Police speaks out on Wedza shooting incident. Police in Mashonaland East province have broken the silence on a shooting incident involving the officer-in-charge at Hwedza Police Station, who allegedly shot an imbiber at a local nightclub.

The victim, Fungai Madziro (37), spent over a week in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare after he was allegedly shot in the neck by Chief Inspector Buckstone Dodzo, who was driving away imbibers from the nightclub.

According to medical papers seen by NewsDay, the bullet entered “zone 2, anterior neck (triangular are of the neck) and exited above the scapula on the left side”.

Madziro also suffered damaged neck veins, resulting in surgeons taking some from his thigh to replace those ripped by the bullet.

Speaking at a Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ)-organised community reporting workshop held in Marondera at the weekend, provincial police boss Commissioner Erasmus Makodza said detectives were seized with the matter.

“Information we have is that the said police officer, together with others, were driving away some people from a bar. The patrons became violent and the victim tried to disarm the police officer, resulting in the shooting accident. The matter is currently under investigation from the CID. We have some witnesses who have come forward to testify on the matter,” he said.

On Friday, villagers from Mapingure and Madziro’s relatives threatened to demonstrate at Wedza Police Station, demanding Dodzo’s arrest for attempted murder. According to police insiders, Dodzo is treating the issue as an accidental discharge, but the victim’s relatives are disputing the claim.

The 38-year-old singer performed ‘For All We Know (We May Meet Again)’ ahead of the game as images of the late NBA legend were shown on massive screens at the United Center behind her.

Jennifer Hudson performed and led an eight-second silence to Kobe Bryant at the NBA All-Star game in Chicago on Sunday.

The 38-year-old singer performed For All We Know (We May Meet Again) ahead of the game as images of the late NBA legend were shown on massive screens at the United Centre behind her.

Basketball ace Magic Johnson also paid a touching tribute to Kobe, who passed away last month when he and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were among the nine people killed following a helicopter crash in Calabasas.

He said before the game: “We will never see another basketball player quite like Kobe.

“He was passionate about being a great father, husband, filmmaker.”

The latest tribute comes after it was announced that Kobe, his daughter and the seven other people who lost their lives will be remembered in a public memorial held at the Los Angeles Staples Centre on 24 February.

The Los Angeles Lakers – which is the basketball team Kobe played for, and the team that plays at the Staples Centre – revealed new details about the public memorial, including details on tickets to get into the event.

Tickets will cost either $224 or $24.02, and fans can register to purchase tickets through Ticketmaster starting from Friday, before they go on sale on Wednesday.

Proceeds from the memorial will benefit the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, which was set up by Kobe and was previously known as the Mamba Sports Foundation before his widow Vanessa Bryant altered the name to honour Gianna as well as Kobe.

The recurrence of the numbers 2 and 24 comes as Kobe wore a number 24 jersey for most of his career with the Lakers, and Gianna wore jersey number 2 at the Mamba Sports Academy.

The public memorial will begin at 10am on 24 February, and organisers have already allocated tickets to a large number of invited guests made up of family members, friends, celebrities, and current and former stars from the NBA.

The event will also honour John Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah Chester, Payton Chester, Christina Mauser, and pilot Ara Zobayan.

The memorial will be televised, and there are reportedly no plans for a procession or other events outside of the Staples Centre.

Europe renews sanctions against Zimbabwe Defense Industries. The European Union has renewed against the Zimbabwe Defense Industries for a period of one year.

In a statement issued on Monday EU said, “Taking into account the situation in Zimbabwe, including the yet to be investigated alleged role of the armed and security forces in human rights abuses, the Council today agreed to renew its arms embargo and targeted assets freeze against one company, Zimbabwe Defence Industries, for one year until 20 February 2021.

The existing restrictive measures against four individuals are suspended. The arms embargo, as well as the asset freeze against Zimbabwe Defence Industries, do not affect the Zimbabwean economy, foreign direct investment, or trade.”

Zimbabwe Defence Industries Ltd is a state-owned Zimbabwean arms manufacturing and procurement company with a primary focus on sporting and military ammunition. The Council said it is committed to continuing to support the economic and political dialogue in Zimbabwe and to support humanitarian assistance towards the country.

“The conclusions note the ongoing acute humanitarian crisis in the country and renew the EU’s support for the people of Zimbabwe in various sectors, such as economic development, primary health care, resilience building, as well as through humanitarian assistance.

