A verbal fight broke out between Makhadzi and an event organizer, Sammy Mashita. At the heart of their fight is a booking fee for Makhadzi.

She was booked to perform at an annual event, Marula Festival.

The event took place in Phalaborwa on Saturday, 9 April, and Master KG, King Monada and Makhadzi were the headliners of the event.

Makhadzi told the publication that she was not even informed about the event.

“I was supposed to be in the US at the Kids Choice Awards but I decided to cancel them for this event, mainly because it was a home event. Also, I’ve always performed at this event and I’d never experienced any issues. But this time around I was wrong and the event organizer, Sammy, did not even check my availability. He did not even seek permission to put my face on the poster. Out of love and respect for my fans and province, I did not question him about this,” said Makhadzi.

She said things started getting ugly when she arrived at the event.

“The service provider refused to pay the full amount. He was offering close to nothing compared to my quote. Eventually, he rudely told me to take it or leave it. I stood my ground and refused to be exploited by him. As a result, I posted on Facebook and informed my fans about my plight,” she explained.

On her Facebook page, she wrote: “To all my fans who bought tickets for the Marula Festival in Phalaborwa, it’s sad that I won’t perform. This is because of the service provider. He is refusing to give me my balance. I’m sorry to all my fans.”

Makhadzi’s Facebook post did not sit well with her fans, some of them threatened to pull out of the festival.

Eventually, Sammy and Makhadzi reached an agreement and she performed.

Last week, the publication reported that Limpopo artists won’t be performing for peanuts.

The publication contacted Sammy but he didn’t answer his phone. He also failed to respond to text messages sent to him.

The helicopter that carried comedienne Mai TT to her wedding venue in Chisipite, Harare over the weekend went down in Mhondoro.

The helicopter, reportedly crashed on Sunday near Chibhero College in Mhondoro. The pilot was alone when the plane crashed. He died on spot.
Just this morning people called me saying your pilot crashed and passed away soon after dropping me, I’m thinking it’s just false rumours. I’m calling the owner of the Helicopters I booked from he confirmed it’s true he crashed and died the next day on Sunday as he was coming from picking up another client. I don’t know him I just booked for Chikopokopo services and when I went on board he opened the door for me saluted and said I’m honoured to be taking you to your big day. Becky called at the same time and said can you delay coming to the venue by 20 minutes? He said no ma’am, I got to take you now because a dark cloud is coming was this the dark cloud he meant? I’m traumatized right now.

The helicopter crashed on Sunday, reportedly near Chibhero College in Mhondoro. The pilot was alone when the plane crashed.

According to an online publication, the pilot has been identified as Captain Peter Chirimuuta. He was a SACAA Licenced Commercial Helicopter R44 and AB412 Pilot.

Chirimuuta was reportedly a former Squadron Commander and Military Pilot at the Airforce of Zimbabwe and was involved in many disaster rescue operations in the country.

AFZ public relations officer, Simon Matingwina has since confirmed the crash but said the helicopter was not theirs.

I know about the crash, but it was not our helicopter. I think Mhondoro police attended the scene.

Our scientists have been investigating new corona virus mutations detected in Botswana,” said Dr Christopher Nyanga, Permanent Secretary from the Botswana Health Ministry.

Dr Nyanag said that on further analysis and verification, the mutations, which had been detected in four people in Botswana, had been noted as a new sub lineage of the Omicron variant. The preliminary finding of this new sub lineage in Botswana has been designated as Omicron BA.4 and BA.5.

“The four cases are currently being monitored to gather more information about the potential impact on disease spread and severity.”

The quartet are fully vaccinated and have been experiencing only mild symptoms. The same new sub lineage has also been reported in three other countries.

The ministry said it was collaborating with other stakeholders, including regional and international bodies, and was studying the properties and characteristics of the Omicron sub lineage in order to gain more data and knowledge about its behaviour.

No conclusions had been drawn regarding whether the sub lineage was deadlier and more transmissible than the known Omicron variant. Similarly, investigations on whether Covid-19 vaccines were effective against this sublineage are ongoing. The ministry added that it awaited further guidance from the World Health Organization on how to manage its transmission.

