Somizi Mhlongo is thankful

Media personality and businessman Somizi Mhlongo has taken to Instagram to share how the non-tangibles are the things that have centred him. He has made his bathroom talks a thing and in a recent session opened up about true happiness. He said God made sure the fundamental and important things were free for a reason.

“I’ve also been in those moments were I wish I had somebody else’s life until I was in their position and realised that all I was doing I was chasing something I am not. I was chasing something that looks like happiness and looks like wealth. I was chasing something that looks like everything is hunky dory.

Somizi Mhlongo

“Being in this position now of everything I wanted, I realise all I’ve always wanted has always been there. I could’ve had it without the money, without the fame, and without the lifestyle and soft life. What is that? It’s true happiness, it is contentment, it is peace, joy, it is calmness and positivity,” he said

When you operate on a spiritual level and with wisdom you are able to recognise when the devil is testing you, and when the devil is at play. I think this is where Will missed the point, that the devil was at play on that night. He was nominated for an Oscar for best actor, which he happened to win, but a nomination on its own is a big night and the devil started to kick in through Chris Rock.

Shauwn Mkhize has decided to lend a helping hand to the families affected by the KZN floods. Many celebrities have revealed and shown their support to the families and now the businesswoman has decided to do her part. She announced that she is going to build 20 houses to assist some of the families who were displaced by the floods. Shauwn said she felt compelled to lend a helping hand in the relief efforts that have been put in place to assist victims.

She said: “I am a mother and a family person. More importantly. I am from KwaZulu-Natal and these are my people. I can’t just fold my arms and do nothing about the situation.

Shauwn Mkhize

The Royal AM football club boss said she had already identified land in KwaDabeka in Clermont and was in the process of securing it before starting with the project. When asked how much she would spend on the project, she was quick to say it was not about money.

“All I want to do is lend a helping hand and make a difference where I can. It’s not about me, but about those destitute families. I don’t want to hog the limelight for this.

MaMkhize has had her fair share of criticism over how much she flaunts her wealth. She came under fire for handing out cash bonuses to players following their game against Maritzburg United in October.

South African star Kabza De Small is one of the finest producers of Amapiano in the country. He had been winning big and making headlines as he produced several fine tracks over the past three years. Kabza was the most nominated artist at the South African Music Awards (Sama27) and won the Male Artist of the year to show for his fine work. The 29-year-old DJ is scooping millions from music, creating a good life for himself.

The Adiwele hit-maker is a happy soul to be around, and he loves to dance, drink beer and even smoke. Many fans attached his social behaviour to a man who is not focused. The self-acclaimed Amapiano King is the opposite kind of person to the one he portrayed to the public. Kabza is a very focused man with success across a portfolio of investments in real life.

Kabza De Small

Kabza De Small’s business empire

It is clear to Kabza that he must invest in his main music business before anything else. As a result, he started his record label called Piano Hub. Top producers and artists like Young Stunna and Mdu Trp joined the record label making it one of the best Amapiano labels.

Kabza also ventured into fashion with longtime friend and business partner DJ Maphorisa. The duo introduced the Scorpion Kings Live Merch when they hosted the Sun Arena Concert in 2020. The merchandise grows as they bring the t-shirt, hats, and scuffs wherever they host.

Recently Kabza shared an Instagram video saying, “I am on my way up”. The famous DJ grew up in an averagely low-income family, and this has helped him to be able to remain grounded even when his empire is flourishing. Sources say that he is running a portfolio of investments that he keeps private, and he consistently portrays the wrong perceptions to the public.

Lady Du on how Amapiano is doing good for her

$

In a world where the music industry is said to be poor and exploits artists, Amapiano musician, Lady Du, has taken a different direction.

The star posted a picture of herself next to her house and cars and said Amapiano has bought her six cars and a house.

She said she also hasn’t used the money she’s received for royalties, she’s saving it.