“Restrictive measures were initially introduced in February 2002, when the Council expressed grave concern at the situation in Zimbabwe, in particular with regard to serious human rights violations by the country’s government at the time.

The Council conclusions highlight that the EU stands ready to review the whole range of its policies at any time, when justified, based on developments in the country.” Government is yet to respond to the announcement.

Elizabeth Tsvangirai hails renewed relations with Gogo Tsvangirai

Elizabeth Tsvangirai hails renewed relations with Gogo Tsvangirai. Elizabeth Tsvangirai’s widow has, however, now assured Zimbabwe that all was now well among them, resultantly allowing her to perform duties traditionally attributable to her as a daughter-in-law, including taking care of her late husband’s surviving mother, Gogo Tsvangirai.

Elizabeth, widow of opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC)’s founding father, Morgan Tsvangirai, says she suffered a huge breakdown in the days following her husband’s death as she immediately fell out with many members of his immediate family.

Elizabeth said she greatly missed her late husband Tsvangirai, who at one time became Prime Minister during the Government of National Unity in 2009. Tsvangirai died at the age of 65 in a South African hospital in 2018 following a long battle against cancer of the colon.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Elizabeth regretted the psychological trauma she went through while her husband was hospitalised in South Africa, including after he died due to the misunderstandings between herself and her husband’s surviving relatives.

Elizabeth cordially retrospected on how her husband’s grieving mother, Gogo Lydia Chibwe, had tried to bar her from attending Tsvangirai’s burial, threatening even to take her own life if Elizabeth dared to.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth was, however, quick to say her relationship with the family of the late leader had since been mended. “Words cannot express the pain and sorrow that I went through, but all is well now with her, others and my soul because God is good.

“I do not hold any grudges because as a Christian, I am taught to forgive. I have forgiven everyone who attacked me. “Equally, and in the same vein, I pray that if at all I transgressed against anyone, that they have also forgiven me.

“With regards to my relationship with my husband’s family, people must know that I now relate very well with everyone who is able to accommodate me,” Elizabeth said.

“Semunhu akabva kunevanhu (as someone who grew up in a good family), it’s also my duty to look after Gogo Tsvangirai, and I shall continue to do this to the best of my ability. “Culturally and spiritually, I am still a daughter-in-law to the Tsvangirai family. While what happened during the time of Morgan’s death is regrettable, it now belongs to the past.

“Of course, I wish people had respected his wishes and allowed him to be with people close to his heart on his death bed and at his farewell,” Elizabeth added. She also doubted if her late husband would have tolerated her ill-treatment by some of his relatives, also reiterating she had forgiven all.

Gogo Tsvangirai

“I knew my husband very well, and I know for sure that he would not have approved of the treatment that I got during his time of indisposition. “However, I must emphasise that this is in the past, and such things are common in our culture and among many families.

“In my case, people got to know and to hear about what happened to me – and I’m internally grateful for many people’s support and prayers at the time – because my husband was a public figure,” Elizabeth added.

She added that Tsvangirai – who passed away on Valentine’s Day – left an imprint on her heart, particularly as the couple used to share memorable times on this day. “It has been tough living without this wonderful person that I had chosen to spend the rest of my life with. He died before we achieved many of our dreams as a couple.

“It is now two years since my husband, best friend, lover and someone that I always looked up to for support and wise counsel left me. I miss Save (Tsvangirai’s totem) terribly,” Elizabeth said while struggling to bottle her emotions.

“Yes, and like many other couples, Morgan and I would celebrate Valentine’s in a special way. He would spoil me with flowers, gifts and good food – including sumptuous lunches, breakfasts and dinners. “Equally, I would also spoil him with gifts and things I knew he loved in his quiet and unassuming way, like new golf clubs.

“And as this past Valentine’s Day was on a Friday, I would have taken him out of town for a weekend – just for the two of us to have time together, and to allow me to spoil him,” Elizabeth added. Tsvangirai died just a few months before the 2018 harmonised elections.

Elizabeth said the former trade unionist-turned politician was a caring leader. “He was a very good person who pushed for a broad-based, water-tight, progressive and modern Constitution for the people of Zimbabwe – a Constitution which resonates with many modern democracies.

“Save (Tsvangirai’s totem) was not just a politician, he was a great and caring leader. “He did most of his work quietly and with simplicity because he had a great heart and love for the people, and not because he wanted to be seen or to be recognised,” Elizabeth said.

