillance in general. This is a company that has done bigger tenders for the Gvt, Banks, UN, Delta, Econet, Since 2008,” the document further reads.

“Learbridge has even done work for the Gvt for the past 20 years. Why were people not talking about it? In 2008 it won tenders to do Barclays Bank Zimbabwe country wide, CBZ countrywide, Econet countrywide. The company was formed in 2002. In 2012 it won the Suprema best distributor award for being the lead distributor in Southern Africa. Learbridge has been a super brand in electronic security for almost two decades. It has a solid track record.”

The tender grant was confirmed in a letter to Learbridge by Sports ministry permanent secretary Thokozile Chitepo, dated 5 August 2021. The ministry said it Learbridge a US$2 318 935,12 tender to “deliver, install and commission an Automated Turnstile System, Electronic Ticketing System, Venue Operation Control, Biometric Access Control and CCTV at the giant stadium”.

Losing bidders include high profile security companies; Securico, Safegurard, Radio Solutions, Sonic Signals, AC Controlds, Setworth, Slow Grand Engineering, Suvkin Enteprise and Sports Health Centre,

This is despite the fact that five of the mentioned companies that submitted bids had bids that were lower than Learbridge’s, with one more than US$1 million dollar less. Chitepo refused to disclose details of the bidding process arguing that “internal proceedings are not disclosable”.

Hospital remand for shot Beitbridge armed robber. Obey Mhuru of Ruzive village, Chief Chimombe, Gutu, is facing two counts of housebreaking and theft involving an AK47 rifle, R3 500 and US$70.

A Suspected armed robber, who was last week run over by a car belonging to a would-be victim in Beitbridge, was yesterday arraigned before the courts.

Mhuru, who was not asked to plead, was remanded to two weeks in custody from his hospital bed at Beitbridge District Hospital by magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba.

He was hit by a car at a house that he had broken into in a bid to commit robbery last Friday.

Allegations are that on September 7, 2021, Mhuru, broke into a cottage at 193 Benne Knot Road in Beitbridge.

He stole a Samsung Galaxy 7 mobile phone, R1 000 and US$70 belonging to Zakaria Manatse and Albert Mtandwa.

Mhuru returned the following day and broke into the main house and stole a collapsible AK47 which had 30 live rounds belonging to Phillip Wutawunashe.

He was arrested on Friday while allegedly attempting to steal at a house along Hill Close. Mhuru sustained back and facial injuries after the owner hit him with a car. He was found in possession of an AK47 gun. Ronald Mugwagwa appeared for the State.

Chaos as poachers steal road rehabilitation sand. The sand poachers are also stealing sand earmarked for use in the ongoing road rehabilitation programme. They are causing serious land degradation in the city and several lives have been lost due to pits they leave uncovered.

The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has declared war on sand poachers in St Peter’s on the outskirts of Bulawayo and yesterday council rangers deflated tyres of some of the suspects’ vehicles in a bid to arrest them. The council’s rangers are engaged in running battles with the sand poachers who become violent as they resist arrest.

Rangers were yesterday forced to shoot tyres of some of the poachers’ vehicles in order to arrest them. A Chronicle news crew witnessed the arrest of two sand poachers in St Peter’s. The owner of a truck whose tyres had been deflated by rangers tried to negotiate with the rangers but they took him to council offices to pay a fine.

Council recently revealed that it was struggling to address the problem of sand poaching as it only has one car and five rangers instead of 74. Bulawayo Ward 17 councillor Ms Sikhululekile Moyo said the sand poaching menace was increasing by the day in St Peter’s and it was difficult to deal with.

“The biggest challenge is that poachers are residents and when we deploy rangers to go and arrest them, villagers defend their children involved in sand poaching and end up fighting the rangers. We have had cases when rangers have been forced to fire warning shots while under siege from violent villagers. What communities do not understand is that the rangers they are fighting are also Bulawayo residents,” she said.

Clr Moyo said what the villagers should appreciate is that sand poaching also affects them as they lose livestock and their children could also fall into the pits. She said some sand poachers had become a threat to some homesteads in St Peter’s as they are digging close to the homes.

Clr Moyo said council had engaged several stakeholders including the police in a bid to stop sand poaching.
Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association Ward 17 chairperson Mr Mandlenkosi Gumunyu said sand poachers attack rangers with shovels.