Asked how she does it, Lady Du said: “I push myself and my music. When I get my bookings, I save a big portion of the money, maybe 80%, and spend the remainder. So, asset investment, buying land, turning it into rooms for rental, buying smashed cars, fixing and re-selling them is what made me accumulate most of my assets,” she said.

“And not buying brand new things has helped me as well. I buy second-hand cars, instead of brand new ones and that’s how I do it.”

Lady Du also advised fellow musicians on how to go about making money for themselves.

When it comes to saving, young musicians should know that being in the music industry is not something that lasts forever, so whatever you get when you get a chance, save. At least know that you are secure for a long time,” she said.

“More than anything, people should pay their taxes and try and invest in things that are outside of music so that if something happens to them, they know that they have something to fall on and they know they can rely on whatever they have built outside of music,” she continued.

She said she had taken a conscious decision to not sign under a company and do things herself, hence she is able to make herself money.

Ownership of your things is better than somebody dictating to you because when you get money it comes to you and you pay people. When you are under someone you have no movement whatsoever when it comes to your music or money.”

Norton MP Temba Mliswa reveals all

$

Temba Mliswa says many Members of Parliament are impoverished because they are paid slightly above US$180 for the hard work they do in formulating laws and policies in parliament.

Mliswa revealed that they are also US$25 to PSMAS for medical aid from the same amount. He added that poor people may not be able to contest in elections because of the demanding nature of the process and of the job after one is elected.

Politics isn’t a game for the poor and requires much financial investments. People should understand the money that MPs get before blasting them. We are paid RTGS$75 000. You divide that by 400, the current rate, to get the amount in US$.

Seating allowance is RTGS 3000 for committees and Parliament. Medical aid we pay RTGS$10 000 to PSMAS. For me I have 19 kids plus myself 20. When you pay this medical aid panosara marii? Medical aid we pay for ourselves, it’s not Parliament that pays.

Cars we service for ourselves and it’s a single car for 5 years. Imagine someone like Hon Dubeko Sibanda driving from his constituency in Binga. How many times does he service the car after driving to Parliament? Over 1000km every week? How can you serve properly with 1 car?

They should be a car in the constituency to help the residents. We have no information centres in the constituencies to cater for issues of information dissemination relating to a variety of issues such as Covid, census etc.

Temba Mliswa

I have a personal constituency office in Norton which I run on my own. Just the rentals I pay nearly a US$1000. I have a staff complement which I pay nearly a US$1000 again. That is before other expenses such as Wifi and other office consumables.

On top of that we have inflationary issues. Yet right now we are yet to be paid our sitting allowances since February. It’s an unfortunate situation which leads to legislators seeking for ways to make money. This includes selling fuel coupons, striking vehicles deals etc.

When they go on site visits at companies some get captured through being given goodies. It’s bad. A comparison with other African countries shows the pathetic standards locally. If you go to Kenya MPs are paid US$15 000, Zambia is around US$3000. We are paid less than US$200!

How do you expect us to have effective oversight in such a situation. It’s difficult. I have never benefitted a Parliamentary car because I made my own money outside Parliament. That makes me an effective independent legislator. However not everyone has the same financial clout.

That is why many fail to contest. If you want to contest me in Norton the politics is of such a nature that you have to be resourced more than I am. If not, your chances of winning are very slim because residents have financial needs and expect the MP to chip in financially.

If you can’t do that, they will discard you! Therefore the fact is that there is no money at Parliament. Don’t look as legislators as some monied people. The few that have money such as Tendai Biti and Job Sikhala are lawyers who have personal initiatives which pay them.

However the rest who wait for Parliament have nothing. If you are not a Minister you have nothing because they are the ones who get meaningful benefits. So people say MPs are stupid etc but if I’m stupid and yet am a product of a public vote what does that make you?

