It seems fans of the popular award-winning telenovela, Gomora are to suffer a huge blow after learning that one of the main characters, Melusi (Zolisa Xaluva) is set to leave the show.

It is understood that the talented Melusi did not see eye to eye with the show’s producers, which saw him ditching the telenovela to pursue other opportunities. On Gomora, the Melusi Dlamini character is a principal at a local high school, and married to a celebrated social worker, Gladys (played by Thembi Seete). Melusi is a strict father who expects a lot from his son, Ntokozo (Ntobeko Sishi) who lives to impress and get validation from his father.

A source who works on set said Xaluva has his own high standards, and he knows what he wants and is not scared to confront producers if he is not comfortable doing something, and that some people would confuse his confidence for arrogance. Another source said his frank attitude on several issues rubbed some powers the wrong way.

“Producers have been trying to get rid of him, but MultiChoice (which owns DStv where the show is broadcast) refused to let him go citing a rating effect. They eventually gave the producers the o ahead to kill off Melusi. He is a brilliant actor, but the are things producers won’t tolerate”, said the source.

Gomora publicist Linda Matsolo confirmed that Xaluva’s character will soon be off the show. Xaluva, who turns 40 in the next two months did not respond to questions. He becomes the second biggest act to leave the telenovela after Israel Matseke Zulu left the show to focus on his health.

Meanwhile, Gomora star actor, Buyile Mdladla’s contract was not renewed.

South African radio personality Pearl Modiadie and reality star Andile Ncube sparked romance rumours after allegedly cuddling and kissing at the popular Tashas restaurant in Morningside, last month.

Andile Ncube appeared to have snatched Zarina Hassan, popularly known as Zari The Boss Lady from her “baby daddy” musician Diamond Platinumz on Netflix’s reality show – Young, Famous & African.

However, a local publication reports that Andile was seen cuddling and kissing the Metro FM presenter at Tashas restaurant in Morningside. Sources claim the pair are still getting to know each other.

“Their thing is not old. We are not sure if it’s serious yet, but Andile is a flirt and Pearl is single. So, we don’t know how far this will go,” said a source to the publication.

Pearl has however denied the dating rumours.

“We are friends. We are not dating. We are good friends,” she said to the publication.

“Call Andile and ask him. We are just good friends. I have not seen him in quite a long time,” she continued.

Pearl may have denied that she is dating Andile but she did admit that they went out to Tashas.

“We did go to Tashas. I mean, friends do go for breakfast every now and then, don’t they? We are not together,” she added.

Two staffers from the restaurant told the publication that the pair looked “cosy and touchy.”

“They came [here] last month. They sat at the table next to the tree and were holding hands and touching one another like a couple,” said the source.

“They even left together and kissed in the parking lot in front of a lot of people. They looked very cosy and touchy,” said another staffer.

Pearl announced that she and the father of her son, Nathaniel Oppenheimer called it quits in January 2021.

Civil servants have written to their employer requesting an urgent meeting for the two parties to find a way forward regarding their salaries that have been eroded by rising inflation.

Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (ZCPSTU) secretary-general David Dzatsunga said they are now waiting for a response from the Government. Said Dzatsunga:

Things are going south. Nothing is working because of the inflation, the prices, the rate and all that we were given make no sense.

There is a US$75 and a US$100 salary and that was at least cushioning us. On average, a civil servant is getting ZW$28 000-ZW$30 000.

The way forward is we have written to the employer asking for a meeting with the National Joint Negotiation Committee (NJNC) and the letter was delivered on Wednesday.

We are now waiting for their response to our request for an urgent meeting.

Civil servants are demanding a pre-October 2018 salary of US$540 per month but the Government says it has no capacity to meet its workers’ demands.

Last year, the government workers, mainly teachers, nurses and doctors, declared incapacity but authorities responded by threatening to withhold their paltry salaries and firing them.

A MAN aged 34 is battling for his life at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital after an attempt to enlarge his private parts went wrong leading to a fractured manhood. Both authorities at the hospital and the victim, Joseph Bwalya, confirmed the incident in separate interviews.