Winnie Ntshaba’s friends were allegedly conned by thugs

Isithembiso actress Winnie Ntshaba was hit by merciless tsotsis when they cloned her SIM card and swindled her friends a total amount of R8 000. Winnie (44), who shot to fame through her role as Khethiwe on SABC1’s Generations, opened a case of fraud at the Honeydew Police Station on Monday, after she was notified by friends who had received strange WhatsApp messages from her account, saying she was jailed for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Speaking to the SunTeam, Winnie said she had taken the necessary steps with Vodacom and was adamant the suspects would be nabbed. They messaged two of my friends from Durban and Joburg, who sent money because they believed I was in trouble. I don’t want to say much because police are investigating the matter,” she said.

Vodacom spokesperson Bryron Kennedy said they were aware of the matter and it’s the only one reported. While we continuously enhance measures to protect customers from fraudulent activity, we’re restricted in terms of what we can do from a porting perspective until such time the new Icasa regulations come into effect. All WhatsApp users can protect themselves from being scammed by activating the two-step authentication facility offered by WhatsApp.

Winnie Ntshaba

“To do this, go into WhatsApp, select Settings, then select Account and then Two-Step verification. You’ll then be asked to enter and then confirm a six-number password. If someone tries to set up a new WhatsApp account on a different phone it’ll ask them to enter the password, thus preventing criminal activity. If you get a WhatsApp message from a friend asking for money out of the blue, be aware that it could be a scam. So, ensure the person you send money to is really your contact and not a criminal,” he said.

In her police statement seen by the SunTeam, Winnie said she initially couldn’t make calls or send messages from her phone because the network was out of service, prompting her to use a different phone, and that’s when she discovered thugs were at work.

“The suspect contacted a few of the complainant’s friends asking for money. The total money paid is R8 000. The complainant went to Vodacom and was told someone called to make a SIM swap on the number, and that is why the phone was deactivated,” reads the statement, in part. Police spokesman Kay Makhubele had not responded at the time of going to print.

Unpaid domestic worker sells boss’s car on OLX while he is on holiday. If you had a domestic worker make sure you pay her on time even if you are on holiday in Europe because things can get messy back home. Mr. Van Rensburg from Pretoria is not a happy man after coming home from a three month holiday in Europe to find out his beloved, low mileage Land Cruiser 200 Series was gone and so was his Zimbabwean maid.

Determination had worked for Van Rensburg for two years. When he went on vacation to Europe earlier this year he told her to take care of his home and pets while he was gone for three months. Unfortunately, he forgot to wire her the salary for two months so she sold his R 1.2 Million car for only R 150 000 on OLX and Gumtree.

We Mr. Van Rensburg realised his Land Cruiser was gone and the maid is nowhere to be found he went to the police and they were able to track down the buyer who unfortunately had already sold it to a Mozambiquean car dealer and it has already been shipped out.

The buyer said when he saw the ad that says a 2016 Land Cruiser 200 for R250 000 negotiable he thought it was just a scam and felt compelled to play along with the scammer only to find out the car was real. “She sent me a video of the car and she knew the specs of the car even the KM per liter, she was so convincing she told me her boss is moving to Europe and he wants the car sold very fast and he left her with the papers and everything.”

“She even added that her boss hates the car because it reminds him of the good times he had with his wife off-roading and he wants to move on”.

“I went to view the car will to pay not less than R500 000 but I decided to say I have only R150 000 and she said fine, even the neighbours were watching when I bought the car from her.”

Police are still looking for the 33-year-old Determination’s whereabout.

Nomsa Buthelezi has let go of friends who criticise and pretend to be happy for her

Nomsa Buthelezi has overcome a lot of negative commentary about everything from her acting to her love life and personality, but sis has always risen above it all and revealed that even her close friends – now ex-friends – used to try to keep her down. The Lockdown actress took to her Instagram to share that she has learned that true freedom comes with letting go of people who insist on putting you down.

“I used to have a friend who always put me down, wanted me to worship her. One day I woke up and deleted her number and blocked it. My spirit is free now. Speaking to TshisaLIVE previously, Nomsa revealed that on her journey to loving herself the way she deserves, she had to open her eyes to people who were negatively contributing to her life.

“I have learnt to let go of certain people who aren’t as happy as I am about me putting myself and my happiness first. Once I realised how freeing that is I also learnt to treasure the people who truly have my interest at heart,” she told TshisaLIVE.

Nomsa Buthelezi

In an interview last year, Nomsa made it clear than when she was planning her wedding, she would not have people who were not genuinely happy for her. As a same-sex couple, we have had way too many people smile with us, only to turn and say nasty things about us. Or people who pretend to be happy for us, but wish bad things for us. We don’t want such energy on our wedding day.