Professor Jonathan Moyo exposés ZANU PF

Professor Jonathan Moyo has accused the ruling party ZANU PF of engaging in political fraud when it comes to the conferment of the National Hero status to fallen former liberation warfighters. Moyo’s outbursts come after the ruling ZANU PF decided to snub the National Liberation Hero John Gwitiria by giving him a lesser Liberation Hero status.

Said Moyo, “The shocking denial of national hero status to Cde John Gwitiria, aka Kenneth Gwindingwi, confirms that the conferment of that status has become a political fraud and an intolerable distortion of the history of Zimbabwe, let alone of the liberation struggle. Something must give!”

Meanwhile, CCC senior official Glady’s Hlatshwayo said it was wrong for ZANU PF not to confer the founding Chairman of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Gwitira a National Hero status.

Jonathan Moyo

Yesterday in Nyanyadzi we buried national hero and my uncle John Gwitira (Cde Kenneth Gwindingwi) He was a pioneer freedom fighter and commander who trained many comrades in Tanzania & opened the warfront in North East Zimbabwe where he led the Chaminuka sector while Rex Nhongo led the Nehanda sector. He was also a member of the General Staff.
My uncle became politically active after his father (Samson Gwitira) was imprisoned at Hwahwa prison following the Ndangana led Crocodile Gang operations in Chimanimani. His father’s car had been used to ferry the comrades to Chimanimani for the operation.

I was shocked by the deliberate distortion of history at the 42nd Independence Celebrations the other day in Byo when someone publicly claimed that Mnangagwa was a member of the Crocodile Gang. It is a big lie! Ndangana led that group and ED was not a member!

Zim Wits University PhD student commits suicide

A Zimbabwean PhD Candidate at University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa Philip Chuma has reportedly committed suicide after failing to register for the 2022 academic year due to an expired permit. In a memo to the students the university said Chuma died over the weekend.

Said the university, “His study permit expired in November, and he had been unable to renew it. Home Affairs required the processing of a Letter of Good Cause, which we supplied to him towards the end of last year. Unfortunately, all attempts to request a speedy processing of his documentation were in vain, and this distressed him enormously as he had not been able to register for the 2022 academic year until his documents were in order.”

The university said they had hoped that Chuma’s PhD would be ready for examination later this year.
He was in regular communication with the Wits International Office, his supervisor and the School Business Manager about the progress of sorting out his documentation. This week, he had put in an application to teach in the US through the Educational Partners International (EPI) programme.

“Philip has been doing his PhD on the transition of newly qualified teachers into their first teaching position in Zimbabwean schools. He had recently completed his data analysis chapters and was busy working on his Discussion and interpretation of his findings. He presented parts of his work at SAERA and at the LCT International Conferences. It was our hope that his PhD would be ready for examination later this year.”
Commenting on the matter, former Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education Professor Jonathan Moyo said, “Philip Chuma, a PhD candidate at Wits University in Johannesburg, died by suicide over the weekend; in a tragic case that has the evil trappings of the anti-Zimbabwean Afrophobia being pursued by Minister Motsoaledi at Home Affairs. Chuma played by the rules, to no avail. MHSRIP!”

The Zimbabwe Embassy and the Zimbabwe Consulate in South Africa are yet to comment on the matter.

Manchester United 3 – 0 Brentford

$

Manchester United recorded the biggest win of Ralf Rangnick’s reign in his final home match as interim boss as Brentford were beaten at Old Trafford.

A brilliant opener from Bruno Fernandes was followed by a second-half penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane’s first United goal as the hosts cruised to victory.

Ronaldo also had a goal disallowed as he moved onto 18 Premier League goals, four behind Golden Boot leader Mohamed Salah.

The result keeps alive United’s slender hopes of Champions League qualification at least until next weekend, while Brentford could still go down, even though their 40 points is almost certainly enough to retain their status as a top-flight club.

For the third game running, home fans protested against the club’s owners, but while there were plenty of anti-Glazer family chants and green and gold flares in opposition to the Americans, the mooted 73rd-minute walkout did not materialise in any significant number.
