Former Miss South Africa, Liesl Laurie, was announced as one of the official judges for Miss South Africa 2022.

Laurie was crowned Miss South Africa in 2015. She was one of the Top 10 finalists at Miss World and became the Continental Queen of Africa, the contestant who was placed the highest of all the African contestants. Liesl took to her social media to share the news as she is happy about the new journey.

Social media users are not convinced Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones’ joint statement released on Wednesday 11 May, amid cheating rumours circulating on social media, is legit.

The media personality and her estranged husband released a statement addressing the viral cheating scandal that is allegedly the reason behind their divorce. In the statement, Minnie and Quinton also threatened to take legal action against the relevant parties responsible for these allegations.

On 15 February 2022, the actress, businesswoman and TV presenter released a joint statement with her estranged husband announcing their divorce. The couple explained that the last two years had been rocky for them, this after they tied the knot in 2017.

Since then, the pair have been a trending topic, but more so this week when controversial social media entertainment commentator Musa Khawula alleged that Minnie “cheated” on her former American football player husband with businessman Edwin Sodi.

Khawula also claimed that Quinton reportedly found out about Minnie’s alleged cheating and filed for divorce. He added that she’s allegedly refusing to sign the divorce papers.

With the couple trending for more than two days as the cheating rumours were being dissected on social media, they released a statement refuting the allegations on Wednesday.

The former Mr and Mrs Jones explained that the rumours are “baseless” and “damaging”. They also threatened to take legal action as a result.

However, Twitter users are not convinced that the statement is from both parties.

On Sunday 8 May, a local publication reported that Quinton had allegedly pulled out of their joint business venture amid the ongoing divorce. These reports, as well as Quinton’s silence throughout their marriage, divorce and the cheating rumours, are some of the reasons netizens believe the statement may be one-sided.

Others have said that they will not believe the validity of the statement unless Quinton releases one himself or posts a video. This while others went as far as claiming that the statement was put together by Minnie’s PR team.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa encouraging students to learn to manufacture guns and bombs have been widely criticised. The averements were captured on camera by state broadcaster, ZBC, in a video that has since gone viral. It shows Mnangagwa on a visit to a school and encouraging school children to master the craft of making weapons of war.

In the video, the President said: “Study hard because among you we want engineers who can manufacture guns and also helicopters and fighter jets to bomb our enemies.”

Obert Masaraure, president of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ), said Mnangagwa knows what is likely to befall him due to poor governance, the reason why he is unsettled to the extent of teaching students about violence. The mind of Emmerson Mnangagwa is poisoned with the love of power,” he said.

“His focus is purely on power retention with no interest in delivering services. The coup leader is obviously scared that some people elsewhere are plotting to violently topple him because is aware that a coup begets a coup. We remind the Head of state to focus on service delivery and get performance legitimacy on his profile.”
Masaraure said as teachers, they are educating people to build a prosperous Zimbabwe not to be involved in senseless wars aimed at preserving the interests of a few.

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition chairperson, Peter Mutasa concurred with Masaraure saying Mnangagwa should be very careful of what he says.

“There is nothing new about this. We know our rulers adore violence and are ready to use it to sustain their power,” said Mutasa.

“It was however inappropriate for the President to use such examples to the kids. We live in a difficult and violent world, all of us must be careful not to encourage violence to kids.

“However, we believe we have important issues that should not be lost in the midst of this circus.

“The economy is imploding, many citizens are thrust into abject poverty and the democratic space is closing. I think the ruling elites deliberately create these side shows to distract us from questioning them on important matters.

Mnangagwa said the NGO mother body is demanding answers from President Mnangagwa on how Zimbabweans are going to survive under these economic and social conditions. This is the most important matter,” he said.

Zanu-PF legislator Joseph Chinotimba has stirred controversy in the ruling party circles following a leaked video of him claiming that President Emmerson Mnangagwa was scheming to get rid of him as Member of Parliament.

Chinotimba made the remarks in a three-minute video seen by NewsDay. In the video, he is seen addressing Zanu supporters in Muchini village, ward 29, Buhera South constituency.

Chinotimba claimed that there were people who were being sent by Mnangagwa to decampaign him to ensure he does not retain the seat in the 2023 elections.