Mr Bwalya, of Lusaka, is said to have consumed a concoction of herbs in order to enlarge his manhood so that he could satisfy the sexual desires of his wife.

A doctor at the hospital, who was one of the surgeons operating on the patient, said Mr Bwalya was taken to the health facility with erect manhood that was as hard as steel and could not go down.

“We had a case which was brought to us at the hospital. The patient had what we call penile fracture or fractured penis. We suspect he took traditionally.

Many of us met Gogo Maweni when she took her alleged baby daddy to Moja Love’s Papgeld a couple of years ago and since then, the traditional healer has been making headlines.

The traditional healer whose real name is Makgotso Lee-Anne Makgopo has managed to build a fan base for herself. in 2019, she bagged a reality show on Mzansi Magic that follows the lives of modern traditional practitioners.

The reality show which is titled Izangoma Zodumo became an instant hit and naturally, Gogo Maweni became the breakout star of the show.

A couple of weeks ago, Gogo Maweni made headlines when it was revealed that she was allegedly SK Khoza’s baby mama after videos of the actor acting erratically surfaced online.

Upon seeing the videos, social media users took a deep dive into her personal life and found old posts that made them believe that she allegedly might somewhat be responsible for his bad behavior, a claim which she vehemently denied. In one of her older social media posts, she wrote, “I don’t have baby daddy issues. All issues were settled in my nduma! The outcome was to leave them with nothing…if my kids don’t “eat” no one eats – do the math!”

In an interview on Gagasi FM, Gogo Maweni cleared her name and denied any involvement, “For those who don’t know, I supported him financially and emotionally. I have never seen this side of him and I cannot comment on his behavior because there are things that I cannot speak about regarding him.”

In the same interview, the sangoma said that she would be willing to help him even though they are no longer a couple, “I will be willing to assist. Sthembiso is the father of my child. I don’t hate him and I don’t like seeing him do all these things and to be honest, I was hurt. To be honest he was one of the people who pushed me to accept my ancestral calling. I don’t want to and he said you need to go through this and I will support you.”

Shortly after that, we found out that Gogo Maweni has pet snakes and that left the whole country intrigued.

Mzansi hip hop stars AKA and Nadia Nakai are not letting these verbal and physical abuse allegations off the slide as they posted cute intimate pictures together on Saturday afternoon to prove that they are still riding together strong as couple, while out in the Free State.

In a now-deleted online article, the Daily Sun in April reported that AKA (real name Kiernan Forbes) allegedly assaulted Nakai and their promoter while in Ghana for work purposes.

Forbes’ lawyers reportedly issued the Daily Sun with a legal letter with the intention to sue it R800,000 for ‘defaming’ him.

The couple also took to Twitter to release a joint statement, refuting any break-up and abuse allegations between them, citing the trip was a “fun and beautiful working trip where we both had separate work engagements is now being turned into a public smear campaign.”

Media personality Somizi Mhlongo and his estranged husband Mohale Motaung have put their differences aside and teamed up to sue television producer Legend Manqele for failing to pay them R1.5 million for the broadcasting rights of their wedding ceremony.

Somizi and Mohale had a traditional wedding in September 2019 and their white wedding in January 2020. Before their wedding, the pair sold the broadcasting rights of the wedding special to Bar Leader TV – which also produced Living the Dream with Somizi – which was aired on Mzansi Magic.

However, the company led by Legend Manqele reportedly failed to pay the pair two years after the wedding special was broadcast on Showmax. Somhale announced their divorce in August 2021 after Mohale accused Somizi of physically and psychologically abusing him – in leaked audio clips between himself and the producer of Somizi’s reality series – Legend.

The divorce proceedings appeared to be messy, from the trailer of season five of the reality series, but a local publication reports that the pair have teamed up to fight Legend for allegedly failing not to pay them.

According to the letter, seen by a local publication – Somizi and Mohale, who were represented by their company, Elahom Events signed an agreement with Manqele’s company to film and broadcast their wedding for a R1.5 million fee.

