Mzansi musician, Dr. Malinga has expressed gratitude to the various celebrities who extended a helping hand after revealing that SARS has wiped his house clean.

Following his emotional interview on Podcast and Chill with MacG, where he spoke about his financial problems and issues with South African Revenue Services (SARS), Dr. Malinga had a few celebrities reaching out to help him and he is grateful.

Dr. Malinga thanked all these celebrities for their selfless act of kindness and they are Black Coffee, Oskido, Busiswa, Kabza De Small, Julius Malema, Makhadzi, and of course his fans.

Fighting back his tears, Dr. Malinga spoke about how SARS seized and auctioned his furniture in his presence. He said his place is empty because of this and explained that the effects of COVID-19 put him in this position.

The award-winning muso, said he sought the help of people he used to work with and the arts and culture minister, Nathi Mthethwa but nobody bothered to help him.

“After two years, SARS came. I called Minister Nathi Mthethwa, we talked. Sometimes when I am hungry don’t advise that you have to plough, just dish out for me. I am not bath mouthing him, I am talking about what happened. I was calling people that I worked with, but they didn’t come to my rescue,” he said. “They took everything. When you enter my house, if you don’t have a heart, you will laugh. My house is empty,” he said.

Dr. Malinga revealed that in total he owes SARS R500 000.

“Auction is painful. I was there, I went there, and then I wanted to say ‘please is not like I don’t want to pay, I don’t have money. I am not trending. I don’t have songs. I am not being called at gigs and I can’t force people to book me,” he said.

“Every time I give people, they don’t come for me” He continued “Musa Khawula announced that everything had been taken from me, I was fine about that before because they took them in July and I thought I could recover whatever was due to SARS but I couldn’t because money is not coming in,” he added.

Another celebrity who recently received help from people is Zahara. She too owed the bank some money and was on the brink of being homeless as her house was about to get auctioned.

“A month back your Country Girl came out and spoke about how she’s on the verge of losing her house and asked for Donations in coming up with the R350 000 the bank wanted. Your Country Girl came out and spoke about her financial problems to show ownership of her life moving forward.

“Thank you to each and every individual who donated and helped out, your contributions were very helpful.. Nenze njalo nakwabanye. The auction that was scheduled tomorrow is canceled. Thank you for your donations and prayers,” she captioned the post.

Residents from Karoi ward 5 have raised a public outcry over toxic smoke from a council dumpsite, saying it exposed them to various diseases.

Air pollution is a public health concern, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Residents made a passionate appeal to the responsible authorities including town council, Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and other government departments to remove the dumpsite from their residential area.

Victor Chaparira expressed public health safety concerns in the farming town’s high density area of Chikangwe.

“We are calling upon responsible authorities to ensure that our health and safety are considered as a basic human rights matter,” Chaparira said.

“We are suffering and few can afford medical checks over the infections caused by the inferno.

Another resident Miller Dube said: “The only permanent solution lies in removing the dumpsite near residential areas for our own safety.”

Rumbidzai Bakasa said she is now asthmatic after inhaling the toxic smoke.

Suspected petrol bomb explodes at Chamisa’s rally

A suspected bomb has just exploded at the venue where Nelson Chamisa led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is having its rally.

The explosion occurred as Chamisa’s motorcade was about to enter Gadzema stadium in Chinhoyi.

Suspected Zanu-PF activists staged a movie-style drive past the venue and detonated explosives sending panic among the gathered crowd.

The loud explosion shook the grounds.

Eyewitnesses said, “a man in a silver car dropped ‘something’ and a few minutes later it exploded.”

Interim CCC national organiser Amos Chibaya calmed the potentially chaotic situation and told supporters that desperate Zanu-PF activists wanted to destabilise the party’s thank you rally.

The party is having its thank you rally after winning the recent by- elections.

CCC bagged five out of the six local authority by elections in Chinhoyi’s Ward 2, 3, 8, 12 and 14, where its candidates Patricia Chibaya, Richard Vhitirinyu, Mukudzei Chigumbura, Dyke Makumbi and Chipo Mhlotswa romped to victory.

The rally is however going on and Chamisa is expected to address his party supporters soon.

4 convicted for calling police officers Mnangagwa’s dogs

Four people were on Friday convicted for insulting police officers, saying they were President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s dogs.

Nobody Makoni, Kudzai Sachiwo, Jacob Chigodora and Batsirai Sorawere were charged with criminal insult when they appeared before Harare magistrate Barbra Mateko.

They were ordered to pay a fine of $30 000 each.

Chipo Mungoshi and Memory Chikodze who were charged alongside the quartet were acquitted by the same magistrate.

The six, who all pleaded not guilty to the offence, were represented by Noble Chinhanu of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum.