“Your wedding day is all about you and your partner sharing your happiness with your family and close friends. I’ve decided I won’t have any bridesmaids at my wedding. I’ve had too many friends turn on me, so only my children will be at the front with me. The few good friends I do have will wear a special colour that matches ours to show who they are.

Actress Gabisile Tshabalala was fired from the TV Drama for being Pregnant – I’m pregnant, so what?

Actress and presenter Gabisile Tshabalala has announced on social media she will soon welcome her second child. Gabisile is using her situation to fight for many marginalized pregnant women through her hashtag #SoWhatImPregnant?

The hashtag seeks to tackle workplace discrimination against pregnant women, especially those working in the entertainment world.

It was sparked by Gabi blowing the whistle on her exit from a soapie in 2015, alleging she was fired from the show after she fell pregnant.

Gabisile Tshabalala

Even though she now still has her job, she has decided to speak up and start a conversation around the topic.

“This started a long time ago when I was fired for being pregnant,” she told Daily Sun.

“I didn’t understand why being pregnant would get me fired.”

She said she always wanted to get women to talk openly about incidents in the workplace, where being pregnant was seen as being incapable of doing your job or not being able to get hired.

She said she also saw getting fired as a blessing as most women in her industry rushed back to work and never got to spend time with their new babies.

Gabisile Tshabalala

“I managed to spend a year with my first child while my husband took care of us. I’ve received a massive response from women on social media. Some of them state they are afraid of falling pregnant out of fear of being fired or not being hired.”

Gabi said she was glad she had sparked a conversation among many women.

“Our employers need to know and understand we’re human beings and deserve to want to be mothers, also to work and enjoy life without discrimination,” she said.

“We are going to take the fight to the doorstep of @edmnangagwa. We’re going to overthrow him before 2023. That’s not a joke,” reads Mahere’s tweet.

Meanwhile, MDC supporters fought running battles with police in Masvingo during Sikhala’s court case and 5 supporters have since been arrested over malicious damage of police vehicle.

Chamisa: No political reforms, no 2023 elections

Chamisa: No political reforms, no 2023 elections. Speaking at the Bulawayo Press Club last week, the opposition leader said since 2000, the country has failed to resolve political problems that came with disputed elections. “Right now, we are talking about. There can never be an election without resolving the 2018 political issues.

Opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Nelson Chamisa has said Zimbabwe will not go into the 2023 harmonised elections without comprehensive political reforms. Chamisa said the political glitches that arose during the disputed 2018 polls required a comprehensive national dialogue.

“So, if we are going 2023, I can assure you, we will be back to square one. We will win the election in 2023, V11 forms will be manipulated and altered. “We will go to the Constitutional Court and the Constitutional Court will make a verdict and there will be a reproduction of what we have seen since the year 2000,” Chamisa said.

Chamisa said not resolving political issues was like attesting to Zanu-PF political commissar Victor Matemadanda’s theory that elections in Zimbabwe were just a ritual.  “We did not resolve 2000 and therefore we had a replica in 2005. We did not resolve 2005 and therefore we had a replica of the same in 2008.

“We did not resolve 2008 when then South African President Thabo Mbeki came and we had a problem in 2013. The year 2013 repeated itself in 2018. “What is very clear is what (Zanu-PF political commissar Victor) Matemadanda has said elections are insignificant in this country and that they do not matter. They are just a ritual,” he said.

“We cannot continue to have a cycle of disputed elections. Those who are putting their hopes on 2023 elections might as well forget it if we have not resolved the issue of elections in Zimbabwe.

“Why should we go to rituals that are not giving effect to our voices? That is why we must resolve the governance crisis,” Chamisa added. Chamisa commented on the planned delimitation of constituencies and said, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec)’s composition was disputed, hence could not carryout a credible election.

“Zec is in the process of de-linking delimitation of boundaries from the national census on the basis that the exercise involves the number of registered voters and does not rely on the country’s census that captures data of the population.

“Zec cannot have a credible process of delimitation when they are contested themselves. It is an issue we are putting as one of the key reforms needed.

“Mnangagwa and his government want to separate a census from delimitation because they do not want people to compare the statistics through an objective scientific census against the figures that then come out of their new boundaries,” Chamisa said.

The delimitation exercise is usually conducted after the national population census. The country is due for a census in 2022, with elections the following year. President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Chamisa have been haggling on the modalities of the dialogue.

