A man from Zvishavane has dragged his former wife and children to court for accusing him of using mubobobo.

Mubobobo is a traditional charm in which a man has mysterious sex with women without their consent and knowledge.

Chrispen Marangwanda is seeking a protection order against his former wife Ngonidzashe, his daughter Vongai and his son Brian Mavunike Marangwanda. He is accusing them of using violence against him.

Marangwanda told Resident Magistrate Archie Wochiunga that the former wife and children are accusing him of possessing traditional charm, ‘Mubobobo’ and a goblin. They allege that this charm caused the death of Brian’s daughter.

‘Your Worship, the respondents are my children tormenting, insulting and accusing me of being a wizard, yet I have never associated with such. This is why I have approached this court seeking relief “, said Marangwanda.

He feared for his life.

Vongai dismissed the allegations as a lie.

“My father is lying before the court. We were told by one Madzibaba Moses that we need to cleanse our home, but my father is refusing to go through the process.

Brian said he was not aware of why he was in court because he was not aware of the issues.

Ngonidzashe said her former husband was avoiding the issue of cleansing the home.

Magistrate Wochiunga granted the protection order and said the respondents should stop harassing, insulting and forcing the applicant to do what Madzibaba Moses instructs them to do.

South African DJ, DJ Zinhle’s Hair Majesty company gets dragged by a lady named Thulisile Lushaba over the weekend.

In a video that has now gone viral, Thuli expressed her disappointment in a hair she bought for R 3000.

The unhappy customer had lots of complaints; from the late delivery to getting a different hair from what she ordered.

“I eventually got my order on after kicking and screaming… they used some fly-by-night (I’m sure) courier service,” she said.

She claimed to have ordered a customized and bleached wig but got something else.

If I had known the wig was so thin, this, I’m not even sure it’s 100 grams. On the DJ Zinhle website, the Hair Majesty [website] they need to specify that the hair is 100 per cent density, 180 per cent density, 200 [percent] density. They need to tell us the density of the wig so that we know exactly what we are purchasing,” Lushaba suggested.

Thuli rated the hair brand zero which triggered other women to share their experiences with the brand.

I actually rate them a 0/10. I was generous in the video. What a waste of money.”

Two men, identified by police as Klaas Muvhalo aged 50 and Thabo Thlako aged 36 have died, while a third man is fighting for his life in hospital after consuming a “soft drink” received from an unidentified motorist in Limpopo.

“The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered full investigations into the deaths of two men who died [on Saturday morning] and the third admitted in hospital. This after they allegedly consumed the substance offered to the surviving victim by an unknown motorist on Thursday,” said Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.

“It is reported that the survivor, aged 55, was amongst job-seekers in Rabe Street at about 9am in Mokopane when an unknown man driving a white motor vehicle stopped next to them and asked him if they were looking for a job.”

The male motorist allegedly gave the 55-year-old man bread and a two-litre bottle half-filled with a red substance which was assumed to be a soft drink. The motorist then drove off.

Police said when the 55-year-old job-seeker arrived at Extension 14, in Mokopane, carrying the food, his younger brother Klaas Muvhalo and Thabo Thlako drank the substance. The 55-year-old man only consumed a bit of it.

“The two [Klaas and Thlako] became highly intoxicated. Klaas’s condition deteriorated and he was taken to hospital where he died in the early hours of [Saturday] morning,” said Mojalepo.

Thlako was later found dead in a house at about 10am on Saturday morning.

“The survivor also started complaining about stomach aches and was taken to hospital where he was admitted. The police were called and immediately commenced with preliminary investigations,” said Mojapelo.

Police said the registration numbers and the type of vehicle driven by the motorist are unknown at this stage.

The post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Durban Kwaito artist Mampintsha has been informed by his fans to consider changing his stage name. The fans believe Mandla Maphumulo’s stage name (Mampintsha) no longer suits his character as the Kwaito star has shed a lot of weight.