It is alleged that some time last year in Epworth the accused who were members of the then opposition MDC Alliance party, were gathered for a meeting.

They saw police officers coming towards them to disperse them.

The activists shouted at them saying: “You police officers are Mnangagwa’s dogs. You are being used, you will die suffering”.

In defence, Chinhanu said it was actually a compliment for cops to be called Mnangagwa’s dogs because it described their loyalty to serving the president, the same way dogs are to their masters.

Babes Wodumo claps back at trolls

Gqom queen, Babes Wodumo has set the record straight and educated her trolls on what caused her weight loss. Commenting under radio personality Jacinta Ngobese’s Facebook post, Babes said it hurts to see people, mostly women making fun of her weight loss which occurred during and after her pregnancy.

There is a recent picture of Babes while visiting Ukhozi FM studios. In the pictures she wore a brown blazer, brown skirt, and a cream white polo neck with brown boots and a simple hairdo but it was her overall appearance that got her trolled.

Jacinta spoke about how her weight loss subjected her to bullying and how that made her feel. She said when she was 8 months pregnant, she lost a lot of weight because of depression.

“This is a Photo of me from 11 years ago when I was 8 months pregnant with my son! YES… I’m pregnant in this photo but because I was so severely depressed instead of gaining weight, I lost weight drastically.

“I looked terribly sick and I had told myself then that should I ever fall pregnant again I would make sure it’s with a kind and caring man that would spoil me and treat me like I’m about to bring a treasure into this world, it’s always been my dream to experience that unconditional love because I’m carrying a precious baby, ” she continued in her post.

She said people laughed at her but had received a lot of support from other people.

She then called out the people who are making fun of Babes Wodumo unprovoked, “So the people who are making fun of Babes its because they don’t know how difficult being a mother is and how much of yourself you lose during that time and all you need is to be surrounded with love and kindness and people who care about you so you can at least have beautiful memories of that time.

“I’m actually crying as I type this because we all go through so much, sometimes all you need is to be okay and happy and surrounded with love. Please don’t make fun of someone else’s situation just because you don’t understand it or you have never gone through such. . I wish Babes all the love and prosperity in the world. Love and Light. ”

Babes Wodumo then responded to the post and pointed out how it’s mostly women who speak vile things to her.

“I lost weight during my pregnancy and after birth I lost more weight. It hurts to see women making fun of how I look,” she said. “Is it because I’m a celebrity or because I’m a young woman who is finding her feet in motherhood? I am enjoying motherhood and I don’t know what they want from me.

“Others are quick to judge saying I am sick, I need help or I am taking drugs, just because I had a baby and my body is still recovering…I am not stressing about my weight loss because some of my friends and my sister went through the same thing.”

Musa Khawula gets kicked out of a popular night club in Sandton – Watch

Musa Khawula was invited to the recently held DSTV Content Creator Awards. However, while tweeps might have expected that Khawula would get it from all Mzansi celebrities which were present at the festivities, nothing was further from the truth. It seems that the only other entity that is not afraid of social media backlash from their treatment of Khawula is Sandton celebrity hotspot, Monarch.

As always with Musa Khawula commentary on Twitter, we expect some shade in his descriptions of the events of the night, and he did not disappoint. However, it was our Mzansi celebrities who were present that seemed to disappoint. The biggest of which was Lasizwe Dambuza.

Dambuza who was an attendee at the Content Creator has been vocal over his disdain over Khawula initially labelling him a “pathological liar” for allegedly fabricating that Dambuza was dating YouTuber and businessman, Jabu Brown. Moreover, when Khawula suggested that Lasizwe did not deserve to get on Forbes 30 under 30. But looking at the interaction during the event, you would not know that because Dambuza was all smiles and giggles with Khawula. A surprise more so as Khawula has made his best friend’s life, Mihlali, a living hell on social media.

The only person who seemed bothered by Musa Khawula’s commentary is Pabi Cooper. Scheduled as the closing performance of the event. Khawula used all of his chest to suggest that Cooper, who is currently one of the hottest acts, can’t dance to save her life (the last part was added for jokes). Pabi might have not confronted him there, but she did throw some shade via Twitter.

On Twitter, tweeps wanted to see Moshe Ndiki return. More so as Khawula seemed to attempt to instigate another beat down with his salty tweet about Ndiki.

However, our MVP for the night seems to have been popular celebrity nighttime hotspot, Monarch, in Sandton.

While everyone else seems to have been chummy with Khawula in fear of what he might tweet. The eatery and club frequented by all your faves and influencers, allegedly did not waste time prohibiting Khawula from even entering. Their reasoning was simple, “they know him.”

