Chitungwiza police yesterday blocked a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) campaign in Zengeza West ahead of the Saturday by-election.

The event was stopped at the eleventh hour after police fired teargas and rubber bullets to disperse campaigning CCC supporters. They were also attacked by suspected Zanu PF supporters.

CCC in Chitungwiza

This resulted in a stampede which left several people injured.

CCC ward 7 candidate Lovemore Maiko, CCC member Lazarus Sigauke and several others were left injured.

CCC alleges that the police were responsible for violently disrupting their peaceful door-to-door election campaign in Zengeza West constituency.

CCC in Chitungwiza

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said: “We condemn the violent attacks on our members by Zanu PF. It is our constitutional right to mobilize voters ahead of the upcoming by-election. Zanu PF is scared stiff of CCC and it knows it can never win a free and fair election. That is why we continue to call for a pre-election pact and dialogue on electoral reforms to ensure that we do not have a disputed election in 2023. There must be an end to political violence.”

But national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi last night said he was unaware of the incident.

Ellison Moyo and his family are in great distress and in a hopeless situation caused by the disappearance of his son Lawrence Moyo who was last seen on 28 April.

Lawrence was last seen at around 6:30 pm, when he left their Emganwini home (4061) in Bulawayo. The family has since reported the missing person case at Nkulumane Police station.

The 13-year-old form one pupil at David Livingstone was last seen wearing a green T-Shirt, blue jeans, and slippers. He is also said to have left a written note to his family which was discovered by his father after he ran away from home.

The note reads,

“Dear Mama and Daddy. First of all, I would like to thank you guys for everything you have done for me. I don’t really know how to thank you. In my life I’ve never made you guys proud of me but I tried my best, still it was impossible so I have decided to get out of your lives. You’ve been a wonderful family to me but I was not a good son, good brother nor good human being. I feel like I have been a burden in your life. I’m going somewhere far away from you guys because I don’t feel good about all I have done. Please don’t look for me because you will never find me.”

Speaking to Sunday News, his father said, “We have tried our best to look for him and we will never get tired because we love him and we need him. We are asking the community to help us look for him.”

Anyone with information on his current whereabouts was asked to call Ellison Moyo on 0776031505.

Parents cry out as schools hike fees

As the second school term begins today, parents have expressed concern over the high school fees charged and the commitment of teachers.

In separate interviews in Harare and Bulawayo yesterday, parents said it was important that school fees remained affordable for low-income earners and at the same time for teachers to commit themselves to work.

Mrs Kumbirai Kamupini, whose child is at Chindunduma High School, said she had struggled to pay fees.

“Things were not stable for us because we are struggling to raise school fees, but we are thankful that we finally managed to pay and the children have gone back to school,” she said.

“We are now praying that there will not be any lockdowns or teacher boycotts that will disrupt the school calendar again. Last year’s examination classes did not perform as well as they should have (due to lockdowns and teachers actions) and we hope this will not happen again this year,” she said.

Another parent, Mrs Connie Musarara, said although most schools had been accommodating and had accepted payment plans, parents were in a difficult situation.

“We are relieved that children are going back to school and we are expecting that they will get into class with no challenges.

“Some parents paid fees in full, others made part payments due to the economic challenges but we are happy the school admitted all children and understood that parents are struggling to make ends meet.

“We hope teachers will work hard to ensure that all learners catch up on lost time and we can have better results this year,” she said.

Other parents said they had applied for bank loans which they expect to have matured by the start of normal business today.

Mr Gift Tshuma, with children at Solusi High School, bemoaned school fees increase saying they affected their planning.

But Mr Tshuma said the return of a normal school calendar would bring confidence into the education sector.

“Education standards were falling but now that we are returning to the normal school calendar, that is significant. As a result of the disruptions to education, we were forced to hire private tutors for our children. So it was becoming expensive as you needed different tutors for different grades and subjects for those in secondary school,” he said.

Another parent who preferred not to be named said the major concern was that while school fees had been increased, salaries remained stagnant.

