This fresh, crunchy noodle salad is topped with crispy chicken thighs and an irresistible peanut sauce – quick, nutritious and super easy, this is one to add to your midweek meal rotation.

Each serving provides 727 kcals, 43g protein, 70g carbohydrates (of which 9.8g sug-ars), 30g fat (of which 7.1g saturates), 4.4g fibre and 4.2g salt.

Ingredients
For the chicken
5 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
2 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp reduced salt soy sauce
1kg/2lb 4oz chicken thighs, skin-on, bones removed (approx. 675g/1lb 8oz after bones removed)
1 tbsp vegetable oil
For the noodles
300g/10½oz rice vermicelli noodles
2 tsp toasted sesame oil
2 carrots, peeled and cut into thin matchsticks
1 head lettuce, roughly torn or chopped
150g/5½oz sugar snap peas, sliced
5 spring onions, thinly sliced
small bunch mint, leaves roughly chopped
1 red chilli, thinly sliced
For the dressing
3 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
1 tbsp fish sauce
2 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp honey
1 red chilli, finely chopped
200ml/7fl oz warm water
To serve
lime wedges

Method
Start by marinating the chicken. Combine the garlic, fish sauce and soy sauce in a large bowl. Add the chicken pieces and give everything a good mix. Set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, soak the noodles following packet instructions, gently pulling them apart as they soak. Drain the noodles and toss with the sesame oil to stop them sticking together.

To cook the chicken, heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan over a low–medium heat. Add the chicken thighs (and their mariande) skin-side down, and cook for 7–8 minutes until the skin is crisp. Flip the chicken, cook for a further 3–4 minutes, then remove from the pan and transfer to a warm plate to rest. You can cut the chicken into slices to serve, or leave whole.

Drain some of the excess fat from the pan and return to the heat. Add all of the dressing ingredients and whisk together. Cook gently for 3–4 minutes until the peanut butter has melted to create a glossy sauce.

Pile the noodles onto a large serving platter, then top with the carrots, lettuce, sugar snap peas and spring onions. Lay the crispy chicken on the noodles and top with the mint, sliced chilli and peanut sauce. Serve with lime wedges.

AFCON Finals: Cape Verde beat 10 men Ethiopia 1 – 0

AFCON Finals: Cape Verde beat 10 men Ethiopia 1 – 0/ Julio Tavares fires Blue Sharks to win opening match. Striker Julio Tavares forced home a diving header after a superb cutback pass from Garry Rodrigues on the stroke of half-time at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde as the Cape Verdians joined hosts Cameroon on top of the Group A standings.

Tavares headed home the winner as Cape Verde Islands shrugged off their Covid-19 woes to beat 10-man Ethiopia 1-0 on the opening day of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Cape Verde were forced to start the match without coach Bubista, in quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus, and had just six substitutes on the bench, with a further nine players isolating, and two injured.

But Ethiopia made their task easier when defender Yared Bayeh was sent off after 10 minutes. He tripped Tavares from behind with the Cape Verde striker bearing down on goal and Angolan referee Helder Martins, having initially cautioned Bayeh, changed his mind after reviewing his decision on the pitchside VAR screen.

Ethiopia gamely fought on despite the disadvantage of being a man down, and looked to be taking a psychological boost into the break by managing to hold Cape Verde at bay, before Tavares’ brave finish from close range.

Just minutes earlier, Ethiopia had a chance to be first on the scoresheet when Abubeker Nasir intercepted a poor back pass from Irish-born Roberto Lopes but goalkeeper Marcio Rosa, winning only his third cap, was quickly off his line to smother the opportunity.

Ethiopia, who were the first team to arrive in Cameroon for the tournament a fortnight ago, are one of the few countries at the finals not hampered by Covid-19 infections.

Zim Ambassador to SA: No diplomatic tensions over immigrants. Speaking in an interview with The Sunday Mail’s Harmony Agere, Hamadziripi urged Zimbabwean nationals living in South Africa to respect the neighbouring country’s immigration laws.

Zimbabwe’s ambassador to South Africa, David Hamadziripi said that there are no diplomatic tensions between Zimbabwe and South Africa over immigrants.

This comes after South Africa’s government announced its decision to discontinue the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP), special permits that were granted to about 200 000 Zimbabweans and were renewed after every four years. Said Hamadziripi:

I am not aware of any diplomatic tensions between Zimbabwe and South Africa over immigrants. Concerning the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit, the Government of Zimbabwe has noted and acknowledged the sovereign decision taken by the South African government on that matter.

