Heavy K responds to ex-girlfriend

Mzansi musician Heavy K seemingly stays in relationship drama. The self-proclaimed drum boss has once again found himself defending his character online after his ex Nicole Maleka shared some insight into why the two of them didn’t work out as a couple.

Nicole, who joined YouTuber Lelo for a Q&A session, shared that Heavy K was too controlling – something he definitely does not think is true.

South African influencer Nicole Malenga joined fellow influencer @KweenLelo to do a YouTube question and answer game called Sip or Spill.

One of the questions was why she and Heavy K parted ways not so long ago. According to Nicole, she loved going out and he didn’t like it and this obviously caused problems. She also made a blunder by saying that the two of them “didn’t clash”.

Me and Heavy K separated because he wasn’t a good guy for me. He is very controlling, and I am outgoing, so we didn’t clash,” she said.

Heavy K, who heard what Nicole had to say, couldn’t help but make fun of the way she used the word clash. Responding to her comment on 11 April this week, he said:

“Yaz, I’m one guy who minds his own business no matter what simply because I don’t wanna “clash” with anyone but still catching stray bullets, ay kunzima.”

@MrKnockout88 said: “That’s the results of dating slay queens, next time choose better even after the breakup u won’t deal with such embarrassment. I’m still proud of my exes”

@mfana0122 said: “That’s why some of us don’t go for looks, they can be deceiving… R4K weave on an empty head 💔💔😢

UK Minister quits over breaking lockdown rules

A Conservative peer has resigned as a justice minister over Covid law-breaking in Downing Street.

It comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak were fined for attending a party in No 10 during lockdown.

In a letter to Mr Johnson, Lord David Wolfson criticised the “official response” to “repeated rule-breaking”.

He is the first person to quit the government since reports of lockdown parties emerged.

Barrister Lord Wolfson has been a justice minister since December 2020, with responsibility for human rights and the constitution.

Following Lord Wolfson’s resignation Justice Secretary Dominic Raab described him as a “world-class lawyer” and said he would be “sorely missed” in government.

In his resignation letter, Lord Wolfson said the “scale, context and nature” of Covid breaches in government was inconsistent with the rule of law.

He added that he had “no option” other than to resign, given his “ministerial and professional obligations” in this area.

“It is not just a question of what happened in Downing Street, or your own conduct,” he wrote to the PM. “It is also, and perhaps more so, the official response to what took place.”

Opposition parties have said Mr Johnson and Mr Sunak must quit after being fined for attending the event in June 2020.

The fine meant Mr Johnson became the UK’s first serving prime minister to be sanctioned for an offence under criminal law.

But he and Mr Sunak have rejected calls to resign, instead insisting they wanted to get on with their jobs.

Cabinet ministers have backed the pair, while two Conservative MPs have publicly called for Mr Johnson to stand down.

Conservative MP Nigel Mills was the first to do so, saying it was “unacceptable” that Mr Johnson had broken rules which he himself had set during the pandemic.

And Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker called for the prime minister and chancellor to “do the right thing and resign” during a Facebook Q&A with his constituents, saying “you can’t set the law of the lands and then break them as they have”.

But he said he would not be putting in a letter to the chairman of the 1922 Committee of backbench Tory MPs, which would trigger a leadership vote once 54 letters are reached, saying he wanted the government to focus on issues such as the war in Ukraine and cost of living crisis.

There hasn’t been much public criticism of Boris Johnson from his own side since the police fined him for breaking Covid rules.

But the resignation of Lord Wolfson reflects private concerns that some have.

Two ministers have told me they do want the prime minister to resign, but they know there’s no appetite among Conservative MPs at the moment to move against him.

More fines could change that dynamic.

Former Justice Secretary David Gauke said he was “not surprised” at Lord Wolfson’s resignation.

“I think it’s a particularly uncomfortable issue for anybody in the Ministry of Justice or for that matter the law officers,” he told BBC Radio 4’s PM programme.

In a tweet, Labour’s shadow justice secretary Steve Reed praised Lord Wolfson “for taking a principled stand”.

