Andile Mpisane takes away BMW he bought Sithelo Shozi; demands paternity test for his 2nd child

Andile Mpisane shocked Mzansi last month (December) when he proposed marriage to Tamia after he was spotted with his baby-mama Sithelo Shozi in November.

Shozi and Mpisane went car shopping, where he purchased a luxury BMW for her and an equally elegant Mercedez for himself.

A local publication has reported that Mpisane has now taken the luxury BMW back from Shozi.

The publication also states that Mpisane’s mother Shauwn MaMkhize Mpisane demanded a paternity test for Shozi and Andile’s second child.

A source close to the family states that the MaMkhize has always heard stories about Sithelo and her motives for dating her son.

She also didn’t approve of her son’s age gap with his baby mama as Shozi is 27 and Andile is 20.

Squabbles over the paternity test led to Shozi being cut off abruptly and Andile getting married to Tamia.

DJ Sithelo Shozi is a mother of three children – a boy named Makhosi from a previous relationship with Makhosini Maseko AKA Lord Phil.

Shozi allegedly had baby Makhosini, her eldest child whilst Lord Phil was married to Thandeka Sibiya.

She has two daughters Flo Mpisane and allegedly has another daughter Coco Mpisane with Andile Mpisane.

She gave birth to her second daughter this past July and she and Mpisane celebrated their first daughter’s first birthday in May 2021.

Shozi and the Mpisanes have not revealed the identity alleged second daughter on the internet yet.

VIDEO: Makhadzi teaches President Ramaphosa how to dance

Multi-award-winning musician Makhadzi attended the ANC 110 Limpopo celebrations and had a great time teaching President Cyril Ramaphosa how to dance. The talented dancer had fans singing along as she performed, with the ruling party’s leadership on the stage to dance to the music.

Makhadzi is starting 2022 the same way she closed 2021. The Matorokisi singer bought three houses in 2021, one for her grandmother, another for her mother, and herself. She said she wanted people close to her to be comfortable first before herself. She finished the year as one of the most successful artists in the country, bagging deals and winning awards.

She won her first international award in Nigeria. She shrugged off competition from Burna Boy, Diamond Platinumz, and Fali Ipupa and was announced as Continental Category – Artist of the year winner. She put an electric performance during the awards ceremony.

She signed a deal worth a whopping R120 million with sportswear maker Kicks to design and promote Kokovha inspired sneakers. She showed her mother to the world for the first time. She must be proud of her, given the musician had a difficult upbringing.

Makhadzi was criticized last year for wearing the corruption accused ruling party’s regalia when she was called to the Union Buildings by President Ramaphosa. His followers were unhappy with her association with the ANC and believed she must speak up against the revolutionary party and not support it.

Elsewhere, opposition party EFF was also holding a rally in KZN dubbed the KZNThankYou Rally.

Lawyers: Prophet T Freddy alleged r@pe victim were lovers

Lawyers: Prophet T Freddy alleged r@pe victim were lovers. Freddy denies r@ping the 33-year-old woman employed as a radio DJ by the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).

Lawyers representing the founder of Goodness and Mercy Ministries, Tapiwa Freddy, better known as Prophet T Freddy, on Friday played audio of a recorded phone call between him and his accuser, which they said proved the two were lovers.

The complainant claims the attack happened at her Mt Pleasant Heights home on a date in November 2020. Freddy, a married self-proclaimed prophet, insists he had consensual s.e.x with his accuser, claiming that she only reported him for rape when he ended their affair.

His lawyer Everson Chatambudza played an audio recording in court in which the complainant said during a call: Shaa (dear), I’m sorry. Ye ropa (about the bleeding) and scratches was just a story to spice up things.

Chatambudza told the court that the complainant had told Freddy that she bleeds and has scratched inside her thighs each time they are intimate.

The lawyer argued that if the audio does not prove that the alleged victim is a liar, it does at least prove that they were in a relationship and quite comfortable to discuss their s.e.x life.

During cross-examination, Freddy’s lawyers accused the complainant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, of giving a statement to the police that was different from her testimony in court.