It called on members of the public not to panic but to continue being vigilant. The public is further encouraged to vaccinate and take their booster shots, if eligible.

A man killed a lion with his own hands before skinning and cooking it for dinner, it is claimed.

Shocking photos show the aftermath of an intense wrestling match to the death between a man and lion in Uganda after the big cat entered his home, locals claim.

The unnamed lion killer has been pictured topless and looking seriously worse for wear with blood seeping through his multiple bandages.

His injuries have not been reported but the graphic photo shows a dislodged eye patch and scratches all over his body which will probably last as a reminder of the brutal battle for quite some time.

Twitter user Ricky Kagino wrote on Friday: “A man from CMS lganga district eastern Uganda is nursing wounds after fighting a lion he met near his home and killed it.”

The location of the terrifying scrap has been disputed online as some sources claim it in fact happened at the Mpefu Kagadi district.

Another social media user, Tewsige Judith commented on Ricky’s tweet with more photos including one of the lion skinned.

She said: “My dear it was in Mpefu Kagadi district and we ate it.”

With little more information provided on what exactly happened, people have debated whether the man was right to kill a lion.

One person commented: “I say its fair, lions eat humans… why don’t humans return the favor? Plus I’m pretty sure the man wouldn’t attack the lion first, so he killed her lion out of self-defense.

“Y’all saying he did wrong are just being hypocritical.

It’s been exactly 365 days since the beautiful Anele Tembe lost her life and those close to her are hurt. Anele Tembe was AKA’s fiancée who died after allegedly jumping off from a Cape Town hotel on April 10.

Taking to social media, AKA’s mother Lynn Forbes shared a few words as she remembers Anele. She described this period as the most difficult of them all and said although time heals everything, their scars shall remain.

“May your soul rest peacefully Nelz. It’s been the most difficult year, time heals but the scars will remain forever.”

She also thought of her son AKA, saying she wishes she could take away his pin, “I wish I could take your pain away Kiernan. I continue to pray for peace and the healing of both families. Her sister Pali Tembe as well said a few words, “Just when you feel like you’ve started healing,” and then added 365 days and a heart emoji.

A few months after her death, Pali said she dreamt about her, “I dreamt about you my angel…5 months without you and it sucks,” she wrote on her deleted post, as quoted by TshisaLive.

One person who is also deeply hurt as her death happened in his care, is AKA. Earlier this morning he shared a few words saying he prays that her family and friends heal from this. He also hinted that they should all come together as two families who loved Anele, and pay their respects.

“I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life. 11/04/2021. Everyday I pray for the healing of your family and my family. I hope one day we can all come together and pay our respects to you and your memory at the same place and at the same time,” he tweeted.

AKA has received a lot of love and hate from people before and he has always acknowledged the love. He once thanked the people who stuck by him as well.

“4 months to this day. It never goes away. Everyday I pray for her, myself and our families. I will never be the same person I was, but I will do the best I can with the gift and opportunity of life that I still have left, [sic]. Thank You to everyone who has stuck by me and our respective families…you know who you are.”

AKA has since moved on with his new girlfriend Nadia Nakai and they seem to be hitting it off quiet well. Ntsiki though did not like this one bit especially after AKA flaunted their love for everyone to see. She questioned why the Tembe family said she did not commit suicide and why did they walk behind the Forbes family.

“At the funeral, Nelli’s siblings had to walk BEHIND the Forbes family. Barely six months had passed and how quickly their little sister was replaced…After they couldn’t walk beside her coffin. This is so deeply disturbing for me.”

The rate of school pregnancies during the just ended Covid 19 lockdown period is shocking with at least five schools getting an average of 20 pregnant girls each. The report is for the 2021 and 2022 lockdown periods.

Zvishavane District AIDS Coordinator, Dennis Jaravani told a stakeholders meeting held at White hospital nurse’s boardroom two weeks ago that Mabasa Secondary under Chief Masunda recorded the highest number of pre_gnancies with 23 dropping out of school.

Dambudzo Secondary School under Chief Mapanzure sits at number two with 22 pregnant pupils.