Mampintsha in IsiZulu refers to a chubby built person who takes over all the space. At the height of his career under the much-loved group Big Nuz his stage name complemented his physic and character. However, lately, his fans aren’t much pleased as his stage name misrepresents his new look.

The fans made this suggestion after Mampintsha and Danger (Big Nuz) shared a photograph together on social media at a listening session in Johannesburg. Big Nuz eJozi testing new songs. Instead of looking forward to the music, fans were more concerned about Mampintsha’s weight.

Sboniso Nzimande said: “You need to come with a new name for yourself now. The Mampintsha has become ‘loose’” Nhlanhla Mdanda said: “Change your name to Maxega now”. Fanelwe Mkhwanamubi said: “If getting married leaves you like this, the whole concept can rather miss me”.

Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha

Big Nuz, a South African Kwaito trio from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal was founded in 2002. The group was composed of three members known by their stage names Mampintsha, Danger and the late R Mashesha who passed away in 2015.

Following R Mashesha’s passing, the group experienced turbulence and eventually, the remaining members went their separate ways to forge their solo careers.

Mampintsha opened West Ink music label which introduced the likes of Babes Wodumo and Distruction Boyz to the music scene. Danger moved on to work with L’vovo and also start his own record label which was nothing compared to West Ink.

Of late the duo seem to be rekindling their spark – working together and giving what fans always wanted. Their latest project is being cooked in Johannesburg where they are working with Amapiano god Kabza de Small.

Chamisa rules out protests over Job Sikhala

CCC leader Nelson Chamisa has said his party is not a violent and will never engage in any mayhem activities for the release of jailed party members.

The opposition leader also scorned at ruling Zanu-PF party claims that he was behind sensational allegations by Australia-based Zimbabwean Susan Mutami who claimed to have been raped as a minor by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

He was addressing thousands of supporters in Masvingo during a thank you rally following party’s victory in the recently held by-elections.

Chamisa has faced criticism over the party’s failure to press more forcefully for the release of jailed legislators Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole together with a dozen other party activists.

They were arrested for allegedly inciting public violence mid-June this year and have had several bail applications rejected by the courts.

“We are bringing a different type of politics in this country,” said the CCC leader on Sunday.

“Some people have been saying Chamisa tell people to go into the streets for violence because they listen to you. You are the leader, and they will do anything you tell them.

“I said no, God has no confusion, he will be telling me what to do. Please do not force me to do what I have not been told to do yet.

He added; “I will do it when the time is right, I will lead.

“We are not a violent party. We do not do violent politics. We only do peace politics, developmental politics, transformation politics.”

Sikhala and Sithole together with the other CCC activists were arrested over the violence which rocked the funeral wake and memorial services for slain party member Moreblessing Ali.

They have been denied bail by the courts repeatedly while a firm of international human rights lawyers which offered to represent them was reportedly blocked by the Government.

He said his party party has engaged the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and African Union (AU) concerning the abuse of the courts by the ruling Zanu PF party.

“Right now, Sikhala, Sithole and our other members are in prison because they wanted justice for Moreblessing Ali. They do not deserve to be in prison, they must be released, bail is a right for everyone,” he said.

“This shows there is a problem in this country, no one must be in prison if not proven guilty. We respect our courts, but we expect them to be constitutional, we have told SADC and AU that the law is being used for political persecution.”

Police recruits arrested for forging ‘O’ Level certificates

Several police recruits were arrested for allegedly forging their ordinary level (O level) certificates with the help of a Zimbabwe School Examinations Council employee.

The issue came out when Marian Mawonera (22) appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda on Saturday charged with fraud.

Mawonera was remanded in custody to today for bail application. The complainant is the State, represented by Siphosami Tshuma, a Superintendent in the Zimbabwe Republic Police stationed at the Police General Headquarters Recruiting section.

Mawonera is undergoing police initial training at ZRP Mkushi Training Depot.