It has encouraged the concerned Zimbabweans to comply with that decision. Both Zimbabwe and South Africa seek to ensure regular and orderly migration between and into their territories, hence the clampdown on irregular migration at Beitbridge.

Hamadziripi also confirmed that South Africa has extended ZEP by another 12 months. He said: Yes, the validity of the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit has been extended to December 31, 2022.

Refer to the Minister’s (SA Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi) immigration directive. South Africa recently launched a blitz against illegal immigrants including Zimbabweans with hundreds deported in the past few days.

4 heavily-armed poachers involved in a shootout with guards at Private Game Park. Three of the poachers were arrested while a fourth managed to evade arrest and is still at large. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is investigating the incident.

Four poachers armed with AK-47 rifles were engaged in a fierce shootout with 14 guards at Eldorado Game Park in Macheke, Mashonaland East province on Friday night after killing impalas in the game reserve, reported The NewsHawks.

The poachers reportedly sneaked into the farm on Thursday night to hunt and kill wildlife. The private game park is owned by a Middle East honorary diplomat and businessman. The NewsHawks quoted a source as saying:

The poachers entered the Game Park on Thursday and the incident took place on Friday this past week. They were not ordinary poachers; they had expensive rifles and top-of-the-range guns with telescopic accessories. It’s clear they are seasoned and professional.Springboks

They had AK-47 rifles, hence they fought back, but they were outnumbered and so they had to surrender.

These poachers are not just a danger to wildlife, but also to people and communities. Police must get to the bottom of this issue so that these sorts of criminals are stopped.

AFCON Finals: Warriors ready to face Senegal although there is uncertainty

AFCON Finals: Warriors ready to face Senegal although there is uncertainty. Zimbabwe faces a possible FIFA ban after the Sports Recreation Commission (SRC), a government body, suspended the elected Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) board and ignored a 3 January ultimatum to reinstate the suspended officials.

The Warriors face Senegal tomorrow in a Group B opener at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Cameroon under a cloud of uncertainty.

The ban is yet to materialise and FIFA has said nothing in public since the deadline for the SRC to reinstate the ZIFA board elapsed.

The Zimbabwe delegation in Cameroon on Sunday told The NewsHawks that the Warriors are champing at the bit to face the Lions of Teranga. Said a member of the delegation:

Zimbabwe is going to play Senegal tomorrow. We have had meetings and arranged logistics for the match. So it’s all systems go now despite the FIFA issue. We are ready for the match and the team is in high spirits raring to go.

ZIFA acting chief executive Xolisani Gwesela concurred. He said:

We are ready for Senegal tomorrow. The boys are in good mood and we hope for positive results. All the best to the indefatigable and brave Warriors. The 2021 AFCON finals roared into life this Sunday, with hosts Cameroon emerging 2-1 victors over Burkina Faso this evening.

Burkina Faso scored in the 24th minute through Gustavo Sangara but the hosts responded by scoring twice in the first half. Vincent Aboubakar netted twice from the penalty spot (40′), (45+3′).

Self-confessed goblin seller claims he has 12 wives and 100 children

Self-confessed goblin seller claims he has 12 wives and 100 children. The 68-year-old is a self-confessed seller of goblins, and a successful businessman and farmer.

A Chitungwiza-based traditional healer, Sekuru Kafura, says he has sired 100 children and is married to 12 wives, excluding three that died in the past five years.

The Malawi-born traditional healer loves flashy, expensive cars and his garage holds 35 vehicles, among them the latest BMWs, Ford Rangers, Mercedes-Benz and commuter omnibuses.

He said his very large family consumes a beast every week and spends US$826 every week on bread alone. He said: There is nothing to be ashamed of. I sell goblins to whoever can afford them. I have been doing this since 1972 and this is not a secret.

… When it comes to goblins, we have three packages. We charge US$2 500, US$1 500 and US$500 for the three packages on offer. Unlike the typical traditional healer, Sekuru Kafura, who resides in Unit J, Chitungwiza, is a well-dressed teetotaller who does not take traditional snuff.

He told The Sunday Mail that he is currently training four of his children to become traditional healers after he is gone. He said:

They will only become fully-fledged traditional healers after I am gone. My father taught me this craft and I only started healing people long after my father had died.

I will do the same with my sons; I will not allow a situation in which I will one day compete for clients with my own children. Sekuru Kafura warned people who are reportedly using his name to defraud his clients. He said:

I am aware of people who are using my good name to rob people. My clients are being robbed in broad daylight. What I can only say is that those that are doing this must stop or face the consequences.

