Police have arrested three suspected armed robbers who got away with 11, 6 kgs of gold belonging to How Mine in a heist which took place on Tuesday.

Thirteen armed robbers, Tuesday, pounced on a security convoy transporting gold from How Mine to Fidelity Printers in Harare.

The stolen gold was estimated to be worth US$650,000.

Police have so far nabbed three suspects in connection with the said heist.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Antony Moyo (39), Wilson Mutandwa (24) and Ernest Mutandwa (30) in connection with an armed robbery case which occurred on 04th October 2022 at the 21 km peg along Bulawayo-How Mine Road, Douglasdale, Bulawayo, where 11.6 kgs of gold on transit from How Mine to Fidelity Printers, Bulawayo and four firearms were stolen,” said police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi in a statement released Wednesday afternoon.

According to Nyathi, on October 5, 2022, police received information that some of the stolen items were abandoned at a house under construction along Folly Road, West Summerton, Bulawayo.

“Detectives reacted to the report and recovered car keys, three 9mmm spent cartridges, a black glove, a 303 rifle loaded with eight live rounds and three empty metal boxes.

“Further investigations by the police established that the South African registered Nissan NP 300 single cab vehicle, registration number HR30XJGP, which was abandoned by the suspects at the scene, belongs to Ximba Nkosilathi, also known as Tonderai Vumbunu and was at times seen being driven by Antony Moyo,” said Nyathi.

In a series of events, police arrested Moyo who implicated Wilson the Mutandwas, who were subsequently arrested.

Earnest was apprehended in Beitbridge while attempting to flee to South Africa.

Prior reports claimed that robbers in a Toyota GD6, a Nissan March and Nissan Hard body single cab intercepted the mine security convoy, overwhelming the guards who in turn surrendered.

The gunmen took 11,6kgs of gold and firearms, jumped into their vehicles before another security car, a Toyota Fortuner, arrived at the crime scene and pursued them, riddling the escape cars with bullets before losing their tail.

Popular comedienne Madam Boss and her husband Ngoni Munetsiwa’s eight-year marriage could be heading for a crash after the latter impregnated his mistress.

Reports say Madam Boss on Monday clashed with the mistress, Ngonidzashe Evangelista Zhou, after finding out that Munetsiwa had hidden her at their other matrimonial Chitungwiza home.

H-metro revealed that Madam Boss assaulted Zhou, took her mobile phone and deleted all photographs of her husband and the lover.

Madam Boss told the publication that she felt betrayed by Munetsiwa and was not prepared to accommodate Evangelista.

“I could not stomach Evangelista staying at my matrimonial house,” said Madam Boss.

“My sisters-in-law supported me and were also shocked to learn that Ngoni had hidden his pregnant lover at our house.

“I do not know if Ngoni is responsible for Evangelista’s pregnancy, but she vowed not to leave my husband and my house.

“I am expecting Ngoni to clean his dirt and not force me to call it quits.

“I have been quiet for a long time about these allegations, but Evangelista treated me like Ngoni’s mistress.

“She uttered provocative words in front of me and my sisters-in-law, but I remained calm and gave her money to buy food,” said Madam Boss.

Ngoni admitted to bedding Evangelista and begged for time to clear his mess.

“The matter is now being handled by the family,” said Ngoni.

* 1/2 large head (about 150g) broccoli

* 75g (1/2 cup) self-raising flour

* 1 egg

* 80ml (1/3 cup) milk

* 300g can corn kernels, rinsed, drained

* 100g haloumi, coarsely grated

* 2 tbsp chopped fresh chives

* 1 tsp finely grated lemon rind

* 60ml (1/4 cup) olive oil

* Baby spinach, to serve

* Sliced avocado, to serve

* Halved grape tomatoes, to serve

* Sweet chilli sauce, strained, to serve

6 Method / Steps

Step 1

Use a large sharp knife to cut broccoli into large pieces, including the stem. Place in a food processor. Pulse, scraping down the side occasionally, until finely chopped.

Step 2

Place the self-raising flour and egg in a large bowl. Gradually pour in the milk, whisking, until the mixture is well combined and smooth.

Step 3

Add the broccoli, corn, haloumi, chives and lemon rind to the flour mixture. Season. Use a wooden spoon to stir until well combined.

Step 4

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add 1/4 cupful of the fritter mixture. Use the back of a spoon to flatten slightly.