“Sand poaching is a very serious problem that has affected a lot of homesteads in Robert Sinyoka and St Peter’s villages. Some of the homesteads are seriously threatened by sand poachers who are digging close to the homesteads.

We had a meeting two weeks ago with council rangers and Environmental Management Agency officials and we are happy that some of them have been arrested,” said Mr Gumunyu.

He also blamed sand poachers for stealing sand meant for road rehabilitation works. “There were heaps of sand that were earmarked for road rehabilitation that had been placed along Khami Prison Road.

“But when prisoners arrived today to start work, it was discovered that some of the sand had been stolen,” he said.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said while he was not aware of the latest case, they were alive to the problems caused by sand poachers.

Mabelreign Girls High School viral s.e.x scandal. H-Metro is in possession of chats and material wherein David Tembo, believed to be in his late thirties, would on several occasions plot s.e.xual encounters with the Form three pupil (name withheld), 16, at the school’s premises.

A Mabelreign Girls High-security guard allegedly resigned after alleged s.e.x escapades with a Form Three pupil on the school premises. In the footage obtained, Tembo would send his manh00d on WhatsApp to the Form three pupil who would in return send her nude pictures. In the chats, s.e.x jaunts would take place at the school art room.

In alleged efforts to sweep the scandal under the carpet, Tembo then resigned but is reportedly still residing at the school while the Form three girl pupil was expelled from the school. The school administration is divided over the matter with some calling for retribution.

Sources revealed that the matter was downplayed at the police station after the girl said the encounters were consensual with some accusing the school Head Nomatamsanqa Kusena of mismanaging such serious issues. “The school head Mrs Kusena is so arrogant when it comes to handling issues with aggrieved parents.

“Maybe she has someone at the top who protects her because she has been relieved of duties at some schools before,” said one source. Kusena brushed off the issue. “I am not in a position to speak to the media, I can only refer you to the authorities. “No comment,” she maintained.

Contacted for comment, Tembo denied saying he was not having s.e.xual exploits with the Form three pupil. “I don’t know what you are talking about; yes I know her but the conversations you are referring to are involving another guy.

“It was my phone which was used to send the messages and I was also fixing her phone. “The school head Mrs Kusena can testify because I explained everything to her,” he said. The girl’s mother confirmed to H-Metro that her daughter had s.e.xual encounters with security guard Tembo. “I don’t want to talk about it anymore since it’s distressing my daughter.

“She cannot even handle anything right now. “The school head just brushed us off and nothing more, not even trying to convene a meeting with the security guard whom we heard he just resigned.

“I am not ok,” she explained. The father added that the family was traumatised by how the school is handling the matter. “The Headmistress is protecting a person who manipulated my daughter into s.e.x.

“Nothing has been done to him, and the head just wants us to go away. “The security guy is someone who we entrust our kids with at the school and he is supposed to be a father figure.

“How could he do that to my daughter? “The sad part is that we were just handed a transfer letter and told to look for another school for my daughter because it’s no longer accommodating for her,” explained Victoria’s father.

A fortnight ago, a video of a Mabelreign Girls High School pupil at a lodge went viral on social media wherein men quizzed the presence of a school girl at a compromising jaunt centre.

Ironically, the school authorities drew a veil over the matter as Mabelreign residents expressed their concerns. In 2019, hundreds of Mabelreign Girls High School pupils staged a demonstration calling for the removal of a male deputy school head from their girls’ dormitories.

They walked for almost a kilometre to Mabelreign Police Station holding placards and chanting songs denouncing the deputy head. Their grievances were that school authorities were ignoring their concerns and their rights were being violated daily.

Veteran Sungura ace Leonard Dembo had anger issues. Gift said the departed Barura Express boss would register his dismay when wronged. Leonard Dembo’s younger brother and former bouncer Gift Tazvivinga says the late sungura legend had anger issues.

The 60-year-old revealed this to H-Metro Entertainment & Lifestyle on the sidelines of Leonard Dembo’s tombstone unveiling held over the weekend.

Dembo died on April 9 1996 aged 37 and his legacy still lives on 25 years after his death. While many people are familiar with his music, Dembo respected his privacy but had anger issues, according to his young brother.

“My brother was a humble person but when wronged we knew that we were in trouble. “So unpredictable was Dembo that when wronged, he would rise and show us that he didn’t like what we would have done.