He asked what this meant for Justice Secretary Dominic Raab, “who’s constitutionally charged with upholding the law but is instead condoning law-breaking”.

Mr Raab was among the cabinet ministers to have publicly backed Mr Johnson and Mr Sunak.

Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Wera Hobhouse said Lord Wolfson’s resignation showed that voters had “had enough of Boris Johnson acting as though he is above the law”.

“Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak should both go, so we can focus on what really matters – giving families the support they need to weather the cost of living crisis,” she said.

Tanzania has been marking 100 years since the birth of its founding father, the late Julius Nyerere.

Events have been held at his ancestral village of Butiama, where he was laid to rest two decades ago.

Some of those who attended described him as a humble man who always frowned on corruption.

He is also remembered for his ability to unify Tanzanians from all social and cultural backgrounds, and making Swahili the country’s official language.

During the commemorations, Emmanuel Kiondo, director of Nyerere Museum in Butiama, said they were introducing new elements into the school curriculum so students could learn more about Nyerere.

We all feel it, the loss and heaviness that has rocked Mzansi in the past few years is a lot to deal with. Both the music and the entertainment industries have been affected in such a huge way and experienced massive losses. In addition to dealing with the reality of a worldwide pandemic, we have had to deal with the loss of both livelihoods and loved ones.

Along the way, we have lost some of our most loved Mzansi celebs and therefore this article will highlight and honor South African celebrities who died in 2020.

Joseph Shabalala

Joseph Shabalala

Joseph Shabalala, the singer and founder of the Grammy award-winning choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo died on the 11th of February and became the first name on the list of South African celebrities who died in 2020. The musician worked hard to propel Ladysmith Black Mambazo to worldwide fame and worked with collaborators such as Paul Simon on the album Graceland. The group has won a total of five Grammy’s and his death was mourned by the music fraternity across the nation.

Mary Twala

Mary Twala

With a career spanning over 60 years, Mary Kuksie Twala joined the list of South African celebrities that died in 2020 when she lost her battle against COVID-19 on the 4th of July. The veteran actress was the mother of one of Mzansi’s fav personalities Somizi Mhlongo. Although she was loved and respected across the world, her funeral ceremony only had 50 family and friends in attendance due to the covid restrictions at the time.

Mary Twala had a heavy belt of accomplishments to her name such as receiving the South Africa Order of Ikhamanga Silver Award for her contribution to the arts industry and working with international sensation Beyonce.

Bob Mabena

Bob Mabena

Broadcasting legend Bob Mabena joined the list of South African celebrities who died in 2020 when he suffered a cardiac arrest in August of the same year. Mabena began his career in broadcasting back in 1989 and worked for several media outlets such as Metro FM, Heart FM, 947, and SABC.

The radio presenter mentored and paved the way for some of our fav radio personalities and his sudden demise sent shock waves across the industry. Bob left behind two children from his marriages and an alleged 6 from past lovers.

Mshoza

Nomasonto Maswanganyi who was better known by her stage alias Mshoza is another name on the list of South African celebrities who died in 2020. The kwaito godmother has been a household name since she broke into the industry at only 15 years old. In addition to being an extremely talented musician, Mshoza was also a dancer, and motivational speaker and tried her hand at acting.

Fondly known in the industry as the kwaito godmother, Mshoza, unfortunately, died in November 2020 after succumbing to complications from diabetes.

Although these are the five we have highlighted, there were many other celebs who died in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Mzanzi lost legends such as award-winning actor and producer Shona Ferguson, anti-Apartheid activist and South Africa’s ‘moral compass’, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, hip hop legend Riky Rick, Amapiano sensations Mpura and Killa Kau and Sindi Buthelezi, Tsha Tsha star Noxolo Maqashalala, Real Housewives Of Johannesburg star Naledi Willers gospel musician Israel Mosehlaand the fabulous Shaleen Surtie-Richards, DJ Dimples and many more. Atletico Madrid 0 – 0 Manchester City (0 – 1)

$

Manchester City produced a mature and disciplined performance to hold off the challenge of Atletico Madrid – and set up a Champions League semi-final showdown with the Spanish side’s city rivals Real.