Chivizina High school under Chief Mazvihwa had 20 girls and is number 3; number 4 is Chenhunguru Secondary School under Chief Masunda with 18 girls and on number 5 are two schools, Ngomeyebani Secondary School under Chief Masunda and Korogwe under Chief Mupakami which are both tied at 17 pregnancies.

On number 7 is Rubweruchena under Chief Mazvihwa which had 16 pregnant pupils and Mandava High in Zvishavane Urban reported 14 pregnancies. Zvishavane High had the least with only 2 pupils getting pregnant.

A Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education report in the hands of The Mirror says there was a total of 231 teenager pregnancies in Zvishavane District and the majority are from rural schools.

“Teenage pr_egnancies is one of the key challenges we faced during the period under review and there is need to engage the Ministry of Education for a programme to avert such in future “, he said.

Zimbabwe National Network for People Living with HIV (ZNNPt) focal person Tracy Manjengwa said there is need to educate the girl child on pregnancies.

“Girls are having sex to prove to their partners that they love them. They are also having s.e.x for material things. They should be taught that love is not all about s.e.x “, she said. Masvngo Mirror

Police in Shurugwi have launched a manhunt for one Hardlife Mudzingwa who allegedly fatally stabbed his friend following a misunderstanding over a woman.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Midlands Province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Mudzingwa stabbed Blessing Mxotshwa who was his friend after he discovered that they were dating the same woman. Said Insp Mahoko:

Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case of murder where a man was stabbed to death over a girlfriend in Shurugwi.

Hardlife Mudzingwa, aged 30, and Blessing Mxotshwa, aged 30, of Village 14 Tokwe 3 Valley, Shurugwi, were friends.

Hardlife, the suspect, in this case, discovered that they were in love with the same woman, aged 24.

Insp Mahoko said on Friday last week at around 7.50 PM, Mudzingwa allegedly visited his girlfriend at her home and she refused to open the door for him. Added Insp Mahoko:

This did not go down well with the suspect who forcibly gained entry, through a broken dining room window, and discovered that she was with Blessing Mxotshwa.

An argument arose between the suspect and Blessing Mxotshwa.

The suspect produced a knife and stabbed Blessing Mxotshwa once in the neck and fled the scene.

NEW details have emerged of how Procter Saurombe, a 43-year-old cricket coach was killed mafia style before his body was hanged at the gate of his home in Glen Norah, Harare last week.

Multiple sources, who spoke to NewsDay yesterday, including family members and fellow imbibers, said Saurombe had an altercation with unidentified people at Gazebo Night Club at Spaceman Shopping Centre in Glen Norah hours before his death.

Saurombe, who had great passion for cricket, was coaching the under-14 team at Prince Edward School.

Saurombe’s sister, Pamela Chidemo said the family was still in shock and was trying to come to terms with the chilling incident.

Chidemo said post-mortem results showed that he died from unnatural causes.

“We heard that he had an argument with unidentified people at the bar. We have heard several theories on the nature of the argument, but we don’t want to divulge them because we feel that we are no longer safe,” she said.

“We found him with a deep cut on his thigh. He was also frothing to show that he died from strangulation. We believe they killed him before hanging his lifeless body on the gate to stage-manage his death.”

The family said the cricket coach’s death was not a robbery gone bad because all his belongings were intact except for his mobile phone.

“The police found his keys and money in the pockets. He was a very sane person who would not try to jump a gate with spikes when he had keys,” Chidemo said.

A neighbour, who refused to be named, said on the fateful night, he saw a Honda Fit vehicle parked at Saurombe’s residence.

“There was a silver Honda Fit parked at the gate. The vehicle parked for some minutes before it vanished with its lights off. If he truly died from injuries sustained while trying to jump the gate, it is natural that we would have heard his cries for help since he had a deep cut on the thigh,” the neighbour said.

A reveller at the bar said Saurombe had an argument with some patrons.

“He exchanged harsh words with three people. One of the people said ‘I want your blood tonight’. The faces of the people were unfamiliar in the area,” the reveller said.

The late cricket coach was single and had no children. According to his friends, Saurombe had great passion for cricket and he was coaching the under-14 team at Prince Edward School.