Mnangagwa wants the talks to be conducted under the Political Actors Dialogue (Polad).  Chamisa however argues that the bulk of the parties that constitute POLAD have no political relevance as they have no any representatives in Parliament.

Machete gang wreaks havoc in Lupane

Machete gang wreaks havoc in Lupane. An eight-member machete-wielding gang on Thursday morning went on a rampage in Lupane, Matabeleland North leaving victims seriously injured before fleeing with undisclosed amounts of cash and groceries.

Chief Mabhikwa whose constituency covers the named areas yesterday said he heard the reports. I heard that there were some attacks that happened in the area but I’m yet to get full details,” he said. The gang pounced on Matshakayila, Maphanabomvu and Dandanda business centres where it attacked people and robbed them of cash and other valuables.

Matabeleland North police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Siphiwe Makonese said they were yet to receive information on the incident. “I have not received such information but probably it happened at some substations and they are yet to send it,” she said.

However, police sources said some victims of the attacks had been hospitalised. “The amount of money and groceries taken could not be ascertained as the victims were unable to talk due to serious injuries sustained during the robbery,” said the source who revealed that the victims are admitted to St Luke’s Hospital in Lupane.

“The gang broke into a shop at Matshakayila Business Centre and assaulted the owner of the shop Mr Princess Nyathi leaving him with a fractured leg and multiple injuries all over the body. They took some money and groceries. After failing to break into nearby shops, they then pounced at Matshakayila veterinary sub-office where they assaulted the vet officer and tied him to a tree.

“He also suffered multiple injuries while the gang broke money safe and fled with an unconfirmed amount. Both victims are unable to talk hence the total value of money and groceries taken could not be ascertained, they are both admitted at St Luke’s Hospital,” the police source said.

Details of crimes committed in those areas are yet to be ascertained as investigations are still underway. “Using the same modus operandi, the gang pounced on Maphanabomvu and Dandanda business centres. We are however yet to receive details of what happened at these two business centres,” said a police source.

Efforts to get a comment from St Luke’s Hospital were futile as the hospital is reported to have no telephone line. Last month a mine worker was shot dead while several others were injured when about 10 robbers armed with a gun and machetes went on the rampage attacking people in Maphisa, Matobo District.

The armed robbers who targeted a mining compound and shops, randomly fired shots. Corgen Moyo (42) who was employed at Antelope Milling Stamp, died on the spot after the armed robbers shot him while forcing their way into his room at the mine compound.

After raiding and shooting Moyo dead, the robbers moved to Falcon Complex, about a kilometre away, where Zanu-PF district offices are also housed and attacked workers at the shops.

There, the armed robbers also randomly fired shots and got away with R4 000 and US$80. The police have however declared war on machete gangs and 2 323 have been arrested so far in the ongoing operation against the gangs.

Man City could be relegated to League Two

Man City could be relegated to League Two. After being handed a two-year ban from the UEFA Champions League, Manchester City could face an even harsher domestic punishment, one that could see them drop down to England’s fourth division.

On Friday, UEFA sent shockwaves throughout the footballing fraternity when it was confirmed that City had been banned from the Champions League for two seasons following a breach in Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Following the European football governing body’s decision, it now appears likely that the Premier League will conduct its own investigation into the reigning champions’ finances, and could impose punishment as extreme as relegating the club to League Two. That’s according to the Daily Express, who report that clubs need to provide financial information that matches the information supplied to UEFA in order to obtain a Premier League licence.

Should Pep Guardiola’s side be found to have breached the EPL’s own FFP regulations, the club could be handed a points deduction or face relegation, with a recent report by The Independent confirming that expelled clubs must ‘start over’ in League Two.

Bounty Lisa undergoes surgery to remove huge growth on thigh. After her recent visit to Harare’s popular cleric Prophet Walter Magaya’s Church Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Church (PHD), Bounty Lisa’s fortune is yet to turn for the best as her tumour is still haunting her.

The social media personality Mai Titi decided to make a courtesy call at Bounty Lisa’s residence and said: “Went to see Bounty Lisa oh she not feeling well let’s pray for her. Get well soon chimhamha”. This definitely affects her work which involves standing on two feet for hours.

She was once married to fellow musician Soul Jah Luv and they broke up under unclear circumstances. But it seems the singer decided to go through with the proposed surgery to remove the growth. Reports earlier had said that she had snubbed an operation believing that the growth would vanish after being prayed upon by Prophet Magaya.