“At times he would just leave everything when wronged and my brother would calm down later. “After calming down, he would advise us not to repeat the same mistake,” he said. On the positives, Gift said Dembo was a hard working person. “My brother was a perfectionist who had faith in whatever he did in his life that we all followed suit.

“He was a generous person who looked after extended families and all he preached was unity. “This is the same unity that we are also preaching to exist among his children so that they same guard the legacy,” he said. Gift said he was worried about media reports tarnishing the image of the family.

“A lot of negative publicity has badly affected as a family at a time that we want to ensure that we save the Barura Express brand. “We can’t stop the media from writing about the family but what we need is that the media needs to verify their facts,” he said.

Asked what they were doing to preserve Dembo’s legacy, Gift added: “It’s no doubt that Dembo left behind a void that will always be difficult to fill.

“We are happy that Tendai and Morgen are doing well but let’s admit that the void is huge. “I just pray that Tendai and Morgen combine their efforts and safeguard this because they have different strengths.

“We have tried to resolve it as a family but it’s up to the boys to combine forces and really work hard. “As a father figure, I just want unity to prevail in the family as is the case right now.”

However, King 98 who handed over groceries to Harare Children’s Home midweek, told H-Metro Entertainment & Lifestyle he was determined to fulfil his father’s wish and change needy people’s lives.  “I’m also one person who have a soft spot for children and I hope someone from this place will be happy today,” he said.

The Kachiri hit-maker, who was accompanied by his management, assured authorities as the facility housing 85 children that he will continue assisting them. “I’m a phone call away and I will always welcome you. My arms are always open if you need anything.

“You only need to give me a phone call and I will assist you in the best way I can. “I have always believed in assisting others. If you have kids blessed in sport, you can always let me know,” he said.

Music wise, King 98 said he was now mentally fit to carry on from where he left after being drained by the death of his father. “I feel I am now ready to work hard and continue pushing my music with the help of my mother.

“We have 85 children here and 35 staff complement who need food, especially the young children. “Of course, we run self-help projects at the school like poultry but it’s never enough.

“As you know, children need three decent meals per day and King 98’s donation has come at a right time,” said Kumbirai Tipedze, one of the administrators at the orphanage.

Tipedze, who also works with a team of dedicated social workers comprising Gladys Matiza and Stelia Chikana, hailed King 98 for remembering young children. “Today the kids will be very happy because of what you have done to them by sharing what you have.

“Things we do for our children have lasting impressions and today you have done a good job. “This is what the kids need to be cheered up and as a team of social workers, we are also doing our best to ensure they are happy,” she added.

She however appealed to well-wishers to assist them rehabilitate the security fence which was vandalised. “We have been looking for donations from well-wishers to assist us in erecting a precast security wall here because our security fence has been destroyed,” she said.

Harare Children’s home was established in 1918, courtesy of the Weseyan Church Synod who initiated the establishment of the home. The centre started with 11 homeless orphans as a result of the post-World War 1 depression. Over the years, the place grew to become a safe haven for the homeless as it caters for orphans from various backgrounds.

Leonard Dembo’s ‘no nonsense’ widow Eunice (nee Munatsi) said she deliberately ‘lied’ her totem when she was introduced to the community to be embraced by villagers.

She sent guests into roars of uncontrollable laughter in her address at the unveiling of Leonard Dembo’s tombstone as she confessed her ‘lie’ which made her settle. “When I came here, I told people that I was Mamoyo because the Chihera totem is usually associated with rowdy people.

“I was really embraced by villagers who only realised at a later stage that I was actually Chihera. “This lie really helped me to settle and get well along with others and the trick really worked in my favour,” she said.

She said life has never been the same without her husband Leonard who died and left her with a young family. “When Dembo died, my kids were very young and it meant I had to work hard and sent them to school.

“As a young widow, it meant that I had to focus on the right thing like sending them to school and I am glad that I managed to fulfil my prayer. “I did not think of re-marrying because it was never a priority in my life since I put my children first.

“I wish Dembo was here seeing his children who have grown up to this stage where they are now able to fend for themselves,” she said. Mai Dembo hailed family doctor and friend Dr Johannes Marisa who has been supporting the family.

“I don’t have a problem each time I get sick because I know I will always be treated by Dr Marisa. “I have never seen such a kind man in my life because he doesn’t complain that I always come back for treatment.

“I also want to thank his wife who has also been supportive to us. If I was Dr Marisa’s wife, I don’t think I could be that kind because people with that golden heart are hard to come by,” he she said. She also hailed fans of Leonard Dembo, friends and fans who graced the event.