The lawyer reportedly said that they wrote a letter to Legend in July 2021 pleading with him to pay Somhale but he said he was awaiting documents from the South African Revenue Service (SARS), as well as documentation from his team before he could respond to the letter.

Other documentation was reportedly requested by Legend and allegedly received but the pair claim they were still not paid. The lawyers have instructed Manqele to pay the money and they threatened to take legal action against him and possibly liquidate to recover the money if he fails to pay.

The publication says Mohale “pleaded ignorance” and said “it’s not true,” while Somizi declined to comment. Legend on the other hand says it is between Somizi and SARS.

“Somizi must take it up with SARS,” he said to the publication.

MDC Alliance senator and MDC-T chairman Morgen Komichi said that members of Parliament are living in abject poverty and it won’t be a surprise to see some of them “begging in the streets.”

Speaking to The NewsHawks this week, Komichi also lamented the salaries being earned by civil servants saying there is no hope anymore for Zimbabweans under a ZANU PF-led Government. Said Komichi:

If you see an MP’s payslip, you will cry. It will not be surprising to see MPs begging in the streets.

Their salaries and allowances are just as good as that of a teacher; there is nothing.

Look at all civil servants, look at the soldiers, the police and all, it shows there is no capacity by this government to sustain its citizens. There is no hope anymore.

The (black market) rate is now ZW$360 and how can civil servants survive, how can people survive?

They have failed to run this country, people are angry and starving.

Komichi said the only way to solve the country’s economic challenges is by having an all-inclusive dialogue rather than a winner-take-all approach.

Teachers embarked on strike action when the first term commenced in February, demanding the restoration of their pre-October 2018 salaries pegged at US$540.

The Government rejected the request and instead, offered its workers a paltry pay rise which still falls far below the Poverty Datum Line.

Khanyi Mbau surprised many South Africans after they saw a s.e.x scene she did with Mondli Makhoba on the latest season of The Wife. In many ways, the s.e.x scene was the first of its kind in South Africa and it instantly became a trending topic across the country.

Not only was it explicit, but it also showed n#dity which is not a common thing on South African television.

On the latest episode of Downtime with Somizi, Kgomotso Christopher was one of the guests who were featured on the second episode of the show alongside Mampho Brescia.

After having a conversation about the industry and its complexities, the actress was then asked if she would be comfortable playing an intimate role and if her husband would be secure about it, “He does not mind, remember, they met us as actors, they supported us way before even anyone knew a Mampho Brescia or a Kgomtso Christopher, we had husbands who would be like, follow your dreams.”

On whether or not she would have a s.e.x scene like the one Khanyi Mbau had on The Wife, this is what she had to say, “I am one as an actor who says, I am just a vessel to tell a story and if that story needs that scene, for me I do what needs to be done for a story to be told because that is not me, that is the character.”

Kgomotso then explained that she and her husband of 18 years are very open with each other and that they communicate really well about everything that goes on in their lives.

It was now Mampho’s turn to answer the question, “as an actor you have to be able to go anywhere, as long as it is authentic to the story and as long as it is done in a way that is respectful to the story.”

Mampho then went on to explain how the scene should be if she would consider doing it, “It should make sense, it definitely should not be like p0rn.”

A couple of days after Khanyi’s raunchy scene was aired, Khanyi and her co-star went on a Twitter Space to answer burning questions from fans. After a fan asked Khanyi about her infamous s.e.x scene, Khanyi explained the process of shooting the scene and what she wore, “I wore the thinnest T strap underwear you can ever imagine. Camera work allows the illusion for you to think there’s nothing there when there’s everything there. For example, in the scene where he went down on me, there was literally a big camera in the sheets with us,” she explained.

She then went on to add, “Even in the scene where you see Nkosana under the sheet talking to me, you thought I was there. I wasn’t there. I was not even in the room when they shot him lying in bed as if they were both there.”

Limpopo-based cake artist Kurhula Makhuvele of Fine Bakes has honoured DJ Black Coffee after he won a Grammy award.

The DJ recently won Best Dance/Electronic Album award for his seventh studio album, Subconsciously, at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.