Knowing a clean sheet would be enough to seal the tie, City kept their cool in the face of a hostile home crowd and intimidation from a physical Atleti side showing far more ambition than in the first leg.

Ilkay Gundogan could have made life much easier for Pep Guardiola’s men by slotting in from close range, instead of against the post in the first half.

But in the face of much-increased pressure and a home side pushing desperately for parity, City put up a resolute rearguard action to confirm their progression to the last four.

Atletico ended the contest with 10 men when defender Felipe was shown a second yellow card for a dangerous follow-through on Phil Foden, having received his first for an arm that drew blood from the England international’s head.

Real Madrid, who edged past Chelsea in a thrilling quarter-final tie on Tuesday, now stand between City and a second successive appearance in the final of Europe’s premier club competition.

Having lost to Thomas Tuchel’s Blues in last season’s final, Guardiola’s side are seeking a maiden Champions League title in a campaign where they are still challenging on three fronts.

They lead the Premier League by one point from second-placed Liverpool – and face Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in an FA Cup semi-final this Saturday.

Liverpool advance to Champions League semi-finals

$

Liverpool remain on course for an historic quadruple after a thrilling draw with Benfica secured a two-legged Champions League semi-final against Villarreal.

Having established a 3-1 lead in Lisbon, Liverpool extended their advantage with Ibrahima Konate’s powerful 21st-minute header from a Kostas Tsimikas corner.

Benfica equalised through Goncalo Ramos’ excellent turn and finish, before Roberto Firmino’s two second-half goals – a tap-in followed by a volley – in front of the Kop looked to have put the Reds in control.

But after Roman Yaremchuk broke through to beat Alisson and make it 3-2 on the night, Darwin Nunez scored a late equaliser.

Nunez was then denied by Alisson as Benfica finished strongly but Liverpool held out to advance 6-4 on aggregate.

They now host Villarreal – the club they beat in the semi-finals of the Europa League in 2016 – on 27 April before travelling to Spain for the second leg on 4 May.

The games are coming thick and fast for Liverpool at the business end of the campaign, with a huge FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City up next on Saturday – the second meeting between the Premier League’s top two in a week.

They head for Wembley knowing they are one round away from a third Champions League final in five seasons under Jurgen Klopp.

The Liverpool boss made seven changes to the side that started the first leg in Portugal last week, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane among those who started on the bench.

There was a return for James Milner who, at the age of 36, became the oldest Englishman to start a Champions League match since 37-year-old David Beckham did so for Paris St-Germain in 2012-13.

The Reds were made to work hard for their place in the semi-finals as Benfica came out fighting but the damage was done in the first leg.

After Saturday, Liverpool – who trail leaders Manchester City by a single point – have a chance to return to the top of the Premier League, for 24 hours at least, when they host Manchester United in the Premier League the following Tuesday.

It will require a monumental effort for Liverpool, who won the Carabao Cup in February, to finish the season with four trophies and they will certainly have to defend better than they did in this game.

But with just a few weeks of the season left, they remain in the hunt for what would be an incredible feat.

Mealie Meal Price Up By 52 Percent

$

The Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) has increased the price of a 10kg bag of roller meal by 52 per cent and the price of a tonne of wheat bread flour has been hiked by 32 per cent.

In a statement, GMAZ chairman Tafadzwa Musarara said the price increases came after the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) increased the price of maize and wheat. Reads the statement:

With effect from Monday 11 April 2022, the price of grain from Grain Marketing Board (GMB) to Millers went up.

Commercial white maize price increased by 50% to ZWD75,000 per metric tonne from ZWD 50,000 per metric tonne.

Wheat rose by 17.8% to ZWD 66,000.00 per metric tonne from ZWD56,000 per metric ton.

These increments are substantial and millers cannot absorb them. At its urgent virtual meeting on yesterday, the GMAZ Secretariat reported the following price movements;

a) 10 kg Roller Meal to increase by 52% to ZWD1, 665.00 from ZWD1,099.00

b) 1 tone of Wheat Bread flour to increase by 31% to ZWD 215,000 from ZWD 164,523 per metric tonne

These price increments are with immediate effect. However, individual millers and wholesale/retailers are free to negotiate price discounts.