“We had sent letters to many people including musicians but some of them did not show up here. “We are grateful to those who came and what makes me happy is that the programmes went according to plan. “We also want to thank Ngoda Granite who brought the tombstone here all the way from Harare. “This kind of support is overwhelming and we value it,” she added.

Tsitsi Dangarembga wins German peace prize. Tsitsi Dangarembga is “a widely audible voice of Africa in contemporary literature,” the jury said in its statement. The 62-year-old was honoured for her artistic work, but also for her political commitment.

Zimbabwean author and filmmaker Dangarembga was honoured with the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade. In her acceptance speech, she called for overcoming old hierarchical thought patterns, also with the help of language.

“The solution is to undo the racialize and other hierarchical modes of thinking based on demographics such as gender, sex, religion, nationality and class. And any other that were and continue to be the building blocks of empire throughout history and throughout the world,” she said.

In her trilogy of novels, Tsitsi Dangarembga uses the example of an adolescent woman to describe the struggle for the right to a decent life and female self-determination in Zimbabwe. Her debut novel, “Nervous Conditions,” published in 1988, was included by the BBC in 2018 in its list of the 100 most important books that have shaped the world.

The 1993 film “Neria,” for which she wrote the story, is one of the most popular films in Zimbabwe. Her new novel “This Mournable Body” was nominated for the shortlist of the Booker Prize in 2020. In addition to her work as an author and filmmaker, Tsitsi Dangarembga has been active for many years in promoting freedom and women’s rights and political change in Zimbabwe.

The Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, which has been awarded since 1950, is one of Germany’s most important awards, worth 25,000 euros. With it, the German Publishers and Booksellers Association honors a personality who has contributed to the realization of the idea of peace.

Marvelous Nakamba linked with a £15m Newcastle move. Newcastle were initially interested in signing Nakamba before the start of the season but the Birmingham-based side opted against sanctioning a move for the hardworking midfielder.

Zimbabwe international and Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has been linked with a £15m move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window. However, after the recent £300m takeover of Newcastle United by a Saudi Arabian-backed consortium, they could have a huge amount to spend on new players in January.

It could see Newcastle eventually build in the same manner as Chelsea and Manchester City, turning into one of the most successful teams in the country. According to a British football website, Football Insider, a source at Newcastle has claimed that the Magpies are keen on signing Nakamba, who has made 57 appearances for Villa.

Newcastle, who are in danger of being relegated want to improve their quality in central midfield and believe that the 27-year-old could be a perfect addition in that respect. A bid of around £15m could be enough to prise the 23-cap Zimbabwe international away from Villa Park.

While Nakamba has been a good performer for Villa – he has the best passing accuracy rate of anyone in the current squad this season he has continued to play second fiddle to Villa head coach Dean Smith’s preferred midfield two of Douglas Luiz and John McGinn.

He has not started for Villa in the Premier League since the opening-day defeat to Watford and only four appearances off the substitutes bench have come his way since.

Last season Nakamba came in from the bench to play against Newcastle, putting in a sound showing and he also began the defeats of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in the final two games of Villa ‘s 2020-21 campaign.

Zimboz react to Prophet T Freddy’s video making woman P00P on stage during healing service. It seems like new-age self-proclaimed prophets across the world, but in Africa in particular, are always coming up with novel ways to “cure” and “heal” the afflicted as they minister to their congregants.

The prophets seem to be in a constant battle to do the most outrageous things so that they can attract huge numbers to their churches and Zimbabwe clergyman, Prophet T Freddy is the latest to join the trend. The founder of the Goodness and Mercy Ministries is trending after he made a woman poop on stage during a healing service.

During the rather undignified healing process, the Prophet can be heard shouting “come out, come out.” After the woman has the bowel movement on stage, congregants can be seen clapping sheepishly, while Prophet T Freddy declares that they have just witnessed the “power of God.”

The video of the healing was shared on the church’s social media platforms. The video is now going viral after being shared widely. However, people do not seem to be too impressed with Prophet T Freddy’s means of healing. Some called out religious leaders to consider their congregants’ dignity when performing their “healing miracles.”

Some called for the authorities to regulate churches and for some to be banned. Others mocked the so-called miraculous healing and accused prophets of exploiting the gullible and the desperate.