“I am happy that schools are reopening but I am concerned with the school fees hike. School fees cost about $90 000 but some of us may be civil servants so it is difficult to pay the fees considering that we have not received a pay rise,” said the parent.

Mr Trevor Mupita expressed hope that learners and teachers would do all they could to catch up on topics not covered between 2020 and last term.

On their part, learners said they were geared for the new term.

Nokutenda Chivasa, a Lower Sixth student at St Oswalds High School said she had been affected by the Covid-19 induced lockdowns and had not produced the best results she could have attained had she had more time in class.

“I wrote my O-Level examinations last year and I think I could have done better if we had got more time for learning. We hope this term will be better and there will be no disturbances so that when we write our A’ Levels next year, we can perform much better.

“We want as much time as we can get, I wouldn’t mind if the holiday was short as long as we get more time in class,” she said.

Nomutsa Chivasa of Nyashanu High School said: “I am happy we are going back to school. I just hope that our teachers will remain in class so that we can learn and we can be better people in the future.”

4-year-old Boy crashes into 2 parked cars after taking mother’s car for a joyride

A four-year-old boy could have a future in Formula One after taking his mum’s car for a drive in the Netherlands.

Police in the central city of Utrecht said the child crashed into two parked cars on Saturday, before leaving the scene in his pyjamas and bare feet.

Concerned bystanders called police after spotting him walking down the street alone in the cold.

No one was hurt during his escapade, with police saying on Instagram they had discovered a “new Max Verstappen”.

Police wrote that the child had woken up on Saturday when his father went to work, and took his mother’s car keys “to go for a drive”.

After officers were called to pick him up, a report came in of an abandoned vehicle near-by, which appeared to have hit two parked cars.

It was registered to the boy’s mother, the force said, and officers called her. Handing over the phone to the youngster, police said he mimicked driving and made gestures of turning a steering wheel.

“We then realized that the child may have been the driver,” the Instagram post continued.

The four-year-old was given some hot chocolate at the police station and a teddy bear, before being reunited with his mum.

Together, they went to the crash scene, where he was asked if he could show how the car worked.

The child – described by his mother as “resourceful” – opened the car with the key, put it into the ignition, and moved his foot to the clutch and gas pedals, police said.

Officers urged the parents to hide their car keys in the future,

“New Max Verstappen found in (the Utrecht suburb of) Overvecht,” police wrote in the post – a reference to the current Dutch world champion Formula One driver.

“Fortunately, this mini driver’s adventure has come to an end with a sizzle,” police added.

Men and women queue for lula lula

She started being a se_x worker five years ago.

And today, the well-endowed 35-year-old from Nyanga now services both men and women.

She also services her old clients on credit.

“I have loyal clients that I service on credit because I know they will never run away with my money,” said the woman.

But clients cannot just show up and expect to be given services on credit.

They discuss it on the phone before they go to her place.

“My clients and I have an understanding and we respect each other.

None of them come knowing they don’t have money,” she said.

The woman said servicing both genders was not a problem for her.

“At first, I was offering my services to men only.

But one day, I received a message from a woman who asked if I also serviced them.

I didn’t hesitate and said yes,” she said.

She said she knew exactly what the woman needed and she didn’t disappoint.

“If you don’t know how to do something, just ask se_x workers Google.

You will get all the answers there.”

The woman then started to service both men and women – as long as they were 18 years and older.

She said sometimes she got so busy that clients had to wait outside for their turn.

She urged people to stop criticizing others.

“Let’s respect other people’s hustles.

If you were fortunate enough to get a decent job, that doesn’t mean you must look down on other people’s hustle,” she said.

Meanwhile, old se_x workers on the streets in Bulawayo claim new faces are making it difficult for them to get clients.

They have been working by the field as se_x workers for years and attracted many clients.

But this has all changed, thanks to a group of new se_x workers on the streets.

And now it’s a case of se_x wars! The old se_x workers said the new faces are making it difficult for them to get clients.

And although the two groups, who are working on 11th Avenue between Robert Mugabe Way and Samuel Parirenyatwa Streets as well as between Masotsha Ndlovu and Third Avenues have not fought physically, there is tension between them.

