9 Ingredients

* 5 tbsp flour

* 1 tsp dried rosemary

* 12 lamb forequarter or chump chops (not cutlets)

* 2 tbsp olive oil

* 3 red onions, finely chopped

* 15 ripe tomatoes, finely chopped

* 2 tbsp brown sugar (preferably muscovado)

* 5 sprigs of fresh rosemary, finely chopped

* 2 cups fresh peas

4 Method / Steps

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Step 2

Mix the flour and dried rosemary with a pinch of salt and pepper. Coat the lamb in the mixture. Heat oil in a non-stick frypan over high heat and fry the lamb in batches for 2 minutes on each side until browned.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the onion and tomato, then season with salt and pepper. Lay 6 of the lamb pieces in the bottom of a large, deep baking dish and top with half the tomato mixture. Sprinkle over 1 tablespoon of sugar and half the fresh rosemary. Repeat for the second layer.

Step 4

Cover with foil and bake for 3-4 hours or until the meat falls off the bone. When you are ready to serve, blanch the peas in boiling water for 1 minute, drain, and then stir them through the lamb. Serve on a bed of mashed potato.

Controversial podcaster Rea Gopane took to his Everything SA Music podcast on Tuesday 28 June to share that he feels Samthing Soweto is “manipulating people” with his depression.

Known for his controversial opinions about some of Mzansi’s top celebs, Rea Gopane weighed in on Samthing Soweto’s battle with depression, sharing that there was “something that he doesn’t like”.

“He sort of manipulates people…He’s in this whole depression phase and he’s so sad and he’s about to commit suicide and people just sort of like fall into that trap and end up sucking his d*ck,” said Gopane.

Commenting on Samthing Soweto’s latest single, Amagents, Gopane said he felt the song was “wack”.

Samthing Soweto released his highly-anticipated single AmaGents on Friday 24 June. The single is the muso’s first solo release since his 2020 album, Danko! which featured amapiano star De Mthuda and the Mzansi Youth Choir.

The media personality clapped back at body-shamers after posting a picture of herself on Instagram.

Following a stint of hosting duties at a corporate event at Sun City this week, Lerato Kganyago posted several behind-the-scenes clips on her Instagram account.

In one, the Metro FM presenter showed off a beautiful bedazzled gown down. But instead of complimenting the star on her appearance, many fans commented on Lerato’s appearance.

In fact, the comment section was inundated with talk that the media personality was expecting.

But Lerato Kganyago quickly poured cold water on the comments, clapping back: “IF I WAS PREGNANT I WOULD SAY! I’VE SAID THIS BEFORE”

Lerato Kganyago has had a tough few years facing a number of health challenges, including fibroids and fertility issues.

Last year, Lerato also opened up about experiencing her fourth miscarriage. She posted on her Instagram Stories in April 2021: “I was pregnant. I’m sure you guys saw that I was really big … then I had a miscarriage. Yes, I had a miscarriage this year again, it was my fourth miscarriage.”

Lerato added that she was hopeful her body would carry her baby to full term.

She continued: “I think I was three-four months pregnant but unfortunately I lost my baba, life goes on. This is something that I didn’t want to discuss but since we’re having [an] honesty night. * 1.2L milk

* 2 cinnamon sticks

* 2 strips of lemon rind

* 4 eggs

* 2 egg yolks

* 215g (1 cup) caster sugar

* 140g (1 cup) cornflour

* 2 tsp vanilla extract

* 120g (3/4 cup) plain flour

* Cinnamon sugar, to sprinkle

8 Method / Steps

Step 1

Grease and line a 20cm x 30cm lamington pan with baking paper.

Step 2

Place milk, cinnamon and lemon rind in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Step 3

Whisk eggs, yolks, caster sugar, cornflour and vanilla in a large bowl until well combined. Strain milk mixture over the egg mixture and whisk until combined. Discard cinnamon sticks and rind.

450g fettuccine

1 tbsp olive oil

2 medium corn cobs, husks removed, kernels cut from cob

1 red capsicum julienned into 2mm strips

2 medium zucchini (250g), green skin only, julienned into 2mm strips

2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

250g punnet cherry tomatoes, halved

1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped, plus extra leaves for garnish

1 tbsp lemon juice

1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese

1 tsp olive oil, extra, to serve

4 Method / Steps

Step 1

Bring a large saucepan of salted water to a boil and cook pasta according to packet directions. When the pasta is about 5 minutes from being al dente, heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Add the corn and capsicum and cook for 2 minutes. Add the zucchini and garlic and cook for a further 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and toss to combine, season to taste with salt and pepper.