The costs of packaging, labour, transport, electricity and imported wheat continue to militate against price stabilization efforts.

We assure the consuming public that our scientific computation model remains reasonable and justified and we have been restrained in our cost accumulation.

The milling industry remains most indebted to the Ministries of Agriculture, Finance and Industry for the ongoing engagements which are aimed at achieving affordability and availability of our products.

The subsisting global food inflation crisis is causing serious headwinds, and Zimbabwe is not spared.

Similar price increases in Maize Meal and Bread flour are also being experienced in other regional countries such as Botswana, South Africa et al.

Bashed Harare Small house lets cat out of the bag

A LOCAL businessman’s small house says she is enduring physical and emotional abuse from her married lover who reportedly threatens to withdraw his support should she raise the issue with anyone.

Monica Gadu (30) and Ndabazingi Shava (43) have a one-year-old child.

Monica has now posted their photographs, and that of their one-year-old baby, to the inbox of Shava’s wife, Eurita.

She was protesting over unpaid rentals and lack of support.

Monica told a local publication Shava has allegedly been assaulting her for some time, whenever she asks for financial support, accusing her of cheating.

Shava confirmed his differences with Monica, claiming she has been unfaithful to him.

However, he denied assaulting her.

“Ndewangu mukadzi wemusikanzwa uyo asi zvaarikutaura ndezvekunyepa nekuti ndakatobhadhara mari yerent ye mwedzi miviri,” said Shava.

“There are some issues behind her claim of lack of support which she does not want to tell.

“She has not been faithful and I never assaulted her as alleged, but she is hiding the real issues.

“I do not have one house in Harare, for her to struggle for accommodation, even her Greendale rented house is paid up.

“She is after fighting me because she sent some photographs of me with her and the child to my wife’s Facebook account, exposing me, and I do not know why she is doing this.

“I am in South Africa right now, but I did all the rental payments.”

Monica described Shava as abusive.

“It is better for me to suffer with my child than to continue living in silence while being physically and emotionally abused by Shava,” said Monica.

“I have approached the police several times about being assaulted, but the cases die because of threats that I would lose financial support.

“Ndofa nekurohwa nekuda mari here yandinopihwa nemuseredzero asi ini ndakabereka mwana naye?

“My landlady always demands her rentals 10 days after month-end and when Shava pays, I also pay the price of being assaulted and being accused of cheating him.

“I never cheated him.

“I have some photographs of my buttocks and face bruised and he warns me about taking the matter to law enforcement agencies, or anyone in authority, and threatens to kill me.

“For how long will I live and die silently for the sake of money and a marriage which he does not want to introduce to his legal wife? It is true that I posted some photographs and messages between me and him to his wife Eurita for her to understand my plight.”

SA murder victim Elvis Nyathi gets State assisted funeral

President Mnangagwa has accorded a State-assisted funeral to Elvis Nyathi, the Zimbabwean man who was brutally killed in Diepsloot, South Africa, last week.

Nyathi (43), who is originally from Chief Malaba’s area under Matobo District, was stoned and then burnt to death, with hands tied to his back, by a vigilante group claiming to be fighting crime committed by foreigners in South Africa.

In a statement last night, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, confirmed the President’s decision.

“His Excellency the President, Dr ED Mnangagwa, has granted a State-assisted funeral to the late Elvis Nyathi who was slain in South Africa last week.

“The remains of the late departed are expected in the country at the weekend,” said Dr Sibanda.

Nyathi, a father of four, was killed when he tried to escape from a crowd soon after getting home from work.

The man and his family were attacked by the gang that was checking documents for foreigners in the area.

The mob caught up with Nyathi as he tried to flee, tied him up and stoned him before setting him alight.

Many local and foreign commentators have condemned the killing of Nyathi, with some saying there was a group of South Africans that have a serious dislike of fellow Africans.