From the picture below we can see that she went through the surgery…

Prophet Makandiwa’s tormentor Blessing Mashangwa walks away with nothing after losing case in court

Prophet Makandiwa’s tormentor Blessing Mashangwa walks away with nothing after losing case in court. Blessing Mashangwa made headlines a few years back when together with her (then) husband Upenyu Mashangwa, they sued Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa of the United Family International Church.

The Mashangwas sued both Makandiwa and his with Ruth over alleged false prophecies. They demanded a massive $6.5 million from the couple, alleging that they had made significant losses because they had believed in Makandiwa’s “false” prophecies.

However, it seems like lately, things have not been working out for Blessing. Her marriage fell apart in 2018 and now she is walking away with nothing from Oceane Perfumes, the business that she toiled over for 15 years.

Blessing bared her soul about losing the business and walking away with nothing from Oceane Perfumes in an emotional post on social media site, Facebook. In the post, she detailed her achievements although she was coy in explaining what had happened to make her give up her stake. However, she revealed that going forward, the company will be led by her ex-husband.

Blessing And Upenyu Mashangwa

Below is an excerpt from Blessing’s Facebook Post,

Having not worked for Oceane Cosmetics since March 2019. This is to officially confirm my resignation from Oceane Cosmetics, not only as a director but as (a) shareholder as well. It is perhaps the most difficult and regrettable decision I have ever had to make.

It has been an honour to serve in this position and am grateful for the support and encouragement I have received. However extenuating circumstances have necessitated this move.

I want to thank Mr Upenyu Mashangwa Sirr Mash for the opportunity and platform he gave me to challenge myself with new responsibilities, the most impactful has been the relationships I have built in the community, among various businesses, with different women who some have become my mothers, sisters and friends.

Nomatter were life will take me one thing is certain that I will continue to be a loyal supporter of this brand.

My vision for Oceane has always been to empower women, I have sacrificed to resign without any payment/benefits or compensation, I’m walking away with absolutely nothing from the business, therefore, if you are seating at home and you have nothing to do allow this company to change your life, by grabbing the opportunity they offer to empower you to be a business owner and become your own boss, that way I will feel the loss and sacrifice was all worth it.

I urge Zimbabwe to continue using this brand, after 15yrs in business they have done all the trials and errors and have gained experience to offer you a quality brand.

Working with Oceane has been a lifetime experience. To the staff, I don’t know of a collection of individuals that work so hard to exemplify a high character, strive to meet needs and deliver excellently, thank you👏👏👏

To Sirr Mash (Upenyu Mashangwa) I pray🙏 that God may guide you to lead this company to greater heights It is well!!!.

The fraud allegations against the Makandiwas were dismissed last year after the High Court said the claims were false, frivolous and vexatious. However, the Mashangwas appealed the High Court decision at the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has since reserved judgement on the matter after hearing from the lawyers.

Some followers of Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa and non-followers alike who believe in prophets, rejoiced at Blessing’s woes saying that it was divine retribution for “touching the anointed of God”. A good number of them took delight in quoting Psalm 105:15 which according to the English Standard Version Bible reads,

“Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!”

Video of Prophet Passion Java speaking in tongues sounding Shona like goes viral. The prophet who had barely made news for his ministerial antics this time managed to land in the limelight for his service when he spoke in tongues. Flamboyant prophet Passion Java is well known for his attention-loving antics and his flair for the dramatic.

The prophet raised quite a number of eyebrows by his rambling in religious tongues as congregants seemed caught in the spirit while the prophet went on and on with his ramblings which some observers felt was fake.

To the normal person, the prophet is heard uttering words to the extent of: Mbira kateya, brigadier kateya, brigadier mateya! According to an online definition speaking in tounges is explained as ‘person who has what is known as

“the gift of tongues” is usually in the midst of religious ecstasy, trance, or delirium. … Experts call this phenomenon glossolalia, a Greek compound of the words glossa, meaning “tongue” or “language,” and lalein, meaning “to talk.” or is a phenomenon in which people speak words that are apparently in languages unknown to the speaker.

In the past, the prophet himself has taught about speaking in tongues with what he calls 66 levels of tongues. Java teaches about Tongues of Man, tongues of Angels and tongues of God and he goes on to teach on how one can get into a level to start speaking in tongues and how to get more levels of speaking in Tongues.

The prophet who is a social media darling is known for his incessant bragging about his wealth and putting fellow social media influencer in blast whenever he feels like.