The woman admitted to leaving out a lot of information in the police statement but maintained that all she said was true. Said Chatambudza:

There is nothing in your police statement that you tried to stop him from getting into your bedroom. You said (in court) that Freddy entered your bedroom and lay on your bed. Much later you say he stood up and locked the door and put the keys under the pillow.

This means the door was still unlocked when you came into the bedroom and found the accused lying in bed. Why is it that you never took any action, why did you not leave?

Govt set to raise civil servants’ wages

Govt set to raise civil servants’ wages. In an interview with The Sunday Mail, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Paul Mavima said the Government will gradually raise civil servants’ salaries to a point where they match their previous earnings in United States dollars.

The Government is set to table a fresh salary increment proposal when it meets civil servants’ representatives on Wednesday, a cabinet minister has said. Said Mavima:

We have our own position, but obviously, I cannot disclose it to the press before we meet with the employees. Whatever the outcome, we shall go back to Cabinet where the issue will be discussed. As the employer, we have the best interests of the civil servants at heart.

We have always said that we are committed to their welfare as well as meeting their request for salaries to match the money they used to earn in US dollars.

But it’s a gradual process and considering the progress we have made as well as exchange rate stability; this is the year to consolidate on that progress.

We are meeting them (civil servants) on Wednesday and we will listen to what they want from us. After the deliberations with the unions, we will then present the matter to Cabinet and pick it up from there.

Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (ZCPSTU) secretary-general David Dzatsunga also confirmed that they will meet Government representatives this week. He said:

We are meeting on Wednesday and that’s when we will be able to tell you the outcome. But our concerns are genuine and they are well documented, we hope the Government will hear our case.

President ED showers praises on Douglas Mwonzora’s Mayor, Invites her for a braai

President ED showers praises on Douglas Mwonzora’s Mayor, Invites her for a braai. Titora was elected Kwekwe mayor after Mwonzora’s party recalled Angeline Kasipo on allegations of being sympathetic to opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday showered praises on Kwekwe mayor Future Titora (MDC Alliance), an ally of MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora, for providing good leadership to the city.

The MDC-T is accused of being used by the ruling ZANU PF party to try to destroy the opposition in Zimbabwe and create a de facto one-party state, a charge the party denies.

In spite of the denials, Mwonzora appears to be cosier with Mnangagwa than with other opposition political figures. The two met at State House as recently as last week.

The MDC-T controlled City of Kwekwe gifted Mnangagwa with two cattle, which prompted the ZANU PF leader to invite Titora for a braai at his Sherwood farm. Said Mnangagwa:

I have heard that from the central government with the ministry being led by minister Ndlovu (Environment Minister) that Kwekwe, through the leadership of its mayor, has shown great leadership.

Mind you, the mayor is of the same Shumba totem as me, so she is very good. We have realised that Kwekwe is advanced in terms of adhering to the requirements of the central government. We are, therefore, going to prioritise Kwekwe ahead of other cities and towns as the central government for a waste management site.

After the site would have been established the next phase as government, we are going to give them a plant, a power generation plant which processes waste to generate electricity for the city.

Mnangagwa urged members of the public and local authorities to adopt best waste management practices which include separation and segregation of waste. He added:

I would like to thank Kwekwe for the gifts. We will take them (cattle) to my farm. Mayor, you are free to drop by my farm which is in Sherwood, and we can braai these beasts.

The ZRP is investigating an armed robbery case that occurred at Mukuvisi Woodlands, Harare on 08/01/22 at about 0110 hours. 10 unknown male suspects armed with an unidentified rifle, catapults, hammers and iron bars stormed the premises before capturing two guards and a caretaker.

Farmers have until 15 January to plant cereals

$

Farmers have until 15 January to plant cereals. Chief Agritex Officer in charge of Bulawayo and Matabeleland North Provinces, Dumisani Nyoni said farmers should not plant maize, sorghum and millet after 15 January.