Police speak on armed robberies: We are on top of the situation

Police speak on armed robberies: We are on top of the situation. In an interview with State media, ZRP national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the force received all-terrain vehicles and fuel for the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Homicide Section. He said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says it is well-equipped to deal with rising armed robbery cases across the country.

We are not facing any challenges in fighting armed robberies. In fact, we are on top of the situation. As you are aware, we were given brand new all-terrain vehicles for the CID Homicide Section and also a substantial amount of fuel for operations.

We are well equipped to fight armed robberies. The police are ready to stamp out armed robberies. Asst Comm Nyathi implored members of the public and business people to follow safety measures that are being given by the police. He said:

We have conclusively established that some people are followed from work by the armed robbers because they will be having inside information.

We have also established that guards from security companies are conniving with criminals or stage-managing armed robbery cases.

These are the issues which we feel the community, particularly the business sector, should co-operate with the police to curb the armed robbery cases which we are currently recording.

People should not keep large sums of money in their houses because they become targets. Recently, two rogue soldiers shot dead a man in Hatcliff, Harare and seriously injured his relative during a US$40 000 robbery incident.

Update: Dema snake vendor to perform 106 hours of Community Service. The man, Hebert Gorimbo (38), was charged with violating the Parks and Wildlife Act after being found in possession of a cobra and a green mamba.

A man from Dema, Seke District, Mashonaland East Province, was on Thursday ordered to perform 106 hours of community service for trying to sell snakes.

He pleaded guilty when he appeared before Harare provincial magistrate Tafadzwa Miti, who sentenced him to three months in prison.

However, Miti wholly suspended the three months imprisonment on the condition he performed the community service, starting on 10 January.

According to the State outline, on 5 January 2022, detectives from the CID Flora and Fauna section received information that Gorimbo was in possession of snakes that he intended to sell.

One of the detectives allegedly contacted Gorimbo on his mobile number pretending to be a potential buyer. The “buyer” and Gorimbo agreed to meet in Chitungwiza where they would finalise the deal. Gorimbo, who was in the company of one Desire Matambanadzo, emerged from the car to meet the purported buyers.

The team of detectives, who had gathered at Chitungwiza Town Centre for 30 minutes waiting for Gorimbo, agreed to buy the snakes for US$100 each and proceeded to Gorimbo’s car for viewing.

Gorimbo had stashed the black knotted cobra in white socks and placed it in the dashboard of his car, while the green mamba was in the glove compartment.

After viewing the reptiles, the detectives asked Gorimbo to produce a licence allowing him to possess the snakes. He failed to do so and was promptly arrested. Polite Chikiwa prosecuted.

Rapper and actor Jesse Suntele has made it known he is smitten with publicist Thuthu Maqhosha. In a recent episode of Defining Love, Jesse gushed over his relationship with his bae, saying he had finally come to understand what love is.

“When you come over to somebody’s house for one reason, the kiss is just going to be foreplay. That’s how it’s supposed to be, but when you end up taking the whole night before that happens I think it changed the reason I came over,” Jesse said. He said he first spotted his partner at the gym and started communicating via DMs on social media. Although the actor admits to having ulterior motives, Jesse said he was captured by Thuthu’s tenacity among other things.

“I’ve learnt two things about this relationship over the past three years. One, if your relationships don’t have challenges, you’re in trouble.

“The second thing I’ve learnt through her is that I don’t think I knew, in all my past relationships, what love really was. And this is no offence to all my exes or anything like that, but this is it. Jesse never ceases to publicly make his love known for his girlfriend.

Somebody help me in telling this person how much I love her!” he wrote in an Instagram post. Gushing over her beau on their relationship anniversary, Thuthu said she felt the actor had made her believe in love again.

“Thank you for making me believe in love again. For making it so comfortable to fall hard. You are the man I prayed for and I pray God strengthens our union even more. In a tricky life I found peace with you. I love you Baba,” she wrote.

Harare City Council takes back Mbare Musika toilets. The Harare City Council (HCC) has re-opened Mbare Musika to the public to use free of charge after they had been privatised by criminal syndicates.

Harare Mayor Councillor Steward Mtizwa told ZBC News that all those who had converted public toilets into pay facilities are extortionists who face arrest.

Mtizwa said all toilets at Mbare Musika and in the central business district (CBD) are free except for one underground toilet at First Street which is a pay toilet. Said Mtizwa:

I want to make it clear that all toilets at Mbare are public and those in the CBD except for one underground toilet at First Street is a pay toilet.