“We are struggling to make ends meet.

You can stand here the whole day without being picked up.

We are seeing new faces increase every day and it’s hard.

We can’t fight them because they will tell us they also have rights,” said one of the old se_x workers, who called herself ‘Candy’ (real name Nomsa Mlotshwa).

The new se_x workers said unemployment pushed them into doing this work.

But one of the new se_x workers told Sunday News they were not making more money.

“Tuesdays are the worst.”

She said that she became jobless because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I used to work at a grocery shop in the western suburbs, and I was retrenched when the owner began struggling to make a profit and pay my wages,” she said.

The woman, who claims she now lives at an informal settlement popularly known as Ngozi Mine, said she used to see other women sell their bodies and decided to give it a try.

“I would not be here if I had a choice.

I have kids to maintain and the little I make here helps to keep hunger at bay,” she said.

The new se_x workers said they were not going anywhere.

“We are sorry to invade the territory, but we have to survive,” said another new se_x worker.

Cindy Makhathini allegedly dating Tumelo Ramaphosa

News365.co.za has for a couple of times published stories about the IG hottie on how God took his time creating such a beautiful looking human!

Anyone who remembers South African ex-minister Melusi Gigaba’s infamous exit from politics after video leaks of him squeezing his mickey on camera might also remember stories of an underage girl at the centre of the leaks.

Well, that girl is grown now and is rumoured to be seeing the National Bae, Tumelo Ramaphosa the son of the current South African president Cyril Ramaphosa.

Unconfirmed tittle-tattles have it that Cindy Makhathini, (now 23 years of age) and Tumelo Ramaphosa (32) might be seeing each other after being spotted cosy and living large together in Cape Town over the weekend.

Cindy is a renowned social media personality who came under the spotlight back in 2018 after she was fingered as the girl behind the leaking of Malisi Gigaba’s bedroom tapes.

Malusi captured himself mastu_rbating and calling on someone thought to be Cindy to come over and have a piece of his meat.

She was 17 at the time and reports claim that she leaked videos after Malusi dumped her for fear of being found out that he was dating an underage girl.

She has since dusted herself from the past and grown her brand to one of the most influential figures on Instagram. She is also rumoured to be the founder of The Influencer Magazine.

It is no surprise that we hear of her seeing the president’s son since she has been rubbing shoulders with influential personalities from an early age.

The famed social media personality has since launched an Instagram live to refute these claims. She claims that she does not know the president’s son and the two have never met.

Heavy K’s show flops in Botswana

Mzansi DJ and producer Heavy K caught a big L in Botswana over the weekend after his one-man show flopped.

Heavy K was scheduled to perform at the Notwane Lifestyle club on Saturday. However, the event did not go off as planned after he allegedly failed to sell tickets.

According to a local online publication, Heavy K blamed the flopping of his one-man show on the weather. In a video, the House music maestro said,

“I’ve been here since Friday, as you know that we were supposed to have Heavy K live in concert, but due to unfavourable weather conditions, we had to postpone the show.

“But I have good news for you. Since I’m already here, instead of going back home without performing I’ve decided to be live tonight at the same venue Notwane Lifestyle club. You guys must come through, it will be a free event.

“It’s just to give you guys the gimmick of the show. It’s from me, from my heart to you, as you’d know that I’ve always had a rollercoaster relationship with Botswana. I’m trying, by all means, to make sure I perform before I leave the country. The new date for Heavy K live in concert will be announced.”

A source told the publication that Heavy K’s show flopped after he failed to sell tickets to the event due to stiff competition.

“There were about 10 big events in Botswana with Amapiano artists headlining those events. As a result, people were not interested in Heavy K’s show. I strongly believe that tickets did not move and that forced him to cancel at the last minute…it eventually stopped raining and events continued as planned.”

However, Heavy K denied the claims. In a very terse statement, he simply said,

Its not true.”

After failing to perform on Saturday, Heavy K performed on Sunday for free. The entry fees for Saturday’s one-man show were R150 for standard and R500 for VIP.

Ironically, in March, Makhadzi staged her own one-woman show in Botswana which left her gushing after its success.