“The word of God was preached here and people were liberated… and there are people who are saying that Chinotimba should die. I did not elect myself to this position. It’s you who elected me and l did not impose myself to the position, what have I failed to do so that I (should) be removed (from) my position?” he said.

I have put electricity in most areas in my constituency and I have not stopped… now Mnangagwa wants to send his people to remove me. This country was fought for by war veterans. Chinotimba confirmed the recording when contacted for comment yesterday, but said it was taken out of context.

I am aware of the video and many people have called me over the video and my words have been twisted. I have told people to listen to it carefully, I want you to also listen to it,” he said.

“In the video, I was saying that there are people who are claiming to have been sent by Mnangagwa. That is what I was saying. I support my President.” In 2018, some war veterans in Manicaland accused Chinotimba of exhibiting G40 traits.

THE Public Accounts Committee (Pac) has called on the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) and police to investigate the abuse of US$89 million COVID-19 relief funds by government officials.

The committee also recommended a forensic audit to recover millions of dollars after tabling in Parliament on Tuesday its report on the abuse of the COVID-19 funds.

“The committee’s recommendations to the ministries and those issues referred to Zacc and Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) should be taken seriously. Generally, the committee was concerned about the laxity in maintaining records,” part the report presented by proportional representation MP Memory Mbondiah
read.

“Sadly, ministries in general could not provide ready answers to the committee’s questions. Equally disturbing is the fact that despite ministry officials’ undertakings to submit the required information within mutually agreed timeframes, this was not complied with leaving the committee with no option, but to finalise this report without the information sought.”
The committee analysed Auditor-General Mildred Chiri’s 2021 report which exposed gross irregularities and theft of COVID-19 donations.

According to the committee, the Public Service ministry failed to account for funds and resources, including COVID-19 donations such as fuel that they received.

“On whether the ministry had recovered any money out of the improper payments made through issuance of duplicate NetOne lines, the accounting officer indicated that they had not yet recovered any, but they were waiting for COVID-19 restrictions to be relaxed before sending their internal auditors,” Mbondiah said.

“The explanation from the ministry was not satisfactory… the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare should institute the process of recovering improperly paid allowances from the beneficiaries.

COVID-19 allowances were supposed to be paid to small-to-medium enterprises and vulnerable persons including people with disabilities, the elderly and chronically ill.

THE High Court has dismissed an application filed by legislator Allan Markham against Aurgur Investments and President Emmerson Mnangagwa over the transfer of deed of settlement by the City of Harare.

A High Court application filed Markham, together with a company called Tavonga Savings Scheme and a Harare resident, Jacob Pikicha, on March 10, which challenges a deed of settlement between Augur Investments and Harare City Council, claimed that Mnangagwa’s name was used in the process of allocating the land, leading to the “corrupt” deal.

Justice David Mangota in a judgement today however ruled that the respondents had no authority to sue the respondents. The judge said the applicants sued Mnangagwa in violation of rule 18 of the High Court.

The rule says no summons or other civil processes of the court may be issued out against the President or against any of the judges of the high court without the leave of the court granted on a court application being made for that purpose.

“The respondents succeed in all the three in limine matters which they raised. They showed that the application which sued the President of Zimbabwe without leave of the court is fatally defective and cannot therefore stand,” Maniota ruled.

Augur Investments, Tatiana Aleshina, Michael Van Blerk, City of Harare, Local Government minister July Moyo, Doorex Properties, Registrar of Deeds and President of Zimbabwe were cited as the first to ninth respondents.

“They showed further that the applicants lacked the locus standi to sue the respondents and that the suit which was brought against them was /is fraught with material disputes of fact which cannot be resolved on the papers. The application is therefore dismissed with costs,” Mangota added.

“I am satisfied that applicants who are total strangers to the respondents do not have the requisite locus to sue the latter. Their suit was/is akin to a leap into the dark, so to speak. It hanged on nothing. It was therefore completely devoid of merit.”

“They have no one but themselves to blame for the course which they adopted. A litigant is entitled to seek relief by way of notice of motion. The application is, therefore, dismissed with costs.

The deed of settlement was signed on May 28, 2019 following the alleged intervention of Moyo, who according to court papers, claimed to have been sent by the President.

It was signed after protracted legal battles between Augur Investments owned by Ken Sharpe, government and Harare City Council (HCC) over land given to the Ukrainian company for its role in the construction of the Robert Mugabe International Airport Road.