Council has no agreement or any sort of swith those who claim that they have leases to privatise public toilets. All those who were involved will face arrest as they are extorting people.

This comes as reports suggest that several council-owned properties have either been privatised or converted to personal use by individuals, thereby prejudicing the local authority of millions of dollars in potential revenue.

In a trending video, the leader and founder of God’s Way International Church was at the Kumasi branch of his church attending to some of the congregation who have lined up. The members were holding pictures of their relatives as been instructed by Angel Obinim.

As he addressed them, he kept saying they should bring pictures of the wealthy family members and he will work on them. He mentioned that members of the Kumasi church aren’t serious like the ones in Accra who he once claimed billions of monies for.

After their much-publicised physical altercation last year, Real Housewives of Johannesburg stars Brinnette Seopela and Gugu Khathi will not be part of season three of the hit reality TV show when it returns this year.

The publication has learnt that another cast member from season one, Christall Kay, was not approached to feature in the new season and that she only discovered on Friday that new individuals had been approached to join the show.

While Seopela confirmed that she would not be in season three for personal reasons, Kay said she had been unaware that the new season would be aired this year and was shocked that other cast members had already been approached.

I don’t know anything about the new season. I only attended two pre-production meetings with different production houses about my role in it last year. I wasn’t aware that they were busy with the new season.

Khathi, who is married to record label boss DJ Tira, declined to comment, stating only that she did not want anything to do with the show.

The Johannesburg version of the international hit show was supposed to return for season three last year, featuring Khathi and other new cast members. However, a physical altercation at a popular lounge in Pretoria – where filming was taking place – between her, Seopela, and Kay led to the show being canned while production was still under way.

The fight left Kay with a blue eye and bruises on her face. The three women later opened cases of assault against each other, which are still pending.

At the time, M-Net’s channel director for local entertainment channels, Nomsa Philiso, confirmed the discontinuation of the show due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

On Friday, she announced that a new season of the popular show would be screened on Mzansi Magic this year.

She revealed that details of the release date for the premiere of the new season would be made public at the end of next month.

The production hasn’t yet started and we’ll be able to give out details as soon as we’ve finalized some things as a company. M-Net’s director for local entertainment channels Nomsa Philiso.

Sources close to the series, which is produced by Sonia Mbele Films, revealed that the fight between the three cast members almost cost the production house’s owner, Sonia Sedibe, the show.

The altercation and its attendant publicity led to M-Net allegedly reviewing its contract with Sedibe and looking at other production houses to do the show instead.

Sedibe declined to comment on the matter and referred all questions to Philiso, who said Sedibe would still be part of the show, even though nothing had been finalized yet.

It is also understood that, with the departure of Seopela, Khathi and the possible exit of Kay, new additions to the show include newly-wed and reality TV show Madam and Mercy star Natalie Hlala and businessperson Terisa Hsu-Lee. Another woman who was considered to be a member of the cast in the new season is former minister of finance Malusi Gigaba’s ex-wife Norma Mngoma.

Hsu-Lee declined to comment on her possible inclusion in the show: “I’m not going to say. I can’t.”

Mngoma said she had been approached to join the show, but had turned down the offer.

“They came to ask me, but I declined. They also approached me to be in the first season, but I declined then as well,” she said.

Old cast members who will be returning for season three include Lethabo Lejoy Mathatho and Lebo Gunguluza.

Rapper AKA and his ex and baby mama DJ Zinhle have been a topic of a lot of conversation recently, because of their blended family situation. Now, as the rapper dishes on how he and Zinhle first met, Mzansi is conflicted about his revelations.
A clip recently emerged online of Kiernan in an interview in which he dished on the details of how he and his ex met. He said they first met at a gig they were both playing, but it was not the first time they spoke.

He further revealed that Zinhle had slid in his DMs first, when she saw that they were both booked for the same event. She made her case, saying she would love to do a song with him, but he did not buy her reasons.

They finally met, but she did not let him “hit” on the first day. But he was proud of himself for getting her eventually, which gave the audience quite the chuckle.
The clip was shared on social media, stirring up a lot of controversy. The first red flag, as fans noticed, was that AKA’s version of the story apparently differed vastly from Zinhle’
According to Zinhle, they met at a show in Botswana, after she had DM’ed him first, which aligns with AKA’s version. She agreed that she asked for the song, but they ended up having a baby instead. And yeah, Kiernan still owes her a song, as she said.

Zinhle, though, said that they definitely kissed on the first day. They met on a Saturday, and by Sunday evening they were an official couple. I guess when you know you just know.