The Department of Agricultural, Technical and Extension Services (Agritex) has advised farmers to take note of the 15 January cut off for planting cereals and plant short-season variety crops after that date. Said Nyoni:

We are saying to farmers, they should plant maize, sorghum and millet up to 15 January 2022, beyond this date they should not plant those crops. They need to plant ultra-early maturing varieties that take 90 to 115 days. They should plant sugar beans, cowpea, sunflower and sweet potatoes now, those can be planted up to the end of January.

We get our maximum temperatures in November and December, these highest heat units aid in growing the crops, after January the temperatures start going down and the growth of crops like maize if planted in January becomes low. The crops are likely not to mature if planted after 15 January.

If you look at last season, the rains ended at the end of February in many places, so crops planted in January didn’t mature so that is why we are saying, from past records, anything planted after 15 January, if it’s maize, sorghum and millet is problematic in terms of maturing.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Services Department (MSD) is still forecasting a normal to above normal rainfall season despite a dry spell that affected some parts of the country in December.

The MSD said that the wet spell being experienced in the country will continue until February, with more rainfall expected for the next eight weeks.

The Met Department said they will continue to monitor the rainfall systems as they change and would keep the nation informed if there were any changes to previous forecasts.

MDC A’s Haruzivishe pledges to continue fighting against injustices

MDC A’s Haruzivishe pledges to continue fighting against injustices. Prominent MDC Alliance activist Makomborero Haruzivishe was granted bail by the High Court on Friday and released from prison on Saturday after spending ten months and 22 days behind bars on several criminal charges.

Haruzivishe has vowed to continue fighting against civil and political injustice even in the face of State persecution. Addressing party supporters and activists who had come to welcome him from prison on Saturday, Haruzivishe said:

As long as they continue charging us on flimsy charges we will not be deterred and prison is just prison, people go in and go out and even if it means that I will go back again I will as long as we get our rights and freedoms.

We know that it is not an easy road and great sacrifices will be made, others have made bigger sacrifices, others have paid the ultimate price, we can talk of Itai Dzamara and all those victims of the ferret.

The charges I got in here for our constitutionally guaranteed freedom of assembly and freedom of expression and they try to criminalize that, it is awkward but only serves to strengthen me more that they wanted to scare me away and we are the people in charge and victory is certain.

State capture is a reality, getting into prison for this prolonged period enabled me to see that we have a bigger fight than what we imagined especially within our justice system we have a bigger fight, and we have to pull up our socks and be more radical in terms of educating the masses for them to know the problem that we have which chiefly emanates from military capture.

Man drowns girlfriend in sewage stream

Man drowns girlfriend in sewage stream. The suspect has been named in court papers as Josphat Sibanda (37), of house number 20530 Pumula South and the victim is Constance Chitete (32).

A man from Bulawayo’s Pumula South suburb was arrested for allegedly killing her girlfriend by drowning her in a sewage stream around 5 AM on New Year’s Day.

Sibanda appeared at the Western Commonage Magistrate’s Court before Shepherd Munjanja and was remanded in custody to 19 January. Munjanja advised Sibanda to apply for bail at the High Court.

Prosecutor Melisa Dube told the court that on 1 January 2022, the informant, Lwazi Sibanda, and her husband, Witness Sibanda, heard the now deceased Chitete screaming.

The couple then proceeded to where the screams were coming from, which is a place close to a sewage stream. They saw the accused having a heated argument with the now deceased and tried to intervene by negotiating with Sibanda who was holding Chitete aggressively.

It is further alleged that Sibanda pushed his girlfriend into the sewage stream and afterwards jumped into the stream himself.

He then held her by the neck and shoulder and immersed her into the water for a period of about two minutes. Sibanda reportedly repeated the procedure several times without giving Chitete time to breathe.

Chitete tried hard to free herself from Sibanda’s grip while she gargled as the sewer water was getting in her nose and mouth. Sibanda held her steadfastly until she died.

Chitete’s body was ferried to United Bulawayo Hospitals where a postmortem was conducted on 3 January by Dr Juana Rodriguez Gregory. The doctor established that the cause of death was Asyphixia and drowning.