Allegations are that on April 18, 2021, the police flighted an advertisement in newspapers inviting individuals who met police recruitment criteria to
apply.

The accused was among many individuals who applied and included a Zimsec Ordinary Level certificate for November 2017 with two Ordinary Level passes: English Language C and Mathematics A.

Mawonera was subsequently attested into the police force on November 9, 2021 and she started training at Mkushi Training Depot.

The police then sent her O Level certificates to Zimsec for verification.

In May 2022, the Zimbabwe Republic Police received results from the examinations body indicating that the accused had filed a forged certificate for November 2017 examination because her official results were a “D” in the English Language and an “A” in Mathematics.

The State alleged that as a result of this misrepresentation, it suffered actual prejudice of $179 571,48 and US$600 in the form of salaries paid to the accused.

Other recruits, William Chikumbirike and Obert Chirape appeared before the same magistrate charged with a similar crime, while Donald Muchawo, a Zimsec employee, was in the dock for abetting the crime.

The accused were granted $10 000 bail each.

Notorious armed robber acquitted

A notorious armed robber with 20 pending cases was last Friday acquitted of money laundering charges alongside his wife after a Harare magistrate found him not guilty of the crime.

On Friday, magistrate Shane Kubonera ruled that the State had failed to prove a case against Godfrey Josi (41) and his wife Juliet Gavaza (36).

The State was represented by Marian Furidze.

It was alleged that during the period extending from 2017 to June 2021, Josi was engaged in criminal activities, including armed robberies in and around Harare with accomplices.

They allegedly robbed different persons of huge sums of cash.

Josi and Gavaza allegedly benefited from the proceeds of their crimes.

Other properties they acquired include a Mercedes Benz C180 from Joseph Matanda for US$7 000, a plot measuring 2,5 hectares at Kent Farm in Mhondoro for US$1 200 where they allegedly built a five-roomed house.

Josi also bought 10 heads of cattle from Bothwell Musandida for US$3 400, and household furniture.

The properties were held as exhibits and produced as evidence in court. While testifying in court, a police detective only named as Saurowe, said it was not Josi’s first time to be arrested on armed robbery charges.

He submitted several other cases that Josi was facing.

But the magistrate ruled that the accused person was assaulted by the police to force him to admit to the armed robbery charges.

Kubonera also refused to accept the submission of some exhibits in court which the police claimed had been recovered from Josi.

The police said the exhibits linked Josi to the offence and others still pending before the courts.

Measles outbreak hits Zimbabwe

Government has blamed the current measles outbreak that has hit the country on religious sects whose beliefs are against its vaccination policies, it has emerged.

The public has since been warned of the outbreak that has so far claimed the lives of 80 children.

Cases of the outbreak were first detected on April 10 this year in Manicaland Province a statement from Jasper Chimedza the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Child Care said.

“The Ministry of Health and Child Care wishes to inform the public that the ongoing outbreak of measles which was first reported on the 10th of April 2022 in Mutasa District of Manicaland Province has since spread nationwide following church gatherings.

“These gatherings which were attended by people from different provinces of the country with unknown vaccination status has led to the spread of measles to previously unaffected areas.”

“The Ministry of Health and Child Care would like to point out that most cases reported are among children aged 6 months to 15 years from religious sects who are not vaccinated against measles due to religious beliefs,” it read.

According to MoHCC, as of last Thursday, 1 036 suspected cases, 125 laboratory confirmed cases and 80 deaths have been reported since the onset of the outbreak.

The current Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is 6.9% while Manicaland constitutes the highest number of cases, that is 356 and 45 deaths.

However, government says it has activated countrywide rapid response teams (RRT) to respond to the outbreak of the disease and embarked on a massive vaccination drive to contain the disease.

Measles is a deadly disease which commonly affects children and is spread through sneezing, coughing and touching an affected person.

Symptoms for measles include white spots inside cheeks, fever, cough and watery eyes.