Kurhula achieved a lifelong dream when building a 2m tall cake of Black Coffee weighing more than 100kg with 84 layers of cake sponges.

“Doing a life-size cake has always been my dream. I am so inspired to celebrate our very own. I am obsessed with sculptured cakes. Black Coffee has won the Grammy and Fine Bakes wants to create a life-size cake for our talented SA musician.

The artist revealed the cake would go to Buhlebezwe Children’s home.

“[It’s] a cake that looks exactly like him and hopefully the same height as him,” she wrote about the project on her Instagram timeline.

This was the tallest cake Kurhula and her company have made. Cake Flora, who partnered with her company, revealed the chocolate Grammy weighed 1.45kg and was 34cm tall.

“Using Cake Flora’s Super Black Airbrush Gel, Quick Paint, and Sun Gold Lustre Powder, we were delighted to partner with Kurhula to make this possible. The cake has been donated to the Buhlebezwe Children’s home,” read the statement on their Instagram page.

Kurhula shared the journey with her followers.

Several homes, a school, and roads were destroyed by a hailstorm in Nkayi District last week.

Government officials are struggling to assess the extent of the damage caused by heavy rains that began on Wednesday due to inaccessibility and lack of telephone coverage.

Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs minister Richard Moyo told VicFallsLive that the rains affected wards 1, 2, 13 and 14 in villages such as Tsheli, Sobunyonyo, Gampinya and Sovondo. Said Moyo:

The report is true as I have just spoken to Nkayi officials, but the challenge is that there is no (telephone) network (coverage) for us to contact our government representatives on the ground and the road is also inaccessible.

Once the place is reachable, we will give the status of families who lost their homes.

The hailstorm reportedly caused the collapse of a classroom block at Jabulisa Secondary School.

The storm also killed livestock such as goats, sheep and poultry.

Moyo advised affected villagers to find safe places to live until they receive help from the Government. He said:

For now, we would like to advise them to stay indoors until we find a way to access them.

We are still not sure about the extent of the damage, but soon we will be there to assist those families.

Meanwhile, Civil Protection Unit acting director Nathan Nkomo said he was not aware of the destruction of infrastructure in Nkayi.

Burnley’s recent renaissance continued as Matej Vydra clinched a hard-fought win against Wolves at Turf Moor which piled the pressure on Everton in the fight for Premier League survival.

In a match of few chances, Vydra swept in from close range after being picked out by Wout Weghorst’s low cross.

Wolves had earlier forced saves from Nick Pope either side of half-time, but mustered little in way of a response.

Burnley have now won seven points from three games since sacking Sean Dyche.

Beating Wolves moved the Clarets out of the relegation zone and above Everton, although the Toffees could leapfrog them if they beat Liverpool in the Merseyside derby later on Sunday.

Wolves remain eighth as they aim for European qualification but missed the chance to close the gap on seventh-placed West Ham.

James Ward-Prowse scored two stunning goals as Southampton came from behind to rescue a point at the Amex.

Brighton were cruising thanks to a second-minute strike from Danny Welbeck and Mohammed Salisu’s own goal late in the first half, with Saints full-back Tino Livramento also carried off with a serious-looking leg injury.

However, Ward-Prowse’s trademark free-kick on the cusp of half-time sparked the Southampton fightback, his 14th directly from a free-kick, second only to David Beckham (18) in the Premier League era.

After the break, he demonstrated his skills from open play with a fierce low drive that fizzed past Robert Sanchez bring his side level and take him to 10 goals for the season.

Southampton pushed for a winner against their shell-shocked hosts but lacked creativity and were relieved that Pascal Gross’s late strike was ruled out for offside.

The point does mean Brighton match their record Premier League points tally of 41 and breaks their run of five home games without a goal.

The past eight days have typified Southampton’s season, an impressive win over Arsenal followed by a dismal defeat at Burnley and then finding themselves two goals down to Brighton.

But, in Ward-Prowse, they have a player who is impressively reliable and continues to catch the eye for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

The 27-year-old signed a long-term contract last summer but his outstanding long-distance shooting is sure to have some of the Premier League elite looking in his direction.