Harare City Council demolishes illegal structures in Mbare

Harare City Council demolishes illegal structures in Mbare. On Friday, the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance party had warned residents of the impending demolitions in Mbare.

The City of Harare, with support from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), on Saturday destroyed vendors’ market stalls and tuckshops in Mbare, one of Harare’s oldest suburbs.

The opposition party accused Harare Provincial Affairs secretary Tafadzwa Muguti and the ruling ZANU PF party of being the driving force behind the demolitions. A message posted on the MDC Alliance’s social media channels read:

In Harare Metropolitan Province, [ZANU PF] has directed Harare City Council to demolish markets and tuckshops in Mbare. The process will start tomorrow Saturday, 8th of January 5 AM.

Contacted for comment by The Standard during the demolitions on Saturday, Muguti refused to say anything about the operation. The operation started around 8 AM with bulldozers and front-end loaders destroying all structures deemed illegal.

Most of the structures that were demolished in yesterday’s operation were those built along roads around the Mupedzanhamo area. ZRP national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed police deployment in Mbare saying they were there to maintain law and order.

However, scores of informal traders were left counting their losses with some saying they had totally lost their sources of livelihood. One of the traders, Simbarashe Chibaya said:

We had heard that they were coming, and so some traders started removing their stuff last night, but most failed to do so.

These people are really heartless; they came before 8 am just to demolish our vending stalls. Personally, I have been hurt beyond words. I have a son who will soon be going to university and I need to raise school fees for him. What am I going to do now?

Can you imagine what was going on in their heads, coming to destroy our livelihoods during the rains? Vendors for Social and Economic Transformation executive director Samuel Wadzai condemned the demolitions describing them as illegal and barbaric.

MDC-Alliance secretary for Local Government Sesel Zvidzai called on the Government to legalise the informal sector instead of resorting to terrorising vendors. Said Zvidzai:

Traditionally, whenever it’s cold or raining, ZANU PF always wants to punish people in cities because they know that they rejected them long back. So they are trying to punish them.

Our policy is that we support the poor, we don’t punish them because they are already suffering. If there is a need for the regularisation of informal sectors, we believe we must regularise rather than punish the people.

AFCON Finals: Covid-hit teams reportedly to play with just 11 players and no keeper. New guidelines from the Confederation of African Football (Caf) state matches will still go ahead even if none of the 11 players is a goalkeeper. Any nation unable to fulfil a fixture will forfeit the game 2-0.

Countries suffering Covid outbreaks will have to play their Africa Cup of Nations matches even if they have only 11 players available. The guidance has been issued after several nations reported Covid cases before the tournament starts on Sunday.

Caf said that in “exceptional cases” the tournament’s organising committee “will take the appropriate decision”.

On Friday Egypt delayed their departure for the tournament, which is taking place in Cameroon, and were forced to cancel training after coronavirus cases were reported in their camp.

The Pharaohs, who have won the competition a record seven times, eventually flew to Cameroon on Saturday. Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was among two players to test positive in the Gabon squad on Thursday.

Guinea were forced to leave behind defender Mikael Dyrestam, midfielder Morlaye Sylla and striker Seydouba Soumah at their training base in Rwanda.

Cape Verde and debutants Gambia were hit by several positive tests last week, while Tunisia have also reported cases from their pre-tournament camp.

Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and captain Kalidou Koulibaly have both tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of Monday’s match against Zimbabwe; all 52 games throughout the tournament will be shown live across Sky Sports; the competition concludes with the final on Sunday February 6.

The Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will miss Senegal’s opening Africa Cup of Nations match against Zimbabwe on Monday after testing positive for coronavirus.

Mendy joins captain Kalidou Koulibaly and striker Famara Diedhiou on the sidelines for their Group B opener after all three players tested positive for Covid-19.

It leaves the tournament favourites with a threadbare squad for the match in Bafoussam after six players – Saliou Ciss, Bamba Dieng, Mame Baba Thiam, Pape Matar Sarr, Nampalys Mendy and second-choice goalkeeper Alfred Gomis – all remained in Dakar on Wednesday after testing positive.