A number of Zimbabweans based in South Africa told The Herald that they were now living in fear as some rouge South Africans were targeting them for offences that would have been committed by citizens of other African countries.

Taking to social media after Nzunzo was criticised for marrying her even though he is aware of her past, Faith said she can’t believe she has found her “forever”.

She opened up about how someone once advised her that she should settle down with a man who loves her more than she loves them.

“Well, God knows my heart and he knew that I could never live by that advise. My man has shown me time and time again that he will fight for our love. He loves me no matter what.

“The consistency in the way he looks at me throughout these years, I should’ve known that we would spend the rest of our lives together,” she said.

The reality TV star further went on to say that her relationship with Nzunzo is not a typical love story, but she would have never had it any other way.

“God created me for you and I was created for you. I’m so content knowing that you love me. I am so blessed to freely love you unconditionally for the rest of our lives,” she said.

“The man that drives me crazy and still gives me butterflies till today, is the man I’ll be spending the rest of my life with.

“This past weekend, our families became one for the sake of our love. So much respect and love was reciprocated from both sides of our families and it had me so emotional and crying the whole weekend.

“I’m so excited to begin this new chapter with my hubby and build an amazing life for our kids and grandkids. I can’t wait to wake up next to you every morning.”

While many Twitter users are attempting to connect the dots of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa’s death, others have been feeling for his ex-wife Mandisa Mkhize, who he cheated on.

Netflix released a documentary titled Senzo: Murder of a Soccer Star, which looks into the details and speculation surrounding the former Bafana Bafana captain’s death. Senzo was killed in an armed robbery that took place at his then-girlfriend, singer Kelly Khumalo’s home on 26 October 2014.

The five men accused of murdering him appeared in court on Tuesday 12 April but the case was postponed further until next week. The documentary, which was released on 7 April, set tongues wagging on Twitter. Many people are upset that Senzo’s killer had not been found but others took notice of the soccer star’s cheating scandals. The former Bafana Bafana captain allegedly cheated on his wife Mandisa quite a few times. Take a look…

So, Tweeps felt for the soccer star’s wife Mandisa Mkhize because he cheated on her several times. The soccer star began dating Kelly while he was married to Mandisa. Kelly said she only found out that Senzo was married when she was three months pregnant with their daughter Thingo – on an episode of her reality show Life With Kelly Khumalo. Take a look…

“I only found out that this man was married when I was three months into my pregnancy. So I have a fear of that,” she said.

Mandisa allegedly tried to push Kelly off the road and she jumped out the vehicle to confront her and that was when she found out Senzo was married. However, it turns out Senzo also allegedly had a third “baby mama.”

Minenhle Mathaba claimed to have been in a relationship with Senzo for three years before he died in 2014. She said that she knew Senzo was married and he was involved with Kelly but they also share a son together.

However, a local publication reported that Mathaba may be a fraud who targets grieving families. So, it is unclear whether Senzo really had a third “baby mama” or not.

An elderly headman in Binga has been missing for a whole week after taking a three-day walk from his home in Sichutumba to Sianzyundu to visit his relatives to help resolve a social problem.

A villager told Southern Eye that Headman Dickson Siabwizu Mudenda from Binga South made the journey to Sianzyundu on foot because there is no transport in the area. Said the villager:

The old man, who is a headman, decided to walk to Sianzyundu due to transport problems.

It is reported that he arrived well at Siyanzyundu. On his way back no one knows what happened to him as he has gone missing.

It is now the seventh day since he left Sianzyundu.

Relatives, who lived with him, are now worried and wondering what could have happened to the headman.

Mudenda is shortsighted and villagers now fear that he could have taken the wrong route resulting in him getting lost.

Meanwhile, Chief Dobola on Wednesday told Southern Eye that he was informed that Headman Mudenda was found at Kariangwe but was not sure whether the report was true or not. He said:

I got a message that he has been found at Kariangwe, but I am yet to check the authenticity of the message.

Binga is considered to be among some of the country’s most underdeveloped areas with a lack of basic infrastructure such as navigable roads.