Losing to Brighton might have killed off Saints’ hopes of a top-half finish but the momentum given them by this comeback might just be what they need to leapfrog the likes of Newcastle and Leicester in their remaining four games.

As for Brighton, a season of great promise on the road has not been replicated at the Amex, with only Norwich and Watford having a poorer home record.

Wins at Arsenal and Spurs had put them within touching distance of the 41 points they have achieved in the last two campaigns.

They seemed to be on course for only their fourth home win of the season after an enterprising first half but lost their way in the face of Southampton’s revival.

Gross thought he had won it for Seagulls with 12 minutes to go, lashing home from outside the box but home celebrations proved premature.

Still, Potter will be pleased with the threat his side posed and confident that their record points tally, and highest Premier League finish, will be secured over the final stretch of the season.

Christian Pulisic’s 90th-minute winner helped save team-mate Jorginho’s blushes as Chelsea boosted their top-four hopes with a late win over an understrength West Ham.

David Moyes rested six players before their Europa League semi-final on Thursday and it looked like they might hold for a precious point when Jorginho’s woeful effort from the spot was saved by Lukasz Fabianski after 87 minutes.

But after Craig Dawson was sent off after a video assistant review (VAR) for fouling Romelu Lukaku in the build-up to the penalty, Pulisic turned the saviour as he tucked in Marcos Alonso’s low cross.

It sent Stamford Bridge into raptures after a frustrating afternoon that looked set to continue manager Thomas Tuchel’s poor form at home, with his side having lost their last three games.

But the victory sparked relief for him and his players as they recovered from their midweek defeat by Arsenal to move five points clear of the fourth-placed Gunners.

West Ham will be distraught they did not get anything from the game after a sterling display, with Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio all starting on the bench.

Dawson, who was otherwise excellent with a number of blocks, will also feel aggrieved as West Ham remain seventh, eight points behind Arsenal.

Chelsea’s recent woes on the pitch have mirrored their uncertainty off it as the club waits for new owners to take charge and give it new direction.

Recent defensive problems, with the team having conceded 11 goals in their three previous home games, have not been helped by news that Antonio Rudiger is set to leave at the end of the season after failing to agree a new deal despite being offered a contract of more than £200,000 a week.

But this late victory gave Stamford Bridge a huge lift even if it looked as if Jorginho had thrown away Chelsea’s best chance when his under-hit penalty was easily gathered by the West Ham goalkeeper.

A clean sheet for the hosts was also welcome, particularly as they were without the injured Rudiger and James, and forced into a late reshuffle when Andreas Christensen was replaced by Trevoh Chalobah, despite the Dane initially being named in the starting line-up.

James was missed in a lacklustre first half. Ruben Loftus-Cheek filled in at right wing-back but Chelsea could not penetrate West Ham’s defensive wall under the expert marshalling of the evergreen Mark Noble.

In front of another restricted crowd of 32,231 because of sanctions against owner Roman Abramovich, and with Lukaku back on the bench, there was little to rouse the crowd before the break with only an off-target effort by N’golo Kante coming anywhere close.

West Ham were happy to soak up the pressure and went closer to scoring through Andriy Yarmolenko and Said Benrahma, although the latter’s saved effort was deemed offside.

The first shot on target did not come until close to the hour mark, when the home fans finally got off their seats. Dawson brilliantly blocked Timo Werner’s effort before Kante and Chalobah had shots saved by Fabianski.

Tuchel also woke from a slumber to berate the officials after Rice was deemed to have been fouled shortly after coming on to replace Noble.

After Werner went close twice more, Tuchel made a triple substitution with Lukaku, Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech all coming on.

And it was not long before it made an impact. Lukaku was slipped through and pulled back by Dawson. Referee Michael Oliver awarded a penalty and a yellow card, but after a VAR review upgraded it to a red.

That looked like it would lead to a home win when Jorginho, normally so reliable from the spot, stepped up.

But his embarrassment was saved by Pulisic, who scored his seventh goal of the season from Alonso’s cut-back which made Tuchel and the fans punch the air in delight.