One person reportedly died while four others were injured when a commuter omnibus they were travelling on crashed on a Nissan Sunny at an intersection along the Bulawayo-Harare Road opposite Parklands in Bulawayo over the weekend.

The deceased was identified as sergeant Gentle Mashavi a Chaplin based at Imbizo barracks.
Bulawayo City Council acting Chief fire officer Lynos Phiri confirmed the accident.

“The driver of commuter omnibus lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle overturned before landing on its side,” he said.

“The brigade noticed that the commuter omnibus was on its side, partially blocking the roadway, while a male adult which brigade gathered it was sergeant Gentle Mashavi, a Chaplin based at Imbizo barracks lay outside. The other vehicle a Nissan Sunny was on the side of the road off road,” said Phiri.

2 ex-girlfriends of Edwin Sodi have spoken out about their respective relationships…and what attracted them to the wealthy businessman.

The controversial public figure has made headlines this week after being allegedly linked to another female celebrity, TV presenter, and media personality Minnie Dlamini.

According to tweets posted by the under-fire celebrity gossip blogger Musa Khawula, Dlamini allegedly had an affair with Sodi while married to husband Quinton Jones. The media personality denied this in an official statement posted on social media on Wednesday 11 May, saying the allegations are “false, damaging and malicious” and that legal action will be taken.

While Edwin Sodi’s business practices have come into disrepute, so has his love life.

In 2020, the 49-year-old businessman was arrested on charges of corruption, fraud, and money laundering, as reported by a local publication.

The ANC “tenderpreneur” has six children with several unknown women, claims Sunday World. He is estranged from his Capricorn FM presenter wife, Nthateng Lerata, and has also dated a string of beauties, including influencers Nokukhanya Karen Zulu, Kat Ncala, and Kefilwe Mabote.

Earlier this week, Musa Khawula tweeted a “hit list” of women linked to Edwin. They allegedly include Mihlali Ndamase, Thuli Phongolo, Lizelle Tabane, and many more.

Thuli and Mihlali have since snubbed the rumours in social media posts.

In addition, in 2015, Edwin is alleged to have had affairs with the former wives of Proverb and DJ Sbu — Onalerona Thekiso and Disebo Makatsa respectively.

Proverb confirmed to a local publication that his wife had an illicit affair with Sodi, while Sodi himself confirmed to a local publication that he was dating Disebo.

In March, a local publication reported that Sodi was arrested for reportedly assaulting his estranged wife Nthateng, whom he allegedly found at their Bryanston home in the company of a male companion.

Speaking in anonymity to a local publication this week, two ex-girlfriends spoke about their romances with Sodi.

One of the women claimed that the businessman was generous, offering them business contracts and the opportunity to drive his luxury vehicles during their romance.

She said: “He is a nice person when you are involved with him”.

She continued: “There is more to the relationship, especially if you are business-minded and not only focused on romance. He will give you a chance to go ahead in business.

“What I know is that, for most women he has been in relationships with, he does not give them money. The only thing you will get is a business opportunity. I know one of the ladies, who is also mentioned on the list posted on social media the other day, once said, ‘Thank you babe for the water and sanitation contract’ and everyone was attacking her because Edwin is currently undergoing these legal cases (alone).”

A fresh, cool and light dish that’s the perfect partner to a heavy main course, this Tsatsiki inspired starter is healthy and delicious.

DIFFICULTY: Easy
PREP TIME: 10 minutes
SERVES: 8

Recipe Ingredients

– 2 English cucumbers (+- 680 g purchased mass)
– 500ml Double Cream plain yoghurt
– 10ml Mint Jelly
– 5ml crushed fresh garlic
– 1 box greengage fruit flavoured jelly
– 300ml hot water
– salt to taste

TO GARNISH

– 50g Herbs Value Pack (Rocket and/or Watercress)
– 20g tub Beetroot Sprouts
– Cocktail Pita bread
– cherry tomatoes
– Cucumber curls and lemon half-slices

Recipe Method

* Grate the unpeeled cucumbers. Transfer into a sieve supported over a bowl, and press firmly to extract all excess moisture. *do not throw out the drained liquid

* Gently combine the yoghurt, drained cucumber, crushed garlic and mint jelly in a mixing bowl.

* Measure the hot water into a measuring jug and stir in the jelly powder until dissolved.