Insults have become part of daily life for Olwethu and Owami Siko.

The twin sisters said ever since they started appearing on Mzansi Magic reality show Twice as Bold, they have been criticised by the public.

“People are calling us sluts, whores, and loose women with no morals but we have done nothing wrong. We are just looking for a husband. Insults will not stand in our way because we know what we want. We will not be discouraged,” said Olwethu.

She said they were not living to please other people. “We understand people are not used to this kind of life but we’re here to educate them. We have been approached by other sets of twins who share the same interests as us,” she said.

Owami said they were used to threesomes because they had one husband.

“We have been on a date with other twins but we don’t think our relationship will work with them. Our ancestors are OK with a threesome but against a foursome.”

Owami said since the show started, they had attracted a lot of men.

In the last episode, Olwethu said: “We’ve attracted a number of suitors, including celebrities and politicians, but none of these people meet our standards.”

South Africa’s Bonang Matheba has been revealed as one of the hosts of the 8th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), which are happening in Nigeria on May 14, 2022.

The award-winning media personality will co-host the awards, which seek to award the best entertainers in West Africa with IK Osakioduwa. It will be Matheba’s first time hosting the AMVCAs. She has previously hosted the South African version of the AMVCAs, the Mzansi Viewer’s Choice Awards, in 2017 and 2018.

The AMVCA’s are one of the biggest celebrations of film and television talent across Africa, with the first edition being held in 2013.

Minnie Dlamini previously hosted the awards with IK from 2016 until 2018. Announcing the awards’ hosts, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels, MultiChoice Nigeria, Busola Tejumola, said: “We are excited to have Bonang join IK as co-host for the eighth edition of the AMVCAs.

Bonang Matheba

“They are both extremely talented and have attained continental acclaim, having hosted some of Africa’s biggest shows. Together, they will keep the crowd entertained on the biggest night to celebrate African film and TV stars.”
It’s always such an honour to host live productions, and I think after Covid, we haven’t had the opportunity to be outside to have these big, big productions with live studio audiences.

“So, it’s lovely to have all of that back. It’s also an honour. Any single stage I get to step on is an honour.”

Matheba also mentioned that she had longed to share the stage with IK and was looking forward to working with him. Nigerians are very patriotic, and they support each other before anything else. So now being able to have that support from Nigeria is really great,” she said.

“It’s always been the plan for me to grow my brand outside of South Africa and make inroads into the rest of the continent. It’s been one of my strategies, and I’m ecstatic that it has worked so well.

“I see doors opening because the continent has embraced me and not just Ghana and Nigeria, but Kenya too, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, of course, Botswana, and more countries on the continent.”

Matheba recently hosted the Johannesburg leg of The Real Housewives of Lagos premiere. Just a few days before the premiere, she was in Lagos, where she was seen catching up with her friend and talk show host, Toke Makinwa and ‘Young, Famous & African’ star and stylist, Swanky Jerry.

Somizi spills beans on s.e.x life with Mohale

Season 5 of Living the Dream With Somizi (LTDWS) is now streaming first on Showmax, with new episodes every Wednesday until 6 July 2022,and it has topped the Twitter trends list.

The first episode starts with Somizi Mhlongo listening, for the first time, to the leaked audio of Mohale’s abuse allegations. This is followed by a frank video call with Vusi Nova, where they discuss how Somizi feels and some of Mohale’s claims about Somizi’s s.e.x life.

Somizi says their s.e.x life wasn’t great and Mohale was in denial. “There is a part where he says I suggested threesome and stuff. My suggestion of not an open relationship, a versatile relationship were for the benefit of our marriage. Here I was dealing with someone who had issues with s.e.x or I don’t know what you call it,” he says.

He then says he tried other avenues to make things work but Mohale was not keen, “I still stayed, but I said to him let’s find other ways to either we go to a s.e.x therapy, he didn’t want to go because he was in denial that the s.e.x life wasn’t great.” Somizi also denies the fisting claims.