Step 3

Drain the pasta and add to the pan of vegetables and mix well. Add the basil, lemon juice, and half the parmesan and season to taste with salt and pepper.

Step 4

To serve, using a pair of tongs, swirl a quarter of the pasta and vegetable mixture into a high mound in the centre of a pasta bowl. Repeat with the remaining pasta. Spoon any vegetables left in the pan over each bowl of pasta and garnish with the remaining parmesan and basil leaves.

Mzansi media personality Somizi Mhlongo sat down with his daughter Bahumi to discuss her surname change and her belief to not engage with ancestors on the latest episode of his reality show, which aired on Showmax on Wednesday 29 June.

Somizi Mhlongo has a 26-year-old daughter with actress Palesa Madisakwane. Palesa revealed that Somizi did not pay damages for Bahumi and therefore she took on her mom’s surname. However, she now wants to take on her father’s surname.

Palesa’s family says that traditional steps need to be followed in order for Bahumi to take on the Mhlongo surname. The media personality seems to agree, but Bahumi expressed that she does not believe in engaging with her ancestors.

The Idols SA judge then explained that Bahumi will not get his surname until the rituals are done.

“She won’t get it, shame. We’ll have to slaughter an animal. She has to speak to the ancestors if she wants the surname,” he said.

“She won’t get it by just signing some documents. We didn’t get the surname from Home Affairs, we got it from our ancestors,” he continued.

Bahumi thought it “wasn’t fair” that her parents were not supporting her decision to change her surname without the necessary traditions.

“I’ve never put my parents in a position where they had to do anything they weren’t comfortable with and I’ve been very supportive of everything,” she said.

She expressed that she has done everything to support their beliefs but she feels like it is not reciprocated.

“I think that’s the part that just kind of ticking me off, you know? I’ve been very supportive of my family and their beliefs, I’ve been there…. I’ve done everything,” she continued.

A rich beef stroganoff filling paired with a creamy sour cream mash topping – pies don’t get any better than this!

17 Ingredients

* 1kg gravy beef, cut into 3cm pieces

* 2 tbsp plain flour

* 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

* 1 brown onion, chopped

* 2 garlic cloves, crushed

* 2 tsp smoked paprika

* 2 tbsp tomato paste

* 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard

1 cup Massel beef style liquid stock

* 200g swiss brown mushrooms, thickly sliced

* 100g cup mushrooms, thickly sliced

* 1/3 cup sour cream

* Fresh chives, chopped, to serve

* Green beans, steamed, to serve

Mash topping

* 1.25kg potatoes, peeled, roughly chopped

* 1/3 cup sour cream

* 50g butter, chopped

6 Method / Steps

Step 1

Place beef in a large bowl. Add flour. Season with salt and pepper. Toss to coat.

Step 2

Heat the oil in a 10-cup-capacity, heavy-based flameproof casserole dish over medium-high heat. Cook beef, in 3 batches, for 5 to 6 minutes or until browned all over. Transfer to a heatproof bowl.

Step 3

Add onion to the dish. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until softened. Add garlic and paprika. Cook for 1 minute. Stir in tomato paste, mustard and stock. Bring to the boil. Return beef to the dish. Reduce heat to low. Cover. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 11⁄2 hours. Remove lid. Simmer for a further 1 hour (see notes). Add mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes or until beef is very tender. Remove from heat (see notes). Stir in sour cream.

Step 4

Preheat oven to 200C/180C fan-forced.

Step 5

Meanwhile make Mash Topping: Place potato in a large saucepan. Cover with cold water. Bring to the boil over high heat. Boil for 12 to 15 minutes or until the potato is very tender. Drain well. Return potato to pan. Add sour cream and half of the butter. Mash until smooth and combined. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 6

Dollop beef mixture with mash topping. Spread to cover the filling. Dot with remaining butter. Bake for 25 minutes or until the top is golden. Stand for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with chives. Serve with beans.

Monada proposed to his first partner in February 2022 after dating her for 10 years.