Paul Mwazha disputes continue. The court had ruled that the archbishop Paul Mwazha remains at the helm of the church despite being 103 years old. The break-away faction in the Paul Mwazha led African Apostolic Church stands accused of causing a further rift between members despite a recent Supreme Court ruling putting finality to the leadership wrangle.

*In a latest development, the church has filed an urgent High Court chamber application for interlocutory relief claiming that Alfred Mwazha who was nullified as a successor and his brothers were still giving separate orders to congregants.

In an affidavit deposed by the church’s vice chairperson of the Board of Trustees Patrick Mahachi and Reverend Ernest Mhambare, the faction has allegedly organised an illegal meeting from 29th to 31st of October.

Alfred, Ngoni, Masimba and James (all sons to Paul Mwazha), Elson Tafa, Richard Juru, Charles Tekeshe, Lovemore Mharadze and Norman Siyamuzhombwe have been cited as respondents.

“This is an application for an interdict to stop the interference by Alfred Mwazha and others with the operations of the African Apostolic Church which is a church of more than a hundred thousand people cutting across four continents.

“Notwithstanding, the decision of the Supreme Court, which decided with finality and dismissed the leadership claims under Alfred Mwazha, who has contemptuously defied the judgment, together with the other Respondents and have set up parallel structures and appointments to confuse the Church.

“Together they have convened an illegal meeting at the church’s shrine in Ndarikure shrine in the Midlands Province set for on the 29th -31 October 2021,” reads the urgent application. Mahachi claims rights of the church will be infringed and the faction can’t be allowed to be in contempt of a court order.

“Contrary to the Supreme Court Judgment and in clear defiance of the highest Court in the land, the Respondents have contemptuously defied the determination of the Superior Courts. “They have continued with their nefarious activities, reorganising the church’s structures and making their own appointments and running the church according to their whims and caprices.

“The Supreme Court conclusively determined the dispute revolving around the internecine wrangle by Alfred Mwazha, the ruling ended the leadership crisis in the Church declaring that leader of the Church was Archbishop Ernest Paul Mamvura Mwazha,” added Mahachi.

Accordingly, the church claims the faction now views themselves as a renegade faction within the Church above the laws of Zimbabwe and are a law unto themselves. The matter is pending.

Mum and sister beat daughter to death. Vimbiso, a security guard, was reported to have forced the now deceased to lie down and beat her accusing her of misbehaving before she left for a night duty work.

A Budiriro woman, with the help of her sister, allegedly beat her 11-year-old daughter to death. Vimbiso Muzvagwa, 26, and Florence Nyasha Muzvagwa, 23, are facing murder charges for assaulting the former’s daughter Ropafadzo Muzvagwa to death.

Florence stands accused of further beating the now deceased but lodged a police report against Vimbiso after discovering that Ropafadzo was no longer breathing. Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed arrest of Vimbiso saying she was assisting police with investigations.

However, H-Metro established that Florence was arrested some hours after Vimbiso and the two are being held at Budiriro police station and are expected to appear in court today. “Police arrested a Budiriro woman in connection with a suspected murder case,” said Insp Mwanza.

“It is alleged that the now deceased, who is the accused person’s daughter, was living with her grandmother (mother to the suspect), in Beatrice since her mother and father were divorced. “The now deceased was reportedly misbehaving as she demanded to go to her father.

“Two weeks ago the accused person is believed to have sent her younger sister, Florence, to go and get the now deceased from Beatrice after receiving complainants that she was misbehaving.

“On the 23rd of October 2021 and at around 3pm, the now deceased had a misunderstanding with her mother when she requested to go and stay with her father Roy Chikoore as she claimed she would live better with her father than with her mother.

“The suspect allegedly beat her with a cooking stick on the buttocks until it broke into two pieces. “The suspect reportedly made a call to the now deceased’s father telling him to come and get his child but the father never came.

“On the 24th day of October 2021 and at around 2pm the suspect and the now deceased had a misunderstanding again which made the now deceased repeat that she wanted to go and stay with her father.

“This did not go down well with her mother who then picked up a brown leather sandal made up of a tyre sole and instructed her to lie down. “She then allegedly beat her several times on the back and on both legs.

“The suspect then ordered the now deceased to do household chores before she left for work leaving the now deceased sitting on the sofa in the lounge with Florence at around 4:30pm. “At around 8pm the suspect received a call from Florence to the effect that the now deceased had collapsed. “She reportedly got back home.