Step 5

Cook the fritters for 2 minutes or until golden. Use an egg lifter to carefully turn and cook for a further 2 minutes or until golden and cooked through.

Step 6

Transfer to a plate lined with a paper towel. Repeat in 2 more batches with the remaining oil and mixture to make 8 fritters in total. Serve with spinach, avocado, tomato and sauce.

It is official! Big Brother Mzansi couple, Thato Immaculate and Gash1, are man and wife. Thato confirmed the news to the People’s Paper and said she’s now Mrs Mthombeni.

The couple, whose real names are Thato Mokoena (28) and Gashwan Mthombeni (28), met on this year’s season of the reality show and started dating on-screen.

In the house, they both had different love interests at first and only started dating a few days before Thato was evicted from the house, leaving her man behind.

Gash1 left the house when the season ended in April, and they continued with their relationship outside.

They have been showing off their relationship on social media since then, and even started a YouTube channel. Together, their fans call them Thash1, which is a combination of their names.

Thato and Gash1 sparked marriage rumours last week when they announced on the channel that they took a major step in their relationship, but didn’t specify what the step was.

Since then, they’ve been referring to each other as husband and wife on social media.

Thato said she won’t say much for now.

“All I can reveal is that the two families have come together. And yes, I am Thato Mthombeni,” she said.

She said for now, she’s still using her names until the process of being a wife has been concluded.

“Becoming a Mrs takes time. There are processes. It’s a journey and we’ve taken the first big step,” said Thato.

“For now, I’ll be using my two names, Thato Immaculate.

“In fact, I’ve been using those names and not my surname on social media because I knew my surname would change.”

Zanu-PF has given the nod to socialite Mike Chimombe’s candidature to stand in the weekend elections for the ruling party’s Central Committee (CC).

The polls are being fiercely contested amid allegations of vote buying, rigging and intimidation.

Chimombe, popularly known as Boss Mike, was recently arrested for allegedly defrauding a Harare man of US$16,500 in a botched residential stand deal. He is out of custody on bail.

According to a leaked Zanu-PF Mashonaland West list submitted and endorsed by the party’s Politburo at its Wednesday meeting held in Harare, Chimombe will fight it out for one of the four Makonde district slots alongside equally wealthy businessmen and former councillors, Charles Mutisi and Simba Kanzou.

Information Deputy Minister, Kindness Paradza also made it onto the list of successful candidates to challenge incumbent Makonde CC member, Phineas Makumbe in one of the impending plebiscites.

According to sources, Paradza and Local Government Deputy Minister, Marian Chombo of Zvimba North, both have President Emmerson Mnangagwa to thank after he reportedly intervened to save them from being labelled “rebels” and removal from the contestants’ list for their previous flirtations with opposition parties.

Paradza once joined yester-year finance minister Simba Makoni’s Mavambo/Kusile/ Dawn party, while Chombo was a top-ranking official in the National Patriotic Front (NPF) led by embittered former vice president, Joice Mujuru.

Another top Zanu-PF official and former Cabinet minister, Prisca Mupfumira accused of grand corruption involving over US$90million at the National Social Security Authority (NSSA), will contest the Makonde women’s quota slot against Martha Tafirenyika, who according to sources initially had her curriculum vitae (CV) suspiciously going missing.

In an interesting turn of events, some key Zanu-PF members, including outspoken Chegutu West lawmaker Dexter Nduna, former information deputy minister Bright Matonga and ex-finance deputy minister Terrence Mukupe had their candidatures disapproved for various reasons.

“Nduna was disqualified for pending disciplinary matters and the vetting panel recommended him to be enrolled at the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology in order to whip the rebellious MP into line,” a Zanu-PF insider told NewZimbabwe.com Wednesday.

“Matonga wanted to contest for the Mhondoro-Ngezi slot but had his CV thrown out for being a security threat while Mukupe was not cleared because he didn’t have a transfer letter from his former Harare province.”

Former Hurungwe legislator, Franco Ndambakuwa was reportedly disqualified due to a rape conviction.

Other unsuccessful candidates were Clever Kunonga of Chegutu West, who was struck off the list for his history in the opposition NPF, while Tsikayi Sungano, who wanted to contest against former health minister, Douglas Mombeshora in the Mhangura polls, was barred for failing to meet the minimum five years threshold at senior party level.