Zimbabwe Cricket described Saurombe’s death as a loss to the sport.

“One of the brightest prospects to emerge in school cricket in the 1990s, Saurombe went on to make immense contributions to the sport as a club cricketer, development coach and umpire.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he was not able to speak on the issue.

Senior Rural District Council (RDC) executives drawn from the country’s 59 administrative districts spent more than $10 million at a two-day workshop in Bulawayo.

The meeting called the Inaugural Rural District Council’s Planners Forum and Spatial Planning Conference was organised by the Association of Rural District Councils.

It was held on April 6 and 7, and delegates checked in at a hotel in Bulawayo on April 5.

The conference was organised by Netsai Makoni and Stableck Savere.

Each RDC sent two officials and paid $180 000 for each executive on full board, or $60 000 for those that were not on full board.

A letter dated 10 March 2022 signed by one Dr Matsilele, the convener of the conference read:

Full board conference package which includes free accommodation on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis, hall usage, facilitators fees (travel and accommodation), public address system, lunch and drink, conference room stationery, projector, welcome tea, morning and afternoon teas, cordials, conference apparel and networking dinner is $180 000 per delegate while conference with own stationery, projector, welcome tea, morning and afternoon conferencing teas, cordials, conference apparel and networking dinner is $60 000 per delegate.

POLICE have arrested three suspects for unlawful possession of two live pangolins.

According to the Parks and Wildlife Act, it is an offence to hunt any animal without a permit with pangolins among the specially protected animals

Lovemore Dheya, Justice Faya and Pinias Chauke were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department Minerals, Flora and Fauna Unit.

In a statement, police national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said detectives in Chipinge were tipped the three accused were in Chibuwe in possession of a live pangolin which they intended to sell at a business centre in the area.

“Acting on the information, police quickly reacted to the call and mounted a roadblock, together with the Chipinge Safari crew,” he said. “They searched all vehicles which passed through the roadblock and they recovered two live pangolins from one of the vehicles, leading to the arrest of the three.

“The pangolins were in a 20-litre container that was stashed in a sack in the boot of the motor vehicle.”

Police in Harare recorded the death of an elderly man who was bitten to death by dogs.

Ass Comm Nyathi said the 70-year-old man died in hospital.

“ZRP Waterfalls recorded a case where a man (70) was severely bitten by three vicious dogs at his workplace in Adbennie in the morning,” he said.

“The victim was taken to Harare Hospital where he later succumbed to the injuries at about 5pm the same day.”

AN Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) helicopter reportedly crashed yesterday near Chibhero College in Mhondoro, but police and army officials were coy on details about its passengers and possible casualties.

Impeccable sources told NewsDay that the crash occurred yesterday afternoon near Chibhero College in Mhondoro.

Police sources also confirmed the crash, which saw top officials attending the crash site.

Military and police details also cordoned off the site, making it inaccessible.

The sources said the crash took place in the area where a helicopter carrying President Emmerson Mnangagwa was forced to crash land after developing a technical fault while he was returning to the capital from his Precabe Farm in Kwekwe.

“The crash was in the same area where Mnangagwa’s helicopter almost crashed,” the source said.

“The road leading to the accident scene was cordoned off, and no one was allowed there. We are not yet aware who was involved in the accident, and if there were any casualties.”

Zimbabwe National Army spokesperson Colonel Alphios Makotore said he could not comment on the matter.

“I am not in the air force, I am in the army,” he curtly said yesterday.

AFZ public relations officer, Simon Matingwina yesterday acknowledged the crash but said it was not an air force helicopter.

“I know about the crash, but it’s not our helicopter. I think Mhondoro police attended the scene,” he said last night.

Efforts to get a comment from police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi were fruitless as he was not picking up calls.

This is not the first time that an air force chopper has crashed in the country.

Last April, an AFZ helicopter — Agusta Bell AB 412 — crashed in a farming area in Arcturus, 30km east of the capital killing three crew members and a child as it came down on a house.

Two months later, another chopper, an Mi-35 helicopter gunship, with five aircraft technicians on board crash-landed near oil expresser Surface Wilmar in Chitungwiza.