Senegal are also without Watford winger Ismaila Sarr and Royal Antwerp defender Abdoulaye Seck, who are both injured.

Senegal head coach Aliou Cisse said on Sunday: “It’s a difficult and complicated situation. “But we are going to be competitive and those there are going to play for those who are absent. “We are still going into the game against Zimbabwe full of confidence.”

In Other News – Jose Mourinho ran onto the pitch to stop Tammy Abraham from seeing a red card: Video

Jose Mourinho ran on to the pitch to stop Tammy Abraham from seeing a red card. Roma were defeated by AC Milan in their Serie A clash at the San Siro on Thursday evening.

Jose Mourinho’s side fell 2-0 behind after just 17 minutes. Olivier Giroud struck the opener after eight minutes, before Junior Messias doubled the home side’s lead just before the 20-minute mark. Tammy Abraham halved the deficit with five minutes remaining of the first-half.

But Roma could not find an equaliser in the second 45 minutes. Rafael Leao’s 82nd minute goal condemned I Giallorossi to a 3-1 defeat. Roma finished the game with nine-men as Rick Karsdorp and Gianluca Mancini were both sent off in the final 16 minutes. Read More

spinach and cheese stuffed mushrooms

These two-bite stuffed mushrooms are so enticing and will be devoured so quickly when passed around at a gathering, they will shatter any notions that vegetables can’t be buzzworthy party fare.

While healthfully produce-driven, they are in a different class entirely from a yawn-inducing cut vegetable platter.
Spinach and Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms (Serves 8)

Refrigerate for up to 3 days. Serve at room temperature or reheat on a rimmed baking sheet in a 180ºC oven until warmed through.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/4 cup finely chopped shallot or onion

140g baby spinach, chopped
3 sundried tomatoes, soaked in hot water for 10 minutes, drained and finely chopped (2 tablespoons)

1/3 cup (70g) garlic-and-herb Gournay cheese, such as Boursin, at room temperature

1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

16 medium baby bella (Cremini) mushrooms (about 340g), stems removed

1 1/2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Method

Position a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 220ºC.

In a large pan over medium heat, heat the oil until shimmering. Add the shallot or onion and cook, stirring frequently, until softened, about 1 minute. Add the spinach, a few handfuls at a time, and cook, stirring until all the spinach is wilted down, 4 to 5 minutes. Stir in the sundried tomatoes and remove from the heat. Stir in the Gournay cheese and pepper until well-combined. You should have about 1 cup of filling.

Fill each mushroom cap generously with the spinach-cheese mixture (each cap should get about 1 tablespoon), piling the filling in a high mound. Place the mushrooms onto a large, rimmed baking sheet and sprinkle each with a little Parmesan cheese. Roast for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the cheese on top is nicely browned.

Serve warm or at room temperature.

Cabbage doesn’t have to be boring! Try it sautéed with bacon for a healthy and tasty accompaniment to salmon.

Each serving provides 536kcal, 41g protein, 11g carbohydrate (of which 10g sugars), 35g fat (of which 8g saturates), 8g fibre and 0.9g salt.

Ingredients
15g/1oz unsalted butter
2 small red onions, sliced
2 rashers back bacon, sliced thinly
olive oil
4 x 170g/6oz salmon steaks
salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 small savoy cabbage , core removed and shredded
For the dressing
2 tbsp grainy mustard
½ lemon, juice only
1 tsp chopped parsley
1 tbsp white wine vinegar

Method
Heat the butter in a large pan, add the onion and fry gently for five minutes.

Brush each side of the salmon with olive oil. Heat a non-stick frying pan, when hot add the salmon and leave to seal in the pan. Turn over halfway through cooking.

Add the shredded cabbage to the bacon and onions and stir. Cover with a tight fitting lid and continue to cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will ensure the cabbage will absorb the butter and retain moisture.

Combine all the dressing ingredients together in a jar with a tight-fitting lid and shake to combine thoroughly. (You can also do this in a bowl with a fork.)

At the end of cooking, season, then serve in a large bowl placing the salmon on top. Spoon the dressing around the edge.