Tricksters are trying to tarnish Makhadzi’s good name. On Saturday, 1 October, she had a successful one-woman show at Makhuvha Stadium in Limpopo.

But on the event, certain event organizers were already using Makhadzi’s brand to market their own events.

They set their general tickets at R100 and R300 for VIP.

But the poster did not disclose the venue except that Spotless Car Wash would be presenting this after party.

But Makhadzi’s management came out guns blazing and distanced Makhadzi from this event.

Advocate Nkateko Maluleke wrote: “Open Mic has warned people who use Makhadzi to promote their events. The warning follows Makhadzi’s one-woman show held at Makhuvha Stadium in Limpopo over the weekend. But another event organizer, also advertised its event titled, Official Party of the Makhadzi Woman show.”

This warning was not welcomed by some of Makhadzi’s fans as they felt Open Mic was controlling Makhadzi.

Mulaudzi Ntavhanyeni said: “They didn’t say she will attend, it’s just an honour after she did one woman show.”

Tebogo Moloko wrote: “Mulaudzi Ntavhanyeni Marubini lol I don’t know the thing but I agree with you she is not mentioned as a performer in the poster Open Mic must just chill.”

To which Mpho Yanga responded: “I think Mulaudzi and Tebogo you are not reading to understand. It’s clear you read to respond “Read the poster and Open Mic response. The poster says official and Open Mic is clarifying on that. Plus no one is allowed to just use a brand without approval.”

The publication approached one of the event organizers, Andani Kone, but he refused to comment.

Maluleke told the publication that they became aware of the advert before the one-woman show.

“There was no after-party and no one approached us about it. We had to issue the warning because there’s been bad reports about Makhadzi not pitching to events, so we wanted to warn people that Makhadzi was not part of this after-party. We do not appreciate the fact that Makhadzi’s picture was used without consent. They wanted to mislead the public and we were obliged to warn people,” he said.

Efforts to secure bail by Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) lawmakers Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole have hit a snag after Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere dismissed their application which cited changed circumstances.

Through defence lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa, the duo had approached the magistrates’ court in a fifth attempt to acquire bail under changed circumstances.

The legislators had argued that there has been a passage of time without trial.

They also accused the courts of being political, and cited the existence of a petition signed by citizens and addressed to President Emmerson Mnangagwa seeking their release from Prison.

The State, in response, argued that the two should remain locked up because their trial date has already been set.

In his ruling, Manuwere said there had been no changed circumstances warranting granting Sikhala and Sithole bail.

“The decision to grant or not to grant bail cannot and must not be directed by public perception, opinion and clamour,” said the magistrate.

“To grant one bail based on public perception, opinion and clamour which are not factual but purely speculative. This is not only unconstitutional but public speculation, opinion and clamour are not at all changed circumstances.

“There are no changed circumstances which warrant an admission of bail,” said Taurai Manuwere.

Sikhala and Sithole have endured nearly four months of incarceration over allegations of inciting public violence after the death of opposition supporter Moreblessing Ali.

The opposition argues that the arrest of the legislators is politically motivated, accusing the government of stifling its party.

“I should make it abundantly clear that this court is not a political court. It refuses to be dragged into political issues as the defence seeks. It is independent and impartial,” read Manuwere’s ruling further.

The opposition legislators will mount another application for bail with a ruling expected to be delivered on the 14th of October.

Multi-award winning social media personality Tarisai “Madam Boss” Chikocho reportedly collapsed during a family meeting that was held to address a pandemonium triggered by her husband’s extramarital affair.

At a meeting held in Chitungwiza on Tuesday, H-metro revealed that Madam Boss collapsed as her husband, Ngoni Munetsiwa, begged for her to allow his pregnant lover, Evangelista Zhou, to remain at their matrimonial house in Seke, until she finds alternative accommodation.

The meeting followed Evangelista’s decision to apply for a peace order against Madam Boss. Munetsiwa and his sisters tried to persuade her into giving Evangelista a period of time to vacate their Seke home. In return, Ngoni was to persuade Evangelista to drop her protection order application against Madam Boss.

Speaking to H-metro after the meeting, Ngoni said:

“I have talked to my wife about this matter and we agreed on a way forward.

“Leave everything to me so that I make sure Evangelista remains safe since she is expecting,”said Ngoni.