Seemingly, the nighttime hotspot was aware that there were happenings in the club that was going that Khawula was not meant to see. A fair assumption if you have ever been or heard of what happens in Monarch. It is not about what Khawula seems to suggest, but the hotspot is one of the exclusive nightspots where everyone is allowed some form of anonymity.

Houses and vehicles swept away as dam wall bursts

Houses and vehicles were swept away and several residents injured early on Sunday when the wall of a dam burst in the mining town of Jagersfontein in the Free State.

A pregnant woman was among at least 35 people reported to have been injured and at least one death was confirmed. The deluge of water and mud knocked out electricity in the town, washed away livestock and a number of people were reported missing.

Premier Sisi Ntombela said she was shocked by news of the incident which happened at about 6am.

Residents in affected areas were evacuated.

Free State emergency medical services spokesperson Sipho Towa said at least 35 people had been hospitalised with minor injuries.

“There is also a pregnant woman among them, who is stable,” he said.

Towa said search and rescue efforts were ongoing. A disaster management team was assessing the damage.

“The water has swept away houses and cars. However, the provincial government has activated the disaster management team and the joint operation centre to determine the extent of the disaster and also carry out evacuation processes where necessary,” said the premier’s spokesperson Palesa Chubisi.

Humanitarian aid organisation Gift of the Givers received requests for assistance from the office of the premier, police and local community.

Founder Imtiaz Sooliman said the area of Charlesville appeared to be worst affected. “Houses, personal belongings and many sheep have been washed away … and community members are missing. The cellphone towers have been damaged affecting communication, there is no electricity and not a drop of drinkable water. Some of the roads have been cut off.”

A local church opened its doors for shelter and accommodation.

“Immediate requirements include bottled water, bulk food for cooking, blankets, mattresses, clothing, hygiene items, sanitary pads and diapers. Fodder for sheep will also be required. Gift of the Givers teams are packing supplies at Bethlehem, Graaff-Reinet, Gqeberha and Cape Town, with the first delivery expected later today in Jagersfontein,” said Sooliman.

He said the heads of provincial disaster management, Markus Butler and Justin Colbert, were Gift of the Givers search and rescue team members. “We will be getting updates directly from them once the network is functional. Arrangements will be made to provide fodder for the sheep.”

Eskom said it had lost bulk supply to Centlec, the electricity distributor responsible for the town, after a substation was engulfed by mud.

“Due to the current situation in the Jagersfontein area and inaccessibility of our substation, it is impossible to estimate when supply will be restored or to determine the extent of the damage.

“Since Eskom’s telecommunication system is also affected by the flood, the impact on surrounding networks is still unclear …

“We wish to express our sincere condolences to those affected by this catastrophic event and commend emergency services for their swift response,” the power provider said.

The department of education was liaising with district officials and principals. “Our preliminary report thus far indicates that no educational facilities were affected. The social development district offices are evacuating people in the affected areas to nearby farms,” said Chubisi.

She said humanitarian organisations, including Meals on Wheels and SA Red Cross, among others, were on the ground assessing how many people were affected and what their basic needs were.

“Sassa has also deployed officials to the area. The department will be starting with psychosocial services for all affected residents. A detailed report on the circumstances surrounding the incident will be released upon compilation.”

United Kingdom deports 9 more Zimbabweans

$

Another batch of nine Zimbabweans was deported from the United Kingdom last Thursday.

The deportation occurred barely a year after the arrival of another group of 50 who have since integrated with their families and relatives.

Deportations mean that the British government now believes the Second Republic has turned the country into a safe destination for Zimbabweans that London is obliged to deport.

An agreement was signed in June last year acknowledging that deported Zimbabweans would be treated properly on their return.

The UK Borders Act allows the British government to deport any foreigner who has received a jail term of at least 12 months unless some exception applies.

On arrival back in Zimbabwe, they are assisted to integrate into their families and start on a clean sheet since the offences for which they were jailed occurred in Britain.

Mr Livit Magejo of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade confirmed the arrival.

“We received nine more deportees and they have since reunited with their families,” he said.

The British government last year deported 50 Zimbabweans when Covid-19 was at its peak.

However, some raised objections with the courts and were allowed to appeal, while some were allegedly affected by Covid-19 in some detention centres.

The British government deports foreign nationals, including Zimbabweans, released from detention after serving jail terms for a range of offences.

Deportation of foreign criminals is subject to several exceptions, including the European Convention on Human Rights or the UK’s obligations under the Refugee Convention.

All those deported have been provided with the opportunity to raise claims, including asylum and human rights claims before their deportation.

Individuals are only returned to their country of origin.

CCC supporters yesterday beat up two journalists that wanted to cover the party’s rally addressed by Nelson Chamisa at Gadzema Stadium in Chinhoyi.

News Hawks’ Ruvimbo Muchenje and Voice of America’s Nunurai Jena were humiliated and harassed as they tried to gain access into the stadium.