“On arrival at around 9pm she allegedly noticed the now deceased lying on the bed motionless and took some salt and rubbed her on the neck, armpits, hands and stomach. “It is very sad to report such an incident where life was lost.

“Investigations are currently underway to establish what transpired,” said Insp Mwanza. H-Metro established that Vimbiso and Florence have been hooking several men and some of their potential clients were reported to have been s.e.xually abusing the 11-year-old.

The now deceased’s father Roy Chikoore told H-Metro that he last spoke to his daughter some hours before the assault on Vimbiso’s phone.“I separated with Vimbiso sometime in 2012 and got married to another wife,” said Chikoore.

“On the fateful day she phoned me complaining about how she was being physically abused by her mother. “Akanditi mukanonoka kuuya kuzonditora munowana ndaurayiwa namhamha nekurohwa handichadi kugara navo.

“I promised to come and pick her this Wednesday but hey it’s painful. “They have killed my daughter,” said Chikoore. The body was taken to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital for post-mortem.

Illegal forex dealer back in court. Tatenda Patrick Musonza who is now out of custody appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje who remanded him to November 29.

Illegal foreign currency dealer Musonza of Titanium Capital Private Limited was back in court yesterday for routine remand.

In his bail hearing, the court heard that Musonza had over 429 agents across the country who were distributing $210 475 688 illegally on his behalf.

Other forex dealers Dream High Investment and Tinashe Mugada, Kudzai Mudonhi and Kay Mudonhi Investments, Juso Global and Justice Mahuni as well as Capital Profit Finance and Titus Madzara were remanded to appeared in court on October 28 later this week.

The court heard that Magada distributed $143 669 348 through his Ecocash bulk payer line to various Ecocash lines and purchased United States dollars on the parallel market.

Justice Mahuni and Kudzai Mudonhi of Kay Mudonhi Investments are accused of illegally disposing of $150 128 765 through their various agents across the country.

Justice Mahuni on behalf of his other company is accused of illegally distributing $38 049 000 on the black market. Madzara is accused of illegally distributing $59 237 733 buying US dollars on the black market. Lancelot Mutsokoti appeared for the State.

War Veterans arrested for demonstrating for better pension. The liberation war fighters were part of dozens of other war veterans who were demonstrating at Africa Unity Square on Tuesday. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested more than 20 war veterans who were protesting in Harare against poor pension earnings.

In August this year, nine former liberation war combatants were arrested after staging a protest at the offices of the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube, demanding an upward review of their earnings.

They were released without charge. Tuesday’s protests coincide with major ZANU PF activities that include the conference and campaigns for the removal of sanctions against the country.

Some ZANU PF officials told The Standard recently that the protests were part of a strategy by a faction led by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga meant to remove President Emmerson Mnangagwa from power.

War veterans have been instrumental in local politics with the ruling party deploying them across the country to mobilise the citizenry to vote for the former revolutionary party.

They were also instrumental in the ouster of the late founding leader of Zimbabwe, Robert Gabriel Mugabe, as they launched a series of protests that were met by state brutality that in turn made Mugabe more unpopular.

The veterans of the 1970s war were in 1997 given Z$50 000 in gratuities each by President Robert Mugabe’s government after embarking on a series of protests.

The unbudgeted payouts that amounted to $2 000 saw the Zimbabwe dollar losing its value by 70 per cent in one day and analysts say the move signalled Zimbabwe’s well documented economic collapse.

Nevertheless, the ageing veterans argue that the government was meant to have paid them Z$500 000 each in 1997 but up to date they have not received the balance. Apart from money, they want mining concessions.

Here is the video that made War Veterans to be arrested. Dozens of war veterans took to Harare streets this Tuesday protesting against poor pension earnings. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) arrested over 20 of them.

The defiant former liberation war combatants said they were living in abject poverty while political elites were leading luxurious lives. They said they were ready to be arrested or die for staging the protests meant to push the government to review their pensions.

They said they used to have better lives but now the situation has deteriorated. Watch the video below for more details. Earlier this month, South Africa’s liberation struggle war veterans marched to African National Congress (ANC) Headquarters regarding grievances as veterans.

They previously demonstrated in ‘defense of its people, freedoms, and the future’ after claiming that the ANC government was failing in its duty to effectively run the country.

The trend shows that some African governments are failing to address the veterans’ grievances neither do they have sustainable plans for the welfare of war veterans.