The meeting was held at Madam Boss’ mother-in-law’s house. And, after recovering, Madam Boss is said to have performed some house chores.

Evangelista lost her job as a nurse at a private hospital when the rumour initially broke out in March. She even threatened to commit suicide back then.

It could not be established whether Evangelista had been persuaded to withdraw her application for a protection order against Madam Boss at Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Court.

Meanwhile, Madam Boss on Monday clashed with Zhou, after finding out that Munetsiwa had hidden her at their matrimonial Seke home.

Madam Boss assaulted Zhou, took her mobile phone and deleted all photographs of her husband and the lover.

Munetsiwa and Madam Boss have been married for eight years. They also share a daughter together.

Cassper Nyovest reveals he won’t give up on taunting AKA till they settle their differences in the boxing ring.

The celebrity boxing match ought to have been launched with a fight between the two rappers, but it got canceled after months of preparation.

It was reported that Kiernan opted out of the fight, and to date, he’s refused to give in despite Cass’ call.

Over the weekend, Nyovest called out Forbes again after knocking out Priddy Ugly.

Cassper explained to a fan who told him to give up on AKA that the boxing match idea was from AKA.

“Not everyone is into boxing Casper..leave AKA alone,” the tweep wrote.

In response, Mufasa wrote,

“He started this, called me out to a boxing match and swore at both my parents as motivation. Now he sees he is going to get his ass kicked and would rather ignore the call out. I need to see that man in the ring. He gone have to come finish what he started. He likes acting tough.”

Five Bulawayo families have been left stranded after a block of flats was gutted by fire this Tuesday.

The fire broke out at round 5pm at Ringwood Flats along Second Avenue and George Silundika Street.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started in one of the apartments on the 3rd floor before spreading to the entire wing.

Five families were left stranded after their property was razed down to ashes.

“I lost all my property and papers,” one of the affected residents told ZBC News.

Another said, “What happened is very painful. We are happy no one was injured but it is very sad we lost all our properties.”

“As it is we are stranded. Last night I had to spend the night at my friend’s place,” another added.

Bulawayo Acting Chief Fire Officer, Mr Linos Phiri said the fire is suspected to have been caused by children who were playing with matchsticks.

By the time the firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire had already spread to the entire building.

“I confirm receiving a call at around 5PM and rushing to the scene. When the firefighters arrived at the scene, the building was already engulfed in flames,” he said.

This comes a fortnight after a fuel tanker caught fire in the Bulawayo city centre, while another flat in Ascot suburb caught fire last month.

Slik Talk took to his YouTube channel to add his two cents’ worth to the recent fight between music artists Priddy Ugly and Cassper Nyovest. The celebrity boxing match took place over the weekend at Sun City. Mufasa knocked out Priddy Ugly within the first two minute round, leaving fans extremely disappointed that Priddy Ugly did not deliver and the match ended so quickly.

Silk Talk, who doesn’t hold back nor mince his words, took to YouTube to speak his mind, calling the flight “pathetic” and a “battle of the trash music”. He also disclosed that Priddy Ugly talked down to him when he lost to Nyovest back in December 2021 in the “fame versus clout” match.

He said on YouTube: “So I just watched Cassper Nyovest and Priddy Ugly in a boxing match and I have to say, ‘Oh what a tangle web we weave when first we practice to deceive’. That was pathetic. This was the battle of the trash music, whose music is trash the most between Cassper Nyovest and Priddy Ugly.”

Slik Talk trashed Priddy Ugly’s music, saying it was as bad as his boxing skills. Priddy Ugly your boxing skills is as bad as your music my n****. That fight was absolutely pathetic

You couldn’t even make it past the first round. I thought it was easy. You went to my first fight, you were there, and you were talking about, ‘You could do this, you could do that’.

He said that Piddy Ugly’s music was worse than Nyovest’s and that no one listens to either because both are “garbage
Nobody listens to both of you. This just confirms it. Nobody wanted to see this fight, nobody cared about this fight. Priddy Ugly you just embarrassed yourself for nothing.

“I went past the first round and was about to go to the second round until the referee stopped me. I made it past and I wanted the third round.

“The first punch put you down, that’s how you know it’s not easy, it’s never been easy. I went through like a man and I never got put down, I ate those punches. You got destroyed in one round, and that was a two minutes round. Take that L (loss) and go home.