In a statement, the Young Journalists Association (YOJA) confirmed.

“Muchenje who is a multimedia journalist was trying to find her way into the stadium and got herself beaten up by party security who attempted to block her from entering.

“She was forced on to the ground and made to roll, leaving her dress torn,” said YOJA secretary-general, Phil Jambaya.

YOJA condemned the barbaric act by CCC supporters and called upon the party to apologise.

Jena was attacked on allegations of reporting negatively about CCC.

Efforts to get a comment from CCC’s national organiser, Mr Amos Chibaya, and provincial chairman Mr Ralph Magunje were futile until the time of going to print.

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zimbabwe chapter, Nyasha Nyakunu, confirmed getting the allegations and said he was going to issue a statement.

Chamisa declares that he will win Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections

CCC leader, Nelson Chamisa, has expressed confidence in winning the 2023 presidential elections, in which he would defeat incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa, even without electoral reforms.

Addressing hundreds of CCC supporters at Gadzema Grounds in Chinhoyi Sunday, the maverick opposition politician said his new party would win next year’s harmonised polls “against all odds”, with or without electoral reforms.

He said CCC was engaging the Southern African Development Community (SADC), African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN) to send observer missions to ensure transparency in the conduct of the watershed plebiscites.

“Against all odds, we are going to win elections. God is going to allow it, we are going to govern. Some are asking how we will win polls, but l have said we have done it before. The mistake we made in 2018 is that we won by a small margin,” said Chamisa.

“Let everyone who believes in CCC register to vote. Winning by a small margin allows them to tamper with poll results.

“This time around l won’t allow him to steal your vote, l will be waiting at the gates and waltz into the State House as soon as results are announced… whitewash, whitewash,” said Chamisa, amid wild cheers from the multitudes who attended the event.

“This time around, we want to beat him hands down, by a wide margin, a big margin. Your vote is the gun,” he emphasised.

CCC leader warned his charges against engaging in corruption, but rally behind the party’s economic blueprint dubbed the ‘New Great Zimbabwe Plan’ to ensure resuscitation of various sectors, including security, education, health, agriculture and mining to bring prosperity to the nation. The charismatic opposition politician said his party does not tolerate graft among elected public officials.

He thanked the electorate for re-electing CCC councillors after their unceremonious expulsion by MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora for ceasing to be members of the party.

“You voted in the by elections and did shine, without money and no T-shirts, but you went on to vote for CCC. Come 2023, we want to finish him (Mnangagwa) off.”

Chamisa urged CCC stalwarts to disregard calls for formation of party structures, saying detractors were agitating for the process in a bid to infiltrate and destabilise the new movement.

“We are a citizens’ movement, we are a new team, no one has a position, the citizens will appoint leaders, we are putting citizens first in everything we do.”

Chamisa added the “Yellow Revolution” as exemplified by CCC’s colour theme was not about leadership positions, but “an ideological disposition and a philosophical set-up.”

The party held Sunday’s ‘thank you’ rally after winning the recent by- elections in five out of six Chinhoyi urban wards.

CCC bagged Chinhoyi’s Ward 2, 3, 8, 12 and 14, where its candidates Patricia Chibaya, Richard Vhitirinyu, Mukudzei Chigumbura, Dyke Makumbi and Chipo Mhlotswa romped to victory.

CCC lost Ward 4, where its candidate, Brighton Mhizha lost to Zanu-PF’s Ignatius Zvigadza.

DJ Zinhle has shared her plans to have a big wedding next year.

On the latest episode of DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected, the businesswoman revealed her plans to wed Bongani “Mörda” Mahosana while on holiday with her friends, and again in a meeting with her sister.

“The wedding is going to be stunning because I was never ever meant to get married. My friends are gonna be living their best lives. Can you imagine Thabiet? Can you imagine Brandon, Moozlie? Sho, it’s going to be a mess!” she said in her video diaries.

“So I’m excited but we have a big project ahead. We have to build this home for our children and then, only then, we can think about the wedding.”

Zinhle told her friends she planned to go the whole nine yards on her special day.

“I just want to give my husband that moment. I feel like Bongani deserves a good wedding party.”

Zinhle revealed the news that she accepted Mörda’s proposal when he asked for her hand in marriage in episode 1 of season 2 of DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected when it aired earlier in August.

“Bongani and his family came to my family home to negotiate my bride price and we decided that it should be a small thing with just family and Bongani’s family,” she said.

“I just never had ambitions to get married. I never wanted it, I never felt like I was with anyone I wanted to marry, but Bongani and I spent a lot of time talking about it, thinking about what we want to do.

“I’m excited to be his wife. I’m excited to try something I never thought would happen for me.”