This sets the tone for an explosive scene, which also features Lockdown star Lorcia Cooper asking Somgaga directly, “Did you hit him?” “Living The Dream With Somizi S4 won the 2020 SAFTA, while Somizi & Mohale: The Union broke Showmax’s then-record for first day views when it launched,” says Candice Fangueiro, Showmax’s head of content. “So having shown fans the build-up to the wedding, and the ceremonies themselves, for balance, we wanted to also explore everything that followed.”

The season starts in the second half of 2021, with Somgaga’s career at a crossroads: he is taking time off from Idols and Metro FM, and has replaced his management team with himself. “If I thought iCovid was the tsunami, I thought wrong,” he says early in the episode, later admitting to Vusi that, after the allegations, “I lost nearly everything.”

But as Season 5 launches in May 2022, Somizi is in a very different place: on the cover of next month’s True Love, hosting hit shows on 1Magic (Downtime With Somizi) and Moja Love (Lovey Dovey), and returning to Idols for Season 18.

Season 5 charts that turnaround, while also showing Somizi mourning his mother, expanding the Sompirre, and exploring his calling. He’s also working on his relationships with his daughter Bahumi and his baby-momma, Palesa Madisakwane, who is still recovering from her horrific, near-fatal car crash in 2019. As usual for LTDWS, it’s going to be a star-studded season: look out for appearances from the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Kelly Khumalo, Pearl Thusi and 2022 DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice nominees Lerato Kganyago and Shauwn Mkhize.

“This season I’m living my life to the fullest, and showing the silver lining in every dark cloud,” says Somizi. “I’ve become more comfortable sharing my life and story with everyone; it’s now second nature. It doesn’t feel like I have to do something; everything just happens naturally.”

Somizi held an intimate, pajama-themed Episode 1 viewing party last night at Langhams in Fourways, Johannesburg, attended by his co-stars, close friends, family, and the production team.

Reflecting on what he’s learnt over five seasons of Living The Dream With Somizi, Somgaga says, “My learning has been to be in the moment; life has become shorter than it was before. And to forgive quickly; never forget – you are allowed to cut off anything where love is no longer served on the table. And lastly, being a very kind human being, that for me is a big learning.”

Now produced by Teddy Geldart’s Dopezuluboi Productions (2021 SAFTA nominee Lebo M: Coming Home), Season 5 of LTDWS is moving from Mzansi Magic to Showmax, with Sandile Mdluli (International Emmy nominee The River) taking over directing duties.

Chicco Twala: My son and Kelly Khumalo know the truth

South African music producer, Sello Chicco Twala says his son, Longwe Twala, Kelly Khumalo, and others who were present during Senzo Meyiwa’s murder know the truth about who killed Senzo Meyiwa.

Twala was arrested and released on R2000 bail after he allegedly pointed a firearm at City Power technicians in Bloubosrand, Johannesburg.

In an interview with Newzroom Afrika regarding his arrest, Twala said it pains him that people are tarnishing his name when he wasn’t even there when Senzo Meyiwa was murdered.

The producer said he wasn’t part of the 8 people including his son. He received a call from Kelly Khumalo and went to assist.

“My son, Kelly Khumalo, and the others who were present know the truth. Someone cannot be shot in their presence and they are all silent about it. They know who killed Senzo; my son knows, Kelly knows and everyone else who was there knows.

I must be excluded, I was not there and I am not part of it. I have said it before as well that I am not going to protect my son; if he is the murderer trust me I will come out in support of all the people who want the perpetrators to be jailed. I will never protect him.”

Social media users have alleged that Longwe Twala is the one who shot Meyiwa and that Chicco is shielding him from going to jail. Many theories have surfaced, especially since the Netflix documentary Senzo: Murder of a Soccer Star, debuted.

In a statement circulated on social media, Twala said that his arrest is a “victory” for him and a “defeat” for the “evil” people who have linked him to Meyiwa’s murder.

Finally I got arrested for pointing a toy gun [at] two men whom I thought were cable thieves who caused a blackout to six houses at my recording studios. I am texting from my cell as we speak, waiting for my lawyers to bail me…To my haters, have fun and celebrate my arrest.”