* Pour in the drained cucumber liquid and additional cold water if necessary, to bring the level up to 400ml.

* Gradually pour this liquid into the cucumber yoghurt mixture and combine them to an even colour and consistency. Check for salt just to enhance the flavours.

* Pour the mixture into one large jelly mould, or 8 small lightly greased ramekin dishes.

* Refrigerate for several hours, preferably overnight.

* Loosen around the sides, and if serving individual moulds, turn each one out onto a side plate, and garnish using all or some of the recommended items.

Hints & Tips

* The same recipe may be adapted for other seasonal ingredients, such as 500ml puree of avocado pear with a dash of chilli powder. To serve, choose cheese or breadsticks or croutons.

* Recommended accompaniments: Cocktail pita bread and/or (optional) shallow-fried butterflied crumbed prawns

Condolences are in order to award-winning South African-born comedian Trevor Noah who lost a loved one.

“This morning our family laid to rest the oldest member of our clan Frances Noah, or as most of us referred to her, Gogo,” he wrote.

Trevor’s grandmother has passed on aged 95 years old. Trevor says every moment he got to spend with his grandman was magical.

“My grandmother was born in 1927 and even though she was 95 years old, she still had the best memory of us all. Every moment spent with her felt like a magical journey through time where she would recount all of the family’s greatest joys, losses, achievements, and milestones. ”

Her house in Soweto, according to Trevor wasn’t just a home but a place of refuge.

“Her house in Soweto wasn’t just a home, it was a refuge, a place where other women would come when they had no other place to go, a place where members of the community would gather to pray together every single week, a place where everyone was guaranteed to feel the love emanating from her mighty chest.”

The host of The Daily Show thanked everyone for the messages of condolences they’ve sent his way. He revealed that he cried all week.

“I know many of you grew to love Gogo from afar and I thank you for the condolences and the blessings you’ve sent in her memory. I’ve cried all week celebrating the greatest “movie” I’ve ever watched. A story that began with my first breath and ended with her last. A woman who showed me the truest definition of unconditional love. She passed away peacefully in her sleep and even blessed us with one final Mother’s Day which she enjoyed to the fullest. Hamba Kahle Gogo,” posted Trevor Noah on Instagram.

The star went on to share a photo of the boy expressing how happy he is to be celebrating this day with him.

Jub Jub and his baby mama, Kelly Khumalo have been all over social media for negative reasons but they have been able to co-parent well and celebrate their son.

Jub Jub wrote: “Happy birthday champ, I love too much. I hope you believe in yourself as much as I believe in you, if ever you feel like life is trying to knock you down, it won’t succeed for as long as I’m alive. Re ba tloung Le ba taung. ”

In 2021, Jub Jub and Kelly Khumalo celebrated their son, Christian’s birthday on different dates.

It appears that the parents are not sure of the date, as Jub had celebrated the boy last week, but it was observed that the singer was mute about Christian that day, which made it weird.
However, Kelly posted snaps of her son on Wednesday, 12th of May, celebrating his 11th birthday.

Meanwhile, Jub celebrated his son on the 5th of May, which is a week difference.

It appears the days of Musa Khawula saying whatever he wants about Mihlali with her keeping quiet are coming to an end.

This afternoon Musa tweeted: “Not ya’ll being left to use the Malakayt app that nobody asked for, for baby girl to fly to Bots for her nails. Jokes write themselves.”

Malakyt is Mihlali’s app, allowing people to access beauticians in their areas.

Mihlali then aired out Khawula’s dirty laundry, saying that he has a whole murder case to worry about. He shouldn’t be worried about her having a nail technician.

In recent weeks Musa has been tweeting about Mihlali’s private life, alleging that she’s seeing a married man.

In a Twitter thread, Khawula shared a number of snaps from Mihlale’s close friend’s content where she shares her love experience and weekend plans with her partner. He also shared a video of Mihlali at a club with said boyfriend.

He also exposed Mihlali’s contact details and address on Twitter people found it irresponsible and dangerous, especially in a country with high numbers of domestic abuse and rape.

The controversial tweet from the blogger was removed by Twitter and he is yet to issue any apology to Mihlali and her family.

Just last week Musa Khawula and thepopcornroom shared an image of Leeroy and Mihlali looking cosy, allegedly confirming their relationship.
